Aggiornamento riuscito correttamente. Grz

  • USB problem with K8N Platinum BIOS 1.C

I was running the beta BIOS 1.CA to fix a problem with one of my CPU cores not being detected on a warm boot and it worked great.
When I noticed the official release BIOS 1.C I upgraded but I noticed problems with my USB mouse and keyboard sticking occasionally, the keyboard sometimes needed two or three presses to type and I was losing mouse clicks, gone back to the beta 1.CA BIOS and everything is fine again.
Anyone else noticed this with 1.C BIOS?

Yes, I've gone back to the beta BIOS now and everything's fine
I only upgraded to the release version because usually releases are more stable than betas, obviously in this case the reverse is true

  • Super-strange problem with display - EFI BIOS missing or corrupted?

    OK, so here's the breakdown.
When I insert Windows CD/DVD - screen lights up, installation goes, no problems.
When I insert OS X Install CD - no picture, no go. It "installs in the background without providing any picture to my LCD screen". Zapping, resetting, taking out battery, nothing works. I have three Mac Edition VGA's, all exhibit the same problems so this is absolutely not a VGA problem.
For example, out of pure misery, I tried installing iAtkos v7. It works. Of course, this has a classic DOS/ISO compatible booting procedure that doesn't require Mac CD/DVD format.
Please help, run out of ideas.

OK, so, wrong group but... don't kill me
We're talking about a early-2008 Mac Pro, two quad-core Xeons at 3.0, 16GB memory, three different VGA's tried (they're not inside at the same time - I bought two more so I can test and check if it's VGA that's the problem, so, only one inside at the time) - 7300GT, and two GT120's. No other hardware inside, nothing connected, no network connection at this time.
All three VGA's work happily when I put the Win 7 install DVD (Ultimate 64-bit, but I tried with Vista and XP as well and it boots and everything is ok), but as soon as I put Snow Leopard Retail DVD inside (or the original DVD that came with it) - the screen remains blank while computer powers up and never reaches the "gray screen" status. None of the keyboard combinations (Option key, D key, C key, X key - while starting up the computer) - managed to do a thing about it.
It just seems to me that my previous OS X installation that used to work (the one that was up there when I bought it brand new) - installed some firmware update that screwed up something on the motherboard. That's why I'm saying that it seems as though EFI BIOS on the motherboard is corrupted or something.
Is there some way to re-flash the bios of this motherboard via bootable cd and/or from Windows? I tried that firmware restore CD, but as it never reaches the grey screen, I can't tell what's going on so - no help on that part.
Any help would be hugely welcome.

  • Need some help - having problems with Dell Workstation BIOS not making all RAM usable

    Hi,
I'm having problems upgrading the RAM in my T7400 workstation. I previously had 8 x 1 Gb modules and I'm now trying to use 8 x 2Gb (total 16 Gb). This fills up all 8 DIMM slots on the motherboard.
The replacement RAM is of the correct type, PC2-5300F DDR2, CL5, EEC Fully Buffered (same type as I had before). Each stick is also the same manufacturer (HP Micron), size, rank, timings etc. The problem is the BIOS won't recognise more than 8Gb as usable (it does detect all 8 sticks as it lists out all of the modules).
This is what I've tried so far:
Tested each module independently in DIMM slot 1 and it's recognised fine. (And I know all of the slots work, since I previously had 8 x 1Gb working ok).
I tried putting 8 Gb in DIMM slots 1-4, still only reporting 4 Gb usable (all modules detected).
I ran memory tests, everything checked out fine.
I reset the CMOS with the RTC jumper (suggested elsewhere on the forums).
I could find no bios option to remap memory.
Windows 7 Pro also shows 16Gb installed but only 8Gb usable (this is not an OS issue, since the BIOS is showing the same problem, before it even gets to loading Windows).
I haven't tried flashing the BIOS but I doubt this is the issue. I've been through the changelog of each revision after mine and it doesn't mention anything about fixes to memory detection (Also similar reports of my issue said upgrading the BIOS made no difference). I'd rather not mess things up when everything else runs smoothly and I'm very much out of warranty.
Of course, Dell won't help directly without trying to bill me for technical support.
Can anyone please suggest anything else I can try?
    Thanks for reading.

