Problems adding books in iTunes 10.5.3

Hi,
I want to add books to Itunes by simply dragging PDF files from my filesystem into the iTunes Books Windows.
It does not seem to work, as books are not getting added.
I also try to add them directly by copying the books in the iTunes books folder on a filesystem level.
Again, I do not see the the books in the iTunes books list.
What is even more funny,is that the books are getting synced with my iPad2
I use iTunes 10.5.3 an I Lion 10.7.3
Is there any way to refrsh the books window, based on the files contained in the folder ?

No.
Did you try using iTunes import?
iTunes File > add to Library ...
I've tried and it works for pdf documents.

Problems syncing books from iTunes to iPad

Hi
I hope someone can help me. I'm having trouble syncing all my books from itunes to my ipad mini. I've checked the box to sync all books, but despite this, not all the books are syncing. I've even tried checking the "sync only selected books" and selected all the books, but still the same problem. I have 5.41 gb free on my ipad so it isn't a storage issue
I've restarted and restored my ipad, and rebooted my mac, but the problem persists and I'm now at a complete loss as to what the problem is.
I haven't downloaded OS Mavericks because of the problem people have experienced by losing the Books tab in itunes, so my books tab is still showing and all my books are in itunes and not the iBook app.
Help please

Are you sure you have correct colletion on iBook App. Collections> Books

HT1409 Problems adding artwork in iTunes on my mac

In iTunes I can open the Get Info file tabs for any of my new files and I can add information ok, but I cannot seem to add artwork which used to be the simplest of tasks on my old PC.
I can get to the artwork tab and add artwork for a file and although no errors come up, when I close the Get Info boxes, no artwork has been assigned to the file.
Any advice, as this used to work perfectly on my old machine and I have tried many different picture formats with the same isse (mostly I use jpg files).

So I am not sure if this will help, but I sort of solved my problem.
I keep my itunes catalog on an external hard drive. So I went through itunes preferences and changed the itunes media folder location to the standard one-located on my computers hard drive. This allowed my downloads to begin again. I then moved my entire library over to another exernal hard drive and it seems to be working again. I reformattted my orginal hard drive and it seems to be working fine as well.
My best guess is that it was a permissions issue with the original hard drive (even though I repaired my permissions many times). I wouldn't be surprised if it was related to an itunes update. I have noticed that itunes treats its media folder location differently than in the past. It used to be that if I wasn't connected to my external hard drive (that I keep itunes media on)(I use my laptop away from home) the podcasts would download to my computers/laptops itunes folder. Then if I hooked back up to the hard drive it would begain downloading to the hard drive again. It doesn't seem to remember the original hard drive anymore if itunes is open when it is not connected. A bit of an inconvinience, but not the end of the world.

Problems adding files to itunes library.

I am having issues when I try to add my mp3 directory to my iTunes library.
It only adds some of my files. All my music is in .mp3 format. When I add my c:\media\music folder to winamp, it shows like 5100 files, but when i add the same directory to itunes it only displays about 4500 files.
Anyone know why this might be happening?

Same problem here. I have my library for several months, played it whole for several times, but sometimes iTunes just refuses to play some songs (no errors, songs just dont play). I right click on them, see the info, it's all there, all the technical info, the path and etc. I try to delete them from the library, but can't add them there again. I throw the songs from my directory to the library or a playlist window and nothing happens, no errors, no songs.
And no, songs are not protected. Moving the mp3 files to different directories or even hard drives doesn't help.
That happened for several times now, for different albums, just out of nowhere.

Problem adding files to iTunes library

Sometimes when I click on Add files to library and select the files from a folder, iTunes doesn't do anything. It reverts back to the iTunes folder on my Windows PC. Sometimes, it works, sometimes it doesn't. The only way that I am sure it will work is to add ONE file at a time.
Does anyone else have the same problem?

Correct. That is a feature of iTunes for Windows, and it makes use of the underlying capabilities of Windows Media Player. It does not work on a Mac.

I'm getting a lot of problem adding movies to itunes library.!!??

So i wanted to add a movie to the library which I am not able.
I added a movie previously using a video convertor and it was added successfully so theres no question of installing Quick Time.
and then specifically for this movie I tried was proven a failure. I tried the dragging method as well but when i drag the movie it just says *link*
I even tried the *Add a File to the Library* but the movie doesnt show up in the itunes media library !

Problems adding songs to iTunes/syncing

So I recently got a new 160g iPod, and went through the trouble of cleaning up my library. When i attempted to Sync all 9k songs i had, only about 2-3k actually made it to my ipod. So i reset my ipod to factory settings, uninstalled itunes and tried to reinstal itunes, and throw all my music back onto itunes. Now whenever I open itunes it says "analyzing music" at the top, as if i just dragged a bunch of new music into my itunes, and claims it will analyze roughly 5k songs. Well whenever this happens my itunes decides to crash and stop working. Im not sure if it is an iTunes problem, or my computers problem. here is the most recent (of many) crash reports. Any help is appreciated, just trying to get some tunes on my ipod.

