  • QT H.264 files with two audio tracks. Quicktime plays 2nd track first. ***?

I've been experimenting with H.264 (AVC) and my DVDs. Using Handbrake, I ripped a DVD to MP4 (H.264) and including the director's commentary as the second track.
When I play the MP4 with Quicktime Player, it plays the director's commentary instead of the main soundtrack. VLC, however, correctly plays the first track (main movie audio track) and it allows me to select the second track via a menu.
To get Quicktime to play the proper track, I have to open "Movie Properties" and manually uncheck the second track. This was never a problem with DivX/XviD encoded files with two audio tracks; Quicktime Player correctly played the first track.
Why does Quicktime ignore the first audio track in MP4s (but not AVIs) and is there a way to correct this?

    I do have QT Pro.
H.264 files are usually saved in a MP4 container. That's what Handbrake, ffpegX, and D-Vision create, anyway.
The "Choose Language" option is greyed out (unavailable) when I open this H.264 MP4 in Quicktime. If I try to change the settings in "Movie Properties," it says that I must save it with the .MOV file suffix.
It makes no sense to me that Quicktime Player can correctly identify the main audio soundtrack in a XviD file with an AVI container but not in a H.264 video with a MP4 container which Apple has been touting as the latest, greatest thing. Even VLC, an open source product still in beta, gets it right.

  • Why video with two audio tracks imports like one track (main)?

Ok, lets face one simple thing that is incredibly stupid in Premiere CC:
    - I make video with two audio tracks (screencast with system sounds and microphone, separated)
    - Import it to Premiere CC and see only one audio track, system sounds!
    - What should I do to see both of them?
    - Why Sony Vegas don't make me to go to support forums and make them both visible without extra actoins?

    Great first post!

  • How to burn a DVD with two audio track?

There is a projet with the original video and a second audio track with music. I want to burn a DVD with both audio tracks. When playing the DVD you should be able to select audio track 1 (the original sound) or audio track 2 (the music). With Adobe Encore DVD it was easy to configure the two audio tracks and burn the DVD. It is posible to do the same from Adobe Premier Elements 11?
    Thanks,

    Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, PrE does not allow for supplemental Audio Tracks, when authoring.
I use Adobe Encore for this, but it is only available bundled with Premiere Pro. I do not know if some other, third party, full-featured authoring apps., like Sony's DVD Architect can do that, but I would suspect that they can. The specifications for DVD Architect should have that information, and as it's quite common in full-featured authoring apps., I anticipate that it has that capability.
If you do go with that program, our MOD, Steve Grisetti, has written a very good book on DVD Architect, and it's available at Muvipix.com.

  • .avi movie with two audio tracks but QT only shows one

I have a .avi file. When I play it in the VLC Player I can choose between two different audio tracks (two different language tracks) but when I open the same file in QT I only get one track and of course it is the language I don't speak. Is there a way to get into this file and delete the track with the language I don't want so that when I open it in QT it plays the right track/language?
If you need more info please let me know.

  • Problems with stereo audio tracks

I'm recording from an external synthesizer, and it sounds really weak when I record in mono. So I switch over to stereo, where I record on Audio 1 on the track list (as it now represents the left side, while Audio 2 on the track list represents the right).
After recording, I copy the recorded region onto Audio 2 to create the stereo effect (i.e. Audio 1 = left side, Audio 2 = right side). Audio 2 is controlled by stereo object "Track 1-2," which is set in Audio 1 (where I originally recorded the external sound).
    But...
My problem is I'm not hearing any sound on the right side, or at all when I copy and paste the recorded region from Audio 1 to Audio 2. I don't know what I'm doing wrong or if I have to set the parameters so that Audio 2 actually plays the right side of my "Track 1-2" stereo set-up from Audio 1.
    Thanks for any help!

1: if something is stereo record it as stereo and if mono record as mono
2: recording mono and changing it to stereo won't make sense because its the same channel on two sides it'll still sound mono
3: recording stereo then switching the channel to mono is not a good idea because if the the both sides are phase then it'll sound weird because you'll only get the both soft sides in the centre or both loud sides in the centre
I'll rather use direct mixer plug-in for this type of job or I'll force split the stereo file then put them on two separate tracks then centre the pan on both tracks
my English is not that good but i hope you got what i mean
or get a cable which is 1 stereo 6.5 jack to two RCA left and right or two Mono 6.5 Jacks left and right
this way headphone out from the external gear to two channels (unbalanced) in your interface to logic
then select which input they are then hit record
doing this way will make sure anything you hear in headphone is what ever you'll record

  • Lipsync problems with seperate audio track

I use a seperate audiotrack from an external microphone (speech) with a video.
If I export the movie as a mov file on the iMac it is perfectly lipsync (like in the previewscreen of iMovie).
If I play the mov on a windowsmachine, it isn't lipsync. The are no special effects like slowmo in the vid. What's wrong?
How can I export the file in a way that audio and video are running the same speed on iMac and Windows?

