Problem with Toshiba A205-S4617

Problem Description
The computer freezes up randomly, not allowing any kind of action, just shutting down with the on/off button.
This happens in safe mode too.
It has the particularity that one can not turn on/shut down/Log off, if the computer is connected to the power source (i.e. to turn on or shut down the computer I must unplug the "charger" or else it will hang up as I explain earlier)
- During Turn on
It goes from the green loading bar in black screen that says Microsoft Corporation to a black screen and stays there, sometimes even gets to the welcome screen where one inserts the password, but that's how far it goes, does notgoes further than that.
- During Shut down
Closes all running programs and icons on desk desappear, closes the windows explorer getting ready to shut down and hangs up right there.
All this problems are present too removing battery and working without it, connected to power source obviously.
Attempted Solutions
- Upgraded from Windows Vista Home Premium (O.S. by defect) to Windows 7 thinking that the problem could be in the O.S. and changing to a new one could solve the problem.
(Problem not solved)
- Downgraded to the Windows Vista Home Premium again with the recovery factory disk, bringing the computer to the original configuration (out of the box state)
(Problem not solved)
- Used several repairing software, registry repair, debug, antispyware, drivers upgrade, defrag, HDD check, etc. such as "Advanced SystemCare Profrom Iobit, "Power Suite" from Uniblue)
(Problem not solved)
- Thinking it could be a communication problem between hardware and that maybe a bios software upgrade could hold the solution, I upgraded it.
(Problem not solved)
At this point I don't know what else to do.
Can someone give me a hand so I can at least know what the problem is?
The computer model is A205-s4617 I have not changed or added anything on hardware

Satellite A205-S4617
The computer freezes up randomly..
..with the recovery factory disk, bringing the computer to the original configuration (out of the box state) (Problem not solved)
If it happens just after restoring the hard disk to its original contents, then it's surely due to a hardware malfunction.
Test the memory.
How do I know if my computer has a memory problem?

  • Multiple Problems with Toshiba Satellite A505-S6980 laptop??

    Hi,
We purchased the Toshiba Satellite A505-S6980 laptop at Best Buy about a week ago.  However, we seem to be having multiple problems with it, that I wouldn't have expected from a brand new Toshiba.
    Problems:
Whenever I'm in Mozilla Firefox browser, it crashes 90% of the time.  Firefox was always my favorite on our previous computer, and still is, I just can't use it because it continually crashes.
In Outlook, whenever I try to open a message or reply, or basically any general command, it pops up an error message that says, "Could not install the custom actions," and then does whatever I'd wanted it too.  It's a pain, as we do a lot of email and calendar through Outlook.
In Outlook, when I tried to import our Contacts, it says that we do not have the appropriate permissions to access the files.  We are the only user account on this computer.  We don't do seperate ones for each family member; we just turn on the PC.
It seems to me like the internet crawls on this computer.  Every time we try to play a video (e.g. ABC, CNN, Youtube), it won't buffer.  It just stops and starts all throughout the video about every 3 seconds.  HUGE nuisance.  We watch a lot of videos.
Minor issue:  In Firefox, before it has crashed that is, on my old computer I used to be able to type "cnet" without the quotes into the address bar, and it would take me to www.cnet.com.  If it couldn't find the page, it would take me to my default search engine's page (Yahoo) with the search results.  On this one, if I type anything into the address bar (like search terms/keywords) it bring up search results with a My Start Incredimail search engine.  I want my Yahoo search engine, and I want it to find the page if it can.
I cannot seem to get the Aero Flick (I think) to work.  That was one of the main things I was looking forward to, but I can't figure out how to do it.
It seems to me like the Windows Explorer freezes a lot.
There have been multiple times when I'm typing that the keys don't work.  Like I would have to press the A key about 10 times to get it to show up on the screen once.  It's hit and miss and doesn't do it all of the time.
This isn't a problem - just a question.  Is it best to leave the computer plugged in all of the time if it's stationary?  Or once it's fully charged, should I unplug it and let the power run down, and then re-charge it?
**CLARIFICATION:  It's not Outlook Express, it's Microsoft Office Outlook 2007.  The one that you have to pay for.  Surely it works with 7, considering it's Microsoft?!?!
If you can help me answer any of these problems/questions, I would really appreciate it.
Have a safe and Merry Christmas!

