Problems applying patch 8.1.7.1.1

WE HAVE 2 SEPARATE INSTALLATIONS AS FOLLOWS:
1)
NT4 / DB 8.1.7.0 / iAS 1.0.2.0(portal 3.0.7) all under same machine
WE USE THIS SERVER FOR TESTING
2)
W2000 / DB 8.1.7.0 / iAS 1.0.2.2 (portal 3.0.9). db in one server, iAS in another server.
WE ARE PLANNING TO USE THESE SERVERS
FOR PRODUCTION.
WE WANTED TO APPLY PATCH 8.1.7.1.1 IN THE PRODUCTION ENVIRONMENT BUT WE DECIDED TO TRY IT FIRST IN THE TEST ENVIRONMENT.
WE STARTED THE INSTALLATION AND ALL WENT FINE UNTIL STEP 5 ,WHEN YOU NEED TO "CONNECT INTERNAL" AND RUN SOME SQL SCRIPTS (CATALOG.SQL, CATPROC.SQL, etc...)
WE COULD NOT CONNECT AS INTERNAL. THEREFORE, WE COULD NOT FINISH THE WHOLE PROCESS FOR THE PATCH INSTALLATION.
TO MY SURPRISE, THE DB AND THE PORTAL ARE STILL WORKING NORMALLY!! IS THIS REASONABLE?
CAN I RUN THE SQL SCRIPTS REQUIRED IN STEP 5 AS "SYS" USER INSTEAD OF "INTERNAL"?
TKS!!

TKS PHILIP!
IN ORDER TO CONNECT WITH "SYS" THEN THE DATABASE HAS TO BE UP AND RUNNING.
I DON'T REMEMBER THE INSTALLATION STEPS MENTIONING TO START THE DATABASE PRIOR TO RUN THE SQL SCRIPTS (UNDER "INTERNAL").
ANY ADVICES?

I'm going to be installing Oracle Beehive and one of the pre req's is the patch 6168363. I installed a vanilla Oracle 11g DB, have already successfully applied patches 6708565 and 6750049 but 6168363 fails with the following. Anyone else been able to apply this patch or had a similar problem?

Gah, I just figured this out. The path to my patch files contained a space! "beehive install" so i've removed the space, rerun opatch and it works. I'm amazed that modern operating systems are still struggling with "spaces"...

  • Problem applying patches on Sol10

I am trying to apply patch on Sol 10x86 box. patchadd is failing siliently with no indication on what might be the problem. I tried on two different machines with identical results. Any ideas on what might be the problem or how to debug it.

I am assuming you want to only apply this patch in a specific Zone? If that is the case you would want to use -G instead of -g as the option.

When used in the global zone, the patch is added to packages in the global zone only and is not propagated to pack-ages in any existing or yet-to-be-created non-global zone. • Problem applying patch 125547-02

I am attempting to patch a Solaris Sparc 10 06/06 system to the latest patches using the smpatch command. One of the patches that needs to be applied in patch 125547-02. However I am unable to install this patch as it has a dependency on patch 122660-10. I attempt to download and install patch 122660-10 using smpatch and I'm unable to do so (the patch cannot be found after issuing the "smpatch download -i 122660-10") command. Going to sunsolve.sun.com I am able to download a copy of patch 122660-10 however when I attempt to install it I am told it cannot be installed as patch number 124204-01 needs to be installed. Unfortunately I am unable to download or install this patch using either smpatch or logging into sunsolve. Has anyone encountered this problem before and been able to resolve it?
Needless to say I am very frustrated at the difficulty it takes to keep a Solaris system patched.

Thank you for your assistance. That was the patch I needed as I was able to install patch 125547-02. It's odd that sunsolve did not list patch 124204-01 at all on the site. Typically when a patch has been obsoleted it remains on sunsolve and a reference to the new patch is made. That was not the case for patch 124204-01. One other thing to note: I was unable to use smpatch to download and install patch 124204-04 as you suggested. I had to log on to sunsolve and download the patch and install it with patchadd.

