    Hello, Gonzalo andres.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I had an issue with this after upgrading to OS X 10.9.  I would verify that the gestures have been configured in System Preferences > Trackpad > Scroll & Zoom/More Gestures.

  • Problems with trackpad

    problems with trackpad

Another possibility is that your trackpad is behaving erratically because of battery expansion. If you have one of the MacBooks with an easily removeable battery you can test for this by shutting down, removing the battery, connecting to your AC power adapter and starting up the MacBook. Test the trackpad.
Examine your battery for signs of expansion. If this is the case, replace the battery.
    Best of luck.

  • Hardware Problem with Trackpad?

    Hey Everyone,
I've had my MacBook Pro a little less than a year without any problems. While I was using the computer today, I can no longer physically click using my trackpad. All the other trackpad functions work. I can use the dragging option, but for resizing windows and other things, I would prefer to use the physical click. I've had no indication prior to this that there was a problem with the trackpad, and I have already tried restarting the computer a few times. Has anyone else had this problem or know of any solutions?
Thanks for all of your help!

I work as a repair tech, and just recently had a system come across my desk with identical symptoms. Replaced the trackpad and it worked great. If it's still in the initial warranty period, take it in to get that replaced.

"Fix?" To my knowledge there is no widespread problem (I have none myself).

  • Problem with trackpad and keyboard on Macbook Pro

    Hello,
I have a Macbook Pro Early '09 (I got it about 1 month ago used) and yesterday a problem occurred. Suddenly, as I was typing a message, the keyboard stopped responding and the trackpad started acting up. Whenever I tapped with 1 finger, it would mark the text or would show the right-click options ("Copy, Cut, Paste" etc on text or "New Folder" etc on desktop).
I restarted it thinking that it would probably solve the problem, but then I couldn't even log in, because not all keys were working, so I couldn't enter the password. Pressing "O" seemed to work -not always though-, but other keys didn't. I logged in as guest user, since no password is required for that, and tried typing a URL on Google Chrome, just to see what happens. there I noticed that sometimes the F letter key would work as right arrow and A as left.
I should finally note that certain applications would not open lately (for the past weeks) and would "quit unexpectedly" (HDRtist and Inkscape, to be specific).
So, maybe it needs a Disk Utility Repair? Is it possible that this would solve both problems? But how do i do that if I can't log in as admin?
It would be better to find a way to solve this on my own without having to pay for the repair.
    Any ideas?
I know it's a common problem and that it's been posted many times, but most answers on other discussions have confused me so far.
I've read about the tape under the battery thing, but I'd prefer a different solution if anyone can offer one.
Thank you in advance. I appreciate it.

I have read of people saying Resetting SMC fixes stuck touchpad drag problems. In order to do this you must typically remove the battery.  I think it was the act of battery removal that fixed it and not the act of clearing SMC memory.
If your Macbook battery is removable and is located directly under your touchpad a bloated swollen battery could be the problem.
    Try this:
    Remove battery
Connect to magsafe power and boot up.
    Try using your touchpad
If this fixes the problem you likely have a swollen or bloated lithium battery.  My symptoms on my 15" late 2008 Macbook Pro were that the touchpad acted like it was stuck in drag mode.  The bottom left and right touchpad switches would not click or took great effort to press. I had to hit the touchpad very hard for a mouse click to be recognized.  It also screwed up opration of my bluetooth mouse. I noticed several months earlier the battery cover no longer closed tightly; there was a gap.   I should have been more curious as to why.

It may also be caused by extreme changes in temperature. More often than not, battery bloat essentially “kills” the battery, rendering it unusable or unsafe for further use."

  • IMac as an external display, problem with trackpad/mouse pairing

    Hi,
I am trying to use the imac as an external display for a macbook air, which is well supported/advertised by apple.
I can toggle the display easily between the imac and the macookair, the problem I’m having is that I only have one wireless keyboard and one wireless trackpad. As I toggle the display, the paring/unpairing of both trackpad and mouse is a real hastle becuase I have to manually go into bluetooth preferences and adjust the settings for both devices.
Anyone using the imac as external display with an idea/suggestion how to make this process more friendly?
Thank in advance for any help.