Yes, everything was fine with Firefox.  However, I have uninstalled it, and am just using Internet Explorer for now.
    Thanks for battery info...
I'm well within the return window, but overall really like the laptop.  I've put a lot of time into it, and just want it to work right if possible.
    Thanks for the info.

Also, that search engine you mentioned may have somehow been installed on your machine. Have you checked the "Manage search engines..." window available from the search bar? Check your add-ons as well. You could always reinstall Firefox from scratch.
As for the battery, it may not be best to continually run down the battery - followed by a long charge. Once a month or so should be fine. Otherwise, just try to give the battery some exercise every now and then.
Are you still within the return window? Your unit may have a bad install, some bad RAM, or...

  • A Problem with the A205-S4597 video card

    Hi
I need a video card for my laptop. A technician told me it only comes with the mother board. I wanna know if it's true or not, how can i get it, how much it cost.
The problem with the computer is that it shows a lot of colors at windows startup and then it stops working, so, i took it to the technician and he told me the problem was the video card, but i have to buy the whole mother board, because it isn't sell alole.

Yep.  The video is integrated into the motherboard so you would need to replace the motherboard on that model.  Unless you can do it yourself it will probably cost almost as much to fix it as it would to just buy another laptop.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

  • Boot-up problem with Toshiba L505-S6955

I had downloaded YouSendIt client, internet was a bit slow, thought I'd re-boot the computer.
But when I turned it back on, it hits the Toshiba splash screen, then goes to a blank screen with a large static cursor in the upper left hand corner.
It doesn't go any further than that.
I tried Toshiba boot-up disks, but it still doesn't boot up.
    Any suggestions?

Not a solution, and I have no idea why the Racovery CD won't boot, but the blinking cursor in the upper left sounds like a problem with the HD.  I have seen that when the boot files are corrupted, and maybe when there was a problem with a cable.
Quick thing to try would be to pop the hard drive out and back in a couple times, sometimes it's just a simple matter of the connection between the HD and the computer.  If that doesn't help, then it's likely that the drive has died.

  • Brightness auto adjusting problem with Toshiba 39l22U.

I own a Toshiba 39 inch LED 60hz 1080p hdtv (Model 39l22u), and I've had nothing but problems for months. I bought it back in January of this year for 400$ at BB and I initially had no problem with it, I thought that once I figured out the best picture I'd be satisfied, so I never bothered to return it. My problem isn't the picture detail, it's actually really nice on Bluray movies. My problem is something else. The brightness sort of adjusts when you move your camera angle around in video games. Unfortunately not many own this tv and the ones that have it and reviewed it said it's fantastic and has no problems, not a single mention of this.
The overall brightness of the TV adjusts to what you're looking at in game. For example, looking down at a road on Grand Theft Auto V the road gets brighter and the sky gets darker, then when I look up the road gets a bit darker while the sky gets brighter. While driving in a car at fast speeds can be an eyesore because the camera is moving and the brightness is adjusting a lot. It's like the TV is auto adjusting the brightness for some reason.
I also had another problem, but I was able to solve it. Dark areas would dim when the camera's in motion then go back to normal when you stop moving the camera angle in games. This was solved by turning the brightness up and it disappeared. So naturally I thought that maybe by turning up or down on things like the backlight, contrast, gamma etc that maybe this would go away, but it's still there.
This TV doesn't have many extra settings when it comes to Picture. Aside from the basics you have Dynamic Contrast and Dynamic Lighting, nether of which cause this problem as it still happens when I turn both of these off. There's no energy saving feature aside from powering down when not in use for a period of time. I'm stumped here, ether my TV is faulty or there's some sort of auto brightness adjust built into the TV that you can't change. I've also tried every different setting in my Xbox 360's display settings, but it's still the same problem.
Unfortunately I can't find out much about this TV, only a few reviews in which people say the TV is great. Which makes me think my TV is faulty.
Is my TV faulty? Or Is there something that could be causing this? Any ideas on what the problem could be?

