Problema de video con InDesign CS5

  Hola colegas

  • Problems with transparent objects InDesign CS5.5

Hi, I have troubles with using transparent objects in InDesign CS5.5 (Win7):
If there is a transparent object in the background, is problem to move with another objects over this area. The object moving over the area with transparency "erases" objects below: texts, boxes.... They are not in fact erased, this effect tooks  only for the moment of movement and little bit longer. I have to wait for a while and after it is ok, but the work is slower and software is not working fast as I was got used in older versions.
This trouble is not a problem of my computer (I have a new one with 16GB RAM, i5 processor), the same trouble with the same InDesign is on my laptop.
Updates of InDesign are automatically installed.
Can you give me some advice?
    Thanks, Petra
this is screenshot - I moved with blue object - below you can see trails of "erasing"

Yes, exactly, looks like glitch in the video. After I stop moving with object, everything is ok again. But not immidiatelly, there is a little delay (1 or 2 seconds). It doesn´t demage my work, it´s only glitch effect. But it delay me in work, it´s not pleasant to work with this glitch effects

  • Videos in Indesign CS5 swf docs not playing in certain browsers

I've included a video in an Indesign CS5 exported swf file. It plays fine on my pc within IE8 but on a macbook with firefox 3.6.13 and safari 4.1.3 the video can be seen, but when you click to play it the page goes white. Any help greatfully received.

I have never had any video problems with Mac/FF/Safari... Did you try to open your SWF from same location that you used with PC? or did you move it to another location for opening it with Mac? If you moved it, did you also move a resources folder where the actual video file is stored?
InDesign does not embedd the video into the SWF.
When you use Safari and some externally loaded element doesn´t work, you probably see that in Activity window (Window>Activity).

  • Problems Updating Producer Tools - InDesign CS5.5

    Hi,
I am trying to update the Folio Producer tools in InDesign CS5.5, but each time I unzip the files, Windows shows duplicate files and then prompts for actions; keep original files and new files (same name but different sizes and creation dates), replace the same name files with the latest versions or include the duplicate files.
I have tried each option but cannot get any of them to work. At each stage I have tried the “set-up exe” but a pop up informs me that the file cannot be found.
I also uninstalled the Folio Producer tools and the Folio Builder before attempting to install updated versions of both packages. The order I used to install the updated packages was Folio Producer tools first and then Folio Builder.
    OS: Win7 Enterprise
    InDesign: CS5.5
    Producer Tools: V 1.10.1
    Duplicate files: 130!
Can anyone PLEASE help me out with a solution?
    Thanks in advance.

  • How Do You Insert a Video into InDesign CS5.5

What application do you use for making the video?
What are the steps after you make the video to place the video into a web page in InDesign CS5.5?

InDesign cannot place a video into a web page. You might do that in Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe's premiere program for handling HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
InDesign CAN place a video into an interactive PDF file or a SWF (Flash Player) file.
You can create video in many applications including Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, iMovie and many more applications.

  • Linking Video in Indesign CS5.5

    Hello,
I'm getting an error message of "The URL must reference a file that is compliant with flash player when trying to incorporate a linked video into Indesign CS 5.5. Why am I getting this error message? I would like to export the file as an interactive pdf.
    Thanks.

So it sounds like you're trying to stream a video stored on a server, correct?
Here's the way the URL must be written:
"The URL must point to a file that ends in the appropriate file extension; for example, http://www.fakeURL.com/videos/Intro_Video.f4v for a file on a web server. Use rtmp:// in the URL for a video on the Flash Media Server or Flash Streaming Service."
This is from an article I wrote for InDesign Magazine on placing video into InDesign.

  • Indesign CS5 with PNG file exporting as a PDF file but the text is random bold

    Hello,
I am looking for help to teach me how to solve this problem.
I use Indesign CS5 to make a proposal. I set the page marker and sub title in the master page.
Of course, there are including dozens of pages and some pictures here.
And one of these page, I place a PNG file and type some text.
When I export this file as a PDF file, one page, which is including PNG file, the text becomes random bold.
Therefore, I have used PSD file to cover the PNG file. But finally getting the same problem.
So does anyone can help me how to solve this problem?
Thanks so much for your help.