    Temporary SOLUTION!!!
Mac know about the problem with iDVD6 and are working on it!
iDvd 6 doesn't understand volume changes / audio clip changes (cuts) in the second/ bottom audio track..... This is causing major hassles for dialogue drops in backing audio with iMovies putting forward a perfect film that iDVD6 can't follow!!
In the meantime an Apple support guy called Ben Donelly ( God Bless Him!!)
    Has found us a lifeline!!!
This is the temporarfy work around.... and you must watch the clock time wise in iMovie and garage band ( which you're going to use!) so that you can change the up's & down s in volume in time with footage.
Firstly import your audio files to GARAGEBAND (the guitar symbol!!)
click the disclosure triangle for the track.
( i did this by exporting from iTunes!)
Change the track volume by selecting master then deal with it as you would in iMovie.
When you've done all your changes ( Cuts can be done too!) at the time points you have in iMovie export the whole track to iTunes by choosing share.
In I movie select the new song you have titled in the media section of iTunes!
    My faith is Restored!!!
    Thank you Ben Donelly!!

  • How to distinguish between two audio tracks on AppleTV?

Ripped movies with two audio tracks (AAC, 2-ch and AC3, 5.1) show both of the audio tracks as "English" on AppleTV. How do I know which one is the 2-ch or 5.1? Is there a way for Apple TV to show "English (Stereo)" and "English (Surround)"? I use Handbrake to rip DVDs, sometimes MP4Tools to convert audio, and Subler to tag them.

It is definitely possible to maintain separate sets of settings for two or more
publish connections of the same publish plug-in.
Without more detail on what exactly your code looks like, it is difficult to say what's not working right.
The contents of 'exportPresetFields' should be maintained on a per-connection basis.

  • Cutting two audio tracks in synchrony with video, question

I had to chop my movie in two because it did not fit on one DVD. This forum suggested that you make a complete second copy and delete the second half of one, and the first half of the other copy and burn your DVD with the respective halves. No problem with the first half, I deleted the video and had to go back and individually delete the audio tracks and everything stayed in synchrony. The problem arises when trying to delete the first half of the movie and not being able to use the play head to delete audio and video simultaneously. The audio of the first half of the movie is preserved, and if I delete the audio one track at a time it will shift the audio in relation to the video. I thought there would be a way of chopping off the video and audio tracks at the same point without the tedious task of trying to put everything back in sync "by hand". I have two audio tracks so it might be tricky to cut at the end of one audio track, without getting the other out of sync. Thanks for suggestions.
    Mike

    Hi Mike:
Perhaps the easiest way is to export the entire movie back to DV tape and then re-importing to imovie. That way, the entire movie is now combined into a "flattened" version. Meaning the audio and video are combined together into one video track, making it possible to split the final version in two.
Pain in the neck, but much easier that doing it one clip at a time.

  • Problem with xvid videos with two audio streams

    / Hi,
recently I purchased a Creative Zen X-FI2, it is working perfectly, but I only have one problem, I have some videos xvid with two audio streams (mpga), on VLC I can select either of the two audio streams but I haven't found if I can select the audio stream on the Zen player.
Does anyone knows how to select among different audio streams on a video?

The X-Fi2 doesn't have such an option.
If you still want to be able to watch the video with the second audio stream, I think the only possibility is to re-encode it using the second audiostream (or disable the first).

  • Seperating audio files with two simultaneous tracks

    hi,
we did some after recording, whereby we recorded a fresh dialogue track over the top of the original movie file, so we now have avi files with video and TWO audio tracks playing at the same time...
How do I go about separating the audio in Premiere CS2?
    Thanks heaps in advance!
    Leo

    hi again,
thanks for those quick replies John and Bill (yes i was wanting to take one of the audio tracks and kind of double-it-up, so that the re-recorded layer replaces the original layer and becomes stereo)...
I actually just found out how to do it... using your helpful "fill left" hints...
for anyone else who is looking to easily use just one audio file...:
just go to the sound effects panel and under the 'stereo' tab there's an option called 'fill left' and 'fill right'...
    just like you mentioned!
    thanks again so much!

