  • Problem with the sleep function

    I just purchased my macbook pro 15 inch in July - the first MAC I had. I got a MAC because of all the problems with my pc's in the past and everyone telling me how wonderful they are. Well.... I have had it in the shop 2 times already and ready for a 3rd time. When I put the computer to sleep it is random if it will wake up. I can open the lid and the keyboard will be lit but the screen will be black and nothing will bring the screen up. Another issue is that sometimes when I open the screen the keys will be lighted but after a few seconds the computer will shut off itself. The last time it was in the shop they replaced everything except the hard drive and it would have cost $1600 if it wasn't under warranty. That just isn't acceptable to me. Now it is doing the same things again - again it is random, sometimes it works fine. I have to make another appt now with the genius bar but anyone know why this could be happening? I'm thinking of asking for a new computer - maybe this one is a lemon? Sugestions?

    Apple has no published, hard and fast policy on replacing Macs that can't be repaired satisfactorily. Anecdotally, it seems that after at least three or four failed attempts to repair the same problem in a machine, Apple considers replacing it. But it's all decided case-by-case and is highly discretionary.

  • Problem with the sleep button

    Hello, my iphone only works when its plugged into the my computer. The instant I unplug it the screen goes black and flashes the apple logo for about 5 seconds on and off nonstop. It did this for the whole night and the battery was almost drained when I plugged it in the next morning after being fully charged. I believe the problem is with my sleep button, I think the phone thinks the button is pressed in all the time, but I can't be sure. The button still feels just fine, but I can't think of any reason why it would suddenly do this, I haven't downloaded anything onto it for weeks now, and I haven't ever dropped it. Any help on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

    Call 1800-MY-IPHONE and they can send you a box (free) to send it back to them (free) and if it is covered they will replace for free and send back. If you have an old phone around that accepts SIM cards you can use your SIM from your iPhone (they will tell you to take it out) in your old phone while your iPhone is out to them. Then put back in when you get phone back.

  • Problems with my sleep function

    When my computer goes to sleep the power shuts off. Or, sometimes it will go to sleep and when I try to wake it(the sleep light is flashing) it kills it. The power goes out. The problem started about 3 week ago when I reformatted it. Please help me. I am running 10.4.7. I have 512 MB of RAM.
    I have searched the board and can't find a solution.

    Ray, had almost the exact problem with my Rev. A and the unit fell under the repair extension program. Apple replaced the power supply and the problem was solved. I took it to a genius and the Apple service was great. Half hour from the time I arrived to the time I left.

  • Problems with statement cache using OCI

    Hello!
    We recently changed our program to use statement cache, but we found a problem and not yet a solution.
    We have problems in this situation:
    OCIEnvCreate();
    OCIHandleAlloc();
    OCILogon2(..... OCI_LOGON2_STMTCACHE);
    OCIStmtPrepare2("CREATE TABLE db_testeSP (cod_usuario INTEGER, usuario CHAR(20), dat_inclusao DATE)")
    OCIStmtExecute();
    OCIStmtRelease(... OCI_DEFAULT);
    OCIStmtPrepare2("INSERT INTO db_testeSP (1,\'user\',CURRENT_DATE");
    OCIStmtExecute();
    OCIStmtRelease(... OCI_DEFAULT);
    OCIStmtPrepare2("SELECT * FROM db_testeSP");
    OCIStmtExecute();
    OCIStmtRelease(... OCI_DEFAULT);
    OCIStmtPrepare2("DROP TABLE db_testeSP");
    OCIStmtExecute();
    OCIStmtRelease(... OCI_DEFAULT);
    OCIStmtPrepare2("CREATE TABLE db_testeSP (cod_usuario INTEGER, usuario CHAR(20), idade INTEGER, dat_inclusao DATE)");
    OCIStmtExecute();
    OCIStmtRelease(... OCI_DEFAULT);
    OCIStmtPrepare2("INSERT INTO db_testeSP (1,\'user\',20,CURRENT_DATE");
    OCIStmtExecute();
    OCIStmtRelease(... OCI_DEFAULT);
    OCIStmtPrepare2("SELECT * FROM db_testeSP");
    OCIStmtExecute();
    OCIStmtRelease(... OCI_DEFAULT);
    On the second Select (wich is in bold), returns -1 from Execute, and if I get the error with OCIErrorGet I have: ORA-00932 - inconsistent datatypes
    Researching I discovered that this is statement cache problem, is there a way to clear the cache of one table ? I'm asking this because I could clear whenever there is a DROP TABLE or ALTER TABLE instruction (but I don't know what statements will need to be cleared from the cache). I can't clear all the cache because I may have other statements from other tables on the cache.
    This situation above is just an example, but I think that this will cause other problems too.
    Our program is a gateway from the main program and database, so I don't know the SQL instructions before executing. How can we resolve this problem?
    I have tested this issue with Oracle 10g (10.2.0.4.0) and 11g (11.2.0.1.0) both 64 bits and the result is the same (the OCI is version 11.2.0).
    We appreciate any help.
    Thanks in advance,
    Daniel

