Problem with twitter - Virus?

It seems like a small problem but I'm working on my masters dissertation and I really could do without and virus and not knowing whats going on.
I got a DM from someone I knew and opened it, realised it was fake and closed the tab immedaitely. Nothing happened straight away but now when I go to the twitter webpage it looks like it will only load HTML and no CSS.
I know this becuase I looked up loads of solutions, I've tried deleting my Cache, deleting cookies and I've installed updates and reset safari.  I also downladed firefox to see if the issue continued and it was exactly the same.. the page loaded only to a list form, apparently HTML
HELP.  Not accessing twitter is fine I'm just really worried about possible viruses.

Then it is due to technical problems of the Twitter's Server. Nope, it's not a virus. Have some patience & wait for sometime.

  • Problem with Twitter for Mac notifications

    Hello,
I have a strange problem with Twitter for Mac. On both my home and office Macs. New posts appear in app window but there aren't any notifications even though notifications are set in preferences to show in both dock and menubar. Perhaps anyone noticed similar strange behaviour? I didn't find anything similar on Twitter forums.
    Thanks in advance.

go to Terminal and post this:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchSe rvices.framework/support/lsregister -kill -seed
if it doesn't have that specific directory try this:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchSe rvices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -seed
once the scanning is done (can be short or long, depends on how heavy your system is) RESTART the computer.
when you're back, go to Apple>system preferences>extensions.... guess who's there.
    I hope it helped.

  • Problem with Twitter

Are any other BT users having trouble using Twitter? This is what I now get. I've done a power cycle on the hub - no difference. I've tried using another PC on a different ISP and different phone line which works fine. I also tried my laptop which is connected wirelessly to my hub and it's the same - the blue screen shown below. There is no McAfee software on my PC or laptop. Is there an issue with BT's server(s) that is partly blocking Twitter? It was fine until earlier today.

There still appears to be problems with it. :/
Also, as discussed here, I'm unable to access Last FM
Anyone know what is going on, or know the best way to contact BT to let them know that there is a problem?

  • Updating firmware problem with kaspersky virus protection

Hi I am a new user and I am not sure if I am using this lenovo community feature the correct way. But I am having trouble with my computer and kaspersky virus proctection and I need a little help.. I don't have a warrnty plan and I was reading that I could recieve help from other lenovo users....

    Hi tea_rioss,
I'm not sure if i understand the problem. Are you having problem updating some kind of firmware while Kaspersky is running? Are you taking about the BIOS? Could you describe a bit more exactly what the problem are and if you see some errors please let us know what the error message is and what you are actually trying to do.
It's a good idea to provide some info about your system like what kind of Thinkpad you got and what kind of OS. Also what kind of firmware you are trying to update.
Even if i don't really understand what the problem is it sounds to me like you have some issues with Kaspersky and not the computer. This is a Lenovo forum and you posted under the "Thinkpad T61 and prior T series" section so if you got some problems with Kaspersky it might be a better idea to post in the kaspersky support forum.
If you believe your problem is related to the computer please provide some info about the problem and your system as well as what you are actually trying to do.

  • Safari problems with Twitter & Google Docs

Has anyone else been having problems recently using Google Docs & Twitter in Safari (I'm currently using 5.0.1)?
    *For Google Docs:*
It logs in sometimes very slowly to show me my list of Docs. Then when I actually am able to open a doc, it continues to say "Working..." at the top and "Loading https://spreadsheets..." at the very bottom.
    *For Twitter:*
Things seem to load ok, but it will not let me post a Tweet. Also when typing in the "What's happening?" box, the 140 character count does not count down. The Tweet button is also dull/ghosted/grayed out. I found this article: http://support.twitter.com/articles/136114-tweets-don-t-post-after-pressing-the- tweet-button-known-issue/20 mentioning what sounds like a similar problem, but I checked and I have Java enabled.
    Very frustrating

Ok.. WEIRD.. Just as a thought I turned off all Safari Extensions and it instantly fixed all of my problems. I then thought there was a bug in a specific Extension I had installed. I turned the Extensions back on though and things are still working fine. I did notice one of my Extensions had an update ready to install.
Things are still working fine for me, though I don't know if it was an issue with Extensions in general or a specific one I had. Here is a list of the Extensions I currently have installed:
    Twitter for Safari
    Exposer
    Facebook Photo Zoom
    Access Keys
    Awesome Screenshot
Anyone else have these Extensions installed?

