Problema mouse button down in 2d picture

  • How do I keep the drop down menu in the navigation bar open without continuously holding the mouse button down?

When I use the mouse to hover over the naviation bar, I can see it, but once I select a drop down like bookmarks, I have to continuously hold the mouse button down until I move it to the bookmark I want, then I release the mouse button to select the bookmark. I used to be able to just click once to open the bookmark drop down, then click once to choose the bookmark I wanted to open. How do I get this function back?

  • Dragging with the Middle mouse button down should move the viewport.

Just like it says in the title: I believe that dragging with the Middle mouse button down should move the viewport, just like using the hand tool. Would be very handy for people still using a mouse. This can be hacked together using SetPoint (or similar software), but it doesn't work perfectly. Photoshop should've had it for a very long time, as the middle mouse button could be used to move around documents in other applications (web browsers, word processors, other graphics programs) for years.

I've never had that happen with Firefox 4 on WinXP. I haven't updated my Netbook that runs Ubuntu to Firefox 4 yet.
    1. Try disabling the Java Console 6.0.24 and the Java Quick Starter 1.0 extensions and see if that solves your middle-click problem.
    2. Try the Firefox SafeMode. <br />
''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.''
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)''
    # You can open the Firefox 4.0 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    # Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.''
If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

When the Mac is awaken from sleep mode the screen is white.  I can hold the mouse button down and sweep the screen and the desktop reappears and everything works as normal..This just started and I am concerned that some hardware, video card or video memory is failing.  Has anyone else had this problem and what was the solution?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem.  Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Cannot open iPhoto. It's on the toolbar, but will not open. I can hold the mouse over the icon and hold the mouse button down and iPhoto will open to a thumbnail photo, but if I click anywhere on the page, iPhoto closes. iPhoto shows open on top of page, but practically all selectable items are gray.

It sounds like the window might have slipped down below the Dock or similar. Try change your screen resolution and (SystemPreferneces -> Displays) and that should force it back into reach. The return the resolution to whatever it was.

  • Numpad Zero on Keyboard locks Mouse Buttons

Hi, I'm using a 2.0 ghz PowerPC G5 iMac on MacOS 10.4.10, and I've had this problem for about a year now. I'm using an Apple wireless keyboard and an apple Mighty Mouse. I've switched keyboards and mice a dozen times trying to fix this problem, and have already reset keyboard shortcuts to defaults in case that was it. It's not activating mouse controlled by keyboard, because I still can move my mouse, I just can't click anytime this happens. Which is often. Anytime I click the zero on the number pad of a keyboard, it completely disables use of mouse buttons on any mouse I try. The only way to fix it is a forced reboot by holding the power button of my iMac, it drives me insane. Please help if you can!

Mouse Keys is on. You may have turned it on by pressing Option five times. Press Option five times to turn it off. You can disable the Option control of Mouse Keys in the "Mouse" tab of "Universal Access" system preference. When Mouse Keys is on, Keypad-0 locks the mouse button down. Keypad-5 will release it.

  • Move Slider while  mouse is down

I am somewhat of a new lingo user but here goes:
I am trying to click on an open area (I put a hidden object
there for scripting). When I click on this area and hold the mouse
button down, I want to activate a slider bar at that location and
then have the slider go up and down as I move the mouse up and down
with the button down. I have the the click working so that the
slider bar appears (I avdanced to the next frame) and I have the
basic slider motion so that if I hold down on the slider, it
follows the mouse. What I do not have working is to have the slider
bar start at the current mouse position where I clicked. Any ideas
    on this?
    Thanks

You can find a behavior that uses Imaging Lingo to create a
slider similar to the one you describe
    here..
Click on the little arrow under the paint tools to see it in
    action.

  • Trouble selecting emails when holding mouse button a fraction too long

I'm setting up a mac mini with Lion installed for an aging friend.  When she clicks on a message in Mail she seems to hold the mouse button down a fraction longer than usual and a small image of an envelope appears.  The messages does not get selected and therefore does not show up in the preview pane.  I'd like to turn off whatever this is or increase the delay time on it.  Could you tell me what this is and how to change it?
    Thanks,
    Derrick (representing Angela)

Take a look at System Preferences > Universal Access > Keyboard tab > Slow Keys
You can also adjust the Acceptance Delay.
    Regards,
    Captfred
Edit: Sorry,  try the Mouse & Trackpad tab of Universal Access, Initial Delay.

  • Mavericks Mail-cannot scroll down to select a group by holding mouse button.

I do not like the new Mavericks mail. When I attempt to hold the left mouse button and scroll down to select a group, the program automatically locks onto the first message I touch and moves it. Prior to Mavericks scrolling was an easy process. This new mail is very clumsy and I have to select one message, then hold shift key, then selelct the last message in the group. ....Clumsy and slow.
Does anyone know a workaround for this? The tutorials don't address it and the "What's new in Mail?" file doesn't either.  If there is not a workaround, is there a way to disable the Mavericks configuration in Mail and go back to regular mail? I'd appreciate any tips or help on  this.

