Problem with the Apple Discussions

When I'm logged into the Apple Discussions, it says I have 2 unresolved questions. When I click, My Questions, it says I have no unresolved questions. When I DO have 1 question, it says I have 3 unresolved questions.

We often see this problem when questions are asked in a pre-release forum and it does not receive an answer before we close that area. We have a member of our staff looking through older removed forums trying to clear out these unanswered questions that authors can no longer access.

    You can't do what you want with iCloud.  You will need to setup remote access to your main computer with VPS or some similar remote access application.   With VPS you have an application running on your main computer turning it into a server and an client app on your laptop so you can access it remotely.  There are many such apps out there, some probably more feature filled than VPS.  You might post in the system forum that you're running and ask there.

    That means it is having trouble connecting to the network. Make sure location is set correctly. Go to settings - general - network and ensure DNS is set to automatic. Check that your router is up to date. If on wifi try Ethernet.

  • Weird problem with the apple tv (3rd gen) playing choppy iTunes Music

    I have a weird problem with the apple tv(3rd gen) when i use my macbook pro to play itunes music via airplay the music is extremely choppy however that only happens if I have both my mac and apple tv connected to the same 5 ghz band on my dual band wifi network if i switch either one of my mac or apple tv to the 2.4 ghz band it works fine. I would like to find a solution instead of having to do this work around because i prefer my 5 ghz band for both my mac and apple tv and have my other things connected to my 2.4 ghz.

    5 GHz, so far as I'm aware transfers no more data than 2.4 Ghz. There are other things involved that might help data through volume such as the wifi standard or dual width channels, but essentially if you compare like for like they are they same for the amount of data they can send. The main advantage of 5GHz is that it's less susceptible to interference and potentially more private.
    It's possible that you have different issues on each band, I couldn't say at this time but have you checked for interference.

    Whenever I get email messages like this they are accompanied by emails that are identical but with references to valid URLs.
    In addition, the "update" notifications are bogus. For example, you can see by checking the relative dates of the quoted message above and this post that there have in fact been no updates made to those discussion topics in the intervening time period.
    Since these bugs are effectively generating alot of spam, I'm surprised not to see a flood of posts complaining about this.

  • Safari & Firefox having problems with the Apple Store

    Hi there,
    I'm having issues using the Apple Store I'd really appreciate some help with. Whenever I go there, whether I'm using Firefox or Safari, I always get a pop-up menu come down, even when I haven't clicked on anything. And it won't go away, so I can't see alot of the stuff on the site, making it unusable. It's best described by a screen shot:

    The box on the right comes up without me clicking on anything, the activity wheel at the top of it never changes into anything (just keeps spinning round) and there is no 'close' or 'cancel' button to make it go away. If you look at the bottom of the pop-up, you can see it doesn't even render properly.
    I called the Apple Store number about this and he said to clear all my private data. I have done that in Safari, as it's not my main browser so doesn't matter to me. In Firefox I have only partially done this; I cleared all cookies, the cache, browsing history, download history, saved form information and authenticated sessions. Neither worked to make the pop-up box go away. I could not face clearing saved passwords or saved sessions (with my Tab Mix Plus add-on) in Firefox, so I'm going to try anything else I can think of to solve this before resorting to that.
    I'm guessing this is some problem in the overall system, rather than in either of the browsers, given that they both do it. Would something like Onyx or Cocktail help?
    Also, both my browsers are quite old; Firefox is 1.5.0.6 and Safari is 2.0.4... I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but I'm hoping not. With alot of plug-ins and an already overloaded computer, I'd rather not update to the more processor-intensive new versions. I want a new computer soon, so I'm hoping I can put-off updating til then.
    So if anyone can tell me what to do, I'd be most grateful. I really need to use the Apple Store to look into what Mac to get to upgrade, and right now I just can't shop properly.

  • Problems with the Apple ProTraining Series Logix Exp book

    I'm trying to learn this stuff, but the lessons in the Training Series book give instructions to do things in menus that seem not to exist in Logic Express. Is this a function of the book serving both Pro and Express versions and not differentiating the possibilities? Or are the books out of date?
    Specifically, page 127 it tells me to choose Region>Split/Demix> etc, but that split/demix command is not offered.