Im sure someone will know better than me how to fix this but you could try opening windows exploror and going to the folder the songs are located in, rightclick the song, select "Open With" and pick iTunes. That might force iTunes to open and add the song then
I Know iTUnes has issues with MP#s and corrupt ID3 tags attacted to them. you can search the net for a program called "TidyMP3" to fix corrupt tags if you have them

Hello community. I recently had my 5 1/2 year old Macbook pro crap out on me. I was basically using it as a vehicle for my music in its twilight days. I was worried I had lost my whole 7500 song library, but luckily for me I am signed up for itunes match, so it was not a problem getting my music library back on my PC desktop computer. I have run into the problem of not being able to add new songs to my library on this new computer, however. I don't purchase most of my music, though purchased songs do work. It's the songs acquired in the not-so traditional way that I'm having a problem with. I've tried downloading them in mp3 and mp4 format, and have tried every way I used to do on my mac laptop, like dragging it over or trying to upload it though my internet downloads page. It's very frustrating that I can't figure this out. Curious to see if anyone else has run into a similar situation or if I'm just screwed. Either way, thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Check the manual for whatever backup program you used, or, if you just copied the files over, copy them that.

When i changed the names of my books in iTunes, it did not changed in the iPad after i had synced it again with the changes. can anyone help? i had added authors to the author column and deleted their names from the book titles.

i had added books to iBooks on iTunes and synced with my iPad mini. Then I realised that the titles sometimes had the author name, or a random number before it. I made changes to all the books in my iTunes library, edited the titles, added authors to the author columns, year in year column etc and synced my iPad again. but my iPad did not update these changes at all is still in the old way. can this be rectified?

Have you tried closing the app via the taskbar ? (I assume that your iPad is on iOS 6, though the version that your tagline shows, 6.1.6, is not a version for iPads) From the home screen (i.e. not with iTunes store app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the iTunes app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't fix it then you could try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Problem removing pdf's from Books in itunes

I have recently purchased an Ipad2 - I managed to upload some pdf's to itunes (I forget how now) and they are now sitting in books in itunes when i connect my ipad.
I have deleted the files from my Mac so they no longer exist - they are also deleted from my ipad however they still appear in itunes and I can not get rid of them from there.
Not sure if I explained it well - anyone know how to delete pdf's from itunes - menu does not allow, drag to trash also does not work.

There is a real problem with this because I cannot erase any book inside iTunes, even afte de-checked and applied. but this is one of the many things that are getting difficult to manage, in relation to the past where everything could be done and adjusted. it is really incredible how things are getting worse managing apple's applications. I saw, for instance, Samsung S4 and the way is working puts the iPhone really in the prehistoric age. I am waiting what will happen in the following months to see if abandon all the Apple's I have.
this began also with Jobs and I don't know how far could Apple go forward.
when they showed in 1984 how the big brother was and what instead Apple was.. the roles have been changed. now Apple is the becoming (if not already is it) the big brother.
and this is very sad because the future has to be put on solid ancient things. as real life.
but time will explain it better than my words.
I'm just a witness of what is going worse with you Apple.

All new podcasts blank - There was a problem adding "" to iTunes.

All new podcast episodes have a blank name, but the description is there. Clicking the exclamation point next to it yields - There was a problem adding "" to itunes.
This is not just my old subscriptions but new ones as well. The episode actually downloads completely but does not get added to my library.
Anybody have a suggestion how to resolve this?

After days of no solution, as soon as I post it decides to resolve this by itself.

Problem with adding Videos in itunes

Can someone please please help me!
Ever since i upgraded to the latest version of itunes I started encountering problems/difficulties in adding videos in itunes library. All the videos that I'm trying to upload are in the correct file format (mpeg4/mp4). I tried adding using Add File to Library, Add Folder to library and even Import..nothing happens..no prompt that its uploading. In the end can't add any video.
I tried doing this using my PC and my laptop and i still encounter the same problem so I can say that th problem is not on my computers.

Sync problem between iPhone and iTunes (Music&Books)

Hello, I have a synchronization problem between the macbook and iPhone 5S. On the macbook I've Maverik updated and also the Iphone is updated.
First problem: the timing so long, especially at the step of applications, compared to when it was fast, applications have not changed.
Second problem: the music, I flagged "synchronizes the selected music" but all the flags on the selected artists are missing, despite what the music is on iPhone . I tried to flag again on itunes but all song was duplicate in Iphone.
Third problem: the books, it happens the same music.
The problem does not occur with the photo with the ringtones and videos.
I've tried everything from simple restart of the mac and the iPhone, checked and updated macbook, iPhone and itunes. Repaired permissions on the mac.
What can I do?

Ciao, da un po' di giorni ho un problema di sincronizzazione fra il macbook e l' Iphone 5S. Sul macbook ho Maverik aggiornato e anche il telefono non JB è aggiornato.
Primo problema: la sincronizzazione dura tanto, sopratutto allo step delle applicazioni, rispetto a quando era veloce le applicazioni non sono cambiate.
Secondo problema: la musica, ho flaggato "sincronizza la musica selezionata" ma sono spariti tutti i flag sugli artisti selezionati, ciò nonostante la musica è presente sull' iphone. Ho provato a riselezionarli e me li duplica tutti.
Terzo problema: i libri, succede la stessa della musica.
Il problema non si manifesta con le foto con le suonerie e i video.
Ho provato di tutto a partire dal semplice riavvio del mac e del telefono, controllato e aggiornato macbook, telefono e itunes. Riparato permessi sul mac.
Cosa posso fare?
