  • IPad 3 iTunes Match question

I'm just setting up my new iPad from scratch. Subscribed to iTunes Match on Mac. iPad keeps saying I don't have subscription.
But - Mac appleID and iPad appleID are two different usernames/passwords. iPad has my username as my me.com mail address. Mac has a different personal email as my username.
Is this the cause of the problem? If so, which one should I change?
    Thanks for any help

Yes this is exactly the cause of the problem. iTunes Match will only work when using the same Apple ID, you have used to buy iTunes Match on your Mac. So you will have to change your Apple ID on your iPad under Settings>Store. Now you should be able to activate iTunes Match under Settings>Music. Hope this helps.

  • I have just set up Itunes match on my new iMac. It is saying I can access all my 9000 songs but only the playlist tab is live. Am I missing something?

    Hi
I have just set up itunes match on my new imac. It is saying I can access all my 9000 songs but only the playlist tab is live - I can't access albums or songs. Am I missing something?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I do not understand your problem. iTunes Match does not change the way iTunes looks. When match process is complete, the match screen tells you how much music you have in the cloud.
Across the top of screen you have options to select songs, albums, artist, composers etc.
Suggest that from main menu, select view>show sidebar.

  • ITunes match grays out songs

I have had iTunes Match for about two weeks and still have not managed to get it to work properly. I have been on these forums searching for the answer, as well as other websites, and absolutely cannot figure out what the problem is. It's very frustrating because this program was supposed to make things simpler, not more difficult. Please, if you can help, leave a suggestion for me here.
    Here is the situation:
    - iTunes Match has successfully put about 8000 songs in the iCloud and those work well on all devices.
    - BUT it is missing about 2000 songs, which are either ineligable (which that part is okay and I understand), or are grayed out. These grayed out songs cannot be played, uploaded, downloaded, or anything. I have no idea why this is happening, but it has stopped a significant portion of my music library from being accessible. Anywhere. These grayed out songs are gray on all devices.
    - iTunes Match also deleted many songs from the playlists that it was supposed to be saving. I do have a backup (I am pretty sure...) of my iTunes library before doing iTunes Match, so if I have to I can hopefully recover the lost songs that way. I think they are still in my library and have just been removed from my playlists, but I don't know if they are the grayed out songs or the okay songs.
Since having these problems, iTunes Match has been turned off on every device except the main desktop iMac that the actual song files are on. I am wondering if the problem may have occurred when I first set it up, as my family got excited and we tried to start every device on Match at the same time. If that isn't the problem then I have no idea. Either way, I don't know how to solve it.
In trying to trouble shoot, I have done just about everything that I or the Internet could think of. Please feel free to leave a suggestion. Anything may help, it's just that nothing has yet. Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
No you can't decide what tracks go into cloud. If the track is eligible. it will either be matched or uploaded. However, you can work around this by changing the media type to something other than music e.g. Podcast or Audiobook. Both are ineligible for match. You can't change media type when match is on.
Another option is to open an new library and then turn on match. You will see all the music you have in the cloud. You can delete tracks from the cloud and when you go back to the original library, the tracks will still be there but the iCloud status will be shown as "Remove". This essentially will now be a local file and match will ignore for future scans.

