Problem with tracking relative to latency during playback

Hi all,
I'm pretty new to Logic but have been using software sequencers for a couple years now (Pro-tools/Reason/Ableton Live) so I'm wondering what I'm forgetting/doing incorrectly when I track any live sound and hear that it's offset from the global tempo when I play back.
In other words I'm pretty sure I have the basics set up correctly but I'm still having the latency issues with tracking live audio; the low latency mode is on, HD buffer size is at 256, I've installed the latest firmware for my interface (motu 8 pre-fire wire). Maybe the follow tempo button in inspector being checked would help... just read about that but I'm not at my computer to try.
Any trouble shooting suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A Buffer I/O setting of 256 is a pretty high setting for tracking. That's giving you 5.8 ms of latency at 44.1K, and 5.3 ms latency at 48K. That's enough to throw off otherwise tight timing.
That's the first thing.
Second thing is that you should probably check your recording delay setting. If it's set to zero then you need to do a loopback test to assess the recording latency and then plug in the appropriate value so that your recorded tracks play back where they should.
Go to this link [http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5412800&#5412800] and look for my long post towards the bottom. The procedure for setting your recording delay is outlined in detail. Don't be put off by the number of steps --- it's a procedure you only need to do once.
And make sure that when you do the test that you start with a fresh Logic song/project with NO plugins anywhere, and have PDC switched off.
Still, I'd recommend setting your buffer size to 64 or better, 32 (if you can get away with it).

From your screenshot, you have a Windows 7 apparently 64 bit computer, lots of RAM. That computer would be great for Premiere Elements 11 Windows.
But Premiere Elements 8 is only a 32 bit application running in the 32 bit compatibility mode of your 64 bit system. So all that RAM is excessive in a 32 bit system with its limitation of max supported installed RAM being 4 GB (of which 3 GB or less of that are available).
So, the freezing and such could be explained by limited resources depending how much you have in the project when the freezing occurs and what formats are involved - like AVCHD. The burner not being recognized by Premiere Elements is probably another matter.
Let us start here....another place where you could be getting hit on the resource side of things....
1. Background Rendering and AutoAnalzyer features in version 8 are notorious for grabbing system resources. If you have them enabled, that could account for much of the program freezing. So, please make sure they are not selected.
a. Background Rendering. In the Premiere Elements 8 workspace, go to Edit Menu/Preferences/General, and make sure there is no check mark next to Background Rendering option.
b. AutoAnalzyer. In the Premiere Elements workspace, click on the Organizer tab in the row below the selected Organize header in order to open the Elements Organizer. In the Elements Organizer workspace, go to Edit Menu/Preferences/AutoAnalyzer Options and uncheck all the option under that.
To get back to the Premiere Elements workspace from the Elements Organizer workspace, in the Elements Organizer workspace go to File Menu/Exit.
For most of us, Premiere Elements 8 was unusable without the 8.0.1 Update. Did you install that? Have you ever worked successfully with your Premiere Elements 8 on the computer where it is now? And, was that with or without the 8.0.1 Update?
Let us stop here and see how we are doing.
Lots of other factors to get into including the burner recognition one.

I cant copy the music from itune library to iphone. Message "itunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration Audio/Video playback may not operate properly" I unistalled the itune from the pc and download the itune again but still same message come up.

I'm having the same problem. I have downloaded Itunes again but still the same problem.

Strange new problem with external effects and latency compensation

i'm currently facing a new , very strange problem with latency compensation for external effect devices. it alway worked fine for me but suddenly there are strange things going on. i'm suddenly running into problems when using sends which feed auxes going to external effect devices.
latency compensation is set to ALL !!!
easy setup :
- open an empty project and create 2 audioinstrument tracks. on the first one load the exs with a drumkit and record f.e. a bassdrum pattern. leave the 2. instrument empty.
- now on the first audio instrument create a send to bus 1 -> aux 1 and insert the i/o plug-in in the aux and route it to your external effect device. chose a temposynced delay.
- press play = everything is fine when audioinstrument 1 is highlighted in the arrange.
- press stop, click on the track with the 2. audioinstrument and press play = totaly weird timing problems. delay is only in sync when track 1 is highlighted.
- create a send in the 2. audioinstrument and route it to bus 1 -> aux 1 too = still the same problem
now insert ANY softwareinstrument in audioobject 2 and suddenly the timing for the delay is right.
go ahead and create a 3. audioinstrument track but leave it empty first. chose it in the arrange = again weird timing problems with the external delay.
insert any software instrument on audioinstrument 3 = still the same problem
now create the send to bus 1 -> aux 1 in audioinstrument 3 and guess what, timing is right.
*** is going on here ? can anyone reproduce that ?
it works fine when using sends which feed auxes with software effects inserted.
funny thing is, when i go to the environment and change aux object one to bus object 1 and insert the same i/o in it it works !!!
very very strange, please tell me i'm not crasy and this is a bug !!!
as said, latency compensation is set to all.
i'm using the mac pro 3.2 8-core running os 10.5.4, logic 8.0.2 and a motu pci-e audio system.

