Problem with VFD on Media Live
Hi.
I'm having strange problems with VFD on my MSI Media Live. I'm using Vista Ultimate Media Center on it.
The problem is that when the computer starts the VFD shows everything correctly like tv channel number or music tittles etc, but when I turn the system to sleep and then wake it from sleep the VFD shows sleeping scrolling and nothing else. Nothing helps, powering off, turing off and on Vista Media Center... It shows always the same thing scrolling: sleeping You can watch tv, listen to music but the VFD always shows sleeping.
I'm using the latest drivers for chipset, graphics and for the VFD. If I install the previous driver for VFD ver 2.4 it still shows sometimes sleeping but turning off and on Vista Media Center resolves the problem but not with the newest 2.7 VFD driver version.
Can anyone confirm this issue ?
I'll be thankfull for any sugestion how to resolve the problem.

But now I have worse video quality on my LCD TV
I too switched to VGA output to my LCD TV, but I cannot see any noticable difference in quality. In fact, it is better, as the picture fits exact on the screen, whereas when connected via HDMI, I had to make corrections for overscan, and when switching between desktop and Media Center, there was an irritating pause as the picture flickered on and off.
But I too have noticed that my VFD behaves perfectly now, where it would sometimes do as you described earlier.
Either way, I'm happy with how its working at present, and am not going to start messing again!

Can someone help us?
Thank you

Did you ever get this to work? I have been using, with a qualified degree of success, taking the HDMI output from a Canon Vixia HV30, to an AverMedia Game Boradcaster C127 to FMLE.
The qualification is: When the card is installed on an ITX board (GigaByte Z-77), in the single PCI-e slot, yes. In fact, I'm using it weekly now on my show.
Now, if I put the same card on an Asus Z77 Maxiumus Gene board, with or without an installed video card (GTX 660), and regardless of the positioning of the C127 in the first long PCI-e slot and the GTX 660 in the next one over, or pin the PCI-4 slot, I get "No Signal AverMedia" on the screen. Then I put it back on the ITX board (I5-2300 on there and 8GB RAM, using HDMI or DVI vidoe for the local monitor), the card then works properly.
I made sure I had the DirectShow codecs installed...and it didn't work on the larger board (plan was to be able to handle two capture cards like this in one "box" and still have a GPU in the main slot to help processing.
Any feedback appreciated. -
I'm looking for a capture device that is compatible with Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder. I bought elgato but it is not compatible. Anyone know?
This is just a shot in the dark....
Do you have all your devices hooked up (and on) when you launch FMLE? For example -- your camera or digitizer? When FMLE launches it will try to launch with the last known settings... including input devices. If it can't find these devices (they're not hooked up and on) it can crash, although in most situations it will simply show a default screen with default settings.
If you do have your equipment hooked up (and on) when you launch FMLE, try unplugging them and then launching FMLE so that it opens up in default configuration mode (no input devices selected; all default settings). Then uncheck the "preview" boxes for both your input and output preview windows. Close FMLE and then plug in your equipment (and turn it on) and relaunch FMLE. I offer this suggestion as FMLE can sometimes act funny when the preview windows are open with certain types of input devices. Don't worry -- you don't have to keep the preview windows off forever. If you can get FMLE to successfully launch with the preview windows off, then you can set your settings however you like and save the profile. Then quit and relaunch FMLE and then turn the preview windows back on and see if it works. If it does, great. Just be aware that making any settings changes while the preview windows are open could result in FMLE crashing. Again -- this only happens with some capture devices, such as certain Dazzle capture boxes.
If none of this works, you could always try to upgrade to FMLE 3.2 and see if that solves your problem. -
Can a Panasonic HD Camera be used with Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3.2
Can a Panasonic HD Camera be used with Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3.2 instead of my Laptop webcam.
yes it can but you need an in/out device to "link" the HDMI output from your HD camera to your computer via, USB or firewire
BlacMagic sell those, Matrox and AJA are some of the other brands on the market. -
Problems with fluid grid layout live site only showing phone view in Chrome and Firefox Feb 2015
Hi all,
I have done a complex fluid grid layout using DW 2014 CC. The site has now gone live on the web masters server setup.
Up until now the layout of the site has been working fine and responding to screen size.
Early this morning in the USA the site stopped working. The layout for some users, not all, is only showing the phone view, and takes a long time to load.
This is happening in Chrome and Firefox, but IE is displaying the site properly.
So it looks like the CSS media queries are not working on all browsers.
I am using BC for the test site, and one user having this problem can see that version of the site OK.
I noticed that Chrome has done some updates recently Chrome Releases
Has anyone else come across this problem with Chrome and Firefox with their responsive layouts?
Thanks for any help given.Hi Ben,
Yes, thanks for this link. The Travel Health Website is one of ours, hosted on BC, and no reported problems so far. We also have another large BC website with ga code in it and users are not reporting problems with it. The Headless Way
However the problem website is hosted elsewhere on a different platform to BC. We have been developing it for three months now, and no problems so far until yesterday. The problem of the site taking ages to load, and timing out seems to be happening with about 10% of users in the USA. http://www.harrisonassessments.com/
The web developer found a user in NZ who was experiencing the slow display problem. They looked at the site with Chrome, Firefox and IE. The site would only display on IE. When the developer removed the google analytics code, the site displayed fine on all browsers for the NZ user. We are waiting for users in the USA to wake up and test the site.
So the problem definitely is related to the ga code and the responsive layout that was done by me in DW2014.1 fluid grid layout. So the related problem of DW2014.1 not being able to load htm files with ga code in them looks to be a good clue to what is going on here.
As there was a bug report for DW2014.1 and google analytics code made in the other thread, I would be interested to know if that was ever solved.
It is interesting that you are pushing Bootstrap and Foundation on me. (Big square websites here I come! lol)
I wonder if DW is going to persist with fluid grid layout then? I certainly hope so, as I have spent 12 months blood sweat and tears learning how to do it in DW. -
Problems with PSE 8 & Windows Live Photo Gallery
I recently had to purchase a new laptop and it came preloaded with Windows 7. I installed PSE8 and have had no problems with photos I scanned, etc. But Windows 7 defaults import photos from my camera to Windows Live Photo Gallery. My problem is now I can't get PSE8 to import from the clipboard. It is grayed out and I can't click it. How dop I get my photos into PSE8 and then get the two programs to play right together?
Open Organizer and click File à Get Photos & Videos à From Files & Folders
Navigate to the folder used by Windows and press Ctrl+A to select all and hit open or get media.

