Problems backing up, is it the internal hd or the external hd.

I have an early Intel MBP with a replaced Western Digital 750Gb internal drive I installed about 2 years ago. The machine is slow and I haven't even gotten it into Snow Leopard, let alone Lion, so the time has come: wipe this drive clean and do a fresh install.
I bought a new WD 2Tb external, formatted for Windows and reformatted for Mac (Mac OS Journaled I believe). When I'm copying data over, I am getting a LOT of -36 errors, data can't be read or copied. It could just be w few bad sectors on the internal drive, but I'm getting an awful lot of bad errors. Of course I have to force quit Finder when I get those errors. So copying files is becoming beyond tedious, not to mention I'm trashing whatever problematic files I can catch (none of them so far are that important). But I can't copy over 500gigs and walk away. Doing it piecemeal is painful too.
I'm guessing, hoping, it's the internal drive. I doubt it's the new drive, but not sure. Any ideas on how to transfer data more efficiently or remedy the situation? I'm verifying permissions in Disk Utility now, but not sure if that will help anyway.

You have not prepped the external drive properly:
Drive Preparation
1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (for Intel Macs) or APM (for PPC Macs) then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.

Followup: on a business trip. Booked ahead for Genius Bar appointment. Fixed in half an hour. His hardware test found nothing wrong with the MacBook. He flashed Mountain Lion onto the laptop with no hiccups. Right there in the store the MB connected to iCloud and I had all my personal information back. Back in the hotel room it only took me 3 hours to fully reinstall all my purchased software over the hotel's wired LAN from the App Store and third party sites, without needing a single DVD like in the bad old days. Even re-installing MS Office was painless. I just searched with Google, then the MS page I clicked on served up a form with my information on it automatically and sent me an email with the product key when I clicked download. Obviously their server recognized this device. I cloned the MB to a small PassPort backup portable external hard drive and then used the MacBook normally in meetings next day. Very impressive service. We've come a long way from portable computing two decades ago.
Still a mystery why the installation would not complete at home, but problem resolved.

The internal hard drive on my early 2009 24" iMac is nearly full. I have already worked to free as much space on the HD as possible. How do I add an external HD and have the iMac read it as though it was part of the internal HD. I know about external HD for additional storage and I do have an external HD, but, it is so much easier to search the drive when it is internal than having to perform a search on the internal drive and then a search on the external drives. And, it is easier to save files to an internal drive so that I don't have to decide which external drive to use to save files. In other words, I want to add an external HD and have it function as though I had purchased a larger internal HD.

That is simply not possible. Every drive is a separate device. It cannot be used to extend an internal drive as though you had a seamlessly larger drive.
What you can do is to create a striped RAID array using the internal drive and an external drive. However, doing this will erase the internal drive and you will lose everything on the internal drive. Furthermore, installing Lion or Mountain Lion becomes a bit of a problem because you cannot create a Recovery HD on a RAID and this tends to make the installer choke. However, you can clone an existing Lion or Mountain Lion system to the RAID and designate the RAID as a startup volume.
I would not recommend the RAID solution, personally, but there are many who do. I prefer the basic solution of spending the money on a larger internal hard drive instead of an external hard drive.

This is because it has more available configurations and options. System data is the OS or operating system. That is where the recovery stays separated from the rest of the storage so that it doesn't get corrupted. It is not accessible and non-movable.

Launch Photos while holding down the alt/options key.
This will show the Library Chooser panel. Select the library on the external drive. Photos will create a Photos Library on the same drive.
Photos may not be able to open the library, however, if your external drive has an incompatible file system. We are trying to setup Lync 2013 Edge Server, we have a setup as described below
Real IPs for Lync Edge/WebConf/AV
NAT of real IPs through Firewall Juniper to FE IP
Topology with NAT (Firewall IP) IP enabled
Certificates for with SAN for sip.acme.com etc (Both certs are Client Server Auth Templates from Internal MS CA)(Trusted) on Edge

Hello ppl , i purchased a iphone5s a fortnight ago , I noticed a shadowy glow on the internal top of the screen when i tilted the phone... when to the service centre the service engineer couldnt repair it so i asked for a replacement as the other iphones do not have anything like the one i had ...he told me that he would talk with his higher authorities ... How to Read the internal table for the data download from the spool

I have one issue regarding the spool ,we are getting the correct output as per requirement of user but when we send the same to the user in pdf format they did notget the same.
they are telling that the due date is missing from the pdf.
Please advice me how to track the internal table for the spool data converted intopdf in a readable format.
the FM used for the above task is :
call function 'CONVERT_OTFSPOOLJOB_2_PDF'

Format the internal memory of the DMP

Anyone know how I can format the internal memory of the DMP?
I store content in the internal memory of the DMP and USB memory, but a few days from the date the DMPs generate files with strange names (junk files).
To delete these junk files, I remove the drive and formatting on a computer.
But it is hard work, since I have 300 DMPs.

Yes that would work. You can put two 2gb RAM sticks in your model 2,1 but it can only use 3,3gb. This is a hardware limitation and cannot be changed.

Go to System Preferences Sound Input and adjust the volume level down by dragging the slider to the left. With an audio app like Logic there is an option for input monitoring when recording so there might be a feedback loop if the volume is set too high. Garage Band works in a similar way. Always be careful when using headphones as the noise can be frightful and cause hearing damage.

Problem with downloading the internal table onto the presentation server.

I have a problem where in i am downloading one year of sales done by the company. I wrote a program to download the file onto the presentation server . The error occurs in the FM GUI_DOWNLOAD where if the file exceeds 105843504 bytes its giving me a dump saying that
When the program was running , it was established that more memory was needed than the operating system is able to safely to provide.
The current program has to be terminted because of the program already requested 105843504 bytes from the operating system with malloc when the operating system reported after further memory request that there was no more memory space available.
Could somebody provide an alternative soltuion for this.
Its really urgent as i can download the file with 70,000,000 bytes

Hi Rock,
Please download the files on to Application Server, else as suggested by Ashish download into 2 or 3 files and merge them manually.
Declare same internal tables may be 5 times.
When you fill the internal table check for a counter and when you hit a certain number stop appending to it and start appending to the next.
After you are done so download all the internal tables.
I guess this would be a good way. I am not sure if there are any ther alternative good methods.

i have added canvas on the internal frame(contentpane).
when internal frame appears on the screen menus are being overlapped.
it means if i open the menu they will be hide behind canvas and can not be seen.
plzz guide me what to do?

This is a typical problem when mixing Swing (JFrame) components with AWT components (Canvas). Make sure you stick to only one of these GUI packages when implementing your own gui.