Dimms that show half of the ram are High Density 4 rank and not compatible. Any ole Joes crab shack ram doesn't work. Only Specific vendors ram works. Buying ram based on a cheap price almost guarantees that its high density.  High density modules have less ram chips on them and are therefore cheaper.
    DDR2 PC2-5300 • CL=5 • Fully Buffered • ECC • DDR2-667 • 1.8V • 1024Meg x 72 •
HIGH Density Ram WILL NOT WORK.

The caps lock blinking three times indicates it is related to the RAM.
You can try disconnecting everything including the battery and the AC charger, holding the power button for one minute, and then turning it on.
If that does not help, then you can try removing each RAM module and trying with them one at a time.
Page 60 of this guide details how to remove the RAM should you need it.

  • Problem with 2.26 Bios Update Z61t

I installed Vista and then updated the bios to the latest version (2.26) which touts as one of its highlights:
(Fix) (On Windows Vista) The Fn+Home/End key operation to adjust the screen brightness does not work when the lid is closed to enter sleep mode with battery-powered and the AC adapter is attached to the computer with the lid closed and then the lid is opened to resume normal operation.
Well, this is exactly the problem I am having post-2.26.  When I enter standby (close lid) and resume later, the brightness drops down to the lowest setting and thinks it's at the highest.  It will not respond to the Fn+Home/End keys or the power manager.  It also disables my wireless connection so that I have to manually turn it back on at resume.  I am typing this on a dim screen at the moment.  I will have to completely restart to regain my brightness controls.
    Any fixes? Suggestions?

Oh, I also went into the BIOS itself and tried disabling the screen dimmer (which is an option) but that had no effect.  It's still doing it.  I wish I could at least figure out a way to re-engage the brightness without rebooting.

  • Tecra S1 - problems with touchpad after BIOS-update to 2.50

    Hi,
after the BIOS-update to version 2.5, the touchpad doesn't do anything. Starting in the docking station, the optional PS2 mouse works without any problem. Starting undocked, the touchpad doesn't work anymore. Normally - before update - the touchpad started it's work immediately after undocked booting.
What can I do to reactivate the touchpad???
    Wanky

    Hi Jeffrey,
    thank you for your tips!
First I tried the hotkeys. All hotkey combinations work successful - except for the touchpad key F9...
After reinstallation of the touchpad driver, undocking the Tecra and disconnecting the USB-mouse I started with the Toshiba HWSetup tool to switch the functionality of the pointing devices to simultaneously. After installing the touchpad driver and repeated booting of the Tecra -> no progress.
After all examinations, no step further... I'm tired...
If you have another ideas, please let me know.
    Kind regards,
    Uwe

  • Optical mouse problems with K8N Neo - BIOS?

Hi guys, I recently bought a cheapo Trust USB Wireless optical mouse.
    I tried E-mailing the manufacturer, asking about the problem;
"The mouse works fine as long as its in continuous motion, but heres the
    problem:
Whenever Ive let go of it for a few seconds and then try to move it again,
it moves around the screen in an uncontrollable manner for a second or two before
    it returns to normal state.
This seems to have something to do with the "powersaving" capability of the
mouse or something. You know, most optical mouses power down after a few seconds of inactivity, and wakes up as soon as its moved. This one sort of has problems wake up properly.
Im using the standard XP drivers for HID-compilant mouse.
Can I do anything to prevent this? Its really annoying."
    So heres the reply:
it can be due to an incorrect set setting in your computer's BIOS. I
suggest you take the manual of the PC or Main board before looking into your
    BIOS.
You have to set the option like "Power Management" correctly.
Every BIOS on each PC brand is different so we can't exactly guide you in
    this.
So is there a way to fix this? Have tried looking through BIOS myself, but can't find anything that seems related to this....

  • X79A-GD65 8D problem with built in BIOS utilities (browser, etc)

Good day. I have my X79A-GD65 8D running for about a week now paired with i7 3930k. The board is working wonderfully, however there is just one issue. After installing winki from the cd and returning to the bios to use the built in browser or MSI live update, the white splash screen appears for a while and shortly after a black screen appears and remains.
Ive tried leaving the disc in the drive and have the browsre run directly from the CD but still no luck. I've also borrowed the install DVD of a friend of mine who has an identical board but it still doesnt work.
Please note that I am on the latest BIOS, version 1.7.
    Any help will be appreciated.