Hdmi sound problems with m9150f in media center
I am running a pavilion m9150f Q6600 vista 32 bit and GeForce 8500 gt graphics on a sony wega 55" lcd projection tv. Recently I have been having problems with media center sound. Recorded programs from standard channels (2-64) seem fine but hd channels (1341, for example) produce an error message stating "Unsupported Audio Signal. Please check device output." Which kills all sound from Pc. After shuffling through various output options, often returning to the original settings, and occasionally reinstalling devices or drivers, the problem is fixed. Then, seemingly at random, POOF!, error occurs again.I am at my wits end and am ready to throw my PC out in the street and hit it with a bus! Please help prevent its untimely demise.
Thank you.Hi again
I have downloaded the Realtek sound driver from the Tosh page and unzipped it.
(I have chosen the driver for Vista!!! I suppose you use Vista???)
There is a folder called sound. Access this folder and run Setup.exe
But before you will start this procedure you could access the device manager (control panel -> computer -> device manager) and choose sound, video, and game controller. There you have to mark realtek AC and click on uninstall and reboot the unit.
After this sound driver removing you should start the new driver installation described above. (setup.exe) -
Player compatibility problem with dual layer media
I've created a dual layer DVD and there is a problem with compatibility from player to player.
It plays fine in one of my DVD players but will not load in the other.
The duplicators tested my master on 2 players and it loaded on both, but would lock up if a chapter was selected from the submenu.
It has 4 tracks of content. 3 menus, and a bunch of chapter markers. The original build had stories (replaced with standard chapter markers) but I removed them hoping it would solve the problem.
The imported video tracks were created with Compressor. MPEG-2 2 pass VBR max bit rate 7.5. AC3 audio tracks. 7.7 GB on disc.
I'm already way over my deadline and ahve no idea what to do next other than maybe recompress so the disc is not so close to being maxed out.Thats just how compatible that media is... +R DL (double layer) & -R DL are not that compatible. Recordable media is less compatible that replicated discs but double and dual layer media can be 50% compatible at best (depending on your target market...)
Good quality media, Verbatim +R DL for example burnt at slow speeds helps improve things,