This sounds like a known issue with transparency on the page. When transparency is introduced ID uses a differnt method, apparently, of rendering text on that page and it appears bolder on screen and can print that way on low resolution devices like desktop printers. It usually is not a problem on press output.
The only way to mainatian consistency would be to introduce transparency on all pages, perhaps by adding a transparent object to your master page.

  • Probelm with InDesign CS5 table resize

I am having problems resizing tables in InDesign CS5.
The width can be in- and decreased, however the height just won't move up nor down when pulling in the lower right corner nor anywhere else on the columns baseline.
    Anybody else having this problem?
Is it a bug or maybe just me not understanding things correctly in the help section...?
Any input is appreciated so knock yourselves out. :-)

    Hey again!
I figured it out. Just made a complete new document and tried again.
This time everything works as it's supposed to.
I assume the problem has something to do with the fact that I overtook the job I am currently working on from a colleague and thus there was some form for corruption or similar.
At least when starting from a fresh it's all working fine again.
But you just gave me the idea to check this possibility so I rated your answer as helpful.
However I have no clue what to do with the old document in order to change that. I guess it's one of those InDesign mysteries that so often occur but I also assume that copying and pasting will be sort of a solution..., well here and now at least.
So unless you know what could be the reason for the corruption I'll thank you very much for your time and kind help.

  • InDesign CS5 crashes when clicking on Edit menu or context menu

I had this infuriating problem with InDesign CS4, found a few references to others having the same issue, but never any real solutions.  This problem seems to in InDesign CS5 as well.
With a document open, if I click the Edit menu or right-click anywhere in the document window (including in the pasteboard area... it does not have to be on an object), ID immediately freezes and I get the Windows 7 "Adobe InDesign CS5 has stopped working" dialog.
I've deleted the preferences, created a brand new one-page document, and the problem persists.  If no document is open, I can pull down the Edit menu just fine.  With a document open, ID crashes before it even draws the menu.  It does not matter whether I use the mouse or the keyboard to get to the Edit menu.  I can also right-click on things like palette tabs to bring up the context menu.  But I cannot right-click anywhere on the document itself without ID crashing.
The maddening thing is that the problem did not show up until some time today.  I've brought up an object's Effects window via right-click plenty of times, as well as used the Fitting context menu.  It was working fine last night and earlier this morning.  Then suddenly for no discernible reason, the crashes started happening.  I am not aware of any changes to my system that might reasonably cause this.  No new fonts, no Windows updates, no Adobe updates.
Any suggestions on how else I can troubleshoot this?

    Peter,
Yes, I can bring up the Paragraph Styles and the Character palettes with no document open, edit the [Basic Paragraph] style to change the font family, then open a blank document, and new text boxes will use that font.
I'm on a bit of a deadline right now, so I ended up uninstalling ID CS5 and reinstalling it.  I can now successfully bring up the Edit menu and the right-click context menu both in a blank document and in the document I was working on before.  I'm sure the problem will reappear again at some random point in the future, so I am still looking for fixes that don't involve reinstalling the app.
BTW, I have tried exporting my work document to IDML and re-importing it, but to no avail.  I've also tried toggling Dynamic Spelling (past threads have suggested this as a possible fix), but also to no avail.
It would be really nice if Adobe products produced some sort of crash dump or bug report when this sort of thing happens...

  • Hard 100% InDesign CS5 crash - Dead?

I have a large multi-document book that causes a hard InDesign CS5 crash (submitted to Adobe without response many, many times).  Opening any of the book's documents causes the crash, or restarting InDesign after a crash - which crashes trying to recover.
I've done the following - many times in various orders:
o  Reset InDesign preferences (on restart with 4 keys or manually deleting hidden files per this forum).
o  Cleared all the font caches.
o  Run the Photoshop FontTest javascript (which identifies Lucida Grande as a problem).
o  Re-installed InDesign CS5 and updates completely (although without a complete preceding de-install).
    o  Re-installed Mac OS X 10.6 and updates completely.
o  On another machine, created individual markup documents of every document in the book (.idml files), then moved and tried to open them on the offending machine.
o  Removed all the "recovery" files - in the book's home folder as well as ~/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign/Version 7.0/en_US/
    o  Screamed.
In all cases, upon opening a document in the book (individually or via the book's list of documents) InDesign crashes.  I'm just about ready to get my money back for CS5.  Anybody have some magic?  I need it.

