Problem with two email accounts

I have two email accounts on my iPad. When I send an email at home using my business account, the sender defaults to my home gmail account and people respond to this email address. How can I make sure responses go to the business email address?

Open Setting > Mail, Contacts, Calenders > And Tap On Default Account.

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
    Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

    In your email settings on the phone check to make sure it is set to receive emails on cellular network.  It's a feature you can turn off so your phone isn't constantly updating emails on the cell network, but if you are usually in a place with wifi and aren't concerned about going over your data allowance, you can turn it back on. 

  • Dealing with two email accounts that use the same SMTP (outgoing) server

    Folks:
    re:   mail.app  5.2 (MacOS 10.7.4) with respect to POP accounts only
    I've read this thread multiple times, spent many hours experimenting, and my web searches haven't come up with any more useful help.
    How do you persuade mail.app to accept settings for two similar, but distinct email accounts that use the same SMTP (outgoing) server?   Say, the accounts are "blue.example.com" and "[email protected]". These have different user names and passwords.   The SMTP server is "smtp.example.com". 
    I think this is the appearance of success: the SMTP Server List (as seen in edit-the SMTP-Server-List mode) shows:
    Server Name                   In Use By Account
        smtp.example.com      [email protected], [email protected]
    (Description column omitted for brevity.  And of course, mail.app doesn't show the little envelope icons.)
    But I cannot reliably achieve this result.   When I select the SMTP server from the list for the second account --as suggested in the above-referenced thread--- I see the credentials (user name and password) for the first.  Should I overwrite them?  No, I don't think so -- I think that will break the first account.   I feel mail.app should present me with empty credentials boxes instead.  Maybe this happens -- sometimes.  But I can't see how to make it happen.  Am I simply overlooking something?
    A slightly different way of asking about this issue:   Suppose  I manage to do a proper setup for the two accounts and they work.  Then I change the password for "[email protected]" on the server. What is a reliable way of reaching the SMTP credentials for that account to make the edit?  Same question for "[email protected]"?    Even when I successfully attach two accounts to one SMTP server, I seem only able to reach the first listed one to make changes. (In this case, "blue.example.com").
    It is possible I'm missing something incredibly obvious...    I know the credentials for each account are distinct, but maybe mail.app copies them from the POP (incoming) settings.   Nah, that can't be, can it?   Or what?
    Maybe I'm seeing bizarre things due to scrambled mail.app preferences.  I've seen it before on other apps: delete the current preference file, get an auto-generated fresh one, and sanity returns. But with mail.app, with the prospect of losing years of emails --yeah, I've done it--  I'm extremely reluctant to mess around.
    Suggestions, please.

    OK, I'm convinced.   The mail.app UI is BROKEN -- in my primary user account.  Such that it cannot reliably select an outgoing server for editing.
    I created a new user account and installed some relevant example accounts in mail.app in that account.  No problem. Well, a bit obscure, but still fully logical and reliable selection of individual SMTP accounts for editing.
    For the sake of clarity, I think it is best to mark this "answered" and repost, focusing on the symptoms and asking how one might go about repairing the problem.  So I'll do that.

  • Will I have problems with two iTunes Accounts?

    When I first bought my Mac, I didn’t have MobileMe, and therefore I used my Comcast email address in order to set up my iTunes account. I purchased several Apps, music, and iBooks under my Comcast account, however, since purchasing MobileMe, I have kept myself signed into iTunes under my MobileMe Account, and have made all purchases using my Mobileme iTunes account. Unfortunately, I know this means that I have two iTunes accounts.
    For mail, I solely use MobileMe, and any email I get from Comcast, is forwarded to my MobileMe Account. When I get “App Updates” available on my iOS devices (iPhone 4S and iPad2), the “pop up” (which requires I enter my password to allow the download to begin) will be associated with either my Comcast email address, or my MobileMe address (depending upon which account I purchased the App, Music, or Book under). I do use only one single computer for backing up however.
    While this hasn’t created any problems using an iTunes hard or wireless sync, I didn’t know if I will have any difficulties once migrating over to iCloud. I’m hopeful that everything works as it has. I don’t have a family account, all purchases under the Comcast and MobileMe addresses currently live locally on my iMac that I use for syncing.
    Just wanted to check with you all before I migrate to iCloud, as I didn’t want to lose any of my Apps, Music or Books, nor do I want to have difficulties with App updates (e.g. problems migrating purchases to iCloud that were originally bought under my Comcast Account, or problems updating Apps when updates are available that were originally purchased under my Comcast Account).

    PS: I recently updates to iOS 5, and 10.7.2!

