  • After iOS7 update while playing game iphone 5 overheat in just 2-3 mins. How to fix this problem?

After iOS7 update while playing game iphone 5 overheat in just 2-3 mins. How to fix this problem? Before upgrade to iOS7 I used to play game for hours and never faced this problem. This is specially when I play HayDay.
    Please advise.

Buenas, otra vez.
Hello again. I ended up installing AE CC to fix my problem. although that was not what I was looking for but at the end all that matter is to enjoy the software. The only unsolving issue is that I won't be able to enjoy the option of working graphics in GPU mode due to my graphic card. It needs CUDA and intel doesn't support it. I'll keep on looking for answers to my trouble with AE CS6 in the web.

  • [SOLVED] no sound after reinstall

    **EDIT**
    POST IS IRRELEVANT
My hp nc6220 laptop has an ICH6 soundchip and ac97 codec
Installing alsa-utils and running alsaconf was one of the first things I did after a reboot into the new system.
aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav worked. I set levels with alsamixer and did alsactl store.
Then I proceeded installing xfce4, mplayer, audacious and a whole lot of packages. When I wanted to listen to music, there was no sound. Not outside of X either. I don't remember if I rebooted inbetween. The three mediabuttons mute, lowervolume and raisevolume register, but do nothing. I see the osd come up when i press them playing video in mplayer, though.
    buttons:
    .Xmodmap
    keycode 160 = XF86AudioMute
    keycode 174 = XF86AudioLowerVolume
    keycode 176 = XF86AudioRaiseVolume
Is this kernel too new?       I have the 2.6.29-ARCH kernel. The modules snd_intel8x0, snd_intel8x0m and snd_ac97_codec are loaded. I'd like to go with alsa, I think it's more usable than oss. I have the same problem with debian sid and made a lengthy post about it. I finaly chose oss over alsa there.

  • [SOLVED] How to get ibus to work in xterm

Can anyone help me get ibus working in xterm? Ibus is working in all my other applications except xterm. In my pre-Arch days I had the same problem in Debian. In Debian I fixed the problem by editing /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/default so that it looked like this:
    # This configuration provides default IM setting (user edittable)
    # See im-switch(8) and /usr/share/doc/im-switch/README.Debian .
    # Define IM for traditional X application with XIM
    # XIM server name used for XMODIFIERS="@im=$XIM"
    # XIM program /path/filename
    # XIM program command line arguments
    # These were traditional setting before uim and scim for CJK languages
    # Language LC_CTYPE XIM server XMODIFIERS Start key
    # Japanese ja_JP* kinput2 "@im=kinput2" Shift-Space
    # Korean ko_KR* ami "@im=Ami" Shift-Space
    # Chinese(T) zh_TW.Big5 xcin "@im=xcin-zh_TW.big5" Ctrl-Space
    # Chinese(S) zh_CN.GB2312 xcin "@im=xcin-zh_CN.GB2312" Ctrl-Space
    XIM=ibus
    XIM_PROGRAM=/usr/bin/ibus-daemon
    XIM_ARGS="--xim"
    XIM_PROGRAM_XTRA=
    # Set following variable to non-zero string if program set itself as deamon
    XIM_PROGRAM_SETS_ITSELF_AS_DAEMON=
    # Define GTK and QT IM module
    # They may or may not be using xim as the IM.
    GTK_IM_MODULE=ibus
    QT_IM_MODULE=ibus
    # Define lists of packages neded for above IM to function
    DEPENDS="ibus, ibus-gtk, ibus-qt4"
    # Define X start up hook script to update IM environment
However, Arch does not even have the /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d directory, so I am a little lost. I think I have all the relevant packages installed (ibus, ibus-m17n, ibus-qt, libibus, xorg-xinput).

