Problem with startup....

I just install DE ...twice...
It always show.."Could not find Digital Editions folder."...

Two questions in this thread:
Managed PCs. There is currently not a workaround for this, but we are working on this as a top priority. Can you please submit a support incident at www.adobe.com/support/digitaleditions/?
My Documents on another drive: This has been tested rather extensively and works. The only issues we saw were where the My Documents was mapped to some kinds of network drives, or where the user simply moved their My Documents folder without using the OS' tool (i.e. right-click on your My Documents folder and select "Properties", then change the target in the dialog using the Move... button. Does either of these fit your case?

  • Problems with startup / no sound / webvideos

    Hello everyone.
Since I last updated my iMac two days ago 02/18/09 (accepting program updates, and also a security update from apple) my computer is running differently. The startup takes forever (wheel screen, blue screen) and and it seems that the computer doesn't locate the sound board, answering at the "system preferences that there is no output / input devices found (not even built-in speakers) .
So if anyone can help me solve this I would be very thankful. Since there is a lot of small problems, I will separate them here:
    1. Long startup
    2. No sound
    3. Internet videos not functioning
    4. Scrollball at the mouse seems broken
    Thanks!

    Luis,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I would recommend that you download the [Mac OS X 10.5.6 Combo Update|http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_5_6_ComboUpdate] and install that. Some folks (myself included) who have had problems with the Software Update have been able to get a stable system via installing the Combo. It is a large file (668Mb) but in my view worth downloading and installing.

  • Problems with startup, disk utility, everything else (it seems)

So I've been having problems with my iMac for about a week (I believe I'm running OSX 10.5 with whatever the most recent update is) (also, it's a 24" that I bought refurbed last October). I kept getting the ?file screen upon startup, but eventually it would start just fine.
I thought I managed to start and restart in safe-boot yesterday, but now I'm not so sure.
This morning I tried to do a Disk Utility from the install disk, only I'm a bit confused. This is supposed to find the hard drive, right? so I can do the tests to it and hopefully fix whatever problem there is? Because the utility was only finding the install disk, and then that got stuck and won't even eject (this is where I stopped because I had to leave for work). And when the install to where screen came up, there were no options for where to install the OS.
I haven't been able to get anywhere to run the hardware test or do a safe-boot or any of those options. I also have not yet called Apple or taken the mac into a store.
So I am starting to think that perhaps my hard drive is screwed. Am I right, or are there other things I should try first? (And if anyone has any suggestions for how to get that install disk to eject, I'd love to hear them--every time I tried that from the Disk Utility screen, I got an error.)

    Hello b:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
To eject the disk, restart the computer while holding the mouse button down.
The rest of it sounds like hardware, but without being able to boot from the software install DVD, I cannot think of a way to go further. I would take the computer to an Apple store for diagnosis.

  • Macintosh Quadra 840AV, problem with startup

    Hey all,
I got a brand new (old) Macintosh Quadra 840AV computer from my friend. I acquired it with powermac 8100 mainboard on deck, and then it started good, I had a signal on monitor and system started up. When I put an original 840AV mainboard it doesn't start. Why? I equipped 840AV mainboard with a new 3,6V battery. Maybe a problem with a RAM?

Solved. I put a video RAM instead of standard RAM. :>

  • Problems with "Startup Disk Memory"

I'm having issues with hard drive storage.
My spotify account is telling me it can't play music because my hard drive is full. Applications won't run because my "startup disk space is full." I can't download ANYTHING because there is no space.
Before anyone tells me to delete some files, I have already backed up all my files and deleted ALL OF THEM. The only thing on my computer at the moment is my software. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? I'm at the end of my rope. My computer is basically good for nothing right now. I'm also having extreme problems booting it up, and connecting to Wi-Fi. I'm running Lion OS X, fyi.

  • Having problems with Startup Disk Installing Panther

I'm having problems installing Panther, I currently have a 9.2 OS. I get a message that the startup disk could not select the new os as the start up disk. Has anyone had this problem before? I've done all my updates, firmware included. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Julie

I bought the disc on ebay, its for an emac.
That disk isn't compatible with your computer; it will only work on a specific eMac model. You need a retail Mac OS X installation package, which is available here.