  • Two audio tracks with same label

I have two audio tracks labeled Audio3.  Is this something normal or an anomoly?  Can I correct this?  Thank you for you help.

    Vinay,
This is weird, but I don't know if it related to the Audio label issue.  There seems to be no rhyme or reason to where the which audio track is used when I place an item into a video track.  In this project I am using .mts files for my video and the audio has been going into Audio 2, except for the one marked in the image below, which is in Audio 3.  When I tried to move it to Audio 2, it slipped up to Audio 1.  This is throwing me off, because I have background music in Audio 3 and want a different audio level.

  • Newbie Question - Creating DVD from Premiere to Encore with 2 audio tracks

Hello and thanks for your time,
I'm pretty new to all this but seem to be getting the hang of things pretty well but one problem I'm having I can't seem to find an answer to.
In Premiere I am creating a dvd of a football game, i have the video with an audio track of the crowd and another audio track of the commentary.  These are all edited together fine and work well.  I then use the dynamic link to send the sequence to Encore and that's where the problem occurs.
I can't seem to get both audio tracks to appear in Encore?  Any suggetions or tips on where I might find an answer?
cheers for the help and time
    Ian

    Ian,
This is not a cure to the issue, but is a workaround. It's the "old-fashioned" way that things were done before DL.
Export your Sequence as elemental streams, i.e. video-only and audio-only. Import your video-only file into Encore as a Timeline, and teh audio-only file as an Asset. From Project Panel, drag the audio to the appropriate timeline. Done.
Now, exactly what you choose for your Export and even how you do this will depend on your Project in PrPro and also your source Assets. For SD material, I'd choose DV-AVI Type II video-only (no multiplexing), and for the Audio 48KHz 16-bit PCM/WAV. If you have a version of PrPro prior to CS4, just Export Movie (settings above) for the Video and Export>Movie (or AME) for the Audio (settings above). Just make sure that the Export Video is checked for the DV-AVI, but the Export Audio is not. Change these two checkboxes for the Audio.
Now, for DL not working, as it should, what is the format of your source Audio? Do you have any Channel-mapping used? Does your Audio Mixer Panel show everything right there? Do you have one Audio Track either Muted, or Bypassed. Look in Audio Mixer, to make sure you do not have one Track Solo'ed.
Also, what version are you using, CS3, or CS4? Note: for CS4, you will use AME for the Exporting in the first part of the post.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Two audio tracks

I used imovie to create hd project. Looks great played through a blue ray player and regular dvd player. Looks great on 720p and 1080p televisions.
The issue is now with sound and two audio tracks. When played through built-in television speakers, the sound is balanced between two tracks (voice over vs. music.) When played through external, amplified speakers, the voice-over is too pronounced. I need to bump up the music.
Question: I can solve the problem by creating two versions, one for built-in speakers and one for amplified speakers. But I'm asking myself, what do I need to do to create a DVD whose sound will be the same on both types of audio systems?

    2.5,
They sound great even after being burned in idvd, as long as the dvd is played on either a monitor with built-in speakers or on a television with built-ins.
The unbalance happens only when the dvd is played back through amplified speakers, and that's when the music suddenly takes a back seat to the voice over.
Other than an equalizer setting difference between the different playback systems, it's hard to explain why there should be a difference.
iDVD supports only uncompressed PCM audio and although the DV specification and DVD specification support more than 2 channels of audio, I have NEVER seem any indication that iDVD supports more than 2 channels of audio. Apple has never said much about audio in iDVD. (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD-Audio and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DV )
DVD SP with Compressor DOES give you many audio choices (uncompressed PCM and compressed Dolby) as well as support for multiple audio channels.

  • Beginner question: Two audio tracks become one - how to undo?

I know this surely is a beginners' problem, i hope for a quick reply anyway. I've imported material I had before logged with AVID Liquid, into Premiere CS4. In order to get video and audio together I had to put video and audio in a new sequence by hand. I then loaded this seqeunce into the source monitor to be able to cut my material (one video track, two audio tracks (one from a directional mic, which I don't always want))  from there. But when I paste a clip in my editing sequence I only get video plus ONE audio track in the stereo track. But I need both audio tracks because sometimes I'm going to delete one of them. So my question: How do I get video and BOTH audio tracks from one sequence to the other?
Thank you very much, you've had much patience with me with similiar questions.
    Niklas

To do what you want, you won't be able to work with the media as a single clip.  You'd have to go into the sequence with the video and two audio tracks, and pick out what you want from there instead of the Source monitor.  Make your cuts, laso the clips you're using, then do a Cut/Paste from the main sequence into the edit sequence.  Make sense?
