Problem with the Non-English Characters

Hello,
I have been using Adobe Illustrator  but I have a huge problem with the non-english characters with Standart Fonts. With the Professional font's I have no problem with them. But when I'm using any standart font in font folio library I cannot type any "ğ-İ-ş". I can add those letters in fontlab with the glyphs (scedilla, idotaccent, gbreve). Most of the fonts have those letters already prepeared so I dont even have to redraw. But I can't add those glyph to every single font because I dont have that kind of time and patience. Is there any better solution for this? Or is there any font folio pack that all fonts are PRO.
I'm looking forward for your answers
Thanks.

Joel wrote: I'm told that this is the exact difference between Adobe's Standard and Pro fonts — the Pro fonts have additional glyphs, including those necessary for extended Latin script.
Exactly. The Pro fonts have at a minimum the Adobe Western 3 character set, which is essentially western European + Adobe CE.
> Standard fonts just have the basic English character set, with maybe a bit of help for Spanish and French.
A lot more than that!
> You're doing Turkish, right? Adobe's coverage for Turkish in its fonts is not great - some of the Pro fonts have Turkish coverage, many do not.
This is false. Every single Adobe Pro font supports Turkish.
To be clear:
All Adobe Standard fonts support the following languages: Afrikaans, Basque, Breton, Catalan, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, Gaelic, German, Icelandic, Indonesian, Irish, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Sami, Spanish, Swahili and Swedish.
Adobe Pro fonts support those languages, plus AT LEAST: Croatian, Czech, Estonian, Hungarian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Romanian, Serbian (Latin), Slovak, Slovenian and Turkish. Some Pro fonts have more language support than this, such as Greek and/or Cyrillic, and additional extended Latin.

  • 0CUSTOMER_TEXT - problem with the cyrillic (ukrainian) characters

    Hello,
Within the framework of Ukrain deployment, I try to extract customer texts (0CUSTOMER_TEXT) and I meet a problem with the cyrillic (ukrainian) characters. All of them are replaced by a '#' (into the table /BI0/TCUSTOMER & into the PSA too).
From SAP marketplace source, customer text comes from KNA1-NAME1.
The funniest thing is that the cyrillic (ukrainian) characters extracted by 0CUSTOMER_ATTR are accurately uploaded and specially 0NAME attribute filled by the same r/3 field KNA1-NAME1.
FYI: I checked the configuration of RFC connections and for all of ABAP connections have the radiobutton UNICODE selected.
    Could someone help me?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Encoding non english characters with utf 8 on jsp (Critical!!)

I am inserting hebrew characters from JSP into oracle db and everything is fine until this point. But when I try to retrieve the information from the database, the characters are not displayed properly (I get some garbage characters). I am sure that the data stored in the database is correct, but not sure why there is a problem in displaying the data in the JSP.
I came across a thread on TSS
    http://www.theserverside.com/discussions/thread.tss?thread_id=28944
and followed the suggestions given there like having
    <%@ page contentType="text/html; charset=UTF-8" pageEncoding="UTF-8" %>
    <META http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">and also this
    <%
//Some JDBC and sql statement query UTF-8 data and then ...
    String str = rs.getString("utf8_data");
    str = new String(str.getBytes("ISO-8859-1"),"UTF-8");
    %>
<%= str %>Now, the data getting displayed is partly correct, I mean to say, some characters are still coming as squares.
Any ideas will be of great help.

even i doubt the database charset for this issue. But what I dont understand is how only certain hebrew characters are getting stored properly and why others are corrupted?
Also, can anyone let me know how i can view the Non-English characters present in the database directly, as TOAD is not able to display them

  • Entry of non-English characters into the db

    Hi
We are facing a problem in inserting non-English characters into the database. For example, we have a company name field which can accept German characters. This field has been defined as of varchar2 type of size 50 in the db. When we enter 49 English characters and then one German character, the database is throwing the error that the inserted value is too large for the column. Is it that the German character is taken as equivalent to two English characters ? Or is there any database level setting that can be done for this ? For the time being we have identified certain critical fields and have doubled the size of their fields in the db. But I guess there has to be another solution to this....
    Please help.

Indeed, your German character is using two bytes to store itself. Consult the Oracle JDBC Developer's Guide.

  • Support issue for non-English characters (in html forms)

    Hi group!
I just want to post an issue here and see if anyone else has the same problem. First off, Im running Windows XP MCE but the French version (not the english version). This may help find out where the problem really is.
Second, I know a bit of html and such, and I'm referring to HTML Character entities for this thread, there's a quite complete list here for reference: http://www.faqs.org/docs/htmltut/characterentitiesfamsupp69.html
I noticed that some, not all, non-English characters written in a textarea (which is, basically, a multi-lined input box) doesnt pass well or at all to the server when sending the form from Safari. Most of the time, the content of the text area is reduced to the beginning and ends where the first accentued character is met.
The most used French accents (&eacute;, &agrave;) are usually well interpreted (but may, once in a while, produce that bug too) by safari, but &ocirc; and &icirc; doesnt do that well.
Oddly, this bug doesnt happen all the time and doesnt "crash" in the same manner everytime.
So I started a thread just to see if there's anyone else having issues with any non-english characters mostly in forms. Probably flash/shockwave does work, but I'm not sure- I have not tested yet.

