Problem with SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Card Installat

I just completed installation of my X-Fi Xtreme Audio card for PCI express slot. I followed instructions and cancelled the prompt for audio drivers (by the hardware wizard) and installed via the Creative Labs CD. The installation went well and the card appears to be
functioning normally. My problem is that whenever I boot up the computer, the hardware wizard keeps discovering my card as new hardware and prompting me for a driver. I have been cancelling each time, but the last time I put in the CD, and had it search for the driver in the Audio/Drivers/driver/WinXP/bin, but it didn't seem to be able to locate the driver to satisfy itself.
What should I do (besides turning off the hardware wizard) to end this cycle of "new hardware found" episodes every time I boot.
I hope that someone can help with this.
ps: I would have liked to speak briefly with a Creative Tech Support person, but they seem to have conveniently left any telephone contact numbers off of their website, so I must depend on your help. Thanks.

  • Problems with the X-Fi Xtreme Audio Notebook external card..

I recently updated my drivers for this card on my laptop to find out that updating my drivers meant causing my card to stop working. Before I decided to update through vista (probably a bad idea, but I really was hoping to get my new headset to work with Ventrilo and this seemed like the only route left after working on it for hours), the card was working fine. Music sounded amazing, etc etc. However, upon completion of the downlaod and restarting of my computer, the audio driver just stopped working completely.
At this point, this is what is going on: <img><span class="Apple-style-span"]http://img75.imageshack.us/my.php?image=helpmeyk3.jpg</img> .
I've gone to my devices through the control panel and attempted to revert to my old drivers, yet that doesn't work either. Nothing that I do seems to help, so I've just given up until I get someone who actually knows what they are doing. Here's my specs:

    4gig RAM

  • No 6.1 channel speakers option with soundblaster x-fi xtreme audio

Here is my problem: I have a 6.1 channel speakers and a yamaha receiver, but my computer doesn't show 6.1 configuration, and neither does the creative software. Both control panel and creative software only have 5.1 and 7.1. When I use my speakers with my dvd player everything works just fine. My soundcard is the soundblast x-fi xtreme audio pci, and I have windows XP. Does anybody know what's going on?

6.1 isn't really a common speaker configuration so I doubt that many sound cards discretely support it. I'm assuming that the only way to get 6.1 audio is from a movie with a Dolby or DTS -encoded track via SPDIF or letting the receiver upmix 5.1 input into the rear mono channel.
How are you connecting the sound card to the receiver? Are you using SPDIF or direct analog connections? If watching DVD movies, I'd recommend SPDIF, provided your DVD software supports it, you should be able to send a 6.1 encoded stream over SPDIF to the receiver, but for everything else I'd recommend the direct 5.1 analog connections, set your sound card to 5.1 and then let the receiver upmix to the rear channel if you so desire to use that feature.

  • Installation Problem with SB X-Fi Xtreme Audio P

    Hello,
I bought a X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCIe yesterday and I can't install this card on my WinXP 32bit.
My Board is an Asus A8N-E with a nforce4 ultra chipset.
Windows detects a "pci device" at startup.
In the hardware manager there is a "pci device" listed with a black exclamation mark on yellow ground.
But I can't install the driver correctly. The driver always says that "no supported hardware" is found.
I have tried out the driver on the CD and many drivers from the internet.
    Does anybody know a solution?
    Thanks in advantage!

I see several issues here:?. It's an AMD system.2. Aside from my bias towards preferring Intel systems, the actual issue is related to the ESCD system. In modern day boards, you have a system called Extended System Configuration Data that holds the information from the Plug and Play Identifier that is read from a card when it is plugged into a board. This is what triggers the New Hardware Found information. If this identifier can't be decoded correctly, the .inf file with the PnP coding in it can't identify the card, and the drivers will not load, and with the NT kernal system, they can't be forcibly installed very well either, and in most cases, the board won't initialize correctly anyway. Possible Resolutions:?. Try updating the motherboards BIOS if you haven't done this already. According to Asus, the latest (and most likely final) edition is 03. They have a Windows installer which can update the BIOS, but you need to make sure ALL background programs, Anti-Virus, ect. are closed down to prevent a corruption of the BIOS update.
PLEASE USE CAUTION UPDATING YOUR BIOS AS IT WILL RENDER YOUR BOARD INOPERABLE
!!! 2. Remove all other cards if any, and be sure the onboard sound is disabled. You may simply have something preoccupying the memory addresses the card wants to use.
    3. Be sure to go into the BIOS and Enable Reset Configuration Data. This will clear the ESCD. Once cleared it will redetect the board, and unless there is a problem on the board's PnP side, it should pick it up. 4. One big possibility is the RAM and/or the CPU. While it is rare the CPU causes this issue, it unfortunately is not unheard of. However, bad RAM is not unheard of, and will usually manifest itself with the computer also having unusual problems like locking up unexpectantly, poor DVD playback (excessi've artifacts, pausing, ect.), and the famed BSOD or spontaneous reboots. It is also noted that the nForce 4 chipset and the Sound Blaster cards have known compatibility issues. I also have a small issue as it is with my nForce 680i chipset and the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum. This is also a known problem, and it will not be resolved. The card works, but just has problems when running the Test in 5. and 7. modes. It is my overall guess it is simply a BIOS issue, and if you update the BIOS and the problems continue, then you will want to send the card back for a replacement. If the replacement has the same issue, I'd replace the motherboard. I hope this hel

