Problems Activating IPhone 5s (Virgin Mobile)

Problems Activating IPhone 5S (Virgin Mobile)
On January 13, 2014 - I recieved my Brand New IPhone 5S
Almost One Week Later I attempted to Swap Virgin Mobile Phones (Keeping my Cell Phone Number)
When I had attempted to do my Swap from a Kyocera Rise to IPhone 5S - It gave me a error message saying that my UCCID number doesn't match my Serial Number. I called Virgin Mobile Costumer Service to see if they can activate my phone.
How should I resolve my issue?

If you made these purchases through Virgin Mobile, you need to deal with them about this issue. It seems their network is not recognizing something about your account.

Return it and get your money back. Virgin does not offer official unlocking, thus there's no way to get the phone officially unlocked for you to use it.
Sorry, but you wasted your money.

  • Iphone 4s (Virgin Mobile) to T-mobile

    Hey guys!
Thanks in advance for looking into this question. There is a lot of misleading information in every place I search for, so I figured down the line this thread might help more people than even myself, so here is the issue:
I was a Virgin Mobile customer until I purchased an iPhone 6 from which then I moved over to T-mobile, no problems so far and loving it. However, I gave my previous phone (iPhone 4s) to my spouse who I have on my new T-mobile plan (Virgin Mobile only does individual plans, so I had to manage two separate plans with them). Given that the iPhone 4s from VM uses CDMA, it has been a hassle to try and get it to work for T-mobile. T-mobile reps said the phone was locked. Since then I have been trying to figure out how to unlock my iPhone 4s and have encountered different information from "It can't be done because it is CDMA" to "You just need to reset it" naturally I have followed the directions from those who claim it could be done but no luck thus far. Checking through VM's websites can also be misleading (e.g., you may be looking at the Australian rather than the USA website) and the rules for every country are different. In short, I am looking to know whether it is possible to get my iPhone 4s CDMA from VM unlocked to be able to use it with T-mobile. I appreciate your help and also would appreciate if you could attach a link with the information (just please don't post a link from a website whose information is for another country).
    Thanks

UPDATE: Virginia mobile does not offer unlocking services even for the phones that are purchased directly through them. They may start to include auch service starting February 2015 (note that different policies may be applicable to other countries) pretty much if you have any phone even iPhone purchases through virgin mobile, it can't be uocked unless you find a third party to do so.
thank you stevejobsfan for your answer.

I have buy iphone 4s in the japan. Can Apple help me to active it with network mobile at vietnam?
Thank you very much & Good clucky to Apple!

All iPhones sold in Japan are carrier locked. The Japanese carriers do not offer unlocking.
Buy a new phone you can use. You can not use that on on a carrier in your country.

  • Problems activating iPhone 4?

Just out of curiosity, for those of you that seem to be having problems activating your new iPhone 4 through iTunes, are you already current AT&T iPhone customers or are you activating new iPhones ?
I'm patiently waiting for my new iPhone from FedEx and I'm upgrading from an existing 3GS iPhone, so I'm wondering if I'll have an activation problem or not.
Also, if I activate and then restore from a backup of my 3GS am I going to be sorry? There are preferences etc leftover from apps that I've tried and deleted etc, so I'm wondering if I should just start fresh and sync from iTUnes new. The ***** would be entering all the dates in "Informant" (my replacement for calendar)
    Thoughts?
    TIA,
    Peter

Can tell you that I am a former upgrader (from the getgo) and was dismayed when I went to activate. Got a screen with my number and two boxes for input: zip code and last four digits of SSN. Put them in and promptly got a "AT&T session timed out...) message. Tried it probably ten more times then posted here seeking a solution.
I used to work for Apple and no matter what, the mantra is to "restart the machine" so I tried that. Presto! Activation took right away. Now syncing. I'll probably run out of space because I dropped from a 32G down to a 16G since I have the 64G iPad (and it LOVE it - can even make Skype calls so the iPhone isn't really a do or die requirement).
New iPhone looked much smaller when I took it out of the box. Heavier too for just being a 16G, still it is slim and beautiful to look at.

  • HT1937 problem activating iPhone

Hi I'm having a problem activatine my iPhone.
Keep getting a message sayin .. Could not activate iPhone. You iPhone couldnt not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailble.
This keeps appearing, anyone know any solutions?? Thank you

We're Sorry, Activation Server Temporarily Unavailable, contact Customer Care...Your request Could Not Be Completed?"
99.9% of the time, the cause of this issue is the fact the phone was jailbroken/hacked to unlock it for use on networks other than the network the phone was originally locked to. Apple maintains a database of officially unlocked iPhones, and when Apple's servers detect phones such as yours, activation stops & you get the message you got.
So, you need to get a sim card from the carrier the phone was originally locked to, or get it officially unlocked, if you want to activate it. Because it appears that it was not officially unlocked.
Apple has started to get "tough" with hacked iPhones, & simply won't permit their activation.

  • Problem activating iPhone 2G

Inserted SIM (new phone on an existing AT&T account). Phone displays the "connect to iTunes" message. Connect to pc and standard iPhone sound is made. iTunes recognizes iPhone (lists it under devices) yet "Welcome to your new iPhone" setup does not initiate. Right clicking device gives "eject" as only option.Main iTunes screen simply says "iPhone" in the middle.
Latest version of iTunes is installed. Any ideas?

    Hi wjosten,
    thanks for the reply.
I now have used a T-mobile card, but the phone seems not to recognize ist. It works like a charm in a old Nokia, so I guess, the sim card is ok.
Is it a hardware or a software problem now? What do you think?

