Problem with transpaort directory

Hi All,
We are facing the strange problem...functional consultant and ABAPers are creating transport request but these request are not coming to DATA and COFILES at OS level...can anybody tell me wot could be the reason and corrective measure?...thank and regards.
regards,
Vikram

Hi Vikram,
You need to check authorizations for /usr/trans/data and /usr/trans/cofiles.
For this go to transaction AL11 and go to /usr/trans. next thing do a single click on data/cofile in order to select them. Once you have selected one of them press the pushbutton Attributes(on top left hand corner of the screen). Check the value of Mode. It should atleast be 775. This is for Unix.
Further check that <sid<adm is either an owner or part of groups which have access to this directory. For this please contact your adminsitrator who has OS level access.
Further also check if the all the profile parameters:
DIR_TRANS
DIR_TRFILES
DIR_TRSUB
are pointing to /usr/trans. If not then this is also a problem.
Please award points for useful info.
Regards.
Ruchit.

Kiran,
Start you J2EE engine visual administrator.
Choose Cluster--> server ---> services ---> deploy
Here there will be one application/service named "directory" (dont remember the exact name).Please start that service and your problem should be solved.
Thanks,
Anand

• Problems with Active Directory and Windows 2003

Hello,
I'm using Mac OS X Server 10.4.9 with Active Directory bound to a Windows 2003 Active Directory Domain. I can bind successfully to the domain using the graphical interface. Then in Samba I can access shared directories using Windows users. However, after some time somehow there are problems and Windows users aren't authenticated anymore on the Mac. I've looked at the firewall and there are no denied packets from the Mac. There are two servers in the domain, all clocks are synchronized and domain information is up to date. When I unbind the Mac, I can see the machine account being deleted on both domain servers and created too on both machines when I bind to the domain.
Problems occur when I try login in using ssh or samba do I think this is a problem with the AD module.
I turned on debugging messages on DirectoryServices:
sudo killall -USR1 DirectoryService
When in Windows, using the Administrator user I try:
net use \\10.0.0.1 /user:domain\Administrator
Where 10.0.0.1 is the Mac.
In the Mac I get from
tail -f /Library/Logs/DirectoryService/DirectoryService.debug.log |grep ADPlug

I really don't know what to do. The Windows Event log shows no messages. The link used to work and there have been no changes in the domain servers.
The key line seems to be:
2007-06-27 10:48:43 CDT - ADPlugin: Failed getting credentials at line 2687 in ADSEngine.mm
But I don't know what that ADSEngine.mm is.

Hello.
Thanks for your reply.
I tried the net use with a drive letter with and without the /user switch. When I use a domain user domain\user1 I can't connect. When I use a user local to the XServe it works.
When I use
net use x: \\10.0.0.1\share /user:domain\user1
I get prompted for a password, but it doesn't work.
I checked the firewall and all packets to or from the mac are accepted, no denied or dropped packages.
I already went through the MS document on fw ports. Before I opened to Kerberos ports the binding failed. No the binding work OK.
Some users who were authenticated yesterday still can access files using the Windows domain accounts. It's new users trying to connect those who have problems.
This is what the Samba log.smbd log shows:

• Problem with finding directory

Hi,
I built an application on Windows and I have to find a document within another directory. I am using getAbsolutepath and I am having problems with the following type of path:
File test = new File("u1/usr/my program/myFile/")
if(test.isDirectory())
this works on Windows, however it doesn't work on Unix....I also tried the following on Unix
File test = new File("u1/usr/my\\ program/myFile/")
if(test.isDirectory())
and it also doesn't work.
thanks in advance for any help!

I just made a directory with a space in it (on Linux) and created a file to find it, and it worked fine. I have the directory
/home/joshua/my directory
And made the call
File file = new File("/home/joshua/my directory");and the file did exist and was a directory.
Try testing the call with
System.out.println("file = " + file.getAbsolutePath());
And make sure that that file exists.

• Replication problem with iPlanet directory server 5.1 SP2 HF1

If I make a apply a change to either of consumer servers for an entry that belongs to the large database, that change does get applied to the consumer targated but it can not refer the change to teh master. Neither the master, nor the other consumers get updated consequently. I did not have this problem with directory server 5.1 SP1. I only see this problem after I apply directory server 5.1 SP2 HF1.
From the error log file, I see the following message:
NSMMReplicationPlugin - repl_set_mtn_referrals: could not set referrals for replica

I have a suggestion - try another means for administering your directory - use the console only for maintenance and tuning purposes. There are several products out there that are much better for day to day operations ...
Otherwise - I think with 5.1 the view is based on the rdn of the entries - and I am not sure it is customizable. Additionally I know 5.2 solved your second issue - maybe the latest SP of 5.1 has solved it as well - though I don't really know ...