  • Optical Output surround problem with SB X'FI Xtreme Audio Notebook (Gray one)

    Dear All and Creative Gurus,
I search through the forum and read all sticky thread and didn't find an answer, so I need to post here:
I just bought this ExpressCard sound card for my laptop, and nearly all work fine. I know pretty well Creative tools and settings for years as I already have an XtremeGamer PCI card for my desktop PC.
I meet an Optical Output issue with this new Notebook card:
When I use any software to play DTS or Dolby Digital signal from video or music (E.g. a DVD with PowerDVD or VLC), the Optical Output only send "basic" st?r?o, and my amplifier can't detect any surround. Surround is OK when I use the little dock with the 7. analog output.
As a comparison, with the other computer, and the X'FI XtremeGamer sound card, and using same settings, same sources and same software (VLC or PowerDVD set to spdif output) the Optical Output send surround sound, and my amplifier detect Dolby or DTS source.
So I hope it's just a drivers (updated I think) or settings problem, and I hope this optical output is not made only for st?r?o sound!
Let me know your feelings here Guys, thanks! And keep the good work
    Best regards,
    Loran_69
Edit few minuts after : All work fine if I use the "Creative MediaSource 5 Player" !
The optical Output send surround and my amplifier well detect the Dolby or DTS source!
So what's going on with other software like VLC or PowerDVD, with the same settings than my desktop computer (spdif enabled)?

Seeing as the desktop version of the Xtreme Audio doesn't support Game Mode or even have the X-Fi chip on it (card is basically nothing more than a renamed SB Li've 24 bit/Audigy SE), I don't see how the notebook version can be any different. That and from looking at the specs for it I don't see anywhere that it even mentions anything about Game Mode, never mind EAX.

  • Problem with Vista, X-Fi (xtreme audio) DTS/Dolby Digi

I have the z5400 speakers with DD/DTS decoding.
With the drivers that came with the card, the control panel works how it should..... But I am unable to watch a movie in DD or DTS (using Digital output)?because the option to let the Card is hidden, doesnt exist, all I get is the rear 2 channels. When I install the new drivers, I am able to disable the card decoding of DTS and DD, but none of the control panel works + the sound goes all weird like there is WAY too much bass and so whenever there is a kick, the whole sound quietens down so as to compensate for the bass. I hope I explained that well enough. basically original drivers = control panel + good sound - DD or DTS optionsnew drivers????= DD & DTS options - control panel or good sound

  • X-fi Xtreme Audio card problems!

Hi!?I bought a X-fi Xtreme Audio card today. installed, and now I get a big fps drop in Battlefield 2, first of all I cant enable Creative X-fi in the Audio tap under options in the game, it says the card does not supoort bla bla bla, if I chose to use Hardware I cant play the game due to extreme lag, with normal software, same settings I used with my onboard card, Realtek AC 97, I still got big fps drop... What is this **bleep**?Hey I want my money back, this **bleep** is useless... or is there some sort of fix? or is my card complete garbage?kind regards from an angry customer?//Stripflash

First, please refrain from using profanity on the forums: it is against the rules.
Next, it sounds like something definately isn't working right, as the X-fi shouldn't drag down your framerate at all. I would start off with a "cleansweep" uninstall/reinstall. On this website, click "Support" then KnowledgeBase, and in the searchbox type "SID72."
Let us know how it goes!
    Good luck,

  • SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI-Express and XFX 9800GT graphics c

    Hi
I have just bought a SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI-Express card and looked at the motherboard where I have a XFX 9800GT graphics card installed and noticed the PCI-E slot where it attatches to the motherboard is right next to the graphics card and I am concerned it may cause air flow ventilation problems for the fan on the graphics card. The gap is about 2 mm.
.Does anyone think think this may cause the graphics card problems?
    2. Is there an adapter/extention?lead that can be?connected to the PCI-E slot so I can attatch?the X-Fi Extreme card so I can move it away from the graphics card ?
Any ideas on this much appreciated.
    Mack

The only way your going to know the answer to is by measuring the cards tempds before and after installing the sound card.
Graphic cards run with certain temp limits, and I guess there must be one for yours.
No idea on 2...all google throws up is "PCI Express to PCI Adapter".