  • [SOLVED] firefox problems with Twitter and google+

I've been having some issues with firefox. I don't know if they are related, but they've been getting on my nerves.
First off, Twitter just shows a blank page with the background picture. I can't view any twitter posts at all.
Secondly, pages which check for browser compatibility all seem to report that my browser isn't supported (it is). For example, Google+ gives me a "Your Browser is no longer supported." page while the list of supported browsers states: "Linux : Chrome, Firefox 3.6 and up".
I'm using the latest version of firefox from extra (7.0.1-1). Also, these problems are not new to this version, as they have been occurring for as long as I've had this computer (~10 months). Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Disabling the plugins did nothing, but creating a new profile seems to have fixed it.
I still don't know what caused the problems, but I've migrated all my stuff over to the new profile and everything is working well. I'm marking this thread as solved, thanks for the help!

  • I am having so many problems with my ipads and my computers since I upgraded to Yosemite on my desktop!  I have never been so frustrated with Apple.  My apple at work also has a virus problem and my other MAC keeps rebooting!!  My MAC at home burned

Problems with Yosemite: virus (malware), rebooting, burned hard drive, ipads keep losing wifi.

You're going to have to be more specific about the symptoms you're seeing. At the moment, I really have almost no idea at all what's going on. Also, be aware that upgrading your Mac to Yosemite has no effect whatsoever on your iPads.
If you're having a lot of ad problems or redirects in the web browsers on all these devices, you probably have some kind of network compromise, such as hacked network hardware:

  • Problems with apps and safari since installing Yosemite

I could have shot myself after installing Maverick when it cam out but after a zillion updates and finally a 100 mile drive to the nearest Apple store and the genius bar it seemed to be working fine.  I dreaded installing Yosemite but as I have and iPad mini, and Yosemite is billed to work more harmoniously with that, I did the download.  Since then and even following the recent 'update', opening Safari takes forever, I get the rainbow wheel of doom. There is frequently a delay between my typing (about 35 words per minute) and actually seeing the curser and letters on screen, and often webpages just dump.  Other times, apps or webpages will just spontaneously pop open.  Sometimes Safari can't connect to pages.  Not my wifi as if I just choose another page it is fine.  I am actually back to using Chrome because I don't seem to have the same problems as with Safari.....  go figure.  5 years ago after years of pc's and the frustration of having hardware and software that were specifically made for each other, I thru in the towel and paid the bucks for a MacPro laptop and I loved my first three years.  Now, my machine ***** as does Safari!! an Apple app!  I feel like I need to debug, but I don't have any thing like MacKeeper on it now (the Genius bar guy took MacKeeper off when I had that visit to solve the Maverick problems).  I'm tempted to reinstall it but I read so many posts saying that folks had problems with a virus that they attributed to MacKeeper.   So, anyone else having these same problems and can anyone recommend a good cleanup and maintenance software so I can clean this up?

    Do not install MacKeeper.
Back up your Mac if you have not already done so. To learn how to use Time Machine read Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac - Apple Support.
Determine if the same problems also occur in "Safe Mode":
Safe Mode or "Safe Boot" is a troubleshooting mode that bypasses all third party system extensions and loads only required system components. Read about it: Starting up in Safe Mode
You must disable FileVault before you can start your Mac in Safe Mode.
Starting your Mac in Safe Mode will take longer than usual, graphics will not render smoothly, audio is disabled on some Macs, and some programs (iTunes for example) may not work at all.
Merely starting your Mac in Safe Mode is not intended to resolve the problem, it's to observe its performance without certain additional components.
To end Safe Mode restart your Mac normally. Shutdown will take longer as well.

  • Upgrading to Mountain Lion... with a virus?

I would like to upgrade to Mountain Lion. I have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 currently. I think I have a virus though. If I upgrade, will the problems with the virus disappear? Or does that need to be remedied before I upgrade?
Also, what do I need to do before I update? Close all programs? Do I back everything up, then reinstall everything after the update? I have NO idea how this works...

As deggie asks, why do you think you have a virus? It's very unlikely that you have malware of any kind (see my Mac Malware Guide), but whatever problems you're having that lead you to blame a virus might cause an issue with upgrading. Let us know what's going on so we can better advise how to handle that problem. That problem should be eliminated prior to upgrading!
From a general perspective, when you upgrade, you need to do the following:
    1) Check all your software for compatibility with the new system.
    2) Repair the hard drive with Disk Utility.
    3) Make a full backup of your whole system using Time Machine.
    4) Ideally, make a second full backup of your whole system using something else, like Carbon Copy Cloner. (I consider two backups to be the minimum.)
    5) Wait until you have time to deal with any possible problems that crop up.
    6) Install the upgrade.
Some people recommend erasing your hard drive and installing the new system "cleanly." That certainly helps ensure that you don't have any problems with the new system, but is often unnecessary. I prefer to save clean installs for when they are actually necessary, but that is only an opinion. You can choose to do a clean install if you prefer.