Problems with black fills in live trace(d) eps images in Word and certain printers
Hi folks, PLEASE help me with this if you know a possible solution. I regularly run Live Trace in Illustrator CS3 on my grayscale bmp or tiff scanned images, save them as an eps, then folks in other departments insert them into Microsoft Word pages. Sometimes these images display in Word with unintended black fills, and some printers print them out with the same corrupted appearance, yet some other printers print them fine (even if the display in Word shows them with the unintended black fills). I THINK this might be a postscript issue (?). I don't have the option of telling everyone to change from Word to InDesign (which would absolutely solve the problem immediately). Is there something I can set while performing Live Trace? They really need the eps files, so I don't have the option of saving them as another format. HELP! Thanks...
I use Mac at home and love it. At work, we use PC platform. I can't save as a pdf because they need to stay vector graphics. he departments want us to save the eps in version 8 because they're STILL using Windows 2003 (ugh). I keep thinking there must be something I can do while in Live Trace because we've never noticed any inintended black fills in graphics not created using Live Trace. Somehow, Word and some printers are not interpreting some postscript language correctly. InDesign has zero issues with it. Some printers have no problem with it, so I assume they are postscript printers. There's got to be a way I can still save as an eps but without the postscript conflict (IF that's what it is).

Hilights Clipping Problem with Premiere CS3 Media Encoder
I've just discovered a pretty serious problem with the way Premiere CS3 processes video to the Media Encoder.
Many of you are familiar with the term "super whites", the ability of modern cameras to capture and record levels above 100 IRE. With HDV and newer technology, recording to 109 IRE is quite common.
I was aware for some time that importing this footage into Premiere results in a hard truncation of whites above 100 IRE. However, I discovered last month that the Fast Color Corrector has a Output Levels adjustment that can rescale all the levels to fit down in the 0-100 IRE range. I verified this using the scopes in Premiere and by observing recovered details in my footage. I was even able to export frames to TIFF files and show the recovered highlights in the exported TIFFs. The difference is substantial and not subtle--it's the difference between a sky completely blown to white and one where you can see the sky is blue with clouds in it.
Last night, I discovered that the Unsharp Mask filter doesn't handle footage above 100 IRE, either. Even if I use Levels to set 0-235 RGB range, somehow, Unsharp Mask is processing the un-level-adjusted signal, regardless of stacking order of the filters.
I rendered two Blu-ray discs, one with Unsharp and the other without. To my astonishment, BOTH discs lacked any detail in the highlights--the whites were clipped at 100 IRE!
Now I turned attention to the Media Encoder. Pausing on a frame where I can see the difference between 100 IRE and 109 IRE and shades in between, I fire up the Media Encoder and note that even in ME's previews screens, the whites are already clipped. There is more highlight detail in the program monitor, whereas it's all gone in the Media Encoder's display.
It is obvious that highlight information, even scaled back to 0-235, is being treated as if it were 0-255 and clipped at 235 before passing to the encoder. This is a real disappointment, because there is another half f-stop of detail up there that I was trying to pull into the useable range of 100 IRE for the Blu-ray disc. Since it is very difficult to shoot footage and limit the peak whites in-camera to no more than 100 IRE, nearly all of us are losing valuable picture information.
Even if you can recover the highlights on the timeline through a Levels filter, it gets thrown away again on the way to the Media Encoder. Short of exporting a few hundred thousand frames as .TGA files and then loading those back in and rendering out to whatever motion CODEC, I am at a loss as to how to get Premiere to leave the whites intact.
I haven't seen this issue discussed in any detail here. Has anyone found a way around it, besides reshooting all your footage of one-time events to sub 100 IRE levels?I'd rather the camera added that extra lattitide within the appropriate 0 to 100 IRE range.
That's a lot like saying you want 10 gallons of water in an 9-gallon jug.
As it is, it looks like such adjustments will need to be done on a clip by clip basis.
Or, you can do it the "Dan" way in AviSynth. I wrote a script function called SoftLimiter: It applies photoshop-style curves on the Y + U + V channels to bring the maximums within legal range… using a sort-of "soft-knee" approach to reducing extreme highlights and/or oversaturated areas.
It causes a tiny bit of posterization in the highlights, just like all 8-bit per channel color adjustments do… but it is hardly noticeable on a computer screen and even less on TVs.
SoftLimiter for AviSynth 2.5
Create a folder C:\SoftLimiterCurves\ and place the .amp curves files in that folder.
Place the other files in your AviSynth 2.5 / plugins folder.
The example below assumes DV avi files and requires a DV codec (such as Cecocida DV, MainConcept, Canopus) that can read / write in YUV formats.
Create a script like this:
AviSource("dv.avi", pixel_type="YUY2")
SoftLimiter()
Open the script in VirtualDub, use Video / Fast Recompress, Select Cedocida DV codec. File / Save as .avi
Before:
After:
And, Jim… you can place your dv2film() command at the end of this script if that's what you're trying to accomplish. -