I'm unfamiliar with that problem. If you can't solve your issue and no one in the community can help, contact support to speak with a tech support agent at (800) 631-3811.

  • Problem with toshiba 1405-S151 will not boot up.

    Hello everyone!
Just wanted to hey! and introduce my self, I have 2 Toshiba aptops, a 1405-S151, and my newest L355-S7905, but my problem is with S151. Lights come on fans runs, but will not boot up bought a new harddrive old one shut down.
    Can some one help?

It sounds like a hardware problem since you are getting no boot, no video and no DVD eject. Make sure that this is a computer problem and not something else. Remove ALL attached devices to the computer, including printers, USB devices, external keyboard and mouse. Remove the main battery. Remove one of the RAM memory modules, so that there is only one RAM memory module in the computer. Try turning on the computer. If there is still no boot and no video, exchange the RAM module and try again. If it still doesn't work, disconnect the power cord, reinstall the main battery and try powering on computer using just battery power. If the computer still doesn't work, you are looking at having the computer fixed at Toshiba-authorized repair center. There is a listing for the repair centers on this website. If there are no repair centers in your area, you can always call the Toshiba Call Center at 800-457-7777 and arrange to have the computer sent to Toshiba's repair depot.

  • Still problems with Toshiba Bluetooth Adapter under Windows 7

Hey there, it's me once again.
I refer to my thread "Bluetooth Problem under Windows 7":
I thought after the solution from bluecat my problem was solved. But it's not really.
After installing the Windows Hotfix, it worked just shortly. But now the problem is the same.
When I delete the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack and try to work with the Windows Bluetooth Manager, I see, that the Bluetooth icon is coming an going on the task bar. In device manager I said Windows, that it doesn't shut down the device to save energy. But I think the device is turned on and off and on and off...
I really have absolutely no idea what the problem is, but I am becoming terribly angry.
    Details:
    Windows 7
Dell Wireless Bluetooth Internal Adapter 350 (but it's made by Toshiba)
Drivers tried out: Vista Profile Pack from Dell Homepage (no stack installed, just driver) / Toshiba Bluetooth Stack (the latest version)
    This is the old Thread:
    Dear all
Just as I installed Windows 7, my Bluetooth mouse and keyboard don't work fine.
I use the Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth Internal Adapter, Logitech MX1000 mouse and keyboard and Toshiba Bluetooth Stack 8.00.02.
To connect the devices with my Computer, I firstly must disconnect the Bluetooth adapter by pushing Fn + F2 on my Dell i9400, after re-connecting I can search and connect the devices correctly. They work fine as long as the notebook is running.
After rebooting the notebook, the devices don't work anymore. They are still listed in Bluetooth Stack as known, but not as connected. Therefore I have to disconnect the Bluetooth adapter another time and re-connect it to be able to connect the two devices.
I firstly thought, that it's a Windows problem. I thought that Windows is able to put down the adapter to save some energy. But when I go to the Device Manager, there is no box for this option as known from other devices (f.e. USB-Ports). So this is not the problem. I think the problem is something else, maybe done by the Bluetooth Stack.
Under Windows XP this all worked perfectly. I used the same hardware and also the Bluetooth Stack by Toshiba (downloaded on the Dell Homepage).
    Anyone some ideas?
    Thanks!
    Daevu

    Hey there
Yesterday I made Format C: and installed Windows 7 new.
I did not install any bluetooth driver for my Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth Adapter (made by Toshiba).
And now: The mouse and the keyboard are working. I even do not see them anywhere in my system, but they are working.
There is no bluetooth adapter in my device manager and I had not to connect the mouse and the keyboard with my computer. It's simply working without doing anything.
    I don't understand this...
    Is this a save connection?
    What I've tried already:
-> Installing newest Bluetooth Stack from Toshiba. Problem seen in the message above. I also installed the MS Hotfix. Same problem.
-> Installing "Vista Profile Pack" from Dell Homepage, recommended for my notebook and Windows Vista. There is no stack installed. So I had to connect the mouse and keyboard via Windows Bluetooth Manager. But the adapter was made on and off by windows, the icon in the taskbar came and went and came and went. Connection is 1 minute good, then some seconds away. Not possible to work with the mouse.
And now without installing any driver it's working. Am I stupid?