    My personal experience has been no issues with either browser, including using a secure webmail account access.  If others have reported issues, I really can't comment since I haven't had any.  I have used my systems extensively in Paris and Zurich, especially at the technical university in Zurich and been satisfied with my access.
    Of course, if you have more than one browser installed you can easily switch between them if problems do arise...a lot to be said for options

  • Problem with my email account after attempting to email photos with iphoto

    I'm not sure if I'm posting this question in the correct place...please forgive me if not and if you know where I should post it please tell me.
    I'm new to using a mac computer. I just bought my first one last week. I loaded some pics yesterday and attempted to email some to a friend...thought I knew how to do this without reading directions. ...well, after a few tries I locked up my computer momentarily and closed out my many attempts to send the few attempts of open emails I was trying to send through iphoto with a pic. iphoto is now fine and I now know how to send the photos through it using email...my problem now is that when I merely click on mail ... it shows the computer is receiving several messages but fails to put them in my inbox. I tried deleting the mailbox and adding it again. Didn't help. I tried rebooting and also shutting down the computer al the way. Didn't work. I am very computer illiterate (as if that wasn't obvious)...if you can help me, please be overly descriptive of what I need to do.
    It appears that the email is "hung up" somehow...like stuck in iphoto mode for lack of a better way to describe this.
    Please help me if you can.

  • Problem with 1and1 email account

    Hello,
    I just got an iphone and am trying to set up my 1and1 email account.
    It seems like it works, but only 4 out of hundreds of messages actually show up on my phone. And they are from different people, at different times - nothing special about the 4 messages.
    I have the incoming host as:
    imap.1and1.com
    outgoing as smtp.1and1.com
    I have tried the port as 143, which was the default, and as 587, which I saw on some help thing online. Whenever I use 587, however, it switches back to 143.
    I know I can set up a gmail account and send it through this account, but I'd really rather just have it sync with my outlook.
    Can anyone help?

    I realized what these 4 messages have in common: They were all received when my computer (and Outlook) was turned off! Those messages are on the iPhone but not my Outlook. I cannot find a solution to this - my email is IMAP, which I think shouldn't have this problem? I can only find solutions on Apple Support for POP issues in which the emails go only to one or the other device.
    Any thoughts?

  • Problem with deleting email account on N96

    I have got 3 email accounts on my N96. I wanted to delete the oldest one, that is a POP3, but it will not get delete. I go through menu/messaging/options/emails and mark the one I want to delete and than I wait a little and nothing happens - the email account stays. I've tried with the other 2 accounts and it works fine - they get delete.
    Can anybody help me on this problem. How can I delete this email account, that won't get delete by the standard way.

    Try again without using WLAN. I had same problem, but solved it using GPRS.

  • HT1420 I have two email accounts associated with one iTunes account

    I have two email accounts associated with one iTunes account with two passwords,  I guess it happened when i changed my internet service provider. 

    Could be, but i do have an old email account, whis is not used, changed carrriers.  I have noticed that some songs have a cloud with a line through it.  I try to play it and a dialog box from Itunes pops up: "THIS COMPUTER IS NOT AUTHORIZED TO PLAY "THE THINGS WE DO FOR LOVE(SOUND TRACK VERSION, would you like to authorize it?  THe apple ID haxe my old  email address " and an empty block asking for my password.  Well all i know is when you start trying to authorze with an old ID or something of that nature, the account is block and you need to do a new setup again.  And who knows what other problems that will cause,
    I just want the songs (i think there are several songs) assosiated with this old account to move to my new account.
    Any ideas?

    Background: I recently (December) bought an ipad and set up icloud for contacts and calendar, but NOT mail. My email provider is Verizon. I use computer, iphone, and ipad to check my email; eventually I download it from the server using Outlook on the computer and then delete any remaining emails from the phone and ipad. I can't find info on this problem anywhere.

    It sounds like your iPad all of a sudden seems to be restarting out of no where. If you haven't called AppleCare yet, I would start with quitting either the app that seems to be causing the issue, or all the apps if a single doesn't seem to be the culprit. 
    iOS: Force an app to close
    Double-click the Home button.
    Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
    Swipe the app up to close it.
    When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
    iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    If the issue persists, backup your device to iTunes, then restore it as new and verify that it works. 
    How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
    If it does, then restore your backup to either verify it still works and the software just needed reinstalled, or isolate the issue to the backup file itself.

    Well, seems I managed to unscrew this...I deleted my iCloud mail account and reinstalled it on my phone. That got rid of the duplicate .me/.mac email accounts.

    Until and unless you remember the password to your old email address, you will not be able to access the eBooks as those eBooks are only authorized with your old email address only.
    The only workaround or alternative to access your eBooks will be to contact the eBook vendor and ask them to migrate the eBook from your old email to the new one.
