Problems after software updates - iTunes, Sound, Clock and General

Question

After applying the update to iTunes (7.6.2), it has almost exclusively crashed straight after start up, or after a few seconds of playback. Twice it's worked for a short period, but then crashed when I plugged my iPod in.
I get this in the Problem Report:
Exception Type: EXCBADACCESS (SIGBUS)
Exception Codes: KERNPROTECTIONFAILURE at 0x0000000000000008
Ire-installed it to no avail.
A couple of days later I carried out most of the other updates, and ever since things are running slow. Everything down to the trackpad movement is sluggish, even choosing a user and entering my password falters and stalls. Sound seems to skip and struggles to be played if at all, and absurdly my clock is losing time, at a rate of about 50 minutes every hour.
Taking the battery out and holding down the power button temporarily(about 10 minutes) resolved the sluggishness, after which point it slowed back down.

I'd be very grateful for any help or pointers as to what may have cause the problems, and how I might go about rectifying them.

i have the same problem. my battery drains after an NSU update of my nokia 5800 to v50. do i need to reupdate?