Welcome to the Discussions.
If you need it formatted FAT32, reformat it on your Mac. Use MS-DOS (FAT32) as the file system. If you don't need it for both PC and Mac, format it HFS+ and you'll be able to use the Retrospect Express software that came with it on your Mac.

Problems with track pad and osx installation disc on macbok.

Okay so I am having two separate problems with my macbook.
First, the track pad, or the button beneath it, is pretty much completely out of commission. When I try and use it, the computer acts as if I am holding down the button all the time. Example, when I drag it across the desktop, the "click-and-drag" square starts appearing next to the cursor or when move the cursor on an icon, it tries to click and drag that. The only way that I can fix it thus far is to hook up my wireless mouse. Hoping someone else has a better solution so that I can continue to use the notebook on the go without having to bring the mouse. Note: the button does not appear to be depressed in anyway.
Second problem is happening when I attempt to reboot the computer with the OS X Leopard disk in for a re-installation. When the gray start-up screen appears, before the gray apple comes on the middle of the screen, a folder icon with a question mark on it appears for a split second and then turns into the normal apple icon after which my OSX disk is spit out of the drive and the computer boots straight to the desktop. I have attempted holding down the control button, the option button, and starting the process while the computer is still turned on and then just restarting it, the disc is ejected upon restart every time. I have reinstalled the OS with this disk once before and it has worked fine and other disks seem to be working fine in the drive, so I am at a lost here.
I know that was a lot of info but if anyone out there can help me out with either one of these problems it would be much appreciated.

exactly the same issu with the track pad here.
I v tried to use it without the battery but the problem persist.
If I use an USB mouse i can move it arnd but wen I click or double click nothing happen...so is useless.Same problem with the Blur Tooth wireless mouse.
The issue appear several months ago...after a couple of weeks went away, and now is back again. I try the routine manteinance but nothing solved the issue.
Any suggestion? I have some urgent work to do ...I will try tomorrow to bring it in an apple store but I can't leave it with them ..

Problem With router related to mIRC?

I am having problem with my router (model = WRT54G2 and version = 1) related to mirc, the problem is that whenever i recieve or try to send someone a code something like this I'm a QUEER?DCC SEND "gay???g?" 0 0 0 i get dc. First i thought that it's some problem with mIRc so i went into their help community and asked them but one of their guys said that it's not mIRC's problem it's some problem with my router and he gaved me two solutions:
There are really only 2 real solutions:
1. get another router or update your router's fimware
2. (if the network supports it) connect with SSL to the IRC server. This encrypts text between the server and mIRC and your router will be unable to read the contents of the packets coming from the IRC server
i tried the 2nd one and it worked i dont get dc anymore but the problem is that only 5-6 servers on mirc support ssl so it cant be possible and as far as the first option is concerned i tried to upgrade my firm but it didn't helped me the problem is still there so if you guys can find me a way i will be really thankful to ya cos i dont wanna buy a new router now....Thanks.

well i cant go for SSL cos the servers on mIRC which are supporting SSL are a bit lame , i want this problem to be fixed and as far as resetting is concerned why to reset after firmware upgrade? do we have to do it?

Problem with track order (ID3 tags) when transfering from ZENcast Organizer = Vision:M 3

Hi there, I am using ZENcast Organizer V.2.00.4 and my Zen Vision:M's firmware version is V..6.0e
Okay, I have a time consuming problem with the way my podcasts are organized on my player. When i download my podcast from ZENcast Organizer everything is neatly organized. By that i mean that the tracks are positioned in the order in which they were released by the radioshow. Let me just give you a picture : [IMG]ttp://img530.imageshack.us/img530/4476/zencastbv4.jpg[/IMG]you can see that after the 27th comes the 28th and the 29th etc. That is also the way i would want the files to be played on my player, but unfortunately they are not.
Here is a pic of what the order looks like on my player after i have transfered some of the podcasts . Since there are no ID3 tags concerning track number, the player seems to sort the files alphabetically, which is a hassle for me as i have to search through my tracks each time I would like to listen to the following show.
The way that I have dealt with it until now is to download the tracks with ZENcast Organizer and then add the track number information with Media Monkey and then upload them to the player via Zencast Organizer. That is a lengthy and annoying process and since i have missed the show (due to my new work) for 4 month now, i have a lot of files that i must edit.
So I was just wondering if there is an easier method? I was thinking in the lines of a plugin for ZENcast Organizer that would add track number information? I wouldn't care if it numbers them 2 3 4 or 2 22 23 24 just as long as they come in the chronologically right order when i play them.