• Hal, usbdisk, kde - a problem with /media/* directory

Hello,
I am havng a problem with my usbdisk. At first it's mounted at /media/sda1, then during hibernation (kernel23archck, hibernate-scripts, suspend to disk) the script unloads usb modules. When I start the computer again my usbdisk becomes /media/sdb1 and the previous directory becomes empty. Is it possible to force hal to mount my usbdisk always in the same directory e.g. /media/usbdisk ???
Thanks in advance.
mdv

I have a similar problem, when ever I put in an usb pin in mounts it first as sda1, but if I take it out and put it in again, it mounts as sdb1, and sda1 is still mounted in the media directory, so now I have both sda1 and sdb1 mounted, although the sda1 directory is empty.
Why doesn't hal unmount the usb pin after I take it out?

• Problem with save directory in photobooth

I installed Leopard this week and when I go into photobooth I get this message:
There was a problem creating the photo save directory /Users/Pictures/Photobooth. Your photos cannot be saved.
Has anyone else seen this? Do you know what to do? I have problems with the new background features in video chat and photobooth.

Welcome to Apple Discussions, lillolablue
Photo Booth works fine on my PPC Macs, but I do not have an iNtel Mac to test your problem.
You can eliminate iSight as a possible contributor to your problems by using these tips:
      http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93240
If your iSight works in other user accounts or other applications as suggested in the above link, got back to the user account where you have the problem. Be sure Photo Booth is not running. Then throw away the "com.apple.PhotoBooth.plist" file. (It is in your Home > Library > Preferences folder.) Restart Photo Booth.

• Problems with Active Directory Users showing as not found in Open Directory work group manager

I’m running a golden triangle setup with Open directory assigning group policy and authentication provide by active directory. In workgroup manager I can search through the AD and add users or computers to groups in OD workgroup manager. However when I save and refresh the users or computer appear as ‘not found’. Is there a reason for this?

Hi Zero
It's very reassuring to know im not the only one having issues with this..
Im on my second re install of the server.. I like you have no wish to do another clean install as everything else is connected and it seems like the answer is probably very simple.
So today im going to re- run the terminal commands as layed out in the online guides.
However i was kinda hoping someone would be able to supply us with an answer.
thanks

Thanks in Advance
Regards,
Amit

Hi,
We had the same problem where we needed to show more than 1000 character, but it was showing only 513.
It will not create any problem.
When you download, you will get full length.
Please check with your basis team, they may help you.

• Problem with zipping directory

Running 10.6.8
Directory has EVERYONE R/W access
when I try to COMPRESS , I receive a message:
The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access “.DS_Store”. with OK button.
It is so annoying and its NOT OK getting this message at all.
The directory/files were received via email as a single ZIP made on Windows system. Unzipped without any problems, except directory had a READ ONLY permissions. Changed that to R/W for EVERYONE to enter.
Than while trying zipping it back ... this annoying message appears on the screen.
Anyone from Apple will be able to help ??????

Root user is available. I don't think I need to tell you to use it with care (but I just did anyway )
How to enable the root user
Mac OS X v10.6 and later
1. From the Apple menu choose System Preferences....
2. From the View menu choose Accounts.
3. Click on the lock and authenticate with an administrator account.

• Logon problem with Active Directory

I maintain iMacs and Mac Pros connected to a Windows campus network using a combination of Mac OS X's Active Directory utility and DAVE, a Windows file and print sharing software from Thursby Software. I have found that a handful of users cannot connect to the network. They can log on, but they get the default screen and the sparse default Dock. The campus network services are not available to them.
I have found on studying the issue is that their active directory accounts of aliases in lower-case letters; in contrast, the vast majority have aliases in upper-case letters. Evidently, users with upper-case aliases in their Active Directory accounts can enjoy full network access, whereas those with lower-case aliases do not.
Is there an underlying issue here that keeps users with lower-case aliases from accessing both Apple and network resources, or should I look elsewhere for the cause?

There are several folders in the User Template on Leopard. One, English.lproj, is what I use to store the user template settings. There are also two others, user.template and non-localized.
user.template is a truly root-level folder which is inaccessible from the Aqua visual interface; when unlocked its icon turns into a folder. In terminal mode, logged on as root, I found a basic set of folders. I decided to leave those alone.
non-localized appears to be the same thing as English.lproj; it certainly has the same set of user folders. I decided to copy the folders and settings I made for English.lproj into non-localized. I invited another person with the lower-case alias problem to log on. He got the entire configuration, wallpaper, Dock and all. I confirmed this with the same person I had test the log on yesterday. He too got the whole config.
So it is evident that Leopard was using information from LDAP/AD to determine which template to download. The majority with the upper-case aliases gets the configuration from the English.lproj folder; the lower-case-alias minority get the non-localized configuration, i.e., nothing at all. Knowing this, I can now prepare our iMacs to accommodate everyone.

• Strange login problem with Open Directory

Hi,
I created a web tool that calls dscl to create users in Open Directory from a bound web server.
Most of the accounts work fine. A couple do not. The particular account in question could login to machines in one computer group, but not on others, using the login window. But it could login on the command-line via su.
Now here's the kicker. I deleted the user completely and re-created the user account with the same login name, and assigned it to the same groups as other new accounts that work fine. The problem persists.
The only thing I've found that indicates a problem is the following from the ldap log:
Sep 17 10:36:14 poseidon slapd[61]: Entry (uid=<username changed>,cn=users,dc=<redacted>,dc=<redacted>,dc=<redacted>): object class 'posixAccount' requires attribute 'homeDirectory'
(note the redactions and username were put in by me...paranoia etc)
I used 'Inspector' in Workgroup Manager and verified that the account does in fact have the required homeDirectory attribute, and the account is not unlike other accounts that work fine, save the username and unique ID.
I hope this provides enough info for someone to give some guidance...this is certainly a strange problem.
Thanks ahead of time!

