Problem with Toast Titanium 9

I am trying to burn an HD DVD with Toast Titanium 9. It goes through the "Encoding" but refuses to burn the DVD and gives me a OS System error -50. I am using Fotomagico Pro to produce a slideshow to burn on the DVD. I found the error code which is a paramErr (Error in user parameter list). Where is the paramater list and how do I correct this error?

Please post Toast related questions on the Roxio forums.

  • DVD Quality With Toast Titanium 8 Help

how come when i download a movie and watch it on quicktime the quality of the video it perfect but when i burn it with Toast Titanium and watch it on my dvd player the quality isnt as good its kinda pixilated?
    thanks for the help

the pixel would probably be caused by:
    1. poor quality in burning (dvd/cd burner is old)
    2. "medium" transfer, the data goes through many process of in and out having quality lost in effect... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPEG-1
    3. original video size is small so it has to "crop" when shown in bigger screen

  • Problems with Toast

I'm trying to install Roxio Toast Titanium 6 on my machine from a CD. I'm completely aware that it's not a Mac application but so many mac users use it. It works fine when I'm operating directly from the CD, but I am unable to copy it onto my HD. When I attempt it says "the alias "butterlib" cannot be copied to theis destination because it doesn't support the alias." I considered that the burned version left something behind, but then realized that it worked directly off the CD. Can anyone provide some insight? thank you

Normally I'm using TOAST 11 for burning DVD's and after some test I found that this problem DOESN'T HAPPEN with TOAST 10 .....
I've informed Roxio Support Team and I'm waiting their feedback.
In the maentime I'll appreciate comments from the community as well.

  • I need help with Toast Titanium please!

    Hey everyone,
I didnt know where to post this so I figured here is good since you're all handy with video apps. I just got my unibody MBP and for some reason, whenever I try to burn something in Toast Titanium or Popcorn, it it stuck in the "Preparing" mode. iDVD has been burning fine, but the others applications are not. Can anyone figure this out?
    Thanks!

Which versions of those apps are you using and are they compatible with your computer's Intel processor?
You need at least Toast 7.1 or Popcorn 2.0 to run properly. Even then they might not be compatible with Mac OS X 10.5

  • Could not complete the last command : problem with toast 10

Hi, I am trying to burn blu ray content with Toast 10 Pro (blu-ray content burned to DVD). I have created the content (Quick Time movie) with FCP 7 (into an MOV file). And then added it to Toast 10. Then I tried to create disk image. It gave me this error:
could not complete the last command because there is a problem with the source material: Error code - 18771.
I tried to directly burn DVD also, and also not successful. Anybody has the same error and how to solve it?
Thanks a lot, and happy new year.

I posted some more experiences with using TOAST on Roxio forum. I thought I'd share them here.
    1. 98 video clip limit. I have been helping my parents and some friends to produce un-edited videos after their vacations, etc. And I quickly ran into this 98 video clip limit, to the point I had to produce multiple DVDs for them.
    2. Error 18771 issue. This happens if the individual video clips are too long. If I edit the video using FCP or FCE, and produce, say, half an hour of video, put it into a MOV file. Then add it into Toast. It will encounter this issue. So, the way I dealt with it, was to produce shorter video clips. So far it has been working out for me.
    3. Between video clips, I am not sure how to do transition. So far, between clips, there is this annoying pause. I would rather, either it just immediately jump to the next clip. Or, out of my own choice, insert some kind of transition. Not sure how to do that. If fellow toast users can point me in the right direction, that will be certainly appreciate it.
    4. I have not been able to get the Chapter Markers from FCP to effectively show up and be reflected in Toast as it defines the menus and chapters. Again, this may be because of my own lack of knowledge. If somebody can give me the pointer to do it, again, very much obliged.

  • Which blu-ray disc with Toast Titanium ?????

Does anyone know how I can burn a blu-ray DVD on my Mac computor ?? I have downloaded Toast Titanium with the blu-ray plug-in but when i insert the disc to burn (a blue ray verbatim recordable disc) it ejects and says "please put in a recordable disc"... Any ideas??? Please help ASAP !!!!

