Problems accessing iTunes store with Mac OSX 10.4.11

I am trying to access the iTunes store using Mac OSX 10.4.11 but it tells me to download the new version of iTunes. When I try to do that it says that the new version of iTunes is not supported by 10.4.11. What am I doing wrong? Do I actually need to buy the upgrade from 10.4.11 in order to buy stuff from iTunes again.

FIrst nite with ATV2, it suddenly stopped working, didnt recognize my password, and ultimately i had to change my password. Then went to bed and tried again this morning. It worked.
Second nite with ATV2, we rented a movie. 2/3 of way through movie, the loading circle appeared. cannot access the movie, though it recognizes that we have 22 hrs left on the movie. cannot access other itunes content.

are you guys watching TV late at night. I've noticed that the shows stop working at around 11 to 11.30 pm pacific time. I suppose that iTunes updates their catalogue to include the latest shows that are new and cleared for sale after the night's TV schedule. I think it's poor iTunes judgement to do that. Most people watch TV at night. They should update their catalogue some time in the morning hours.
I usually just unplug my apple TV, restart and then wait for a while to make it work.
If you guys get stuck because you put the show on pause then the remedy is to turn the screen saver off. Switch it to never because then when you pause and iTunes server goes out you don't have to re-authorize the show to continue watching it. That's if you purchased and the show was sownloaded to your apple TV

i have same issue. netflix is fine. Itunes on an appletv is slow and then times out.. cant connect to server. Is the server, or a pipe, just overloaded?

Problems Accessing iTunes Store

Hi,
This is the second Friday in a row that I've had problems accessing the iTunes store to rent or buy movies from my aTV.
I can browse and view movie details OK but when I click OK to rent or buy a movie I get the twirling "in progress" thingy with the message "Accessing iTunes Store" but it never gets any further.
Is anybody else having problems?

Same problem for me, and it didn't happen until I updated to iTunes 8. I've had tons of problems since then, I hope Apple does something about it, they must be aware of the issues, and they're being very slow to resolve it.
I'm getting the forever "Accessing iTunes Store" message with the spinning thing. Nothing ever happens. I have rebooted, but I agree with the comment that it's a very frustrating way to buy or rent a movie.

I have a new Hewlett Packard laptop which runs on Vista. I can load itunes but when I try to access itunes store from itunes I get the following error message:
itunes cannot connect to the itunes store, make sure your network connection is active and try again. There are no problems with my network connection, can any one advise?

ITunes crashes while accessing iTunes Store with a intel video driver

I have a DELL laptop running Windows 8.1 with i7 4500U at 1.8G, 8G ram, 1TB hard disk, NVidia GT750M, iTunes is working fine at downloading or updating apps but crashes while I trying to accessing iTunes Store, no matter I choose run with intel integrated video card or Nvidia video card.
I wonder if this is happened because of Win 8.1 incompatibility or intel video driver, the driver is up to date and if I try an older driver, iTunes won't start at all.
The same thing happens with Adobe Photoshop CC 64bit, it just get freezed but get an error message said intel driver is crashed and auto recovered.
a message is shown if I run iTunes with intel video card by default when i access itunes store, but itunes quit if I try nvidia video card, without any error message.

I'd like to add some more details to my question.
I don't know if this happens at Win8 since I updated to Win 8.1 right after I purchased my laptop, all Win patches are up to date and also iTunes, I am running Win 8.1 64bit Pro version.
I tryed to reinstall iTunes, install quicktime or reinstall quicktime, also tryed to use microsoft kb 2639417, but it does not support win 8.1.

Suddenly, my 1st gen can't access iTunes store. It sits on "Accessing iTunes Store", with a spinning wheel for days. I can access the store from my iMac, but not the Apple TV. Everything is up to date. What's the deal?

I can't figure out why my 1st gen appletv cannot access the itunes store. All newer movies are coming up to view and I can watch previews, but when I go to rent, it stays on the spinning wheel with the Accessing iTunes Store forever. Read a bunch of posts from 2008 and 2010. The only step I found that I hadn't tried was the ol' plug pull. After that, I got the first movie I tried renting. ??? At least it works now.

Weird. Starting this week, I can only access the iTunes store in the mornings (before I go to work). If I try in the evenings I get the message 'Network Connection timed out - try again later'. No matter how often you try rebooting & reloading you get the same message. I've been using the store for years without a problem. No new software has been installed. I have reinstalled itunes & Quicktime to try and overcome the problem. I can access on my work computer without a problem. What's happening????

If it works sometimes and not others with no changes being made on your end, either to your computer or your Internet connection, then I'd suspect a problem with your ISP. You may want to talk to them about the problem.

Problems accessing iTunes Store on a Windows Vista PC

I'm connected to the internet on my PC and I can get to any website I want to. I just downloaded the latest version of iTunes through Firefox. But every time I try to connect to the iTunes Store within the application I continue to get a message iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. The netwokr connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again. I do not have the Windows Firewall turned on and I'm using Webroot for virus protection and I have turned off it's firewall but it as not changed anything for me.

When I attempt to access the itunes store from iTunes 10.4.1.10 (64-bit) the "one moment please. Connecting to the Itunes store..." dialog box seems to sit there forever before coming back with the following error message “We could not complete your ITunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-50). There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later.” I’ve tried many times and have also tried uninstalling all Apple software and reinstalling. I can't access the iTunes Store to browse and purchase music, etc. I have an OS X 10.4.11 operating system and iTunes 8.0.2 on my computer. Click on the AppStore application on iPhone. Click FEATURED. Scroll to the bottom of the screen. Click on your AppleID. In the Menu sign out then sign back in.
If this doesnt work, repeat the above; when you get to the menu after clicking on your appleID in the app store click, VIEW APPLE ID. Once you do that you should be able to change the store in the country/region settings.