    Some more information:
1- The problem is not the font. The font I'm using in xterm supports the special characters.
2- The problem is that xterm ignores ibus completely. When I type "cx" I get the expected "ĉ" in all applications (e.g., firefox, mate-terminal) but xterm just gives me "cx"
    3- I already have this in ~/.bashrc:
    export GTK_IM_MODULE=ibus
    export XMODIFIERS=@im=ibus
    export QT_IM_MODULE=ibus
4- I'm on a laptop, fully updated 64-bit Arch Linux, LightDM, and MATE.
I've googled ad nauseam and this is driving me nuts. Please help.

  • Troubleshooting a freeze: HP DC7800, NVIDIA Quadro NVS 290, Windows 7

    Hello everyone,
I'm having problems with my HP DC7800 & Windows 7 (fresh install, 64 bit). The video card is NVIDIA Quadro NVS 290.
When any official NVIDIA driver is installed, I can boot into Windows 7, but just a few seconds into reaching the log in screen, there is a brief flicker & everything freezes. Though sometimes, the keyboard does respond: the CapsLock & the NumLock lights on my keyboard respond after a delay of, 5 seconds to 2 minutes.
When rolling back to whatever the default Windows drivers are available before installing the official drivers (WDDM v1.1?), I can't even get to the Windows log-in screen. The monitor displays "No Signal" and it's all blacked out. I have to shut it down with the physical power button.
When going back even further to the Standard VGA Graphics Adapter, I can boot into normal mode. Though using the same driver as the one in safe-mode is far from what I'm after.
Also, I should mention that I'm on a multi-boot system with Linux. They are on a separate drive and they can boot with comparitively-minimal problems.
Debian 7.7 with the open-source nouveau drivers work perfectly well.
Ubuntu-Gnome 14.04.1 with nouveau works well. With enough arm-twisting & the right combo of packages, I can get Ubuntu to work with the latest, official proprietary NVIDIA drivers.
Because I can get the NVIDIA card to work in 2 Linux distros, I'm fairly certain that the card is NOT completely broken.
It is the fresh-install of Windows 7 that is giving me trouble.
I've upgraded my BIOS to the latest available: 786F1 v01.32, 7/21/2011.
After updating BIOS, I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling several official drivers (309.00, 331.82, 333.11 & the latest: 341.05) with similar results.
For what it's worth, there is also an HP announcement. Should I update my Video BIOS, as the announcement says? How would I do that?
Other possibly important or irrelevant info:
    * when the NVIDIA card is not in the computer, I connect using the motherboard's VGA slot & I can boot into Windows 7 normal mode perfectly well.
    * when the NVIDIA card is in the computer, I can only boot into Windows safe mode. Booting Windows 7 into normal mode will freeze the computer a few seconds afterlogging in or reaching the login screen.
    * At an earlier point in my troubleshooting, I was getting a BSOD screen, which mentioned the nvlddmkm.sys file.
    * I've looked at my error logs, and they mostly report Event ID 7001 (Service Control Manager) and Event ID 10005 (Distributed DCOM)
    Main questions:
Is there something about updating my Video BIOS, as per the link above, that would help? Or is that video BIOS update included in the whole-system BIOS update to v01.32?
If I can get my computer to work in Windows 7 safe mode, Debian Linux (with open source driver) & Ubuntu (with open source & official proprietary drivers), why can't I get Windows 7 to work in normal mode?
Are there any display-specific error logs that could clue me in? The only error log I know about is the one available through Administrative Tools > Event Viewer.
Are there any alternative, reputable drivers available for the Quadro NVS 290 on Windows 7?
Thank you for your time and please let me know if you need any more info or if there's something else I can do.

