Problem with syncing after installing Leopard 10.5.8

I have a PowerBook G4. I just installed Leopard 10.5.8. Ran all the available updates and so far there are a few bugs that I can't fix. I need some help please.
1. When syncing to mobileMe, the computer gets caught in a loop and the round arrows at the top right of the screen never stops spinning. Also, when you bring the pointer to the top of the page, it seems frozen and the wheel starts. The time has also frozen.
2. When syncing to iTunes with my iPhone, it also gets stuck in that sync loop.
I'm assuming that there is something going on with MobileMe or with syncing. I can't find anything on this. Can anyone shed some light.

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
See if the Disk is issuing any S.M.A.R.T errors in Disk Utility...

Open Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities, select All Processes & sort on CPU%, any indications there?
How much RAM & free space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for action in Safe Mode...
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed. Also look in System Preferences' Other row.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

Problem with chess after installing Leopard

The other week I did an Archive and Install of Leopard on my MacBookPro running Tiger. Several applications failed to work following the install and this has been solved by downloading new versions. Although chess seems to be more problematic. Every time I launch chess I just get a message saying that chess has unexpectedly quit. However this behaviour is starting to become expectable. I have read other posts reporting similar problems after installing Leopard however they are able to play a couple of moves before it quits. For me chess does not even launch.
I have tried trashing the preference file, creating and using a new user account, and copying chess from another computer. The copied application just states that I can not use chess with this version of OSX.
Does anyone have any ideas as I really do not want to have to reinstall Leopard just for a application I only use when very bored (which is surprisingly often).

I have deleted my copy of chess and reinstalled a new copy from the OSX Leopard install disk and it still fails to launch.
Any other ideas?

Problem with power after installing Leopard

After doing a fresh install of Leopard in my Macbook Pro I got a problem when a shut down the computer. Instead of shutting down it goes to sleep. The same thing occurred when I tried to restart the computer.
This type of error occurred sometimes not always, but very often. I have to press down the power botton for a couple of seconds to be able to turn it on again.
I read in the forum that some people are having the same type of problem. Have you found a solution to this? I tried reseting the SMC but nothing happened.
I running Leopard 10.5.1

Someone?? Please I need help. Does anyone know about this problem??

Problems hotsynching addresses after installing Leopard

I've had no problem synching my Tungsten E2 before, but after installing Leopard on my MacBook, the addresses are no longer synching either from my Mac to my handheld or vice versa. The calendar seems to be synching just fine. There's nothing wrong with my conduit setting and the messages tell me the synch "has worked" but obviously it hasn't--there's no changes in either address book. I have addresses both on the computer and the handheld now which don't exist on the other, so I don't want to do a complete override.
I called Palm Tech support and plunked down my $14.95 and the woman there could only tell me to check my conduit settings, something I had already done. No help there.
Also, there are some addresses that are more up to date and correct on one device or on the computer and I can't figure out how to compare the two so I can choose the most recent changes to be the "master."
I'd love any help you can give me. the first problem, obviously is more pressing!

Same here with a Centro/ palm phone from Verizon. It's picking up the phone numbers, but leaving nothing for the addresses. It was working fine with synching both addresses and numbers, but it seems like after the latest update, it dropped the addresses. Will be searching other forums for an answer. Using a MacBook Pro with 10.5.5. (Although registering for this forum I could only chose 10.4 as my operating system. Come on Palm... you do know Apple has released a new OS, don't you?)

Has anyone experienced problems with Outlook after installing Mavericks?

Has anyone else experienced problems using Microsoft Outlook after installing Mavericks? The computer seems to want to continue reloading emails.

Problems with FCP after Snow Leopard Installation

I'm editing canon 5d footage in FCP. I use MPEG Streamclip to properly convert the footage before importing to fcp. Everything was working absolutely fine until I installed snow leopard. Now, all of the clips in the timeline have those weird lines as if I imported the footage without converting it. I have a deadline and if I have to re-edit this entire project it's not going to be pretty. I have installed all of the updates for FCP and Snow Leopard. I tried a test by creating a new batch in MPEG streamclip and the footage is fine. It appears that I might have to re-edit everything.   Can someone PLEASE offer some assistance? I can't afford to re-edit this project.