Make sure your drive supports Blu-ray (BD) burning (not just reading, but Writing).  BDROM is a READ ONLY device.  You could try burning the video to DVD as Blue-ray video though.  No need for BD if you don't need the size.  You could let Toast split it up for you over several DVD's.  I've done it.  Just make sure you have a player than can play blue-ray.
If it won't burn, check to see you've selected BD and not DVD at the bottom of the window; you could check the specs of your burner by clicking the copy button and selecting the information page of your burner.  Look for "Write Support" and check to see that the format matches the disc you put in.
Blu-ray DVD... ...There is such a thing and I've described it above.  Mooblie, Get your head out of your bum and do a little research.  Try not to misinform.  Blu-ray DVD is a finished product, not a physical media type; in that you are correct.  But don't sell burners on this site.  Try offering a solution they can use right away.
You can burn BLU_RAY (highdefinition) video to standard and DL DVD's.  TOAST will split it up for you over several if needed.  I've done it, and they work great, just don't expect miracles with the menus (they might end up showing at the start of every disc).  If you have multiple videos, like me with my vacation clips, you could just have them all show up in their own chapter, and TOAST will split the video between the Files.  High-Definition across multiple discs, but a great way to get out one copy and have it ready to show off.  About 30min per DVD and just over an hour per DL DVD.

  • Burning photo CD with Toast Titanium 7

I tried to post to Roxio discussions, but there was very little Mac activity there, so even though this is probably as much a Toast problem as a Mac one, I'm hoping someone can help me. I also tried to download the "patch" Titanium 7.0.1 but failed (that's a 66MB file and my internet connection is dial-up).
I'm trying to burn jpegs created in PhotoShop CS onto a CD-R or RW. Of the 36 jpegs, a few of them turn up as readable openable jpegs, but most come through as applications my computer doesn't recognize. There's also a bewildering array of other files turning up on the burned CD that I never put there, e.g, a folder marked "SEGMENT" full of ITEM0001.DAT; files called VCD, CDI, MPEGAV.
Here's what I've tried so far: change name of photo; try jpg and jpeg; try no after-the-period abbreviation; shorten name of photo still more by using a single-digit number (with and without .jpg).
Here's the most common "Kind" listed on these unreadable CDs: "Unix Executable File."
Roxio has been basically a non-stop headache. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion to burn the disk using the finder. However, when i insert a blank CD into the (La Cie) burner, the disc doesn't show up on the desktop. I can open iTunes and click Burn Disc, and it will burn. Or I can open Toast and drag files there for burning, but that's it.
    Other ideas?
    Thanks.

  • Question;Will Toast Titanium work with new'SnowLeopard?

So I do have Toast 7.....will it work? do I need some kind of 'upgrade on my Toast Titanium for it to work with Snow L??? thx in advance! Larry

I've burned a couple of CDs with Toast Titanium 8 with success since installing SL. Haven't tried DVDs yet. However, I had no luck with Tivo Transfer portion of Toast 8. Sounds like that is what other users are experiencing as well. I might have to bite the bullet and upgrade to Version 10.

  • Toast titanium stopped working

Recently updated my old Mac Book Pro with the Mac Box Set. I am using an external DVD burner. Yesterday I tried to burn a DVD but Toast Titanium 6 will not start. Tried installing the software that the external unit came with (Toast Titanium 9) but the OS will not let it install.  Is any one having the same problem?

  • Putting an iPhoto slideshow on DVD with Toast

    Hello
I have a LaCie DVD burner, bought from the Apple shop in London with Toast Titanium 6. I want to save an iPhoto slideshow to DVD. Problem is, every time I try to drag a song from the Finder to Toast, I get the message that I do not have a valid Jam license.
Can anyone please explain this to me? I am wondering if the Apple shop may have sold me the wrong product for my iBook!
    Thanks...

PS. I can now get both slide-show and music on the DVD but can't play them simulteneously.
Thanks to anyone who can advise..

  • Roxio Toast Titanium 6.1 cannot see superdrive in MacBook Pro 17"

    Hi Folks,
My superdrive worked perfectly fine with Toast Titanium 6.1, burning Cd's,Dvd's,dual layer Dvd's without any issues.
But just recently Toast has informed me that it cannot find a recorder.
here is the details of my superdrive as listed by System Profiler:
    MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-85J:
    Firmware Revision: FAV1
    Interconnect: ATAPI
    Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipped/Supported)
    Cache: 2048 KB
    Reads DVD: Yes
    CD-Write: -R, -RW
    DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +RW, +R DL
    Burn Underrun Protection CD: Yes
    Burn Underrun Protection DVD: Yes
    Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, DVD-DAO
    Media:
    Media Type: CD-ROM
    Blank: No
    Erasable: No
    Overwritable: No
    Appendable: No
I am currently trying to get Roxio suipport to resolve the issue but no luck so far.
I have uninstalled & re-installed the Toast software, repaired permissions, the works but stiil Toast cannot see the Superdrive.
The only thing I can think of is I installed a recent firmware update for the MacBook Pro & maybe that had something to do with it.
I also don't think that updating to the latest version of Toast 8 will resolve the issue either.
Remember that the Superdrive was working just fine with Toast.
I have searced the froums & apple support documents to no avail.
The Toast site is not much help either.
Anybody have any ideas or a similar problem.
    Thanks
    fargione

