I m gettin this weird problem.. .
like when i play music videos in my 60gb video ipod it plays fine bt when i play a movie or some tv series.. it plays fine for few minutes and then suddenly the sound disappears.. its happenin in all the movies n tv series..and nt in music videos..whn i play the series or movies in itunes..they work fine... plz help... thanks

The new iPod updater released today (or yesterday depending on where you live) apparently address this issue of loss of sound.
I say apparently because other people have posted in the iPod video forum that it does. I have no first hand knowledge of this as I don't have the loss of sound issue. I also have no knowledge of the converter you used.
You might want to try the new software version 1.1.1. and see if it cures the issue for you.

I just noticed that one of the restore methods you posted was to put it into Disk Mode First rather than just use the resstore straight off, I Have tried that and seems to have solved the problem, If it has thank you. previously I have only tried just restoring it skipping this extra step. Hope my iPod stays healthy, if it doesnt its a warrenty job me thinks any way thanks again

My brothers iPod is not working properly. From what he told me, he left it in his car overnight and it would not turn on or anything. So he gave it to me to send into Apple.
I havent done it yet, because I think this is a problem that can be resolved.
I plugged it into my computer and it charged just fine, it turned on. I could play all his music and it seemed perfect.
Then I checked his videos, and when I clicked one it would freeze the iPod, then finally, when the iPod got unfrozen, the audio played only.
I've checked the video output tv thing and it is set to off.
I asked someone at Futureshop and she said they weren't organized properly, so I need to download a program from the iTunes website. Only, I can't find the program.
These videos used to work perfectly fine, the problem is only recent.

Problems with video out after closing the lid.

I bought a Mini-Display Port to HDMI and connected it to my macbook pro and to my tv....Everything is perfect i close the lid....Now i am pretty sure i read somewhere that you can still use your macbook if you have it connected to an external screen and even if the lid is closed...can anyone tell me if i have to do something in the preferences?or is it just normal...I am new with macs,just bought mine 1 1/2 months ago so please take it easy on me... :P Thanks

You can use the MacBook Pro after you close the lid it's called 'Clamshell Mode' but for it to work correctly you have to attached a keyboard and mouse as well as the TV, then you can close the lid to put it to sleep then touch a key on the keyboard or move the mouse and it will wake up again and display on the screen.

Unfortunately that is not all that uncommon for the Early Intel iMac's given there age and the fact that the air intakes are probably choked with dust. Then add the extra heat caused by running a more intense OS X which is causing it to run a little warmer than normal and putting extra stress on the graphic and display components.
My 6½ year old 17" Early 2006 Core Duo w/2GB of RAM is also running 10.6.8 and is also starting to get a single line that (knock on wood) goes away after a few minutes, while many others started getting permanent ones after 2 or 3 years. One thing that I think has helped, is that about every 3 or 4 months I shutdown and vigorously vacuum out the bottom grill work and small vent under the stand to keep it running cool.
On that note: unfortunately I can only suggest that you clean your intake vents and hope that no permanent or irreversible damage has been done.

Assuming you're running iPhoto 9 or later do the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.
2 - run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

Since about a week, When I launch a video, it takes a long time to get started, then only the sound starts with no pictures - If I press pause then play the video is played normally. Did anyone face or heard about same kind of issue .

Problem with videos and only one album playback

Hey everyone.
I'm having two problems.First off,there's one album on my iPod that plays weird.It sounds like it's skipping,but not like what I'm seeing a lot of you having problems with when it goes to the next song instead of finishing the current one.Mine sounds like a CD skipping,only it's constant and all throughout the song and sounds horrible,it ruins the song.It only does it with one album though,and it's my favorite album by my favorite band,so I'm kinda bummed.I initially had three songs on this album that I brought over from Windows Media Player after uploading it onto the from my CD about two years before I got the iPod.I later added a few more and they do the same thing.I'm wondering if it's a problem with the licensing,since it's only this album,because that's the same way I got most of my other songs and they're fine.I tried deleting them and re-uploading them from the CD,but that didn't help.Tried converting the file to AAC;that didn't help either.I'm utterly befuddled.
The second question is that I've got two videos I downloaded from Limewire that I converted to iPod format and everything you're supposed to do,but I can only get the video and not the audio.My video podcasts work fine,it's just these two I'm having a problem with.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On the second question...
If the videos are multiplexed MPEG files then the audio and the video are muxed onto the same track. QuickTime, and therefore any application that uses QT like iTunes, the iPod, iMovie (Mac app), etc. expect two separate tracks, one video and one audio. So when you play these muxed files, the video is played and the audio is not heard.
So you need to do a conversion on the file first. MPEG Streamclip is a popular one that comes in both Mac and Windows versions and is known to "repair" this problem.
See this other link for other applications that might be able to do the same thing. But your root cause is the muxed MPEG files.

