Problem with turning off.

All of a sudden my Ipod won't turn off. I hold down the button like I use to turn it off, but nothing happens. Can anyone help?

Pressing Pause for 3 seconds puts the unit in "Standby." All I can decipher from this term is that it turns of the bright white light on the unit. However, the harddrive continues to spin, remain hot and make clicking noises in a quiet bedroom. Not something I want to hear.
So, it doesn't put the unit "Asleep", like when your MacBook sleeps.

Problems with turning off Parental Control

For research, I turned on Parental Controls. Since I don't have kids, I turned them off again.
However, I still get blocked on some web pages, regardless of browser.
I already killed the parental control daemon.
How can I remove the limitations of the parental controls completely?

Update:
I found that it only affects a handful of URLs I tried in Safari and Firefox with the controls turned on and immediately after turning off again; Opera seems to not have any restrictions (I never tried Opera during all of this).
Where is the block saved? What do I have to delete to remove the block? For now, I can access everything in Opera, but I like Firefox more.

IPod Nano Problem with Turning On

Right I've got a bit of a problem with turning on the nano. I know it works because when its on it's fine, but if its off for a while (i.e. 30 mins or more) and I go to press play or whatever, nothing happens. But if I press any of the buttons about 100 times it will come on and work fine.
Has anyone had this problem and know if there's anything I can do about it. It seems like the buttons don't work properly, but it can't be that because they work when its on.
Here's what I know it's not:
Battery (its full)
In need of a restore (tried that)
Reset (tried that)
In need of new software (just put the latest on)
So any help would be greatly appreciated.

You cannot use someone else's serial number or Apple Care Plan--it doesn't work that way.
I noticed you had another post that said the mini was given to you and has a "sad face icon" and out of warranty. Hummmm.
You really have to send that mini in for repair/replacement or consider it a lost cause. Maybe it is time to buy an iPod Nano for yourself.

My ipod suddenly rebooted for a second time, also problems with turning on

My 32gb ipod touch has been having problems recently. Sometimes when I have no music playing and I sleep it, it just turns off. Sometimes when I have no music playing and I sleep it, it goes to the last thing I was doing (without going to the password screen), shows a loading sign, then turns off. Also, When loading something, the ipod sometimes freezes and the song is like a broken record. Also, to turn on my ipod I have to turn it on once, hold down the home and sleep buttons for ten seconds, then turn it on again, then I have to wait an average of four minutes. So today (this also happened two weeks ago) my ipod froze while my music was paused. I tried turning it on again the usual way, but that didn't work. I left it alone while it had the apple logo on it. I came back and found the screen off, which usually means that it turned on finally and was just auto locked. But then the screen came up from when I first got the ipod, with the symbol of the connector cable going towards the itunes symbol. As i mentioned before, this happened two weeks ago, and I had to resync everything, and I lost all the data and save files for all my games. Also, I have downloaded a lot more apps since I rebooted it last time, and I never synced them to the computer. Before wasting my time again, I want to know if there's anything wrong with my ipod.

The only way to turn off the ipod is to use the sleep/wake button and then turning the red slider. The only setting to switch it off automatically would be the Timer function:
Timer
Set the timer: Tap Timer, then flick to set the number of hours and minutes. Tap Start to start the timer.
Choose the sound: Tap When Timer Ends.
Set a sleep timer: Set the timer, then tap When Timer Ends and choose Sleep iPod.
When you set a sleep timer, iPod touch stops playing music or video when the timer ends.
If you start the timer and go to another iPod touch application, the timer continues
running in the background. (user guide page 89)
And if the batteries are almost empty the ipod will turn off by itself and you will have difficulties to start it up again until you charged it a couple of minutes.

Problem when turning off

Everytime i'm going to turn my macbook pro off for some reason there's a software ( or anything like that ) called ''mirroragent'' and it's probably not virus because i've had that problem since my first or second day with my ''new'' notebook..
can anyone tell or explain these problems to me? it really annoys me when i'm using my duo core mac and it freezes when is going to turn off.. please, help needed here. it's not the memory nor the processor ( i guess ), it's probably something else..

problem with the mirroragent, the only thing that really annoys me in my mac, i'm a newbie with macs but i've tried all kinds of things to fix this problem.. and it's really annoying.. i mean, it's not a big deal, but i've paid a good price for my macbook pro and i have a certain feeling that i've wasted my money buying my laptop because it freezes a little ( nothing comparing to most of computers i ever had ) i know, i know, it's not the point, i just wanted to fix this... if it's possible it's REALLY annoying.