  • Strange Problem with Toshiba Express Media Player on Satellite M115-S3094

I'm experiencing a strange problem in my Toshiba M115-S3094, which was pre-installed with Windows XP Media Center edition and which also had the Toshiba Express Media Player.
I had previously done a clean Vista installation on it, and then I decided to revert back to XP with my recovery DVD. I did the same procedures of first installing Express Media Player from Backup (which I made when i purchased the laptop) and then installing XP from Windows XP recovery DVD from Toshiba.
    The steps included:
1- Deleted partitions from Express media player recovery disk
    2- Installed express media player
3- Recovered Xp from Recovery DVD, by selecting "Recover without changing Partitions" (there is no expert mode)
Everything went very well (i.e. the installation)......But now after shutting down my laptop as I press the Express Media Center button, the "Express Media Player" logo appears on the screen after loading for 5 seconds laptop shutdowns,
I tried to open it again and again but the logo appears for 5 seconds and then my laptop shutdown....
Laptop works fine when I logon to windows by pressing power button.
Can anyone help on this strange issue..?

    Hi Jaba
    Thnx for reply.
Now i would answer the questions asked by you and try to clear you confusion,
Yes, Express Media Player was previously installed on my machine, and I have used it, it was perfectly working.
About installation of Media Player, The whole story is that, firstly i wasnt known about how to make a Toshiba express media player recovery cd through windows, so downloaded an ISO of the media player from a forum and install media player by first deleting partitions.
After that I can again installed xp through recovery dvd and choose the option "out of box" state and then selected "install without changing partitions"
After a successfull recovery, I shutdown my pc and pressed the media player button, the media player logo appeared for 5 seconds and then my laptop shutsdown, this is happening all the time when i start my laptop by the Express media player button.
After this I read somewhere how to create a backup recovery cd for Express media player, So i run the recovery disk creater and made a backup of Toshiba Express media player.
After doing the above procedure I again formated my hard drive through recovery dvd and selecting the option "Delete partitions and overwrite sectors". When this was finished, i booted my laptop with the newly made recovery cd for express player, after selecting English as my language, This it what said:
"Installation Error" An error occured due to wrong system ID or unsufficient space on hard drive, press escape to quit.
THE ABOVE IS THE WHOLE PROCESS IN COMPLETE DETAIL.
    AND JAMA,
About the link you provided, it says that on the Recovery dvd select the option for "Expert Mode", but in my recovery dvd (for Toshiba M115- S3094) there is no such option as expert mode, there are only two options
1- Restore laptop to "out of box" state
    2- Format Hard Drive

  • Problem with Toshiba 32C120U lcd tv

I bought this tv 2 days ago but I think there's a problem to it. If I sit directly in front of the tv the picture looks very dark and I can't see details on dark scenes. If I change the angle, for example if I stand up and see it maybe in a 60 degree angle the picture gets clearer and I can see more details. The same happens if I watch it from the side, it looks clearer that way but not directly in front of it. Is this normal? I think it should be the opposite, that the picture looks better if I am directly in front of the tv. I also notice that the picture is too dark overall, I know about the auto brightness sensor but why they would make the picture so dark in the first place? It is just too dark and it is not normal. If someone know about this and thinks it is a defect in my tv please let me know. Thanks.