Yes, it is a known issue. I also noticed that it sometimes works, but most of the time it does not. It will hopefully be solved in the future. According to http://www.apple.com/safari/download/ changes that will come include:
    # Support for International users
    # International text input methods
    # Advanced text (contextual forms, international scripts)

  • Formatting non-English Characters in Database Extracts

    Hi
I am trying to create data flat file with Oracle SQL extracts. The data file is position based i.e. Position 1-30 for First Name, 31-50 for Last name, etc. I encountered problems when the data fields contain non-English characters. The position shift right by 1 with every non-English characters. For example, if there is one Spanish char in First Name, Last Name will start from 32, instead of 31. If there are two Spanish chars, Last Name will start from 33 (shift 2). Is there any way, in a database session, to restrict the formats of these text fields such that non-English characters will not affect the data field position in the flat files?
    Thanks in advance
    Jason

An alternative might be to tab or comma delimit your data.

  • Cfimage and non-english characters

I've been googling for hours and just can not find anything
related to this, very strange, I am trying to use ImageDrawText
draw Chinese onto an image but could never get it to work, tried so
many things, setting the page encoding to UTF-8, cfcontent,
setEncoding etc., it displays the Chinese fine on the page, but
passing it to the ImageDrawText method, writetobrowser gives me an
image with all square boxes instead of the chinese characters.
anyone else having same problem with other non-english
    languages?

serif? not sure where that's coming from. can you try "@Arial
    Unicode MS"?
unfortunately this is image work so you *have* to have a
    unicode capable font
physically available (unlike PDF/flashpaper where you might
    "poke & hope" that
the font's on the client & simply not embed the font).
    > Have also tried Lucida Sans Unicode, doesn't work for

    no it doesn't.

you can't, either have to add it via windows control panel
    (or whatever for
linux) or via cfadmin font management. see these for
    potential fonts, etc.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arial_Unicode_MS
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_software_Unicode_typefaces
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicode_typefaces
    http://scripts.sil.org/cms/scripts/page.php?site_id=nrsi&cat_id=FontDownloads
or you might simply ask your host what fonts are on the
    server that can support
    chinese.

  • Non english characters in DN cannot be retrieved

We are using Netscape directory server 4, protocal V3. We have a problem related to non-english characters appearing in RDN.
We publish to Ldap entries using the values from database. For example, we have pubulished an entry to Ldap, based on DB values, the entry should have a DN like: ou=Liege BELGIUM ... LGG1a, <other components of DN>. However, when we call netscape search API (search against uid attribute which does not have non-english characters), the search return the entry, but when further call getDN() method on the returned Ldap Entry, it only returns Li, instead of the complete DN value.
It seems the entry is corrupted in Ldap. I wanted to delete the corrupted entry and re create new one to test. I tried many ways, but none of them worked, I think it is because DN is corrupted, there is no key value to identify the Ldap entry for any operation(modify, delete).
You help and insights are much appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Han Shen

LDAP uses the UTF8 encoding. You must store data in the directory using the UTF8 encoding. This includes DN values. This also means that if you want to be able to view the values in your native character set and font, you must use an application that can convert the UTF8 LDAP data back to the native character encoding. The directory console by default should work for LATIN-1 (ISO 8859) languages if the LOCALE is set correctly.

  • Non-english characters in sqlplus

    Friends,
    9.0.1,10.2.0.1
CAn the non-english characters be displayed in sqlplus prompt?
I have to print the data with some hindi charcaters like name from the report generated via proc.
What is teh workaround for this?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I have RH Linux 7.3.
    Here is my situation.
I have some tables that have some columns. In these columns i need to store data in hindi.
The database character set(nls_characterset) is US7ASCII.
The datatypes of the columns is varchar2 type.
The tables are accessed through Pro*c and the proc code generates the report.
The data in these reports needs to be printed out and the corresponding data has to be in hindi.
So i have to do two things
    1) On query the tables, the user should see hindi data along with english data.
    2) The printed report should also contain hindi data.
    Questions:
    1) If i change the charcater set by the command:
    alter database character set AL32UTF8;
    and OS locale to UTF-8
Would these chnages solve the purpose?
    2) Or do i need to recreate the database with AL32UTF8 and exp/imp all the data?
    3)Any other advice/option?
    Thanks

  • Parsing Non English characters from OPEN DATASET

    Hi Team,
I'm try to download the .txt file using the OPEN DATASET in the windows environment from application server, system language is set up for English.
The problem is, in the .txt file some times I will be getting the non-English characters (Spanish). When I try to download the data into SAP it's not downloading properly eg: ñ when it downloaded into sap it took something like A+_.
My goal is I need to download the Spanish characters properly into sap.
Please advice how to solve this problem.
    Thanks,
    Selvaraj

    Hi Selvaraj!
I haven't checked the situation for 4.5B, nor can I predict exact behavior, but you can give following statement a try:
    SET LOCALE LANGUAGE lg.
This should even change content of sy-lange for whole role area (internal session), so change the value back afterwards.

  • Non English Characters do not appear as is while downloading in CSV

    Hi All,
My report output has some non english characters. Downloading the output in CSV the non english characters dont show as is, rather appear as *???*
I am using classic Report Template.
    How to overcome this?
Should I create a custom Report Template?
If Yes, then how to incorporate the custom template
    Thanks,
    Sombit

    Hi,
You can create a custom template using BI Publisher + RTF Template.
There you can set the font, graphs, ...
But you need commercial version of Oracle BI.