Yes... I am aware of the canon plug in for converting 5d/7d footage. I either use that plug in or MPEG stream clip and they both have been working fine.   "Properly" meaning... FCP does not recognize H.264 (5d and 7d) therefor we need to convert the video using either MPEG stream clip or the free canon plug in. The best codec to edit this footage is ProRes 422LT ProRes422 - I only use the 5d and or 7d cameras for my projects and have been editing this way for some time without any problems what so ever. The problems immediately arose after upgrading to Snow Leopard. The problem lies in my EXISTING FCP projects that are already in the works. I am still able to convert footage for new projects without a problem. I am using the latest updated versions of SL and FCP. I did the following to trouble shoot:
1. Did a clean reinstall of FCP - STILL HAPPENING
2. On an existing project I deleted a few of the problem clips. Took the original and converted it again using MPEG Stream clip. Renamed it and from the FCP project, I located the new clip. SAME PROBLEM
3. On an existing project, I deleted a few of the clips completely. Converted the original again using MPEG SC. Imported the entire new clip in FCP, re-edited it and dragged it into the time line. NO PROBLEM WORKS FINE
4. Opened a new project in FCP.   Took some of the original problematic clips. Converted them using MPEG SC. Dragged into the timeline. NO PROBLEM, WORKS FINE
5. Played both the original clips (before conversion) and the converted clips in Quick Time - NO PROBLEM WORKS FINE
6. Exported part of a problematic project to Quick Time - NO PROBLEM WORKS FINE
7. Opened up one of the same projects from the same hard drive on my other mac (Mac Book Pro) and there are NO PROBLEMS. THEY WORK FINE
Based on everything I've listed above, the problem seems to be happening in the Viewer and Canvas on my I-Mac which I just upgraded to Snow Leopard. The exported projects are fine. Am I to assume that I should continue working with these existing projects and everything will be fine? I've spoke to 5 or 6 friends that are experienced and no one can come up with an answer.

Problems with iWeb, after installing Lion

Hi,
Ever since I installed Lion, I have been having problems with iWeb. Any changes I make in iWeb, and then publish to my site, via mobileme, are not saved, and the site reverts to the orignial site, after closing the website, and iWeb also loses the cahnges. I am unable to sue the Publish Site button, and the option for Publish Site changes is not available.
I am using iLife 11.
These problems have only occurred since I installed Lion.
Any help greatly appreciated.

In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For opening your domain file in Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.

Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.

WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder. So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

Serious wifi problems with iMac after installing Mountain Lion

After installing Mountain Lion, I'm experiencing serious trouble with wifi. I noticed that some people had this before with Lion. Can anybody help to solve this problem or should I downgrade to Mountain Lion?

My phone wont't sync after installing Leopard 10.5.2

I have read the other topics about iSync that would'nt start, and how to drag the application to the desktop and back. My iSync has worked all time since installing Leopard on my MacBook Pro. The problem is that it won't sync the assingnment i have made in the Calender. It syncs contacts very well.
It worked all fine before Leopard. My phone is a Nokia E65 and i have redownloaded the plug-in from Nokia but it still won't sync the topics from the Calender.
I hope anyone out there has experienced the same and have a solution - thanks.