    After long time searching for answers, apparently this is expected to happen and the program should not use Statement caching in this situation.
    I found this on an Oracle document (Tuning Data Source Connection Pools - 11g Release 1 (10.3.6)) and we will need to review the use of statement caching.
    Stay as a tip for others who might be in the same situation.

  • Do you have problems with your sleep button on white iPhone 5?

    I got my iPhone 5 on Nov. 2nd. Since then Im in love with it. But in January something started to bug me. It was the sleep button which wasn't that much responsive. Even though i am holding on to it it was not functioning. My phone could't get turned off, i had to aait for my battery to die. So i got it changed. I waited for 25 days to get my new phone. Now, im with the new one from yesterday. But to tell you the truth, it feels like January and i feel like this sleep button will go bad soon. And the phone is just a day old! I haven't ever dropped it. Its always in its bumper case with protector stickers onfront and back and i always take good care of my devices

    the problem is that I have already done that once. I waited for the current phone i have for 25 days to get it changed. I had to use my old 3GS meanwhile. I dont want to do it again. Also, the people from the store would probably think that I do something on purpose and my sleep button is fine, it's just me who breaks it.
    Right now, to be exact - it's not broken yet. But I can tell that it's really soft compared to my girlfriend's Black iPhone 5 which is kind of hard to press while mine is kind of hollow. Her's is kind of projecting. This is what happened with my sleed button right before I went to the store for the first time because first it wasn't that bad but I knew something was wrong, then **** happened. So yeah.

  • Problem with screensaver/sleep

    Ever since upgrading to Snow Leopard a few months ago, I have had a host of problems. I have given up on the freezing issue, since I've read through these forums a lot, tried practically everything, and nothing has worked.
    But this is a problem I can't seem to find on other posts. Instead of my computer screen dimming, going to screensaver, then after a while to sleep as it is set up to do, it will dim and then quickly go straight to sleep. When it does this, it will not wake up. I will touch the trackpad and the cursor will show up, but the screen remains black. I am forced to reboot. Combined with the freezing issue, this can lead to several reboots a day.
    Because I don't want to mess with the settings for screensaver and sleep too much, I just run Caffeine when I am using my computer. I don't see this as a permanent solution, obviously. A computer needs to sleep.

    I have had the same problem since upgrading to 10.6.2 I have had my laptop for over 6 months and have never had this problem. I install 10.6.2 and now I have the problem 3-5 times a day. Once my my display/computer go to "sleep" I often have to reboot. This isn't even from shutting the lid, I generally keep the lid up and the power plug in. I found a bunch of sleep issue dealing with closing the lid, but I am not sure if the fixes for that are the same since my issue is not necessarily associated with closing the lid.
    Anyway, one of the suggestions is to go into the Energy Saver prefs and uncheck the "wake for network access" option and the "automatically reduce brightness before display goes to sleep option" I just tried this today so time will tell if it works or not,

  • Problem with statement after upgrading to 11g

    Hello,
    We recently upgraded to 11g from 9i and one of our statements we routinely use no longer works. The statement is:
    delete from ALLEMPLOYEES x where exists( (select * from ALLEMPLOYEES where email_id=x.email_id) minus (select * from X_ALLEMPLOYEES where email_id=x.email_id));
    This statement deletes no rows from the ALLEMPLOYEES table. When we run this statement as a check:
    (select * from ALLEMPLOYEES) MINUS (select * from X_ALLEMPLOYEES);
    We find many rows produced. Why would the delete fail now? We have colleagues still using 9i and use this same delete statement and it works for them with no trouble.

  • Problem with state machine

    Hi! I've got a VI intended to control a storage tank. I've tried to do that by creating a simple state machine that changes the value(on/off) of some valves basing on 2 conditions:
    -when a certain temperature reaches a pre-set value AND its derivative is <0, the state must change from on to off,
    -when some time passes the state must change from off to on.
    Unfortunately I can't get this work as it never changes state (e.g if I start with on always remain on "on" and viceversa).
    Could you please tell me what I'm doing wrong? I'm attaching the screenshots of the 2 states.