  • PLEASE HELP -- iTunes Match - multiple problems, desktop and iOS

I've been going round and around with this issue for the past couple days (yes, I've been dedicating that much time to it) and finally went to the Genius Bar today to get help and even they were stumped.  Hoping someone here can shed some light on the situation. Next stop, express lane for support.
    Broad Problem:
I paid for iTunes Match around 6 months ago and activated it on my desktop.     Since then, I've had nothing but problems across my desktop and 4 seperate iOS devices (3 iPhone 4's, and an iPad 3).  The basic sympton on the desktop is that iTunes itself frequently freezes (Option-Command-Esc reveals "Application Not Responding") and requires a force quit.   As soon as I turn OFF iTunes Match, this symptom goes away. I can leave iTunes open for hours without any problems.  As soon as I turn it back ON, then the problem comes back -- sometimes iTunes won't launch at all (crashes before bringing the UI up), and other times it's the same freeze that requires a force-quite.  Quite frustrating.
On the iOS side of things, the situation isn't any better.   When I toggle on iTunes Match and then enable "Show All Music" in the Preferences of the iPhone, then I get any one of the two following scenarios:
    A) The Music App simply won't load.  It tries, goes to white, and crashes back to the home screen of my iPhone.
    B) If I'm lucky, the Music app will launch and I can see my entire library in the cloud as intended.  The problems start though when I go to actually download/play songs from the cloud.  Typically, the songs will start playing but I will eventually get an error message that alerts me that there was "Problem Downloading Track".  When I then go into the Download Que of the iTunes Store (again, still on the iPhone), it shows the entire list of songs that I had wanted to download and shows them at various stages of download completion -- even if they have actually completely played on the phone itself.   Sometimes they will time out and display the "problem downloading track/try again" status, and other times the progress bar sits at about 99% with a status of "Processing".
What's particularly strange about scenario B is that I've tried to download a variety of songs to different devices -- my wifes iPhone 4, my iPhone 4, an iPad, and a iPhone 4S that the person at the Genius Bar had me use as a tester.   When I tried the iPhone 4S at the genius bar, I was amazed at how fast it downloaded to the device.  This had the genius bar guy wondering if it was a problem with my phone itself or with the iPhone 4 in particular.   Unfortunately he didn't have a spare iPhone 4 to test with so I had to go home and test with my wife's iPhone 4.  Again, she had the same problem.   The status bar hangs at about 99% showing a status of "processing", even though I have completely listened to the track within the Music App.  The same scenario happens on the iPad as well.
Okay, if you're with me so far:  here's where things start to get REALLY strange....
On MY iPhone 4, when I run into problem A or B, the only fixable solution for me has been to go into Preferences and toggle OFF iTunes Match, completely shut down the phone, restart the phone, and then launch the Music App, at which point I can see the music that has loaded to my phone.    The kicker here is that even though I've turned iTunes Match OFF and completely powered down my phone, when I go into the Music app I can ALSO see my ENTIRE iTunes Match library, completely with cloud status icons.   It's as though I never turned off iTunes Match at all.  In fact, I had to triple check my own preferences to verify that it was turned OFF, which it sure enough is.   I can even go and attempt to download songs, with various levels of success based on the problems above.
Now, on my WIFE's iPhone 4, when I run into problem A or B, I tried the same process in tandem with the phones side by side as I did the test -- turn iTunes Match OFF in Preferences, power down the phone, power up the phone, and launch the Music app.    However, on her phone, when this happens the Music App shows what is to be expected -- only the music that is on the phone itself.
Okay, there's a lot to digest here, but here's the synopsis:  my phone and my wifes phones are behaving differently when displaying iTunes Match, with my phone appearing to completely disregard the status of the On/Off Toggle within Preferences-->Music, and my wifes phone behaving as it should, at least in terms of what it displays.   The download problems are present on each device and the iPad is also behaving like my wifes phone.
Given all of these inconsistencies and irregularities across devices and platforms -- MacBook Pro running Lion, separate iPhone 4's each running iOS 5.1.1, an iPad running iOS 5.1.1. and an iPhone 4S running iOS 5.1.1 - my suspicion is that:
    A) I've got a corrupt iTunes library file residing in the cloud
    or
    B) iTunes Match is having a hard time reconciling my Apple ID across so many devices (possibly complicated by issue A)
The bottom line is that I have paid for iTunes Match and have never been able to use it successfully or with any predictability.
I'm wondering if anyone else has any symptoms that match any of this and/or have come across a corrupted file in the cloud and, if so, how to remedy the situation.  Since it's in the cloud, I can't do anything about.  I can't even see it.  Most troubling.
    Note:
When I went to the Genius Bar, they had me do a complete restore of the phone (not from backup) to elminate any corrupt files within the phone itself.  Even that didn't solve the problem.   That's when he brought out the 4S phone to test on and we were both so shocked at how blazingly fast the songs downloaded, error-free.  That phone was able to download 8 songs completely before one song downloaded to my phone sitting right next to it.  Both on the same Apple Store network and both downloading the exact same tracks using my Apple ID and login.   While it's tempting to say that the 4S is faster than the 4, I don't think it's 8 times faster with download speeds over WiFi.   However, even if the speed/completion discrepancy is because the 4S is superior, it doesn't explain the mind-boggling disparity between my wife's phone and my phone -- both iPhone 4's and both running the same iOS.   Throw in the oddity of iTunes on Lion crashing whenever iTunes Match is on and this all seems to point to some corruption in the cloud that perhaps the 4S device is able to bypass...for whatever reason.
    Please help.  This is nuts.

Exactly same problem - any ideas - I get error message 14

  • HT204406 Since updating to ios6 on my iPhone 4S iTunes Match has not worked. The app stays open for about five seconds before crashing. With ios5 it was great and worth paying for. Now it is utterly useless. Apple, please listen and fix this problem.

Ever since I updated to ios 6 on my iPhone 4S, iTunes Match has not worked.
I have been through the process of deleting my iTunes control files, and that worked temporarily, but now I cannot listen to music through the service.
It shows my artists and albums, then takes forever to access the songs (often more than 10 minutes - and yes, that's using WiFi), more often than not crashing before it gets to that point, then repeatedly crashing when I try to open the Music App, so I can't even access things I've downloaded.
Has anyone else found a solution?
Apple, please listen up - I am paying you for the iTunes Match service that is utterly useless. Fix it please.