• Problem with custom Directory - for advanced directories

Hello dear peoples,
i would create simple easy custom directory.
I know there 5 diferent directories from Adobe AIr
How do i know about current coding?
I have been tired becasue it doesn't work because File or String
Look Like this Simple create customdirectory for userPicturesDirectory or any
userPicturesDirectory = C:\Users\<Username>\Pictures, <VolumeName>/Users/<Username>/Pictures and /home/<Username>/Pictures
I have been created this code:
package sm.System
import flash.filesystem.File;
import flash.system.Capabilities;
public class Paths extends File
UserDirectory
public static var userPicturesDirectory:File = _userPictures();
Public function
private static function _userPictures():File
File.userDirectory.resolvePath("Pictures");
return userPicturesDirectory;
public function Paths():void
userPicturesDirectory;
super();
Than i am trying for Adobe Air - Why does Air not show in textinput ?
I have been copied from compiled swc into Test Project with Adobe AIr.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:WindowedApplication xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute" applicationComplete="init()">
<mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
import flash.filesystem.File;
import sm.System.Paths;
protected function init():void
userPicDir.text = Paths.userPicturesDirectory;
]]>
</mx:Script>
<mx:TextInput id="userPicDir" left="10" right="10" top="10"/>
</mx:WindowedApplication>
Now i test once Starting of Adobe Debug launcher.
Why does it not show? What does it happen?
Or i have been worng coded?
Thanks for replies!

Hi BalusC,
thanks for the quick answer. I tried it as you said and now I get a validation error in my h:messages tag on my jsf page after submitting the form. There are no errors in my JBoss console, just this one word on my jsf page. Do you have any idea what this could mean?
My two lists look like this:
private ArrayList<GroupBean> selectedItems = new ArrayList<GroupBean>();
private ArrayList<SelectItem> allGroups = new ArrayList<SelectItem>();The allGroups list gets filled like this:
for (GroupBean group: groups){
allGroups.add(new SelectItem(group, group.getName()));
}where groups is a simple collection of GroupBeans which I read from the database. This seems to be correct; at least my list of checkboxes shows the correct group names.
Now here is my selectManyCheckbox:
<t:selectManyCheckbox id="sensor_access" value="#{sensorBacker.selectedItems}" layout="pageDirection" layoutWidth="3">
<f:selectItems value="#{sensorBacker.allGroups}"/>
</t:selectManyCheckbox>Any idea what goes wrong here?
Thanks for your help!

• Installation/Config Problem with Sun Directory Server Control Center (6.0)

Hi All,
I have recently attempted an installation of Sun Directory Server EE 6.0 on a x86 Solaris 10 machine.
I have selected to install Core Directory Server and Sun Directory Server Control Center with my installation.
After installation, if I check the status of the SUNDSCC, I receive the following message:
bash-3.00# ./dsccsetup status
DSCC Application is not installed
DSCC Agent is registered in Cacao
DSCC Registry has been created
Path of DSCC registry is /var/opt/SUNWdsee/dscc6/dcc/ads
Port of DSCC registry is 3998
I have also tried to re-start the Sun Java Web Console using the /usr/sbin/smcwebserver start command but that does not do anything.
If i try to initialize the SUNDSCC usin the ./dsccsetup initialize command, the registry got created, but it still displays as "application not installed".
I do not understand. I have already installed this application using the JES installer.
please help!
Regards,
Saahil Goel

I had a similar issue. Here is how I fixed it.
Run dsccsetup status with the -v option. it will show you where it is trying to find the DSCC Application. Then do a find on your system to see where it is actually installed. Then simply copy it over to where dsccsetup is looking for it. Then do dsccsetup initialize. Below is what it looked like on my system when I did it:
# ./dsccsetup status -v
## /usr/sbin/smreg is present
## /usr/sbin/smcwebserver is present
## /opt/server/sun/dscc6/dccapp is MISSING

• Problem with iPlanet Directory server v5.1

Hi all,
We have upgraded (parallel) from Netscape Directory server v4.2 to iPlanet Directory Server v5.1
Here are few issues that Im experiencing.
1. In the directory view, all accounts are displayed by the user ID rather then the Common Name like it used to be with the Netscape Directory Server.
I can not find any options to change the view.
2. When searching for the user, once user is found, i can not do the right click to be able to delete the user. (was able to in the older version).
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated,
Thanks

I have a suggestion - try another means for administering your directory - use the console only for maintenance and tuning purposes. There are several products out there that are much better for day to day operations ...
Otherwise - I think with 5.1 the view is based on the rdn of the entries - and I am not sure it is customizable. Additionally I know 5.2 solved your second issue - maybe the latest SP of 5.1 has solved it as well - though I don't really know ...