I don't think you can.  Wish I had better news.  Target display mode for non-thunderbolt 27" Imacs worked OK.  I have done it myself on a late 2009 iMac.  The new iMacs can only go into target display mode when connected thunderbolt to thunderbolt.  So a new macbook or macbook air can do the trick but your dell can't.  What you can do is remote desktop or VNC to the dell.  Now your dell screen will show up but in a smaller window.

  • Problem with Trackpad on OSX Lion

I just downloaded the OSX Lion. After 5 miutes of enjoying the new features, I undesrstood that I can't open the files on my desktop with 2 clicks. The same goes for my documents. I have to click 3 times in order to run them. All my work is on this computer and to be honest clicking 3 times to run something slows it down.
Does anyone know how I can fix this or change it back to 2 clicks?

Do you have the Magic Trackpad, or some other brand?
In either case, open System Preferences/Trackpad, and view the options at your disposal. Make sure everything is checked. You can vary the gestures by checking the boxes.
    Solved? Post with your results.

  • Problem with mouse gestures on an iMac

all of them work except the double click with two fingers to bring up mission control, for some reason it just doesnt work
any1 else having this problem using the mighty mouse and not a trackpad?

"full" is 250,000 images, so I don't think so. More likely, a damaged database.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Problem with trackpad after upgrading to osx 10.4.10

after i upgraded to the latest version of osx my trackpad started to malfunction.
the trackpad tab is not shown in the mouse and keyboard settings and it gives a message trackpad tab is hidden because, trackpad is not installed in this computer.. m not able to scroll and use right click.
    please help!!!

OK, I used WhatSize to free up my hard drive considerably.
I know have 30 GB available out of 56 GB.
Unfortunately the same signs and symptoms are appearing.
The project loads quickly. I can the drag the playhead with ease through out the project and play any individual clip without any issue. But again, playing it in full results in slow, distorted audio as if its 5 seconds behind and in extreme slow motion.
Would copying the project back to my main hard drive and trying to work out of it there provide any results?

  • Problem with trackpad - clicking by touch

Since upgraded to ML, trackpad clicks by touch every time I rest my fingers on it for more than 2 or 3 seconds. With Lion, I need to PRESS and physical click the trackpad. This is very very irritating since I need to move the fingers away from the trackpad all the time.
Is this a normal behavior? Can I disable it?

That's the point. Tap to click is disable. The difference is if I tap nothing happens, but If I leave the fingers touching the trackpad for more than 3 seconds aprox the click action is executed.

  • Problem with trackpad

My mother just recive a new macbook 2.4 ghz
When i put my hand on the right or the left of the trackpad (on the computer) it's make a click...
In other worlds : i can clik just by pressing the macbook... That's make a lot of trouble to use and i would lik to now if it's happend to someone else ?
Thank's for your answers and sorry for my english...

Is it possible that it is the way the Trackpad is set? Go to System Preferences, and select 'Keyboard & Mouse'. Then choose 'Trackpad' and ensure there are no boxes ticked if you don't want to be able to select /click by use of the trackpad.
Hope I've understood the problem, and that it's not more serious.

  • Problem with trackpad/clicker

The clicker on my powerbook is not responding properly, does not grab/open items or kicks the window into the dock. I have resorted to tapping on my trackpad instead. Any ideas on how to fix the clicker would be greatly apprecicated.

to make sure it's not a software issue, maybe try booting off the OS install disc and see how it works.
if it still does not work properly, top case would have to be replaced - trackpad is built in into a top case and can't be replaced separetly

  • Many Problem with Gestures

I have problems with the gesture of two fingers on safari, it works sometimes.
Sometimes I can not move on with a gesture of two fingers, the page stays in the middle and does not work forward or backward.
Also I have problems dragging and dropping at times to drop the item still in the air and I need to click twice to drop.
Macbook pro late 2008 (i use Integrated Trackpad)

There's limited funtionality on the 635 and 630, so perhaps your phone isn't meant to support it.
What issues are you actually having? Have you ticked the appropriate settings (mine works fine on 1020)