  • TS3276 I have recently had a problem with one of my hotmail accounts, some sort of virus sending random emails to people in my address book. Hotmail advised me to change my password for that account, which I did. Why won't mail recognise the new password?

I have recently had a problem with one of my hotmail accounts, some sort of virus sending random emails from my address book. Hotmail advised me to delete all contacts and change the password for that account, which I did on my laptop running windows XP. The change was successful and I was able to send and receive emails with no problem. I then had to change the account password on my iPhone 4s, which I did and it too was successful but when I came to change the password on my iMac, running the latest version of Lion it would not recognise the new password. I have tried to remove the account details and re-install but every time I go to add new account my old details are in the box. This is very frustrating as I use my iMac for all my profects and I need to access my email. Please help.

    hi guys,
I had already deleted all reference to the hotmail account in question from the keychain access app, I have also tried to delete and re-instal the account details from within mail. The icon in the side bar dissapears but when I go to Add Account, the old account details are in the new account box. I then input my new password but am told that the server does not recognise it. If I access hotmail via google on the iMac I can get into my account with no problems. I am thinking there must be some other form of security system within the mac software that is blocking the new password. This is driving me nuts. I have been trying to resolve this for the last two days. Thank you for your advise anyway.

Those are not viruses. You have probably installed some malware:

    Helpful Links Regarding Malware Protection
An excellent link to read is Tom Reed's Mac Malware Guide.
Also, visit The XLab FAQs and read Detecting and avoiding malware and spyware.
    See these Apple articles:

OS X Lion- Protect your Mac from malware
OS X Mountain Lion- Protect your Mac from malware

If you require anti-virus protection Thomas Reed recommends using Dr.Web Light from the App Store. It's free, and since it's from the App Store, it won't destabilize the system. If you prefer one of the better known commercial products, then Thomas recommends using Sophos.(Thank you to Thomas Reed for these recommendations.) If you already use Sophos, then be aware of this if you are using Mavericks: OS X Mavericks- Sophos Anti-Virus on-access scanner versions 8.0 - 9.1 may cause unexpected restarts
From user Joe Bailey comes this equally useful advice:
    The facts are:
    1. There is no anti-malware software that can detect 100% of the malware out there.
    2. There is no anti-malware that can detect anything targeting the Mac because there
is no Mac malware in the wild, and therefore, no "signatures" to detect.
    3. The very best way to prevent the most attacks is for you as the user to be aware that
the most successful malware attacks rely on very sophisticated social engineering
techniques preying on human avarice, ****, and fear.
    4. Internet popups saying the FBI, NSA, Microsoft, your ISP has detected malware on
your computer is intended to entice you to install their malware thinking it is a
        protection against malware.
    5. Some of the anti-malware products on the market are worse than the malware
from which they purport to protect you.
    6. Be cautious where you go on the internet.
    7. Only download anything from sites you know are safe.
    8. Avoid links you receive in email, always be suspicious even if you get something
you think is from a friend, but you were not expecting.
    9. If there is any question in your mind, then assume it is malware.

  • I have always heard that Macs are less likely to get infected with a virus.  My computer has been running much slower since I installed Maverick.  Just not sure what the problem might be.  Is there a way for me to run a diagnosis?

I have always heard that Macs are less likely to get infected with a virus.  My computer has been running much slower since I installed Maverick.  Just not sure what the problem might be.  Is there a way for me to run a diagnosis?

Some have found relief just by reinstalling, but it is more than likely incompatible third-party applications that slow it down.
You will have to investigate to see what it is.
Open Activity Monitor and see if anything is using a lot of CPU% or Memory. If they are, check to see if there is an update for them.
Another place to look is the Console. See if anything is logging repeating messages with throttling and/or respawn in the All Messages list.
Sometimes it is not that easy to root out the problems, but if you have anything that purported to clean, protect, optimize, maintain, or flush your system, then that is likely the cause.

  • Has anyone else had problems with the latest system updates to Mac OS X v10.6.8 with the java virus patch?

After installing the latest updates to Snow Leopard the system hangs up and will not open properly.  This is the update to Java, etc after the virus was discovered.  I have done the updates on four different systems with the same result.

No problems with the Java update here, although I have Java disabled. Might try reapplying the Java standalone while in Safe Boot (Shift at startup chime), if you did it from Software Update.
