Problems after applying latest Airport update.

I have a core duo macbook and was able to maintain a connection to my wpa secured wireless network before running software update a few days ago. After doing so, I can't maintain a connection. It simply stops working.
I disconnect, reconnect, and os x says there was a problem connecting to my network. I turn airport off then back on and still get the same error.
I am still able to sign onto other networks. My ibook and powerbook have no trouble connecting and maintaining a connection to my wpa secured network when my mac book is having trouble. I have not applied any software updates to those recently.
After rebooting the macbook, I can connect just fine. This happens once every 3 hours or so and is driving me nuts. Anyone know how to rollback the update or know what might be wrong?

i have the same problem after the update. i see some members on the forums suggesting to turn off the wifi security helps, but who wants to give free wifi to there neighbors. with my situation, my router has a settings for "WPA-AES" or "WPA-TKIP." i had my router set for "WPA-AES" before the update, things works fine, after the update i tried to delete the key chain entries of my wifi connection and the preferred network list, which didn't help, but changing my router to be "WPA-TKIP" helped. my connection works normally again, i can reboot, put the macbook to sleep and it reconnects fine.
hope this might work for you if you have this "TKIP" setting for you wifi router. i have a buffalo WZR-RS-G54 router, btw.

Was the software update interupted at all? Was it a wireless update and was your BlackBerry Z10 smartphone connected to a power source during the update?
Do you see an LED light when you connect it to a power source and try removing and reinserting the battery again?

Macbook Pro, Summer 2012, ML 10.8.2 problem After the latest EFI Update

I have an ssd as my main hdd. ML 10.8.2, and also a bootcamp partition.
I saw that an update was available for the efi firmware.
i updated and immediately afterward, my laptop froze!
I restarted, but now i couldnt boot into ML any longer. Havent been able to, ever since.
I used a Mountain Lion install DVD/USB, still no bueno. All I've been getting is first the grey apple logo with the "working" circle below it,
then i get the solid grey circle with a slash through it indefinitely.
I booted in verbose mode and i got the Waiting for root device" error, even when using dvd, and usb devices with mountain lion install burned onto them.
These media work and boot up on my older macbook by the way.
Finally, i decided to use internet recovery, and after 8 hours on a painfully slow internet connection, It booted into the network recovery.
I checked HDD using disk utility, All is well! the ssd shows as mounted and healthy.
Repair disk shows NO ERRORS.
Repair Permissions shows NO ERRORS.
and all through this, my BOOTCAMP still works 100%. I can boot into windows and all my ram, devices, etc show just fine!!
HELP ME! cuz I cant even reinstall ML as only internet recovery works and that could take a day or two to download and run.
Im considering undoing the EFI firmware update but i dont know how.

Apparently, the USB install Disk was not properly formatted. Which is why I couldnt boot from it.
But there was no indication so i couldnt have known! I just randomly decided to recreate it and voila! No need for internet recovery.
However, after reinstalling, once in a while, i still get that waiting for root device. I Blame EFI!
It's a good thing that I rarely restart my MBP anyways

MBP bricked right after applying latest Security Update

I tried everything on the Apple Help page (all the PRAM stuff) but it won't boot/start up. It doesn't even get to the chime. It makes a noise then seems to "wind down" after about three seconds.
I can't get a Genius appointment for a whole week, luckily I do have AppleCare.
If any one has any miracle suggestions in the meantime, I'd love to try them.

You may be able to get help without going to the store. Since you have the AppleCare Protection Plan call AppleCare (you don't say where you are - use the appropriate number off of [this page|http://www.apple.com/support/contact/phone_contacts.html] and let them help you. If it turns out to be a hardware issue they can set up a mail in repair. No guarantees, but I have had repairs get back to me in 4 days.

Has anyone had this same problem after downloading latest quicktime update. iTunes store will not load.

This happened to me today as well post installing the latest version of itunes. I did a search on google for the error and came across a recommendation to :
Note: Start Windows in Safe Mode to complete any of the following steps if you're unable to access Windows normally due to the msvcr80.dll error.
If, and only if, you're receiving the msvcr80.dll is missing error when you open Apple iTunes, do the following: (skip this step if your msvcr80.dll error is occurring with a different program)
Uninstall from Windows the following five programs in this order: iTunes, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, and finally Apple Application Support. If you have iCloud, remove it as well.
Uninstalling these programs in Windows is done from an applet in Control Panel called Programs & Features (in Windows 8, 7, or Vista) or Add or Remove Programs (in Windows XP).
Note: Songs and playlists in iTunes will not be removed when you uninstall the iTunes program or any of the other, already-mentioned Apple programs. If you'd still like to back them up, they're usually located in the My Music folder in Windows.
Download the latest version of iTunes from Appleand note the location you're saving it to so you can find it once it's done.
Run the iTunes installation as an administrator. If you're not sure how to do that, see How Do I Open an Elevated Command Prompt? for help. That procedure shows you how to open the Command Prompt program as an administrator, but the steps are essentially the same for anything, including the iTunes installation package you just downloaded.
A general overview of removing and reinstalling iTunes can also be found here on Apple's site but the above procedure seems to work better in this particular situation.

Apple changed MobileMe to iCloud and then restricted iCloud to 10.7 users only unfortunately
If your machine is a 64 bit processor Intel Mac you can upgrade to 10.7 for $29, however a lot of your 10.5/10.6/Rosetta based software could cease to function, especially third party hardware drivers for printers, fax machines, all-in-ones, scanners etc.