Okay, I tried deleting the Finder preferences first (along with a handful of other preference files that I knew were no longer needed), and it seemed to help--at first. But eventually, all the same problems started happening again, so I concluded that it was necessary to just start with a fresh (empty) preferences folder. As you know, this is a pain to deal with, but I limited my pain by moving all the old preferences files into a folder on the Desktop rather than simply deleting them. That way, I could just put back any missing preferences that were too hard to recreate. Restoring all of my preferences with new (uncorrupted) prefs files will be an ongoing process, but the good news is that this effort (so far) seems to have solved the problem. Mail is responding to all my clicks, even when I switch between different apps and different spaces.  :-)
Now that things are working correctly, I notice that when I switch between apps and/or spaces, the selected app (or the frontmost app in the new space) will show an active state for its window, whereas before, the selected app didn't update to show that it was active--it kept the inactive state for its window. I'm no expert, but it seems to me that this might have something to do with the windowserver process, so it might make sense for the next person who stumbles on this thread to start by deleting any preferences files that begin with com.apple.windowserver. Just a hunch, but it's worth starting there before you do a complete flush of all your preferences.
Thanks again for the help--hopefully this workaround will be persistent. Fingers crossed!

  • Machine mistakenly thinks mouse button is held down while dragging

I have a bizarre, intermittent problem. Very occasionally, when I'm dragging files between folders, my computer thinks that the mouse button is still being held down even after I release it. As a result, I am constantly "carrying" the files around the screen with the mouse and I'm completely incapable of doing anything else since the machine thinks I'm mid-drag. As far as I can figure out, the only way to fix this is to reboot the machine. Extreme, I know, but I can't figure out any other way to get out of this state. This typically happens to me once or twice a week and I use my computer fairly heavily.
So, has anyone else heard reports of this bizarre behavior before? Any solutions?
I don't know if this matters, but I'm using a wireless mouse. However, plugging in a wired mouse while this is happening doesn't seem to be a solution.

Have you checked your System Preferences? If not...
Open System Preferences from your Application folder. Click: Keyboard&Mouse, and select the Mouse tab. At the bottom of that window change your Tracking, Scrolling and double clicking to see if that makes a difference.
If the wireless is a Mighty Mouse, try cleaning it: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1537
Mice need cleaning periodically. Fingerprints, lotions, dust, and lint can cause problems.
Clean the USB mouse as well.

  • Mouse button 4 conflict or virus problem horrifying me.

I have a mouse button 4 problem which occurred a week ago on my first Imac which I returned to the Apple Store for another Imac. However the same thing happened on the second Imac where everything including the USB extension cable was completely replaced and absolute no parts of the computers were the same. The problem happened on the two different Imacs where in the first case on the first computer expose which was assigned to the Mouse button 4 kept turning on and off by itself as I merely rolled the mouse back and forth and where in the second case on the second computer dashboard which was assigned to the Mouse button 4 kept turning on and off by itself as I again rolled the mouse back and forth. In both cases, in completely different computers, fluky things started to happen, all beginning with the same Mouse button 4 and the function assigned to it.
Today, a week later, it happened again but did not start a cycle once I clicked the Mouse button 4 again. In the other two cases, the continued appearance and disappearance of the Mouse button 4 function apparently caused the mouse to become so confused and crazy that merely by pointing at a menu item like File or Edit or View, the drop down menus came down all by themselves without pressing the left side of the mouse! In both computers, first with expose turning on and off and then with dashboard doing the same, it became very difficult to carry out the technician's instructions to click the blue apple, click system preferences, go to mouse and keyboard, etc.
I informed the technician at Apple Procare when this happened on the second new computer that the left and right mouse buttons seemed to be self-actuating and clicking by themselves without me touching them. He had me shut down the computer, unplug all wires from the USB ports including the power cord and hold down four keys at the same time while rebooting to reassign the devices to the USB card ports presumably.
The genius at the apple store told me that there was never anything wrong with either my first or second Imac and that there was some other factor responsible for the strange goings on like my two peripherals a Canon N676U scanner or my new HP laserJet 1022 printer in the way of a conflict with the mouse control especially most notably mouse button 4 actuating without pressing it at its own whim!
Up till the time that I talked to the genius, I had theories of my own. I did a virus check with two separate trial versions of anti-virus software for Mac, I erased and installed Tiger in each computer after each identical occurrence and finally even erased and installed Leopard which I bought. My theory was that my backup disks from my PC were hosting a Mac virus which I may have caught on my backup disks because a friend of mine with a Mac goes all over the web into dangerous and exotic sites. She once gave me a Trojan virus in a download of some music which apparently was hosted on her Mac and transferred over with the download of music as a strange setup.exe file.
I used the antivirus to scan all my backup disks from my PC which I introduced into both my first and second Imac. No infections.
I changed the USB extension cable, not trusting the one I got from the apple store nor did I trust the replacement one I got from them with the new machine. I used a Radio Shack cord instead which fits more snuggly.
I called Hewlett-Packaged and Canon to find out if there were any known issues of conflict between control of the mouse and the drivers of either my printer or scanner.
It seems like in both computers only the mouse button 4 was affected and by my turning it on and off, on and off, on and off, the USB card lost control of the other buttons of the mouse so that the technician had to reset each of the computers during their separate occurrences of the same exact "bug".
I went into safe mode but I don't know what that proved by shutting off the drivers of the printer and scanner. Right now I have the scanner driver and printer driver totally uninstalled and am monitoring the IMac for the odd behavior without the peripherals attached. What I don't know is if the problem if there is some conflict between my printer driver or scanner driver and the Mouse is confined to the Mouse button 4 which constipates the rest of the button by turning on and off repeatedly while rolling the mouse back and forth...or if the conflict if that is the problem really affects more buttons than just the mouse button 4 where Mouse button is the most obvious sign because it starts up expose or Dashboard (which ever program is assigned to it in the mouse and keyboard settings).
If there really is any important conflicts, if they are confined to mouse button 4, should I merely turn off that button in mouse and keyboard settings in system preferences and run dashboard and the nifty widgets from the taskbar or from mouse button 3 even, and disable the crazy mouse button 4. This will only work if the conflict or whatever it is, is confined to only mouse button 4.
I don't know yet whether the constant actuation of Mouse button 4 clogs up the use of the other buttons which apparently become self-actuating with a mind of their own, or whether the possible so-called conflict if it exists and is the cause is really affecting more than one button. What supports my belief that it is a one button problem is that I substituted a logitech mouse which doesn't even have Mouse Button 4, and the problem haunting the technician and me moments before plugging in the different mouse disappeared! Before putting in the logitech and at the height of the problem the pull down file, edit, view menus dropped down by merely pointing at the label without even pressing the left button on the mighty mouse! At this point the left clicking was self-actuating!
I either need to disable mouse button 4 so it doesn't clog the USB Card port for the mouse or use another mouse.
I need to know if my theory of an overloading of the mouse is feasible? Or must I isolate the offending printer or scanner which I am presently doing by uninstalling them all if it is really even caused by one of them would need to be replaced with a compatible new peripheral. Expensive!
If my scanner or printer is incompatible which I am not sure I know how to test for which is the real cause of the problem. If you think that my theory is right-on about Mouse button 4 clogging up the rest of the buttons then it would be better to just turn it off or use another mouse or an older Apple Mouse than uninstalling each peripheral one by one and troubleshooting until next summer. Hope to hear from you guys. I really need help. Note: every aspect of my Imac purchase during these events have been replaced and replace again. I have had 3 separate apple mighty mice, 3 USB extension cable replacements, and two Imac in the time since October 12th when it started. I have called tech support until it is coming out of my ears. Now I am relying on you all. Oh, I have erased and reinstalled every operating system twice to make sure it was not a corruption in the OS in each computer.
    Sincerely,
    Stephen Borisoff