I have no idea why this should be so, but I found a way to retrieve corrupted documents in the book:
The book contained 12 documents - 6 of which were corrupted by InDesign and could not be read by ID CS5, ID CS4 nor could they be exported to .idml files because they couldn't be opened long enough to do so.  History (although I can no longer prove this) indicates that InDesign could corrupt a document during a crash (in book mode, with a good document open, try to open a corrupted document) and subsequent recovery attempt.  When I indicated that even CS5 on another machine would repeat the corruption process, this is how it happened on both of my machines.
So... I tried everything - going back to old backups (thanks to Time Machine), most of which were corrupted or earlier documents that were missing most of what I needed.  I was prepared to re-do hundreds of hours of work.  I re-installed Mac OS X 10.6 again.  I re-installed InDesign CS5 again... and I thought... before updating it (from the 7.0.0.355 disk distribution), let's try to open the corrupted versions of the documents.  It opened 5 of the 6.  Amazed, I quickly made uncorrupted copies of these documents, made markup files and replaced them in the original book.  The last document crashed, but it didn't spread to other open documents.  So (still without updating InDesign) I created a brand new book file and started adding the documents to it - leaving the one remaining document as the last addition.  When I added it, ID indicated it was damaged but added and opened it anyway.  I made an uncorrupted version of that document and replaced it in the replacement book.  I ran the PhotoShop font test again and it still reported that Lucida Grande (regular) was SNAFU, but Font Book reported it as OK - seeming to indicate that the font issue raised in this forum was not related.  I could find no visible abnormalities in any of the recovered documents.  (I was also the victim of the "Anchored Object outside the margin" crash problem early in CS5 that required an update to recover from.)
I'm going to update my copy of InDesign CS5 one of these days, but not until making extra backup copies of every ID document I've produced in the last year.  I'm a software guy and my instincts tell me that something (wild guess - the Adobe Cool Type feature of the Paragraph Composer/Optical Kerning plugin) is broken - perhaps worsened during a software update.  Adobe software is known to be "fragile" - I just had no idea how expensive such fragility could be.
I'm marking this thread "answered" although I still don't know the reason for the problem.  Thank you for your help and encouragement.

  • Missing words creating PDF with Acrobat 7 (newly installed InDesign CS5)

Since a few days I have some curiosity creating PDF files!
Randomly the PDF output is missing whole words in the document but having spares in the right tracking for them in the document.
It occurs that the missing words are subject to another font however not all words in this font are missing in the document.
Also my printer tell's me if he's going to print the PDF (in this case a serial letter with pre-stamped addresses) his computer is breaking down completely and also printing hieroglyphs.
This document was printed from MS Word 2003 with "Adobe PDF" as printer.
I also use FreePDFXP, though the same error comes up.
In addition I tried several settings for the PDF with no effect in the outcome.
I am still working with Acrobat 7 (from CS2 suite) under WinXP Professional SP3 and hadn't any problems before installing my InDesign CS5 upgrade a few days ago.
I only can assume that the problem is InDesign CS5 but cannot prove it.
Anyone an idea on how to solve the problem?!
I am really annoyed about this since for the pre-stamped letters I already paid money to the mail service and the need to be in the mail today - otherwise I am loosing several 100 Euros to the paper-bin).