When installing that HP Nvidia driver you linked, and even switching to DVI port #1. I got the same results:
boot into Windows normal mode, get to the log-in screen. There's a flicker on the screen & everything freezes.
Hmm, well I went ahead and tried using an official NVIDIA driver in my Ubuntu setup (14.04.1). The packages I installed for Ubuntu were 'nvidia-331-updates' and 'nvidia-331-updates-uvm'.
It works well, as long as I go into my NVIDIA X Server Settings > GPU 0 > PowerMizer > Preferred Mode > Prefer Maximum Performance.
I have to do this immediately after logging in, otherwise Ubuntu will freeze after about a minute.
I can do some moderate gaming, Team Fortress 2, resolution set to 1280x720, after about 15 minutes I log out and see that my GPU temp is 77 Celsius.
With the same configuration, at rest, the GPU is 64-66 Celsius.
Maybe my card is toasted? From my limited understanding of drivers, the official, proprietary driver will enable the more advanced features of the card. This only seems to be a problem when I use the NVIDIA drivers...But please correct me if I'm wrong.
Moderate gaming with open source nouveau drivers on Ubuntu doesn't perform well, but it doesn't crash either.
Anyway, I think I'll go ahead and order another card.
In the meantime, is there a way to configure the NVIDIA card from the command line for Windows normal mode? I'm trying to think of a way to work with it before the Windows GUI is loaded.

  • X230: SATA errors with 180GB Intel 520 SSD under heavy write load

    Hi,
We spent a couple of days cornering what appears to be an issue with the Intel 520 SSD drives in Lenovo x230 laptops. It was first showing up on a clean Debian installation, while installing a guest operating system into a VM. Looking around on forums, there appears to be some people having issues with database workloads too. So I decided to create a small user-space program to repoduce the problem. IMPORTANT: Before you try it, be ready for a system crash requiring a cold reboot.. It's available at:
    git://git.efficios.com/test-ssd.git
    direct link to .c file:
    https://git.efficios.com/?p=test-ssd.git;a=blob;f=test-ssd-write.c;hb=refs/heads/master
This program simply performs random-access-writes of 4Kb into a single file.
Executive summary of our findings (the details are in the test-ssd-write.c header in the git repo):
    - We reproduced this issue on 4 x230 machines (all our x230 have 180GB Intel drives, and they are all affected),
    - We took a SSD from one of the machines, moved it into an x200, and the problem still occurs,
    - The problem seems to occur independently of the filesystem (reproduced on ext3 and ext4),
    - Problem reproduced by test-ssd-write.c (git tree above): After less than 5 minutes of the heavy write workload, we get SATA errors and we need to cold reboot the machine to access the drive again. Example usage (don't forget to prepare for a computer freeze):
      ./test-ssd-write somefileondisk 209715200 1234 -z
(see options by just running ./test-ssd-write)
The problem occurs with drive model SSDSC2BW180A3L, with both firmwares LE1i and LF1i (those are Lenovo firmwares). We could reproduce the issue on 3.2 (Debian), 3.5 (Debian), 3.7.9 (Arch) distribution kernels. We could reproduce it with x230 BIOS G2ET90WW (2.50) 2012-20-12 and G2ET86WW (2.06) 2012-11-13, but since it can be reproduced on a x200 too, it does not appear to be a BIOS issue.
We tried the program on a range of other SSD drives, one of those including the same SandForce 2281 controller (details within test-ssd-write.c header). So our current guess is that the Lenovo firmware on the SSD might be part of the problem, but it might be good if we could to confirm that Intel's firmwares work fine.
Thoughts, ideas, hints about who to contact on this issue would be very much welcome,
    Thanks,
    Mathieu

I can confirm the exact same problem with Debian and Ubuntu.
I can reproduce it easily on Debian by installing a VM.
On Ubuntu it is harder to reproduce but I already hit this problem when installing updates (dpkg does a lot of sync/fdatasync just like your test program).
I think the difference between the 2 distros that explain why it is easier to reproduce on one is the default I/O scheduler (cfq for Debian and deadline for Ubuntu).
Lenovo already completely replaced my laptop (X230 with SSDSC2BW180A3L) and I still have this problem.
    We need a firmware fix.
    Thanks !