  • Recording problem with SoundBlaster X

    Hello everyone,
I am running a X-FI sound card which is on my motherboard (MSI P6N Platinium).
I always had MSI boards with integrated soundblaster cards, and I used to plug my guitar directly in the microphone input and record.
Since I got this new board with the X-FI card, I have latency when I play my guitar. The sound has around half a second delay before it gets to the speakers.
I never had such a problem with my other motherboards/soundblasters.
I tried with the front panel mic, and also with the back panel one. The problem with the back panel is that when I plug my guitar in, it doesn't allow me to output to the normal 5. speakers, I have just the option to should Digital output...
Does anyone have an idea on something I should look for in the setup?
    I am running a:
    Intel Dual Core 6600
MSI P6N Platinium with integrated SoundBlaster X-FI Xtreme Audio
    2GB Geil sync RAM
    Nvidia 8800GTX 768Mb Video Ram
Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

Hmm.. IIRC, X-Fi Xtreme Audio?doesn't have nati've ASIO?drivers so, if you like to?use lower latency (less delayed), you'll need to either?- install asio4all dri've and use asio compatible software for to input the signal?or?- use WDM/KS capable software for to input the signal?ASIO4ALL driver http://www.asio4all.com?ASIO capable Host? software:VSTHost - http://www.hermannseib.com/english/default.htm?(you need to add least one effect plugin to get signal out ... effevts can be found from KVR http://www.kvraudio.com/get.php)?Reaper?- http://www.cockos.com/reaper/?(support for WDM/KS and ASIO, use WDM/KS with settings 4 buffers x?256 - 52 samples)?jutapa

  • X-fi Xtreme Audio card Digital I/O in Windows Vi

Hallo,?Recently I bought an X-fi Xtreme Audio card and installed it in a PC using both Windows XP SP2 and Windows Vista. The card has to work connected to a Creative Inspire 5. Digital 5700 external decoder. I installed the card and used it with no problems under windows XP SP2.
In order to connect the card with the external decoder I had to check an option "Digital Output only" in Entertainment Mode - Speakers and headphones section. Now, on the same computer, I'm trying to use the card with Windows Vista.
The system recognize the card and I was able to install software and driver for the card (driver version is .4.65 as "Creative System Information" application reported). If I connect an headphone to Line Out connector I can hear music playing. But I cannot select Digital I/O output.
In Vista, Entertainment Mode hasn't any checkbox to allow "Digital Output only" to work.
So I don't have any idea on how select Digital I/O output. Anyone can help me?Thank you in advance.

Hi?I had the same problem, and here is the solution. ) Make sure u download the latest drivers for Vista. 2) After the installation u can goto the Control Panel> Sound Settings? You will see that there is 2devices listed. st is the Speakers configuration2nd there is the SPDIF configuration. Alter first the Speakers configuration to ur needs, enable the Digital out! > make sure u never select a frequency above 48khzAlter the SPDIF settings and test the sample rates that is given on the screen sothat u know what works with the card and not. If there are any problems leave the settings i gave exactly as instructed, and then goto urAudio Console and check there is a headphone settings and disable them. Try again thereafter!?Good Luck!Marvin?IT & Audio Specialist

  • Creative soundblaster x-fi xtreme audio PROB

    Hello!
Ive just bought a ceati've soundblaster x-fi xtreme audio some days ago but it dosent work properly.
I bought a ( http://www.clasohlson.se/Product/Product.aspx?id=383530 ) becouse i wanted to connect my PC to my reci'ver but i cant choose Spdif in the console launcer.
-It just says unknown or no signal in the Digital I/O menu.
    What am i doing wrong?
    Help!

The Digital I/O jack on the Xtreme Audio soundcard isn't an optical out jack so you can't use an optical cable directly with the card. If your receiver has coaxial jack, you can get a 3.5mm minijack to coaxial cable to work with the soundcard.

I bought a Soundblaster X-fi Xtreme Audio soundcard to go with my new computer as I have always used Creative and have been impressed by them. However, in Vista, my rear speakers do not seem to work. I did some research and found that ALchemy was what I needed, but I cannot get this to install. It gives me the error message that my card isnt supported. Is there any workaround for this? I feel pretty miffed having an X-Fi card and being excluded from proper sound in Vista.
