Probleme fusible pxi 1042

Resetting the AC Mains Circuit Breaker
If the PXI-1045 is connected to an AC source and encounters an
over-current condition, the circuit breaker on the rear panel will trip to
prevent damage to the chassis. Complete the following steps to reset the
circuit breaker.
1. Set the front-panel power switch to the Off (nonrecessed) position.
2. Disconnect the AC power cable.
3. Depress the circuit breaker to reset it.
4. Reconnect the AC power cable.
5. Set the power switch to the On (recessed) position.
If the circuit breaker trips again, complete the following steps.
1. Press the front-panel power switch to the Off (nonrecessed) position.
2. Disconnect the AC power cable.
3. Remove all modules from the chassis.
4. Complete the procedure described in the Connecting to Power Source
section of Chapter 2, Installation and Configuration. If the power
switch LED is not a steady green, contact National Instruments.
5. Verify that the PXI-1045 can meet the power requirements of your
CompactPCI or PXI modules. Overloading the chassis can cause the
breaker to trip. Refer to Appendix A, Specifications.
6. The over-current condition that caused the circuit breaker to trip may
be due to a faulty CompactPCI or PXI module. Refer to the
documentation supplied with the modules for troubleshooting

  • Configurate a PXI-1042 RT Chassis in a network thru MAX

    Hello,
    Iam having two NI PXI-chassis.
The first one is a PXI-1031 4Slot chassis, runs under Windows XP and has the NI-5670 RF Vector Signal Generator (RFSG) installed.
The second Chassis is a PXI-1042 8 Slot Chassis that runs under LabView 7.1 RealTime and has a PXI-6602 Timing IO installed.
Both system has been deliverd by NI with the factory intallation services, so there shouldn´t be any problem with the installation and when powering each system up they seams to work fine.
    And now to my problem:
Starting the Mesurement & Automation Explorer(MAX) under Windows (on the first Chassis) I can the see the installed RFSG, I connect both chassis thru a twisted pair cable -- I can see the secound chassis as well. So far so good, I was giving the second chassis (RT-enviroment) the IP address 000.000.000.001. But when clicking into it and the doubleclicking on devices and interfaces I can´t see the istalled PXI-6602 Timing IO card, how can I change that?
I tried to create a new object under devices and intefaces, but I can´t find a predefined PXI-6602. Wherer is the misstake.
    in the hope of help
    bye

    Hello,
normally you should do the following. Connect both chassis. Controller with RT should be reset (at first time), then it will get IP Adress 0.0.0.0. You should change IP Adress, restart system and then install software on RT-System by rightclick in MAX to Software and choose install Software. After it your 6602 should be found.
    Hope this helps,

  • PXI-1042 Chassis power switch LED is steady red

When attempting to turn on the PXI-1042 Chassis, the power switch LED turns steady green for ~2 seconds, and then turns steady red and remains in this state.  All modules were removed (PXI-8330, PXI-6704, PXI-5411, LeCroy PXD 1021 digitizer) with the AC plug removed, and when powering up the chassis again with the AC plug re-inserted, the LED went through the same process, remaining at steady red.  This issue arose after our building underwent a power outage, and during this outage the chassis was in standby mode, the AC power plug was still attached to the chassis, but the power to the surge protector (to which the other end of the AC power plug was attached) was turned off.  To my knowledge, there were no surges when power to the building was restored.  Does anyone know what could be causing this problem (possible power surge?), and can it be remedied/repaired?  Thanks.

Thanks for the advice.  I contacted NI but they were unable to offer a cheap replacement fan, nor is our part still under warranty, but I was able to get in touch with the fan manufacturer to get the identical one (Mechatronics P/N: E9225X12B1FSR).  It actually runs on 12 VDC and has a tachometer output, which I'm assuming the chassis reads to determine whether or not to power up all of the attached devices.