Go to menu /preferences scroll all the way down to energy saver setting select it / turn auto brightness sensor OFF
    then go to picture menu
    set contrast to 81
Dynalight OFF or On try what you like
    backlight to 95
    brightness to 65
    color to 70
    tint  0
    sharpness 12
    Advanced picture setings
    Dynamic contrast  high
    Static aGamma       2
color temp cool / normal or warm set to preference.  These sets push red a litle bit I prefer the cool setting .
You can set to preference from these settings but these should work good.
don't change any settings in other than preference pic mode otherwise you will loose your preference settings
it defaults to prefrence mod anytime you change a picture setting adjustment
Turning off energy saver and setting Backlight will give you very  bright picture and vibrant color
energy saver is on by default and makes picture dark

  • Toshiba A205 4777 Recover problem

    Hi,
I was trying to recover the factory default settings on my Toshiba A205 4777 laptop and it is getting stuck while recovering the files. I tried this serveral times and Iam encountering the same problem. Can anybody help me in solving this issue? is there any problem with the hard disk? pls let me know
    Thanks
    Sai

    Satellite A205-S4617
    The computer freezes up randomly..
..with the recovery factory disk, bringing the computer to the original configuration (out of the box state) (Problem not solved)
If it happens just after restoring the hard disk to its original contents, then it's surely due to a hardware malfunction.
    Test the memory.
How do I know if my computer has a memory problem?

  • Problem recording videos with Toshiba Camileo X-Sports

    Hi there,
I recently just brought the Toshiba Camileo X-Sports so am fairly new to how the camera works.
As the title suggests I am having some issues recording.
Right I'll try and explain the best i can
The reason I purchased this device was mainly to be used as a car safety cam (crash cam) as I'm a taxi driver, I drive around 200 miles per day and people's ability to drive sensibly is just getting crazy now and having video evidence if the worst should happen would be amazing. Other reasons was for trips out on my motorcycle and also being able to take this cam under water.
I received the X-Sports on Wednesday, placed the memory card in and hit format card to ensure the card was correctly set for use with the X-Sports
I then read through the manual to see what settings would suit my needs best... I came across looping video.
    Here's what the manual says.
    Looping Video
Looping Video features recording a continuously looping video that overwrites itself until you stop it.
    Looping Video feature includes:
    OFF - Default
Max - Depending on the maximum capacity the camera records a certain number of videos based on 15 minutes files, then deletes the first 15 minutes file to continue recording a new video.
5 Min - Camera records 5 x 1 minute file, then deletes the first 1 minute file to continue recording a new video.
20 Min - Camera records 4 x 5 minutes file, then deletes the first 5 minutes file to continue recording a new video.
60 Min - Camera records 4 x 15 minutes file, then deletes the first 15 minutes file to continue recording a new video.
120 Min - Camera records 8 x 15 minutes file, then deletes the first 15 minutes file to continue recording a new video.
So upon reading this I though right as I have a 64gb card (Samsung EVO 64gb Class 10 U1 micro SDXC) I will put the setting on Max and then if ever I needed to recall a video i will have a decent chunk of the day stored on the memory card leading up to the event.
I took the camera out with me on Thursday just for an hour and when i got home i took the memory card out and placed it into my laptop to view the recordings and this is where my problem comes in.
The first 15min video plays back fine but every file after that will not play. when i open the memory card file the first video has the preview style thumb nail where as the rest of the video files do not.
I then searched online and come across this website looking for answers.
some of the info i read was that 1080 60fps was causing some problems with recording and playback and to turn down the fps to 30fps, also that the stability control was also a possibility for these issues.
So last night i went through and made the necessary changes to my settings 1080 @ 30fps and no stability control. I then set the camera up in the living room for 45mins as a test. i then tested the recordings on my laptop and hey presto it worked. 3x 15min videos all playing back as they should Great stuff
This morning at 5am i left for work taking my shiney new cam with me, happy in what i might capture on today's drive and also be satisfied that my camera is functioning as it should.
I get home, stick the memory card into the laptop and I'm back to square one. my first 15mins was fine and all others were unable to playback. I also tried the memory card in my PC and still had the playback issues.
Does anyone have any ideas or shall I return this as faulty?
Sorry for the big post but wanted to put as much info as possible!
    Thanks, Leon.