Must be talking about Winki? The Software Application User Guide covers it pretty well how it all works and such. Using Live Update is not recommended to be installed or used. Do all UEFI/BIOS updates and driver updates manually from the downloaded files available at the MSI Websites.

  • Problem with resolution in BIOS on FM2-A75IA-E53

    Hi everyone.
I'm working on a fully operational Windows 8 Pro 64 install on my new system. Specs are:
    FM2-A75IA-E53
    AMD A6-5400K
KINGSTON 2X2GB HYPER WHATEVER (THE BLUE ONES)
    OCZ VERTEX3 SSD
all tucked away nicely in a Silverstone SG06 case
hooked up to a 42" Samsung 720P plasma tv
Like I mentioned, everything works as it should. However, I am unable to update the BIOS from 2.0 to 2.2 because when I boot into BIOS, the resolution is all whacked out. I'm only able to see the upper left corner of the screen (cuts off just below "MSI Settings" menu option). I am unable to scroll or move.
Does anyone have any ideas about fixing my resolution so I can update the BIOS??
I appreciate any and all suggestions!

Are you using HDMI or VGA connectors ?
Suggest you connect it via the normal VGA port to a standard monitor to see if the BIOS displays correctly and then flash it.
Afterwards retest with a servicable HDMI cable.

  • Problems with 3.4 bios for k7n2-l

    1) everytime i switch my pc on, it hangs.  i have to press the reset button to get it to post.
    2) i got 5 entries of "memory controller" in device manager.  after flashing my bios, windows auto-detected these entries.
    3) i can't oc that high anymore.  my pc would hang if i set it to 191fsb. before, i can even reach 200.
i'm really disappointed with msi.  makes me wanna switch to another mobo manufacturer.  i'm just sick and tired of this motherboard.  i can't even set my ram voltage.

With my older kt266a chipset and a 1700+ cpu, I had the regular cpu temp higher than case temp.
But then I applied a patch that enabled the use of the CPU HALT command.  This effectively stopped the cpu completely when it wasn't doing anything.  The temps at 100% load did NOT change, but the temps at idle were dramastically different.
Considering the effectiveness of todays heat sinks, it is not unbelievable for a cpu temp to be lower than a case temp, as long as the cpu temp is above ambient.  In my case, I have 2 7200 rpm hard drives, which have 2 80mm fans blowing on them.  There is also an nvidia gf4 4200 which puts off a good deal of heat.  If the mobo temp sensor is located in such an area that it picks up the heat from those items, and the cpu get's airflow that has not been heated by those items, then I can see how there would be a large difference in temperature from mobo to cpu at idle.
at load, the cpu should be above mobo temps if you use a regular case and air cooling method.

  • Problem with latest z620 bios

Hmm, i'm always saddened just a little when i hear that a BIOS update seems to be problematic. Sounds like HP quality control w.r.t. BIOS testing slips yet again. All i can suggest is clear NVRAM and try again, if your lucky, then it should sort itself out but i wont hold my breath.

HP has released a Custoemr Advisory at:http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.oid=5225033&docId=emr_na-c04743732&docLocale=en_US Please follow the instrution in the RESOLUTION.-Update system to BIOS version 3.88
-If you receive the F1 prompt for "Thermal Sensor Not Programmed", follow the steps below:
    1. Remove AC power from the system
    2. Press front power button to bleed off remaining stored energy. Continue to press until no lights appear on the front power button LED.
    3. Plug AC cable back into system and press the power button.
    4. If condition persists, contact HP support.

    Hi!
I'm having problems with downgrading my bios from version 4.3 to 1.19. I want to downgrade, because 4.3 doesn't want to boot when I use xmp settings for my RAM ( that might be related to my CPU since I have i5 2500k which is 32nm and 4.3 version of BIOS is recommended for 22nm processors ). When I try to flash with the MSI Forum HQ USB Flashing Tool I'm getting an error: "Rom file ROMID is not compatible with existing BIOS ROMID".