  • Pxi 1042 configuration for Real-Time

    I have purchased
    PXI-1042
    controller 8187
    one module for data capturing.
I want to configure the said pxi for Real-Time purposes,
so what steps should I follow?
    thanks

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The Real-Time Deployment License is different from the LabVIEW RT module.
When you purchase a PXI controller, part of what you are buying is the operating system that is installed on it.  If you purchased the controller with Windows on it then you purchased the copy of Windows that came with it.  Now that you want to put the real-time operating system on it, you need to purchase the license for it.
    But that's all legal stuff.
And you are correct that there is a copy of the RTOS on the controller.  But if your controller has its disk formatted as NTFS you will not be able to use it.   The RTOS requires that the hard drive be FAT32.
If your controller is FAT32 then you can boot into BIOS (hit delete while booting), and select Real-Time in the Boot Configuration to make your controller boot into Real-Time.
If you controller is not FAT32 then you will need to format the controller first, using the disks I have previously mentioned.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

  • Can I change two DC fans in PXI-1042 chasis?

Can I change two DC fans ( Mechatronics E9225X)in PXI-1042 chasis?
It is too noisy in a quiet environment.
Could you reveal what kind of DC fans were adopted in the PXI-1042Q chasis?

    Hello
This is a great question and I’m regretful to mention that we cannot release this information. The PXI-1042Q has much more than different fans. There is an elaborate scheme of sensors. With the two different systems there is a vast amount of temperature requirements and sensors to control the fans. This conversion could be harmful to your system and not an issue National Instruments can support.

  • Communicating with modules in PXI-1042 via MXI-3 interface, all I get is PXI0::MEMACC appearing in MAX. I have OEM modules in the chassis, should these be displayed?

I have a PXI-1042 with PXI-MXI-3 interface kit. In the chassis I have inserted an OEM PXI module. When I run MAX, all I see is PXI System->PXI Bus 0->PXI0::MEMACC. Is this correct? How do I see the other modules?

    Darren,
The only PXI modules that show up under the PXI System option in MAX are those cards that are registered with NI-PAL or NI-VISA. For 3rd party cards, it depends on how their particular driver functions. If the vendor creates their drivers based on NI-VISA, then the device will show up in MAX.
If the vendor created a Windows-specific driver, then there is no way that NI-VISA can find any information on the device, nor can it communicate with it. An example of this is a CompactPCI SCSI or Ethernet card, which is supported by a driver that is native to Windows. NI-VISA does not detect such devices.
It is important that you contact the manufacturer of your 3rd party modules and find out if they are NI-VISA complient devices.

  • NI PXI 1042

Hello!I have a NI PXI 1042 chassis.I want to make a voltage diagnose via serial port in the back of the chassis. Can I use Adlink chassis remote mon. application and as a cable to use serial to usb (Wenglor AB-USB01) converter?Do you know this Adlink application is compatible to NI PXI 1042 chassis? Also this cable I use it's ok, or I must have necessary RS-232 port on my laptop and use only standard RS232 cable?

You really should read the manual (NI PXI-1042 Series User Manual).  That is NOT a serial port.  It is a connector that will allow you to measure the backplane voltages and apply a power supply inhibit (ie remotely turn off the chassis) using a relay.

  • NI PXI-1042 controller.ini file

    Hi,
My PXI-1042 system just came in and now I am configuring the controller. A NI PXI-8361.
But in my MAX I can not find the controller.ini files. Where should I look when browsing for it ?
Same goes for the chassis but my guess is that the chassis three will become available when I found the controller.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Stieve
Just in the case you didn't yet found out, as your post is already quite old.
The PXI-8361 is a MXI controller using an external PC. Therefore in MAX, you have to identify is as 'External PC' and not an actual controller. Once this is selected, you should also get access to the proper chassis setup.

  • How to connect to PXI 1042 chassis from PC

I bought PXI 1042 with two RF switches and now I am trying to connect from my PC in order to manage it.
I am not shure, that I have connection with my PXI 1042, how can I verify connection?
PXI 1042 has two RF switches in slots 2,3 and I cann't see them from Measurement & Automation Explorer.
    Could you help me?