    My problem has been solved!
I have carried out a complete re-install of the Os & I am right back up to OS 10.4.10.
Al the available updates have been installed & Toast 6.1.1 works just fine & sees the superdrive without any problems.
I think I have worked out what caused Toast to break.
Sometime back I was advised to run an app called Monolingual.
It is a utility that removes unecessary language resources from the os & reclaims disk space.
My advice is to live with the extra language's & avoid Monolingual.
Once again thank you all for your help.

  • 10.4.9 and Toast Titanium

Since I´ve downloaded the 10.4.9 update I have problems to burn DVDs with Toast Titanium 6.1.1
    CDs are not effected
The burn process starts properly, but a few minutes before it is finished it stops the job and Toast freezes.
Does anybody else encounter this problem?
    Thanks for your help!
    PPC - G 5, Dual 2.5 Ghz, 2004   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   1,5 GB RAM, PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-117D

Hi Big Tom Cat and welcome!
You should probably update to Toast 7, the latest version of which is 7.1.2. I have had no problems with that.
Or of course go straight to the latest version: Toast 8 !

  • Toast Titanium 11 DVD Menu

    Hi,
Can someone assist me as I am confused on how to put a menu front end on my DVD with Toast Titanium 11. After I burn the DVD it only gives me the movie from FC Express HD no menu at the front end as in iDVD.
    Can someone assist me please.

I don't know what your problem is?
Select the "Video" button along the top and then select "DVD-Video"  whereupon the menu creation options should appear on the right hand side.
Then drop your video into the main part of the window.
Having said that, the menus in Toast are absolute rubbish, so I don't know why you don't use the far superior iDVD.
Click image to enlarge for clarity..

  • Using toast titanium

ive never had any problems using toast titanium version 9, but today ive tried to burn avi files as a dvd-video and while it is encoding the application just closes down without even a prompt saying that it "unexpectedly quit." ive tried it about five times today with the same results. is there some sort of a cache i need to delete or anything else? im out of ideas and i can really use the help. thanks

    Hello,
How much available disk space do you have? Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop, then click: Get Info. In the Get Info window, click the discovery triangle so it's facing down. You will see; Capacity and Available Make sure you have 10% available disk space, 15% is better.
Processes such as burning a DVD, if there isn't enough free disk space... the app can freeze or quit.
Look here: /Users/YourName/Library/Preferences and see if the there's a Toast preference .plist file. If there is, drag it to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot. It might be com.toast.plist or com.roxio.plist similar to that.
This from the Apple Help Viewer: Applications Unexpectedly Quit
There are several reasons an application might quit suddenly. If an application does so repeatedly, try to correct the problem by:
    • Reopening the application. Click Reopen in the dialog that appears when the application quits unexpectedly.
    • Clicking Try Again in the dialog that appears if the application crashes after using the Reopen button. If there is a problem with the application's preferences file, clicking Try Again sets the application to temporarily use new settings based on the application's default settings.
    • Restarting your computer by choosing Apple > Restart.
    • Uninstalling any third-party plug-ins or enhancements for the application that's quitting unexpectedly. When you update an application or Mac OS X, a plug-in or enhancement you previously installed may not be compatible any longer.
    • Reading the application's documentation (including Read Me notes) to check if it's compatible with your version of Mac OS X.
    • Opening another document in the application. There may be a problem with the document you were opening before.
    • Using Disk Utility (in the Utilities folder of your Applications folder or on your Mac OS X installation disc) to repair the disk.
    • Updating your software by choosing Apple > Update Software. Updates often correct issues found in previous versions. For applications not produced by Apple, look for updates on the manufacturer's website.
    • Disconnecting any peripheral device you just connected (for example, a printer). It may not be compatible with your version of Mac OS X. If disconnecting the device solves your problem, contact its manufacturer.
    • Running Apple Hardware Test, on a disc that came with your computer. If you just installed hardware, such as additional memory, Apple Hardware Test can tell you if it's defective. If you can't find Apple Hardware Test, take your computer to an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
For more detailed information about problems with applications quitting unexpectedly, click the link below to search the Apple Service & Support website.