    Thanks for your feedback.
However I checked all the settings in the joboptions. All fonts are to be embedded (100%) and I also actively selected the fonts to be transferred.
I am using TheSans from LucasFonts as Open Type.
For my document I have SemiLight as standard style and Bold for accentuation.
While the bold style will be printed in "bold only" lines, it is not printed in lines/paragraphs where also the SemiLight style is used.
When I change color of the words in bold, the effect inverts and only the bold style words are displayed but not the SemiLight text!
I have a second laptop with the same system and software configuration (Win XP Professional SP3; Acrobat 7), where the same document runs smoothly.
That's why I assume, that it must be the Indesign CS5 upgrade causing trouble (it's the only new addition to the first laptop).
Unfortunately Adobe has no answer here also.
The only solution would be to adopt my documents for this effect and follow the logic of the machine instead of my mind...
As we do so often since invention of computers...

  • Embed streaming video from my own Server into InDesign CS5

    Hi all,
I try to place a streaming video into my Indesign CS5 Document. InDesing seems to find the File, cause it shwos up the preview image in the Media Window, but the videoslider nor the play-button of the media-window is working.
    the link (Red5 Streaming Server):
    rtmp://87.230.53.80/oflaDemo/personaltv/bewerbermagazin/wuerzburg/test/video.flv
When I export it as an interactive PDF, and I click on the videoframe, it first shows the security dialog as expected, but after that it is only the empty player and the progressbar looks like it can not connect to the streaming server.
    Is there a workaround?
Thanks in Advance for any hint!
P.S.: If I load it from my webserver via http:// ... it works great.

I think this isn't really an InDesign issue at all. It sounds like an Acrobat issue.
First, you haven't said what version of Acrobat you're using. I'm assuming Acrobat X Pro?
I've used this with a friend's Flash Media Server so I know it works. What version of Flash server do you have installed?
I the link you provide I see a spaceband after the word "test" in the path. Could that be a problem?
Other than that, it appears that you're following the requirements listed in the Help file for Acrobat X Pro.
If you have further problems, you might post this on the Acrobat User Forum.

  • Indesign CS5 crash during startup - problem with Graphics.rpln

I work in an architectural company and already several of our computers have experienced this very rare and unusual behaviour. During start up of Indesign (not clicking on any file but just launching Indesign) it crashes with the following error:
"Adobe Indesign CS5 has stopped working"
We use Windows 7 64bit, so the first step I did - I went into Application Log which says, so appears to be a problem with Graphics.rpln.

I have tried everything I could think of - removed and reinstalled Adobe CS5, manually removed Adobe folders under %Appdata%\Local and %Appdata%\Remote folders (why can't Adobe delete those things during uninstallation is always a total mystery), changed video adapter drivers, cleaned Temp folders, everything I knew...
None of the other apps like Photoshop or Illustrator CS5 malfunction - only Indesign. What is going on?
Can it conflict with other software we use? We have Bentley Microstation, 3D Max, Office 2010, Kaspersky Antivirus and LOGMEIN installed on this computer...Any clues, guys?

Looks to me like you've never installed any of the patches. Last patch for CS5 was 7.0.4, so I'd start with that and see if ti helps.

  • Problems with InDesign CS5, Mac Pro & 5870

I am using InDesign CS5, OS X 10.7.3 (recent clean install) on a Mac Pro 3,1 (early 2008 Mac Pro) with Apple's ATI 5870 card.
When working with a series of InDesign files today I noticed an odd problem. On some pages, PDF documents that were placed in the layout were not displaying on screen (just a white, blank space). Also, some JPEG files were appearing garbled, as if corrupted, in some of the same layouts.
My first thought was that the graphic files in question had somehow become corrupted, but after opening them that didn't seem to be the case. The InDesign files were from different sources and other than this problem, the machine is running without issues.
I don't know why I thought to try this but I replaced the 5870 with the original ATI 2600 and the problem went away.
Nothing else seems to have a problem with the 5870 including some graphic heavy games.
Has anyone else experienced symptons like this?
    Thanks for your time.
    Regards,
    Keith

Keith: What patch release of InDesign are you running? Hold down Cmd and select About InDesign.
Did you try resetting your preferences?
I don't believe that InDesign is GPU-accellerated, and you games probably are. So if there are issues with non-GPU graphics on your card, that could be it.
Certainly hardware failure of the video card is consistent with your narrative.