The information on this page seems to imply that Log4j
will not be used AT ALL if one is using Java 1.4.x.
Here's a quote from that page
"When using JDK 1.4 or higher, the built-in logging package provided by
the java.util.logging package will be used."
I didn't really want to use that package but it did work for me.
I copied a default logging.properties file to ../WEB-INF/classes
and changed the INFO verbosity level (on '.level' line) to SEVERE.
Then, set the environment variable CATALINA_OPTS to include
a runtime property argument to Java (as hinted in 'catalina.sh').
For me, under tcsh, this looks like (following should be on one line):
% setenv CATALINA_OPTS
'-Djava.util.logging.config.file="logging.properties"'
Now when Tomcat starts up, it passes this option to Java,
the catalina.out file in 'logs' is (mercifully) very small
and doesn't have any Kodo logging in it.
I hope this helps, but if you ever find out how to use Log4j,

My guess is that the log4j.properties is not being picked up in the proper
classpath. As I recall, certain versions of Tomcat include Jakarta
logging which may take control of the logging mechanism.
I recommend setting the System properties explictly for a Log impl (see
Jakarta's website at jakarta.apache.org) and NOT rely on default
"discovery" techniques. I would even go a step further and explictly
control log4j's configuration as well.

Mega PC 180 Problems when turned off...

I have a problem with my Mega PC 180.
The problem consists of that when I turn off the computer for more than a day when I then turn on the computer doesnt find my the inbuilt soundcard. Sometimes I have to re install it and sometime I just have to turn off the computer pull out the powercoord put it back and reboot.
This only happends then the computer is turned of for a longer period of time (More than a day)
Anyone with a solution och with the same problem ?

M93p dual monitor problems; monitor turns off and cannot be turned on again

we have multiple M93p tiny computers causing problems in dual monitor setup (VGA / Displayport->DVI). Our users (already >5) keep telling us, they leave their workplace, return, then DVI attached monitor if off and they do not find a way to turn it on. This is true; the only workaround that has been found by our users is to bring Win7/32bit into standby mode and awaking it again.
Needless to say, we turned all windows energy saving options off (computer standby/hibernate, monitor turn off). Still the problem appears.
Maybe there is something wrong with DVI power/DVI signal?
- Monitor independent, as far as I can see
- Independent from Windows energy saving modes
- BIOS updates did not help

I haven't seen exactly when the monitor turns off because it is reported by users. I had a testing machine, but was not able to reproduce.

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.

Problems with turning on iphone5

Hi folks,
My iphone5 was fully charged when its screen all of a sudden went blue (it is brand new, has been only 5-6 days in use). I was able to turn it off but now can't turn it on. Tried charging for half an hour, holding both the power and home bottons for 30 or 40 secs, itunes doesn't recognize it since it will not turn on. Nothing helps. What should I do? Can't take to the store to get repaired - not in the US. any help? seems like it's a common problem with iphones.

Without knowing any errors it is impossible to determine exactly what happened. If you are concerned about the phone you can always make an appointment with a genius bar at your local Apple Store for them to check it.

Clusters problem solved - turned off networking...

Howdy...
For several months my single MacPro (8 core) had no issues running a quick cluster with 4 instances. Then, for some reason, it the cluster would not show up in compressor. Sometimes it would show up after a reboot, or after waiting for a time, and then go away again when I submitted a 2nd job. The instability has become very unnerving...
Then, after reading many posts, I tried making my Ethernet connection inactive.
Oddly enough, this seems to have completely solved my problem. If I turn off my network connection, the cluster shows up immediately and I can submit my jobs with glee. If I reactivate my network connection, the cluster disappears from Compressor and Batch Monitor once again...
I've tried reinstalling FCS2 with no luck, but this is a good temporary work around...
Anyone have any idea why this is happening, or if there is a better fix?

Problems with shutting off/crashing

I have an iPod video that is about 8 months old. I have about 13.5 Gb of files on it, the vast majority being music files at a high quality setting. The software is updated as of time of writing.
I have a problem with the iPod turning itself off.
Essentially, if I carry my iPod in a pocket, even with the wheel lock on, I risk the iPod suddently turning itself off mid song. A black screen appears with a very faint shadow screen as it was immediately before the crash. This seems to happen when it is jogged or it is moved (for example, moving it with my hand when I put my hand into my pocket to take it out) or when the wheel is lightly pressed.
It doesn't happen every time, but for example, I have decided to post after it did this five times on the trot whilst I was at the gym, three times when I was just putting it into my pocket.
As an aside, the thing just eats battery power.
Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what might be wrong and/or fixes?

Help with turning off in-camera selected aspect ratios - Please!

I shoot a Olympus e-P2. It allows me to change the aspect ratio of the file i.e. 4:3, 16:9 etc. I like to use this feature as 'masks' when I shoot to help with composition. When I open the RAW file in bridge or Camera Raw, this pre-selected aspect is automatically cropped from the file. I want to see the entire file, not the cropped version. The Oly software gives me this option, but I can't figure out how to turn off this 'feature' in Bridge or Camera Raw. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your adobe product is only doing what the camera data told it to. However, in the raw converter you can try activating the crop tool then right click the image and choose to remove the crop. That may work (or not).

Turn the computer off by holding down the power button, then get your original DVD that came with the Macbook insert it in the DVD drive as soon as you can and then hold down the "C" key while the computer restarts and then run disk utility on your hard drive, also repair your permissions.