After some troubleshooting, I decided to order a new battery.  I replaced the battery and was then able to get it to restore, however--after I restore it and it comes time to restart the phone, it gets stuck and doesn't turn on.
Sorry, your repair ruined the iPhone.
She does not have apple care and even though she loved this device, she isn't going to buy another iPhone because of all the problems shes had with this one (it's just over a year old).
After you ruined the iPhone with DIY, Apple won't touch it anymore. You should have asked before all these had happened.
I'm an android user myself and I love rooting/flashing new ROMS, so if jailbreaking her phone or doing some kind of super-restore with 3rd party programs might help, I'm all for it-
Yeah, all Android user can think of is Jailbreaking, read this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3743

I just got a new macbook pro. How do I get the 900+  songs that I took off of cds into iTunes on my computer from my iPhone. I had no problems syncing the music I had purchased from iTunes. I have tried to sync it using iTunes match, this did not work. I would like to have access to my full library without going into the user profile of my old computer, which is on my new computers hard drive. I would like to eventually delete the old profile so that I have more space on my hard drive.

  • I've just signed up to iTunes Match as I have songs on my iPhone 4 which wont sync with iTunes as they are from CDs but I can't see my music in the cloud now. Anyone had the same problem and have an easy fix?

I've just signed up to iTunes Match as I have songs on my iPhone 4 which wont sync with iTunes as they are from CDs but I can't see my music in the cloud now. Anyone had the same problem and have an easy fix?

    What fixed it for me:
On your computer, open iTunes > My iPhone (or whatever name you gave your iPhone) > "Music" page
    Uncheck "Sync Music"
    Click "Sync" button (bottom right)
    Let it run and finish
Uncheck the box for every song, playlist, etc.
Click "Sync" button (bottom right) (This step may be unnecessary, but I did it and got the result I wanted.)
    Let it run and finish
Check the boxes for the music you want on your iPhone
    Click "Sync" button (bottom right)
    Let it run and finish
See if that doesn't work for you.  I tried a lot of things that did nothing, but this seems to have fixed it, and quickly.

  • I have a problem with iTunes Match...

...and not like an 'oh man, this bolt's too big for this hole' problem, more of a 'hey man, if you don't stop doing that then you and me gona have a problem' problem.
For starters, I found that enabling the iTunes Match service means that I can't manually synch any files or playlists to my device.  So when I travel to an area without wifi or phone signal, which happens more than Apple obviously thinks, I can't listen to any of my music. Whose bright idea was that??!
Secondly, when I do enable iTunes Match, I often find that changes I make on my computer (shuffling the order of songs on playlists, adding new files to my library etc.) don't always correlate with the Match service, for instance I made a playlist on my computer but it doesn't appear on my phone, or I set a playlist on iTunes to order itself by the date the files were added, but on my phone they appear in whatever order they **** well please.  It unfortunately doesn't 'just work'.
And thirdly, although this isn't really connected to the Match service but rather just a chance for me to vent as I'm already doing it, when I heard they were bringing 'wifi synching' to iOS I was really excited. Then I found out it would only synch while your iDevices were plugged in and charging.  THEN I found out that every time I plugged my phone in it would automatically try to synch, waking up my laptop if it wasn't already awake. So every night I would plug my phone in by my bed, turn over to go to sleep, then have to get up 20 seconds later to re-sleep my machine; this could happen at random points during the night.
I'm not expecting Apple to change their products over the dissatisfaction of one disgruntled user, I'm just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same problems and has found any ways around them.  Also I must say as annoying as certain aspects of iTunes Match are, it's still a fantastic service (in theory...).

I hope they manage to fix the playlists issue, hopefully by the next couple of updates.  I figured the syncing/waking thing would be what it was meant to do.  I wonder if there's a command line or something I can tweak in settings to stop my Mac waking on LAN/Bluetooth etc....
In System Prefs > Energy Saver > Power Adapter unselect the option for "wake for network access." Although this may have the effect of preventing wireless syncing. I'm not sure.
    peanutismint wrote:
The downloading of songs is pretty much useless as a feature in my situation, as by the time you're out of signal and can't stream music, neither can you download it (and if I were expected to download it first in case of signal loss then doesn't that negate the need for a streaming music service anyway?!)
iTunes Match doesn't stream to iOS devices, all songs are downloaded. If you have not done so, you can enable "use cellular data" to download music by going to Settings > Store and setting the option to ON. To answer your question, though, yes, pre-downloading of tracks is the "best practice" for using an iDevice with iTunes Match enabled.