I have this problem too, but it is intermittent. Sometimes the lock/unlock volume will drop to barely-audible, even though in settings the volume slider hasn't changed. If I then move the volume slider, it fixes the problem and the lock sounds jump back to normal, but then later on the problem will happen again.

When KDE shows a alert the alert's sound sounds with delay. 3-5 seconds.

Change the player to mplayer or something in the control panel (Sound and Multimedia - System notifications - Player Settings).

So i have a 2011 MacBook Pro and when i turned it on this morning a flashing folder came on with a question mark in the middle of it and it keeps flashing. So i tried googling any solutions and up so far nothing has worked. Please Help ?

Everytime i start up my laptop i press CMND+R to make it go to the repair disk utility but instead it takes me as if i have to install lion when i had Snow Leopard 10.6.8. When i do go to the repair disk utility, on the eft hand side shows two hardrives one is Untitled and another is Hitachi, i tried downloading snow leopard 10.6.8 onto a Re-writable disc using my windows computer. When i insterted it onto the disc drive it came out under SUPER DRIVE and everytime i double click on the CD it says something about attaching images/ I also forgot to mention that the MAC OSX 10.6.8 Update shows on the left hand side on the bottom in DMG format. I dont know what else to do, please help?

This is the firmware telling you it can't find a bootable OS X volume.
Usually to solve this all you do is hold the option key down on the built in keyboard while booting the computer, this enters Startup Manager and then you choose OS X to boot, then in System Preferences > Startup Disk you change it to the boot volume and it tells the firmware.

What you have is a 10.7 or 10.8 Recovery HD from when 10.7 or 10. was on the machine previously.
The Macintosh HD partition only was erased and 10.6 installed on it, without erasing the entire drive like what should have occured to remove the Recovery HD partition.
So you have a mucked up machine.

Well there goes your problem there, your downloading illegal copies of Snow Leopard from a untrusted location.
10.6 is not available for download, except from pirate sites. You likely have malware or a compromised system.

What you need to do is call Apple via phone, tell them the make of your machine and order the appropriate 10.6 disks, they are inexpensive now. Some machines that came with 10.6.3+ origianlly need machine specific disks, other wise pre-10.6.3 Intel Macs can use the 10.6.3 white retail disks.
Once you have the disks, you need to backup your personal information off the computer to a external storage drive using the emergency quick copy method, then disconnect it to prevent mistakes.
Most commonly used backup methods
Next follow this proceedure and make sure to select the ENTIRE drive on the far left with the drive makers name and size, this will erase the entire drive, then install 10.6 from the disk

When finished setup the machine and log onto the Internet and use Software Update to get current on 10.6.8
Don't use pirated software, it's likely been compromised in some fashion.

My Macbook freezes up with a black box in the middle of the screen. Inside the black box is a message to power down and then re power up.
The Mac does re-start, but freezes up again after a while.

N80 new problem with video playback

I have encountered a problem I didn't expect, when playing videos my N80 sometimes re boots itself part way through the video, this happens particularly with video podcasts downloaded from the BBC, any thoughts?
Btw, it doesn't always happen at the same point in the video and most times after re booting the same video will play without fault, strange.

Hi jacobsladder, I have an Orange branded phone - with all the Orange software on it, all I did was to delete the operator settings from the phone andchange a few settings to suit myself, btw, if you delete the Orange operator settings your phone will never revert back to the Orange defaults like always on packet data etc. I was advised some time ago by Orange that if I ran my phone in gsm mode only it would be more reliable and the battery would last longer, however since firmware upgrade I'm running in dual mode without any problems, the phone is far easier to live with now - or am I just used to its quirks?
On the subject of memory cards I am aware that some brands don't work too wel but remember also that not all mini sd cards are created equal and not all manufacturers have the same sort of quality control, best to go for a genuine reputable brand - which personal experience tells me they are.