    James,
Sorry I am so lengthy. The problem is that with the technical support guy on line, when the Mouse button 4 event occurred I described to the tech that I was pushing and pulling the mouse from the back end to avoid touching the buttons on the side and every time I rolled the mouse a few inches forward the dashboard assigned to mouse button 4 appeared and next when I rolled it back the dashboard disappeared, I rolled it forward and it reappeared and so on. Then the tech wanted me to click on the apple and go into system preferences and as my cursor touched the file menu to get to the preferences that menu dropped without me left clicking the mouse. As I passed over edit and view they just dropped down.
What do you make of that? I am presently running OSX leopard without my printer and scanner installed. If I see no problem in two days, I will plug in the printer and install it. Then after that the scanner and see if the problem happens. I will follow your suggestions about relearning the mouse though.

  • Problem- Releasing Mouse Button

    Hi all.
I must traslate 3d object in my application.
But I have a problem when i release the mouse button.
If I translate my object and then I release the mouse button, my application works well.
Instead, If i move my object and, while I'm yet translating the object, i release the mouse button, my application doesn't work.
It seems that the releasing of the mouse isn't catched by the application!
About the releasing of the mouse button, I use the following statements:
evt[0].getID()==MouseEvent.MOUSE_RELEASEDwhere evt is an AWTEvent object array
Does anyone have a good solution to solve my problem?
    I apologize for my english
    Thanks very much in advance.

Set a flag someplace from your mouse event that says you have had the mouse released so when you are done with your translation, then you can check and see if you still have the mouse down.
in your mouse up event do something like...
    myGlobalMouseUP = true;
and then check the flag before each time you want to translate your object.

  • How do I detect if the mouse button is down, outside of the applet?

    Using
    X = MouseInfo.getPointerInfo().getLocation().x;
Y = MouseInfo.getPointerInfo().getLocation().y;I can detect the mouse location anywhere on the entire screen, but after an extensive search on Google I cannot find any way to detect whether a mouse button is being pressed.
The class I am using is threaded, so I want to check each time to see if a mouse button is down (a simple true or false would be perfect).

One website says to use the Control.MouseButtons property in Windows, is that possible to do in Java?I would pretty much forget about it, especially if you start to talk about "in OSWhatever it is done like this" - that makes it platform dependent and you can forget about platform specific stuff in the Java language itself - the only way to get something like that done is through a native library that you invoke using Java, using either JNI or JNA.