  • HT4623 Im having problems with my music ever since I got the ITunes Match, now I'm not able to listen to some songs and my ipod doesn't want to update the iOS saying something about my network and I'm hooked up to the internet?

I was just have difficults in different things on my ipod touch 4th gene now that I have ITune Match and it not being able to update the iOS 6.1.5 and as to not sure of what I can do to get it to update and get all my songs back. Because right now I have at least 20 or 30 songs that I cant play now and I'm not sure why. I'm not even able to click on the songs and I wanted to see if there was a way to fix this without restore my ipod and starting over.

    Maybe this:
    Update Server
    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem

  • Can't download music - seems to be an iTunes Match problem

I have iTunes Match activated, which is working fine on my iPad and iPhone.  However I cannot download purchased music onto the iMac.
In my household there is a shared iMac and each user has a different login & password.  Only I know my login password.  I have been using iTunes successfully on it for years, and have been using iTunes successfully for about 6 months now.  Auto-download has been disabled for several months now because I don't want everything downloaded automatically.  All has been fine until about a fortnight ago when the iMac stopped downloading newly purchased music whenever I clicked the little iCloud icon.  This is for music that I have successfully purchased and downloaded on my iPhone whilst at work, and now want to listen to at home.  Whenever I click the iCloud icon to download the new song I get an error message telling me that the computer is already associated with an Apple ID, and I have to wait 54 days etc to sign in with a new Apple ID.  However I'm certain no other Apple ID has been used with my account - when I go to the Store menu it is showing my current and correct Apple ID.
The most telling proof that my Apple ID is correct on both iMac and iPhone (and iPad as well) is that when I plug the iPhone into the iMac, the new music syncs across EXACTLY as it should - and it can then be played without problems.  Both the phone and the computer are correctly logged in to the same Apple ID, which is the same Apple ID that I use for iTunes Match.  Also when I click Store -> Update iTunes Match there appears to be no Apple ID conflict.
Obviously this is an iTunes Match problem which I cannot resolve, can someone please provide assistance / advice.
(iPhone 4 with iOS 6, iMac mid 2010 with Mountain Lion 10.8.2, single Apple ID for iTunes Store, iTunes Match and iCloud).

  • I am a PC user using 3 PCs w/ iTunes Match. 2 of my PCs sync fine, but my new PC (used to remove duplicates, cover art, update playlists) does not sync with Match. Whats the problem?

So, to begin I own 3 PCs and the latest iPad/iPhone running iTunes on all 3 PCs. For simplicity, I will refer to the PCs as old, laptop, and new.
My laptop was my primary PC which i used to set up iTunes match. The old PC had all of my music files which have appeared to have been uploaded to Match. Note that I had already transferred most (if not all) of the music to my laptop but I enabled match so that I could download new files to my old PC. Note that I did quite a bit of cleaning, retagging, and ordering files and that I was told by Apple that Match would recognize duplicates, and as such, would not upload these files to the cloud in Match (this does not appear to be the case, however). My laptop PC (originally set up on Match) indicates there are alot of files in the clould (Match) to download. These seem to be duplicate files which were already cleaned on the Laptop and were uploaded on the old PC machine. Thus, it appears that Apples matching alogorythm is not strong enough to detect minor differences (i.e. cover art) in files and decides to upload them anyway (quite annonying if you ask me).
Now, to my problem; I purchased a new PC and have been removing the last duplicate songs, updating cover-art, playlists, among other things. My new PC (which I will refer to as "new") is not recognized by iTunes Match. I have tried uninstalling each app associated with iTunes, starting fresh with a new playlist and library to no avail.
Has anyone else had this problem? Apple Care does not seem to have much knowledge about Match, which is a bit frustrating. All I wish to do is tell Match that my New PC should be the primary PC which will be used to deliver playlists, music, etc since the other 2 machines have many duplicates and the playlists have errors within them. I thought about these solutions (none of which are no appealing) 1) using the laptop as my primary iTunes Match PC since this was the PC Match was created on (this would require rebuilding playlists and removing a massive amount of duplicates, again), 2) creating a new iTunes Match account based on my New PC (basically starting over), 3) forgetting Match all together and going back to the old school store & sync.
Anyone have better ideas or experiencing similar issues? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thx!

After going by elimination to isolate if the problem was from (1) iTunes app, (2) my computer or (3) my old iPhone 4G, I figured out what my problem was.
    1) First I deleted & reinstalled iTunes on my Windows PC without succes, my playlist did not changed on my iPhone.
    2) I tested a successful #sync from the iMac at work.
So my conclusion is: The hard drive on my Windows PC is full and that is affecting iTunes SYNC functionalities.
So I'll do a back-up then run a "Clean Install" of my Windows OS, hoping that it will fix my SYNC problems.