Also depending how old the machine is, if it can accept 4GB of RAM (preferred), older video card, may not run 10.7 very well or stable.
My advice is to keep at 10.6.8, get a web based email service that's plaform/hardware neutral, forward your iPhone emails there. Gmail/Yahoo Mail for instance.
When your ready for new hardware and all new software, then buy a new machine.
If your going to go to 10.7 on your present hardware, I advise you clone 10.6.8 to a external drive first, that way you can c boot off the 10.6 disk erase the drive completely (necessary to remove hidden Lion Recovery Partition) and option boot off the 10.6.8 clone and reverse clone.

MacBook Pro & Latest Airport Update Problem

Hi, I just ran the software update and installed the latest Airport update - AirPort Extreme Update 2008-001 for Tiger , and it's conflicting with my system, giving me CPU spikes...everything was fine before I installed the latest update. Is there a way I can go back to what was previously there? How do I install the older Airport files?

If you don't have a backup you can restore, then the only way to revert to your previous system is the following:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

Time capsule not working with ppoe after latest airport update

I've just updated installed the latest airport update from apple and now my time capsule will not connect to the intenet vie PPoE via a BT Infinity FTTP modem. The only thing that has changed is the software update. Any ideas?

Tivo and Roku may really need upnp which is not provided by the apple router.
But to test this properly are you double NATting.. if you have an existing modem router did you bridge it before connecting the TC.
Tell us exactly what broadband you have, and what make and model is your modem?? Is it working as router??
If the TC is also working as router it should be fixed to work as bridge mode.

Satellite 100-192: Issues after the latest MS update...

After the latest MS update I first had the problem with the Realtek sound card driver. I solved it by applying the patch MS provided.
Now the problem is that the disc cleanup utility does not launch. Anybody any idea?

I just found out that my disc cleanup utility would not work because of a free program called Photo Toolkit. Although it is a nice little program to quickly edit photos, apparently it causes such problems when it is loaded.

ITunes (Win7 x64) is no longer opening after the latest version update

iTunes (Win7 x64) is no longer opening after the latest version update - I have attempted an un/reinstall - can anyone offer other suggestions?
I am running Windows 7 64-bit, and am trying to reinstall the 64-bit iTunes from the iTunes website. I previously have had this working for the last few years with no major issues, the Apple Software Updater has been pestering me for some time so I finally got it to update. However now iTunes will not start, if I select the icons nothing happens. There are no iTunes applications running in the background in Task Manager either.

1. First check if this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?
If that works, to prevent having to do the same process everytime you restart Windows, go to. START button, type in
MSCONFIG
Hit ENTER
Click STARTUP Tab, Uncheck "Apple Push", click OK.
Restart Windows.
2. If that fails, refer to following article to remove SC Files

Printing problems after 10.6.5 update

Any news on a possible problem with the latest system update? After doing this the other day I can't seem to print correctly out of photoshop CS5. The print box seems to preview correctly but does not come out the way I want. The same file opened up on a 10.6.4 system will print good. I hear it may be the upgrade that happened. Is there a fix coming out soon? Or any ideas on how I can help my computer. Also, just in case you tell me to do this I already cleaned house on the preferences for photoshop.

Will not start even in safe boot after installing latest camera update

MacBook Pro will not start even in safe boot after installing latest camera update.
I started my machine and did a software update. Only the camera update needed. So installed and when required I pressed restart. It restarted and did install. Then restarted again. I expected to get to the login screen and it turned itself off. Tried three more times. Each time shutting off. I unplugged everything, and pressed start waiting for log in window. No it shutdown before the log in window. I then tried safe mode and that did not work either on three more occasions.

I have managed to resolve some issues. I can now restart the machine via a CD boot. If I do cmd C into something like tech tool pro, then restart from that disks menu it restarts every time.
If I try a safe start it shuts down. If I try a normal start it shuts down. I have managed to repair permissions and that cleared up some start up permissions but with no improvement to the boot problem. The only way to load is via the cmd-C boot option. Any other ideas?

Sudden increase of AEBS issues? Is it linked to the latest Airport updates?

Is my impression correct that AEBS issues of a certain type (a) have suddendly increased and (b) seem to correlate with the latest Firmware Updates for AEBS?
I posted already a problem (no LAN functionality, I have no access to printers etc). I was wondering what you think about.
Further, does somebody know how I can revert the FW Update 5.7 and go back to 5.6?

We are not allowed to ask that question. Remember, it must, must, must be our fault - we have to be careful about that. Well, I guess that if someone who leans to the right politically, can still question the actions of the current president - then I guess it is OK for Mac lovers to question Apple - so I take back what I said at the top.

IPhoto slideshow is very very very slow after the latest software update

As the subject states, iPhoto slideshows are very slow: after clicking on the slideshow-button first nothing happens, after a while the screen goes black (that lasts about a minute or so) and the (finally) the slideshow starts. which is very annoying because it displays no options screen at first as it used to do, it just starts using very annoying standard music... quitting slideshow again to go to the options menu takes ages!! this problem started after the latest software update... way to go Apple...
suggestions anyone?!

Well I haven’t seen this problem.
Start with the troubleshooting basics:
1. Delete the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
2. Repair Permissions using Disk Utility
3. Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts) and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.