  • Problems with startup and logging in

My macbook pro has been acting very strangely, taking 5 or so minutes to boot up, and now it has devleoped another very troubling symptom. Whenever I type in my password, it takes me to my desktop, and then promptly sends me back to the login screen. Has anyone heard of this? I can log into bootcamp fine, but it's osx that's giving me problems. Does anyone have any startup tips that may help it?
    Any help is greatly appreciated

I see that I am late to this thread - but over time my iMac 24 and MacBook Pro 17 - both pretty new are having increasingly frequent and longer lasting startup problems. Initially it would happen perhaps once or twice but now can extend to recurrent problems 8-10-15 times.
The chime sounds, the white screen comes on with the apple and spinning gear, then the screen fgoes blue and hangs. The arrow appears in the top left corner but nothing else happens no matter how long I leave it. IfI try to power off and on again this same pattern may occur multiple times before the desktop screen appears.
Also recently with the iMac - the desktop may appear with or without the task bar at the top or bottom. Sometimes the top task bar is "in negative".
Lastly some times the desk top appears, both task bars are present and normal in appearance but as soon as I try to open any program or drive the spinning color wheel appears and the whole system is locked up.
This is becoming incredibly frustrating as it can take up to 15 minutes to get the computer to start up properly which it has done every time so far. But I am increasingly concerned that one of these times it won't work at all.
No amount of diagnostics seem to have any impact and the whole problem is completely unpredictable.
Any one with any idea at all on this?

  • Anyone having problems with startup manager?

Upgrade to 10.8 appeared to work normally.  Immediately after, found that startup manager failed to work.  When option key is held at startup, I hear the normal sound, but screen remains black.  Computer does not respond (left it for at least 30 minutes).  Held power button to reboot.  Otherwise my Mac Pro (mid 2010) seems to work OK.  Recovery mode works (command+R).  Used recovery mode to switch boot drive and booted into Windows 7 OK where all seemed normal.  Attempted to access startup manager multiple times, no change.
PS - using EVGA nvidia GTX 680, will be swapping back to the Radeon HD 5870 for trouble-shooting.

Confirmed this problem is related to the nvidia graphics card.  Startup manger worked normally with the orginal Radeon card installed.  Given that there are options for booting into Bootcamp, I've reinstalled the GTX 680 and will continue to use it.  Hopefully there will be a fix for this at some point in the future.

  • Problems with Startup, Please help.

This weekend, I came across some issues w/ my computer. I've searched numerous forums, and have visited the support forums on here as well with no luck. I hope someone might have a solution for me on here. I think this is a startup/os X issue...
    I'm running The latest version of Tiger on a G5 2.3MHz Dual-core.
The Problem: When I start my computer, the startup disc (which is a 3rd party seagate drive) where my OS X is installed, it won't load up....I get the gray screen and the gear just turns and turns and nothing happens. But I had originally put OS X on my other HD also (the one that came w/ my computer - I use it for storage of my projects, music, images etc.), so I WAS able to hold the option key down during restart to startup on THAT one...I do not think it is the Seagate 3rd party HD because I did a hardware test, and repaired permissions, and it's fine. I can access, view, & save to the folders on that HD - it does mount. I just can't seem to get the OS to run...or find it as the start up. I've tried all the suggested fixes off this website - like resetting the pram, startup w/ shift held down...ran disc utility...nothing worked.
Is there a way to avoid having to reinstall Tiger? I did run the install disc...and I thought I had 3 options (such as a repair) but all it did was try to install the program like it was from scratch...I think my problem may lie w/ photoshop and or itunes - because I had problems right before I stopped being able to get into my Startup disc (seagate)....like I can't Save for Web..in photoshop. I think there may be a file missing in one of the folders, but I'm not sure how, I don't go moving around files - and I didn't alias or move anything either..SO i may delete photoshop and reinstall it or something...It's such a pain to backup all mysettings (like entourage) and so on...but if I have to of course I will. I've already backed everything up.
Is a reinstall of OSX what's in order here? Should I get Tech Tool Pro or Disk Warrior? I read that either of these would be good to have regardless...which is better?
Thanks in advance for your help, it is much appreciated!
    Valerie