  • Problem activating iPhone 4 on new network.

Hello, I have received an iPhone 4 from a friend who has recently upgraded, he is on vodafone and I am on Giffgaff both in the UK.
He has been in touch and been granted a factory unlock from his network for me, although when he originally retired the handset he did a full "as new" restore through iTunes. I cannot activate the phone with my sim as it's not the original carrier but therefore also cannot get beyond the activation of the handset in order to "apply" the factory unlock through iTunes.
Is there anyway around this problem or will I have to borrow/acquire a Vodafone sim to firstly activate and then update through iTunes? Or am I getting the wrong end of the stick altogether? Help much appreciated!

There is no way around. SIM is required for activation and not for a Restore. (Once unlock is approved, then only after restore, with any SIM inserted in, it can be activated. So long it is locked, you always need Vodafone SIM.)
    Hope it answers.

  • Problem activating iphone 4 after upgrading to iOS 5

I have purchased an iphone 4 which is factory unlocked in Malaysia. I upgraded the phone to IOS 5 from the US Store since I live in USA and frequently travel to Asia. After upgrading the phone it worked with both a Malaysian Sim Card and a Thai Sim Card. I then purchased an iphone 4S and am able to use it everywhere as it is also unlocked. When I erased the iphone 4 and reset it, it will not let me activate the phone with either the original sim card or any other sim cards. Why? How do I correct this problem?

Did you check your security software settings? eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.

  • Does Apple repair iphones on Virgin Mobile network?

My daughter's phone dropped out of her back pocket this morning and shattered the screen.  Since I didn't buy the phone at an Apple store, will they help me?

Apple will handle your iPhone regardless of where you purchased it. Apple does not repair iPhones, but will replace the entire iPhone for a flat fee. See the Service Pricing section here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/service/faq/
There are independent iPhone repair services that may be able to do the repair for less than Apple's out-of-warranty charge. Do a web search for "iPhone repair". Note, though, that if you elect to have the iPhone serviced by an unauthorized shop, all further warranty and support from Apple will be voided.
    Regards.

  • I am now stuck with an iphone 4 can i use it for virgin mobile?

i had sprint for a while, when i got the Iphone for sprint my service became horrid and i decided to just swich over to a different company, now the company that i have is also awful and i am considering switching over to virgin mobile and i now see that they have the IPhone. can i use my IPhone with Virgin Mobile even if it is a sprint iphone? the ESN is clean and all.

Contact Sprint to find out if they will unlock it for use on other carriers.
If they will unlock the CDMA side (unlikely), contact Virgin and ask if they will allow the device on their network, again unlikely.

No need to SHOUT. The cable is the one used to connect your iPhone to your PC. Suggest getting another one.
The problem may be that you're using USB to connect to the internet. It's too slow and will cause problems when you have other high speed USB connections. Use an Ethernet connection to your modem/router. For additional troubleshooting, see these Apple support articles:

  • Virgin Mobile unlocks iPhones for free?

I currently have an HTC phone on Virgin Mobile, which has given me pretty good service for the monthly rate. I want to upgrade to the iPhone 5s and continue to use Virgin Mobile since it has given me such good service. However, I will be moving out of state next year and am worried that Virgin Mobile will not provide good service there, so just in case I want to be able to switch my iPhone to a different carrier. Virgin Mobile says they will unlock iPhones purchased from them for free (https://community.virginmobile.com.au/t5/Phones-knowledge-base/How-do-I-unlock-m y-Apple-iPhone/ta-p/80), but after doing some research, apparently it is really hard to switch carriers on a Virgin Mobile unlocked iPhone since they use CDMA. Sorry, I am not a techie, so am really unfamiliar to all of this. Will someone explain what that means, and if I would be able to potentially switch carriers?
    Thanks!

Several confusing pieces of information here.
First, the link to Virgin Mobile in the first post is for Virgin Mobile Australia. They will unlock their phones if you ask them.
Virgin Mobile USA is a different company (in a different country) and does NOT unlock phones.
Second, the iPhone sold on Virgin Mobile USA does have a SIMM card slot, even though VM network is CDMA. These iPhones are hybrids and have radio circuitry that supports both CDMA (Verizon, Sprint, VM USA), as well as GSM (T-Mobile, AT&T in US, as well as the rest of the world). When activated on Virgin Mobile, phone uses CDMA and the SIMM card is inactive (as well as the circuitry supporting it). However, when you put an active SIMM card (for example, T-Mobile's), the phone should be able connect to a GSM network. The problem is, this doesn't work because the SIMM slot is locked and doesn't allow SIMM cards from other carriers.
Virgin Mobile iPhones are somewhat different from other American carriers, and it appears that there is no unlocking solution for these. I have searched the web thoroughly and haven't been able to find anyone who would be able to unlock an iPhone sold by Virgin Mobile USA, so that it can be used with a SIMM card of another mobile carrier (domestic or foreign). For iPhones on Verizon, unlocking isn't even necessary; they are CDMA phones, which means that the CDMA circuitry can only be activated on Verizon (therefore no Sprint or Virgin Mobile), but the SIMM slot is unlocked and can be used with any global carrier. With AT&T and T-Mobile, unlocking is required, since the two are GSM operators which use SIMM cards, so the phone is locked to the carrier. Unlocking can be done, in some cases (if you've been a customer long enough) even by the carrier itself, and there are third-party unlocking services out there. Unfortunately, Virgin is the only one where this, for some reason, cannot be done.