  • Problem Applying Patch KB70009

    Dear All,
I have installed Solution Manager 4.0 SR1.  I have upgraded Support Package from 20 to 23 successfully.
Now I wish to apply BASIS Patch 70009. It asks for CRT i.e. SAPKITL417. I added the sam also in the queue. This CRT asks for SAPKW70009. I addeed that. Then when I checked the queue it asks for SAPKIPYJ79. I added that also
    Now I started importing it.
It started normally but keeps on running in " Main Import" phase for more than 20 Hours. It is still running.
What could be the problem & how to get rid of this.
Pls revert ASAP as I need to take action accordingly.
    Thanks

  • Problems applying patch for Jena adapter

I got errors when applying the patch to 11g (11.1.0.6) for the Jena Driver (from OTN). I executed each .sql/.plb file in the order stated by the patch instructions:

After this the SDO_RDF package could not be found when making semantic API calls.
Any idea what I did wrong? I rolled back from the patch by re-executing the backed up (pre-patch) versions of the .sql and .plb files which successfully restored the SDO_RDF package but I still can't install the patch.
    Thanks.

After trying to re-run the patch process I couldn't get catsem11i to run successfully. I have dropped my models, network, and removed the model data tables (that I originally created) containing SDO_RDF_TRIPLE data types so I'm not sure why I'm getting the error below. Any idea where else these dependenices could be or how to fully clean?

  • Problem applying patches...

    All,
I'm trying to apply 6880880 to 10.2.0.4 running on a Windows 2003 box. I connect to Metalink and download the patch to the cache without issue but then when it comes to the checkTarget step it just sits there forever and nothing happens. It also isn't creating the directory %oracle_home%\EMSTagedPatches\6880880... I created a local account and made sure it had full control of the directory structure but still nothing... Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Tony

The best idea is, do it manually. Download the patch directly from metalink and apply it according to the readme file. I don't trust in EM's patching facilities.

  • System problems after applying patches

    Hi all,
I was patching our netweaver 2004s system and now I am not able to use any transaction anymore.
First I updated the Abapkernel and the SPAM itself. Then I started applying the Abap support packages. I had no problem applying patch level 7 and 8. When I imported patchlevel 9, the system did not respond anymore. Every time I tried to execute a transaction I got a shortdump.
Do you have any idea what could be the problem?
We restored the system and now I got a similar error already when updating SPAM.
    Thanks & Regards
    Cornelius

    hi everyone.
    here is the problem
we recently applied patch 5 for CM on EP 6.0 SP2
the portal platform is at patch 27.
after having applied the patch the logs indicated that the upgrade sequence completed successfully.
however after we restarted the portal and logged back in none of the KM repositories are accessible. it just says not found / is not accessible or is not available.
under system admin when we go into Content Management Configuration it says invalid Repository Managers.
i have reset the SAPWCM user password and check the connection pool settings but still nuthin.
i have checked the cm.properties and config_local.properties files. however i have no document to compare what the correct format of the entries in these files is. i know they are supposed to have identical entries.
    can somebody help?
    thanks

    Hi,
I had the same problems after patching CM. I had to re-enter the WCM password of the 3 CM Conenction Pools in the CM Configuration under "jdbc connection pools".
    Hope this helps

  • Problems after applying patches - please help

    Hi All,
i've just applied some patches last week to one of my CF servers (CF 8.01 on SBS 2003).  I followed the instructions and didnt really have any issues i noticed until yesterday. The debugging output on screen is gone, replaced by a 500 error and a ton of error codes like this:
    [code
    ]ROOT CAUSE:
    java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: coldfusion.server.DataSourceService.executeQuery(Ljava/sql/Connection;Ljava/lang/String;L java/lang/String;Lcoldfusion/sql/ParameterList;Ljava/lang/Integer;Ljava/lang/Integer;Ljava /lang/Integer;[IIIZZ)Lcoldfusion/sql/Table;
              at coldfusion.sql.SqlImpl.execute(SqlImpl.java:329)
              at coldfusion.tagext.sql.QueryTag.executeQuery(QueryTag.java:838)
              at coldfusion.tagext.sql.QueryTag.doEndTag(QueryTag.java:528)
    [/code]
i also cannot view the logfiles in CF administrator. Similar error code as above - full page.
    Patches i applied were:
    APSB12-06
    APSB11-29
    APSB12-15
not necessarily in that order (i followed the order specified on adobe's site).
any help or guidance is greatly appreciated-i can provide any info that may help. t
    thank you very much

    Hi
First of all you might have taken backup of files before applying patches. If yes then please replace them first to stabilize it. Once that is done then apply patches one by one and test it before applying other one. That should help and identify the issue if there is any.
    Regards