  • I am trying to route the trigger input on a PXI-8105 that I have in a PXI-1042 chasssis to the PXI backplane.

I have several modules in a PXI-1042 chassis that I am tring to route the same trigger to [on the PXI-Trig0 line].  I am using the VISA Map Trigger VI, but I cannot seem to get it to work without error.  I am trying to use the front panel trigger from the PXI-8501 module [resource name PXI11::13::INSTR] as the souce and the PXI-Trig0 as the destination.
Since the VISA Map Trigger does not accept VISA sessions of class INSTR, how do you map a trigger from an instrument to the backplane?
    Thanks.

  • I have a CD-ROM with file chassis.sys for my PXI-1042 chassis. What do I do with it?

I have a CD-ROM with file chassis.sys that came with the PXI-1042. How is that file used/installed?

    Hi,
The "chassis.ini" file contains information which is used to generate a "pxisys.ini" file, which describes a unique combination of PXI chassis and controller. If you are using a National Instruments PXI controller, you will not need to use this "chassis.ini" file, because our Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) configuration software already contains the necessary information embedded. Instead, you simply need to setup your configuration in MAX.

  • Image a Windows 2003 Server on a PXI - 1042 with a 8108 controller

    Hi,
I have installed Windows 2003 Server on a PXI - 1042 with a 8108 controller. When I try to take an image of this it fails and I have to remove the hard drive. Then I have to hook it up to a SATA interface and use Ghost 11.5 to image the hard drive.
Is there a easier way to do this with the Acronis software?
    Thanks,
    John P

    Hello John,
When you fail taking an image, are you using Ghost or Acronis?
If it is Acronis you are using, are you using the version that comes on the controller, or are you using the upgraded version, Acronis True Image Home 2009? If you would like to replace the image that is present on the NI PXI controller you will need to use  Acronis® True Image Home 2009 which is available from Acronis.
Note: If you would like to create a locked factory controlled partition on your PXI controller as National Instruments provides, the Acronis® True Image Home 2009 will allow you to do this. This additional functionality would then be supported by Acronis and not National Instruments.
This version should allow you to successfully take an image of Windows 2003.
    Thanks,
    Ryan F.

  • Problems with PXI after motherboard replacement

    Hello,
    My PXI system consists
of PXI-1045, PXI-8360 and five NI
    PXI intruments (5152, 4065, 6552, 2532, 5404). I was working with this
system without problems for a long time. However, the motherboard of my
PC had a specific problem with the ethernet connenction and I decided to
replace the motherboard with a new one (same model). After the
replacement (the pc finally was fully functional), I tried to power on
the PXI chassis, but  I couldn't "see" any module in PXI chassism, using
the MAX. I must tell thatI didn't change the hard disk of the
pc, or anything else just the motherboard. After some experiments, I
finally fix the probrem with the following solution: First I unplugged
all the modules from PXI chassis. After that, I plugged one module and I
reboot the pc. After that I plugged the second one module and I reboot
    the pc. And so on...
    This was the only solution
that I found in order to indentify all the modules of the PXI chassis.
My question is why happend this
thing? Where are the PXI modules' adresses stored? Also, is the
procedure I used correct, or I had to do something else in order to make
    the system work?

    Hello,
Im glad that your system is up and running, ideally that behavior should not have occured. For future troubleshooting, also check Windows Device Manager to see if your devices show up if MAX does not detect them (Windows may have initially failed to detect the hardware). In a PXI system, the pxisys.ini file provides mappings from PCI logical addresses (PCI bus, device, and function numbers) to corresponding PXI slot numbers, allowing device driver software to identify the slot of a PXI module. There is a unique pxisys.ini file for every combination of PXI chassis and controller. See the link provided below for additional information regarding how to configure PXI systems in MAX.