I did some testing and discovered that ZENcast Organizer indeed does know how to sort the files on my player so that they are played in the right order - under the transfer you just have to check the box which makes ZENcast Organizer convert the music (mp3) files into videofiles as shown in the picture: http://img50.imageshack.us/img50/439...ransferar5.jpg

But i do not want player to be spending a huge amount of unnecessary power on showing a screen I am not going to be looking at.... my podcast is a radio show, there is nothing to LOOK at, literally.
Why on earth does ZENcast not change the filename when i choose to download the shows in their nati've mp3 form but only when I convert them to video?

Problem with track ball

I purchased my 8330 working with Tata Indicom CDMA on 10th Feb 2010. The track ball keeps going BAD. Once I got it replaced free of cost at Ahmedabad service center. Again it has started giving trouble. Is there any way out. Can company replace the body and key pad with new model to get rid of this problem once and for all.

I had the same problem with mine before I moved to the 8530. What I learned was that it was the oils from my hands that was causing the ball to quit working. Someone shared with me the trick of using a cottonswab and some fingernail polish remover and rolling the ball around with the soaked swab. It cleaned underneath the ball and it would work for months before happening again. Just repeat the process when it happens again. I never had to have the ball replaced.

Now i downloaded some more songs i plugged in my Ipod touch and it's not showing up and giving me the message above (Itunes has detected a problem with you audio configuration. Audio/video playback may not operate properly. I uninstalled Itunes and quicktime restarted computer and still the same thing. What is going on?

Problem with videos and only one album playback

Hey everyone.
I'm having two problems.First off,there's one album on my iPod that plays weird.It sounds like it's skipping,but not like what I'm seeing a lot of you having problems with when it goes to the next song instead of finishing the current one.Mine sounds like a CD skipping,only it's constant and all throughout the song and sounds horrible,it ruins the song.It only does it with one album though,and it's my favorite album by my favorite band,so I'm kinda bummed.I initially had three songs on this album that I brought over from Windows Media Player after uploading it onto the from my CD about two years before I got the iPod.I later added a few more and they do the same thing.I'm wondering if it's a problem with the licensing,since it's only this album,because that's the same way I got most of my other songs and they're fine.I tried deleting them and re-uploading them from the CD,but that didn't help.Tried converting the file to AAC;that didn't help either.I'm utterly befuddled.
The second question is that I've got two videos I downloaded from Limewire that I converted to iPod format and everything you're supposed to do,but I can only get the video and not the audio.My video podcasts work fine,it's just these two I'm having a problem with.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On the second question...
If the videos are multiplexed MPEG files then the audio and the video are muxed onto the same track. QuickTime, and therefore any application that uses QT like iTunes, the iPod, iMovie (Mac app), etc. expect two separate tracks, one video and one audio. So when you play these muxed files, the video is played and the audio is not heard.
So you need to do a conversion on the file first. MPEG Streamclip is a popular one that comes in both Mac and Windows versions and is known to "repair" this problem.
See this other link for other applications that might be able to do the same thing. But your root cause is the muxed MPEG files.

Problems with iTunes Airplay after pausing the playback

I have a problem with itunes airplay since I've updated my system to Windows 8.
I'm able to stream music to my Yamaha receiver once, but when I pause the playback and resume to it after a short while, iTunes always freezes and it is shown as inactive in the Task Manager...
I hadn't any problems with it on Windows 7.
Any Solutions?
btw: I tried installing iTunes 11.0.4 and iTunes 10.7..same issue on both versions.

Problem with item and/or data during page-processing-PS/SQL

On my page I have a custom report (from 2 tables) and a small form-field, that adds and edits data in the report. After generating the form with the wizard I added an extra item, to store the id from one of the tables from the report data.
Now, on submit a calculation should take place, that updates data according user input with a procedure in Page-Prosseses:

As I understand, that process should also run, when I submit a chance, but nothing happens then.
But when I try to save a new record (which worked without any problems before adding that process), I get this error message:
ORA-06550: line 1, column 64: PL/SQL: ORA-00957: duplicate column name ORA-06550: line 1, column 7: PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored
Error Unable to process row of table TBL_TURNIERSIEGER.
Then, when I go back into the app-builder and try to run the page again, I get this message:
ORA-01403: no data found
Error Unable to fetch row.
I am not sure, if you guys have all the information you need, to know whats going on. Maybe this has to do with session-id and the whay, items are updated. I hope you can help me.

Problem with Windows Installer Package.. during download of itunes... HELP!

I recently got an ipod touch for school, and we're using a computer with windows XP. we had itunes, but my brother didn't think we needed it so we deleted it. Now trying to install itunes 8, we're getting this message:
"There's a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
There is absolutely no itunes files on the computer, though there's a version of quicktime that it won't let us delete, saying it can't be found, but it appears on the add/delete programs page.
Please help! I need to sync my itouch, but can't so I can't use half of the things on it! Thanks!

Go to 'Apple Software Update' in Add or Remove Programs icon in your Control Panel. Select Change, then Repair. Then rerun the iTunes installation.

I am having a problem with this query:
