Problem with updating the PC Updater software
Good evening (from Germany). I have a problem with updating my Nokia Software Updater. I can download the setup and I can execute this. But when the installation starts (0%) a error message appears. It's a problem with Windows Installer but I don't know how to solve the problem. Here is a picture with the exactly error message:

Problems with Friday the 13th update.
First of all, it's rather an odd date for Verizon to update the Thunderbolt firmware, don't you think?
Secondly, I have had nothing but bugs since I did the update and am a bit perturbed by the fact that Verizon has released this. It appears to me they released it only for their benefit and not the users. They now added a message when tethering the computer to a laptop saying basically you're an idiot if you think you are going to get this free. They also added that to the hotspot feature.
As far as fixes, from their summary, they said they fixed something about the weather widget, well mine doesn't update correctly now when it should and it did before the update. I have to remove the widget then add it to get the weather to update for my current location. They broke it, not fixed it.
Internet connection mode: worked great before. Now it not only give's me their nag message about having to pay when the promotion is done but the phone internet goes down when I've disconnected the USB cable and won't come back up until I cycle the power on the phone. Hey, it use to work flawlessly and now it's buggy.
So my conclusion is a) the only reason for this latest up date is about Verizon and not about the customer. b) Verizon has no regard for their customers and rather release a shoddy firmware update that has more problems then the original only to update their revenue base.4G LTE network still flaky as french pastry. The browser now randomly reporting network failures and then crashes. The UI is not as smooth as before and the battery life is still the same.
So what the hell exactly was this update supposed to fix besides the weather widget and a bunch of the Verizon bloatware apps that I don't want anyway? If this phone is going to turn into the horror show I had with the Blackberry Storm 2 it replaced, then I am going to have a real problem. I wonder if Google knows how badly their name is getting dragged through the manure by VZW? -

After hours of back-up, downloading and uploading...I am now updated with all the latest Mac software. However, I no longer have access to Excel and Word. Is there a way I can access my documents in either of those? Help, please.
If you have older versions of excel and word that previously ran under the Rosetta emulator (allows PowerPC code to run on Intel system), they will no longer work with Lion.
You can use the Apple programs Pages and Numbers to access the files. They can be bought and downloaded from the App store. NeoOffice is available at http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/en/index.php which has Lion support. OpenOffice doesn't talk to Lion support, it's at http://www.openoffice.org/ -

Plenty of sites list and summarize individual patches, I want one that consolidates problems and complaints so I can better assess the risk. Currently I'm waiting to install patches several days and doing google searches. That works, but I'd rather find a place
that does it with expertise.
Which forums would be best to look for such problems.

Its posible that it can be caused by a bad, slow or instable internet connection.

I am helping a friend having problems updating the system in her iPhone 4.
She has verizon service for the phone. She owns an iMac G5 running 10.4.11.
When she plugs her iphone 4 into her iMac G5 she can't get past an error saying
tht her computer system software is to old to update the iPhone 4.
I am sure there are many people using new iphones with older computers,system.
There should be some way to update her iPhone 4 to iOS 4.3.4 Software Update
with her iMac G5. If not, what about doing it with my up to date Intel Mac Pro?

W.W.Basically, this is correct. If she has a Mac running 10.4.11, then she is unable to download iTunes 7, which is what you need to be able to update to the latest software - iOS6.0.1 or use an iPhone 5.
To be able to update your Mac to iTunes 7, you need to have Snow Leopard or above installed, Snow Leopard being 10.6 and you also need an Intel Mac to be able to instal Snow Leopard. Apple are sending people free upgrade DVD's of Snow Leopard so that you can upgrade if applicable and then from there and once you have upgraded you can get the Mac App Store where you can then download Lion and Mountain Lion. All upgrades are then CD free.
There is no point in her upgrading from your Mac, because it won't then sync with any of her own things that she has.
Either she will have to leave her phone the way it is or wait until she is ready to purchase a new and more up to date Mac and then go from there.
Mac OS 10.4 is old now in computer terms, so it does pay to keep your system and computers reasonably up to date as and when you can afford it, but especially the OS. -

When i connect my iPhone to iTunes, it says i have to set up my iPhone, and wont allow me to sync any media i have already purchased on it. My phone is not new, so I dont understand? This has nothing to do with the Find my iPhone app being installed on the phone, but you do have to have Find my iPhone activated in the iCloud settings on the phone. -