Well, I tried both method's...dr. smoke, your method confused me in respect to one thing...the second step after running the disk utility to repair the disk...which was loging into your user account to then repair permissions...how can i do this step if i can't get into my startup disc and into my account? So I logged into my OTHER account on my second HD and ran permissions and followed the rest of your manual exactly...w/ no luck...
Also tried to check out if startup/login items were to blame, but I could not boot up in safe-mode either...I just get the same thing -gray screen wheels spinning.
SO i decided to get DiskWarrior...and unfortunately that didn't work...i could say that money was spent for nothing but I'm sure it'll be useful in other ways based on reading the manual. I compared my old files to the new ones..and they were pretty identical so I didn't notice anything wrong...so I did replace the directoy w/ the new one...
Any other suggestions on a fix here? Again I cannot login to my Startup User Account...
As of now, I've copied all my folders and files over as best as I could...should I delete them and use the migration assistant? Should I just reinstall OS X, make necessary updates, and then copy my user files and other preference files (I DO NOT want to LOSE MY PHotoshop SETTINGS it would be a major setback for me). I'm also nervous about losing my Aperture photo library...which I saw was in my users folder under application data....is it all safe? I just want to be sure before I go ahead and erase my Startup disk...i think formating it would be a good idea - especially since I don't know how many times i've had to do a hard boot when trying to startup from that disk w/ no luck...
regardless, I have not had any HD issues...(other than a small/minor repair that was done after I couldn't get into the startup)...
is it better to use migration assistant, or to just drag and drop my folders & applications back into the newely restored OS X Startup?
sorry for all the questions, just want to be sure everything goes smoothly!
    Thanks again!

  • Problems with Startup Manager

I started having frequent crashes on my Powerbook G4 running OS 10.3.9. I wanted to verify the hard disk, so I booted off of the only installation CD I could find (an old 10.1 CD). Booting off this disk worked initially and I launched Disk Utility. For some reason, however, the 'repair' and 'verify' buttons were grayed out when I selected my laptop's hard disk.
The problem has since gotten worse. I rebooted and now the blinking question mark comes up telling me it can't find a startup disk even though the CD is in the drive. I held down option to access the startup manager, but no icons appear there -- neither my hard disk nor the installation CD. It's just the refresh arrow and the right arrow with nothing in between. I've tried ejecting and reinserting the CD while startup manager was running. I hit the circular arrow to refresh. I've tried zapping the PRAM. I've held down X during startup. I've also tried holding C with the CD in. Nothing seems to work.

  • Problem with startup and Finder

I'm having some slight issues when my MacBook starts up. First, over the last couple of days I've noticed it starts up about a minute slower than it used to. Also, on login, I briefly get a completely blue screen for a few seconds before my desktop picture loads. These two things would not be terribly significant except that my computer used to start up quickly and always loaded the desktop picture instantly, and only recently has that changed. Finally, the major indicator that something is wrong is that every time my computer starts up, a Finder window opens, even if I did not shut down with a Finder window open or in any way tell my computer to show a Finder window on login. Can anyone suggest a reason why I'm having these issues or offer any suggestions for speeding up my startup time, preventing the blue screen from delaying my desktop picture, and not immediately displaying a Finder window without provocation? I'd appreciate any ideas.

  • Problems with startup after software update

I have just done a software update on my system, and now going back to my computer 2 hours later and turning it on, all I get is the grey screen with the apple and dial spinning...........
Also the fans in the tower are going nuts.
Is this normal for updates since leopard, seeing as I have never had this happen to me before

No, that's not normal. It could be hardware. Shutdown.
    Run Apple Hardware Test:
    1. Disconnect all external devices from your iMac except the keyboard and mouse.
If you have an Ethernet cable connected, disconnect it.
    2. Insert the Mac OS X Install Disc 1 that came with your iMac.
    3. Restart your iMac and hold down the D key as your iMac starts up.
    4. When the Apple Hardware Test chooser screen appears, select the language
    appropriate for your location.
    5. Press the Return key or click the right arrow button.
    6. When the Apple Hardware Test main screen appears (after about 45 seconds), follow
    the onscreen instructions.
    7. Apple Hardware Test displays an error code if it detects a problem. Make a note of the
error code before pursuing support options.

I have already added the photos and I would not format .. thanks

    Alberto,
David is correct remove the HP software you installed, you can use AppCleaner to help you do that.
Next do a software update to ensure you have the most up-to -date software for your iMac. Then follow the Connect Your Printer instructions and see if your AIO is found. If it is then you will know it's a supported printer. If it does not find your AIO then download the latest HP Drivers and again try the Connect your Printer link.