    The docs that come with LE and the ones available from the Apple site, etc. are definitely screwed up. As I plod slowly through yet another PDF I am constantly finding things that do not work as described in LE and then stumble sideways through the secret undocumented menu trap door that allows the desired function. I refuse to spend money on third party docs. LE is an amazing deal for $300, tack on an additional $100-$200 for information that should come with the program and it becomes less of a deal. I can't speak about the Sitter programs being helpful or not because I haven't used them, a lot of people on this forum seem to dig them, but I'm sorry to hear that it's not helping you. Nonetheless, this is not rocket science and I have faith in everybody's ability to learn LE if they really want to. It's just a program. When you can't figure something out call Apple if you're still covered for free tech help. If not, search this forum and then post a question if you have to. Some posters will give you the RTFM treatment, some will take the time to answer your question. There's nothing wrong with using GB either if that's what works most efficiently for you. Or you can be ambidexterous and use both.

    Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
    Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
    Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
    Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
    Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... (But can take Longer..)
    Release the Buttons...
    If no joy...Reset all settings
    Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
    This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.

  • What is the problem with the Apple ID?

    Over the past year Apple forced me to reset my password about seven times.  I am getting sick of the issue.  The system constantly tells me the password email combination is not correct.  If I try the security questions they are not correct.  I kept the same email address for the past fifteen years.  I write down the password and security questions on paper because Apple forces you to associate a credit card with your ID.  The next time I try to do something it is the same all over again.  WHAT IS THE PROBLEM APPLE?

    The information about the credit card is useful.  I deleted my credit card information.  That shows how frequently I log into my Apple ID.  Originally, maybe decades ago, you could not get an online Apple ID without associating a credit card.  I never bothered to check if that requirement changed.  I remember it very distinctly because it upset me that they required a credit card number.  Other Apple product users in my family (previously four) remember the requirement.  While all four members of our family still use iPhones everyone else has migrated back to PCs after years of using Apple laptops and iMacs.
    Unfortunately, your answer does not help anything else.  There are frequently long spans of time, days - weeks, between my attempts to log-in to my Apple ID.  I am definitely not logged into the account when I get the message that the ID and password do not match.
    I am also aware that these are user to user forums. Just because I ended with "WHAT IS THE PROBLEM APPLE?" does not mean I expect Apple to reply.  It is a rhetorical question.  I do not expect anything from Apple unless I am willing to pay through the nose for it.
    I understand that grammar is no longer a consideration in the American conversation but is should be Apple is not "Apple are".

  • Last night i downloaded two t.v. shows and it took over 8 hours.  Is there a problem witht the apple server?

    Last night it took 8 hours to download two t.v. show, and today it says it will take 8 hours to download the lastest upgrade to ITunes.  Is there a problem with the apple server?  I am not having problems downloading from any other web site and i have excellent wireless strength and a very fast download servive from Verizon.

    Are you going over Wi-Fi or do you have an ethernet cable plugged in to the ATV?  If ethernet, unplug it and reconnect the ATV using Wi-Fi and re-run the update.  There is a known bug regarding updating the ATV with ethernet, using Wi-Fi fixes it.  I had this problem on my brand new ATV and after searching the web I found this resolution, and it worked.  After the update (which took about 20 minutes total) the ATV rebooted itself, I then shut it down, reconnected with my ethernet cable, and now all is well.

    I recieved an error message during the purchase of an album, stating there was a problem with the apple store purchase. It led me to believe that the purchase did not go through, aas it never downloaded. A susequent purchase did go through and downloaded. How dod I retrieve the lost purchase?

    They might just be temporary holding charges which will disappear off your card within a few days or so.

    For your credit card not being accepted (it is a credit card, not a debit card ?), then is the address on your iTunes account exactly the same (format and spacing etc) as on your credit card bill : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1646 ? If it is then you could try what it says at the bottom of that page :
    If the issue persists, contact your credit card company and verify that they and any company they use to process credit card authorisations have the correct information on file.