Strange Problem with Toshiba Express Media Player on Satellite M115-S3094
I'm experiencing a strange problem in my Toshiba M115-S3094, which was pre-installed with Windows XP Media Center edition and which also had the Toshiba Express Media Player.
I had previously done a clean Vista installation on it, and then I decided to revert back to XP with my recovery DVD. I did the same procedures of first installing Express Media Player from Backup (which I made when i purchased the laptop) and then installing XP from Windows XP recovery DVD from Toshiba.
The steps included:
1- Deleted partitions from Express media player recovery disk
2- Installed express media player
3- Recovered Xp from Recovery DVD, by selecting "Recover without changing Partitions" (there is no expert mode)
Everything went very well (i.e. the installation)......But now after shutting down my laptop as I press the Express Media Center button, the "Express Media Player" logo appears on the screen after loading for 5 seconds laptop shutdowns,
I tried to open it again and again but the logo appears for 5 seconds and then my laptop shutdown....
Laptop works fine when I logon to windows by pressing power button.
Can anyone help on this strange issue..?Hi Jaba
Thnx for reply.
Now i would answer the questions asked by you and try to clear you confusion,
Yes, Express Media Player was previously installed on my machine, and I have used it, it was perfectly working.
About installation of Media Player, The whole story is that, firstly i wasnt known about how to make a Toshiba express media player recovery cd through windows, so downloaded an ISO of the media player from a forum and install media player by first deleting partitions.
After that I can again installed xp through recovery dvd and choose the option "out of box" state and then selected "install without changing partitions"
After a successfull recovery, I shutdown my pc and pressed the media player button, the media player logo appeared for 5 seconds and then my laptop shutsdown, this is happening all the time when i start my laptop by the Express media player button.
After this I read somewhere how to create a backup recovery cd for Express media player, So i run the recovery disk creater and made a backup of Toshiba Express media player.
After doing the above procedure I again formated my hard drive through recovery dvd and selecting the option "Delete partitions and overwrite sectors". When this was finished, i booted my laptop with the newly made recovery cd for express player, after selecting English as my language, This it what said:
"Installation Error" An error occured due to wrong system ID or unsufficient space on hard drive, press escape to quit.
THE ABOVE IS THE WHOLE PROCESS IN COMPLETE DETAIL.
AND JAMA,
About the link you provided, it says that on the Recovery dvd select the option for "Expert Mode", but in my recovery dvd (for Toshiba M115- S3094) there is no such option as expert mode, there are only two options
1- Restore laptop to "out of box" state
2- Format Hard Drive -
Tue May 14 2013 16:13:28 : Video Encoding Started
Tue May 14 2013 16:13:28 : Audio Encoding Started
Tue May 14 2013 16:13:31 : Audio Encoding Stopped
Tue May 14 2013 16:13:31 : Video Encoding Stopped
Tue May 14 2013 16:13:31 : Session Stopped
Tue May 14 2013 16:13:33 : Primary - Network Command: onFCUnpublish
Tue May 14 2013 16:13:33 : Primary - Stream[mp4:livestream1] Status: NetStream.Unpublish.Success
Tue May 14 2013 16:13:33 : Primary - Network Command: onFCUnpublish
Tue May 14 2013 16:13:33 : Primary - Stream[mp4:livestream2] Status: NetStream.Unpublish.Success