Problems with MBP after installing smcfancontrol

I decided to install smcfancontrol because the computer was getting a bit hot after installing extra ram. Right after installing the software I encountered problems. It was not responsive and when it does, the fans would stay at its minimum rpm even after heavy load. I uninstall the software and the problem is still there. Fan's rpm will not increase as temperature rises.
I experimented by booting into windows and ran a game and I noticed that the fans were going faster. But when I reboot back into os X it doesn't reboot at all, I get the boot sound but it doesn't load and the screen is dark. I would have to press the power button to shut it off and turn it on again. I then decided to reinstall os X and to my dismay, the problem is still there!
Any Suggestions?

booted with install cd, ran the hardware diagnostic program and everything came out good. The fans rpm was higher as I was running the diagnostic program. I assume that firmware is not corrupted and it has more to do with the OS. Btw, is it normal for the computer to run at 60c and have the fan run at around 2000rpms? Is it possible to have some traces of the old OS left after a fresh install?
Edit: I got the computer to run in heavy load and after the cpu temp got to 65c the fans started kicking in. Guess it's back to normal. I was used to seeing the fan start running faster at around 60c

Problem with MMC after installing ARGO

Hello,
after installing ARGO I got in trouble with my Microsoft SAPMMC control panel. It does not working properly anymore. The MMC is not reponding when clicking yes for the question of converting the data to the new mmc version.
I have already installed one portal NW04s and three portals NW04.
Has anyone an idea how to solve this issue?

Hi Olaf,
maybe there is something wrong with your sapmmc.msc configuration. You can try to create a new one by following these steps:
Start mmc.exe
Choose File -> Add/Remove Snap in... -> Standalone tab -> Add...
Select SAP Systems Manager
Place a checkmark into all checkboxes in the General Settings window and select Use fixed SAP Instance list. Press Next
Select Remote Administration Communication Security level "Low" and press Next
Press Finish
If this does not help, you could try switching off Always show local SAP instances at the fourth step above and add the instances manually in the Fixed instance list (last step).
Finally, save your new MMC configuration.
Hopefully this solves the problem.

Problems with flash after installing studio 8

I have used firefox for months now with no problem.
My web site has an intro page that is flash. I installed studio 8
and now the flash won't work. What happened. I works on my laptop
with IE and no studio 8. suggestions. I've tried uninstalling, but
not sure if I ever got it uninstalled... in fact some of the
programs never let me have the choice to uninstall. I reloaded
firefox... nothing seem to be working ... Help

firefox
previous to installing studio 8? The only cause for a site to
fail in
firefox after installing the studio that comes to my mind is
that the studio
installation updated your flash player and your site has
issues with that
version of the player. If that is the case, you would need to
look into what
is causing the site to fail in more recent versions of the
player since your
site visitors may also be experiencing this problem--rather
than looking for
a problem on your system. Posting a url to your site would
allow others here
to test it--helping to determine whether the problem is
specific to your

Problems with safari after installing Windows 8

After installing Windows 8 , i can't access some websites in Safari
For example i can't login on Binck bank or a webshop
After fill the login details the program file runs , but the login screen remain and the login details diappaers and gone white.
This is on a few websites where i have to use login details but on others such as webmail acounts it works normal.
I have set up safari again and again without succes
What can i do to solve this?

Use IE, FireFox, or Chrome and see if the problem remains. My experience is that Safari has never worked well on Windows.

Anyone else having problems with Mail after installing Mountain Lion?

Since upgrading to mountain lion, I have had a number of problems with Mail. At the moment, it is predominantly when my desktop imac goes to sleep overnight. In the morning, it will not receive mail. The app will not close, so I force quit it. Trying to reopen Mail after that just does not happen, so I have to restart my machine to get things going again. Any tips?

If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partitirion & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

8, i can't create Recordset. I press the button and nothig is

Sounds to me like the extension overwrote the Dreamweaver
recordset code.
Extension developers should never never do that .. but a few
do
unfortunately.
If you're on a windows machine, try going to C:\Documents and
Settings\yourname\Application Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8\
and throw away
the User Configuration folder. The next time Dreamweaver is
opened, it will
generate a new User Configuration folder for you (make sure
you have your
extensions saved somewhere as it will be a clean
configuration folder) and
you should be all right.
If the main recordset code was overwritten, you will have no
choice but to
uninstall DW8 and reinstall it from a CD or fresh download.