    Thread Alarm Q:

    Hi there,
I am trying to install Oracle 9i on a Linux system of my own brew:
    - Rock Linux 1.4.0
    - Kernel 2.4.17
    - GlibC 2.2.5
When I start the installation it barfs out with a SIGSEGV (see below). The problem is caused by the JRE that is unpacked into /tmp/OraInstall/jre. When I use this JRE to execute a simple HelloWorld Java program, it explodes at the same location...
    Hmmm.....Same symptoms with:
    - Debian woody (glibc 2.2.4-7)
    - Kernel 2.4.17
    SIGSEV when starting runInstaller
    /var/tmp/OraInstall/jre/bin/jre anyargument
    gives same errors
Hmmmmmmmmmmm .... Yep i have the exact same problem with debian woody / some sid programs.
    kernel 2.4.17
i am running devfs which may be a cause for it, as well as mem="nopentium" to fix the amd / agpgart bug.
i have yet to test it with these turned off.
i managed to get the installer running on a debian woody box with 2.4.14 but it didnt have enough ram/swap.
of course i just noticed that we are all running 2.4.17 so that could also be the problem.

  • Arch systemd and bus error

    Bus error.
I have a problem which only occurs in Arch Linux.
It's about an open source process control system.
There are no problem with Debian, Ubuntu and Gentoo (x86 and ARM)
In Arch Linux I get a bus error.
I know it has to do with accessing memory.
The problems occurs in both x86 and the ARM versions.
My question is what is the difference between the way systemd handles the bus in ArchLinux and the other distros?
I know it is impossible to answer but maybe is there somebody who can point me to a direction .....
    Best regards,
    Marc

    Hi Karol,
    Thanks for your quick respons.

Proview, the process control system, this issue is about, uses while loading classes.
When I leave some classes out and use a more basic system I can get it running.
But, again, there is no problem with Ubuntu (x86), Debian (x86 and ARM) and Gentoo (x86 and ARM)......
The reason I am intersted in solving this problem is the blazing speed from Arch Linux on the Raspberry.
ArchLinux is blowing Debian and even Gentoo (hard-float versions) completely away on the Pi.
    Regards,
    Marc

  • High cpu usage when moving application windows

    Hello all,
I have two machines with arch installed:
    - an eeepc 701 surf/intel gpu(xorg driver) with xfce
    - an amd 3800+ X2/nvidia 8860 gt(proprietary driver) with kdemod3(also checked with xfce4)/arch amd64 installed.
I noticed that when i move a window of an application(for example konsole, etc..) too fast i get high cpu usage(30-40 %), when checking with htop.
Is it normal that the X server uses the cpu so much when moving a window??
EDIT: up to now i tested it in a friends windows machine, and it happens exactly the same, so i guess is normal. It seems i need to be informed better about how X works :-)

today i switced back my desktop system to debian unstable and tried to see what the difference is concerning this problem.
I found out that in kde3 the solution to the "problem" is debians kde default configuration about window behaviour.
Especially the one mentioned below :
In debian this is not ticked and this has as a result zero cpu usage when windows are moved.

  • Please help with RED HAT INSTALL

I am trying to install jdk (or whatever have they changed it's name to) 1.3.1 on Red Had Linux, but i run into this problem:
The file I get is called:
    j2sdk-1_3_1-linux-i386-rpm.bin
and it is supposed to be a rpm file that when ran with rpm installs the application.
But if i try to run rpm -ivh j2sdk-1_3_1-linux-i386-rpm.bin it says that this file doesn't look to be an RPM file. I am trying to install as root so there is no security issue.
    Any help is welcome,
    Calin

    j2sdk-1_3_1-linux-i386-rpm.bin
I had the same problem with Debian. What I wound up
doing was renaming the file. Try
    mv j2sdk-1_3_1-linux-i386-rpm.bin j2sdk-1_3_1-linux--386-rpm
    It should work after that.
