Problems burning a dvd backup in Mac OS X tiger

hi I have some problems to burn a dvd in my mac, when its burning the dvd for some reason the system reboots I'm trying burning with the finder and the computer its a G5 have an OS X tiger 10.4.11 running in an Intel processor box, with two user accounts, the admin and an other one who's have no admin permission I m login into this account when I tried to burn the dvd I dont know if the permission have something about because with the admin account it works great
so thats my problem if you have an Idea please help me guys
thanks for your time

it's a DVD+R media disc. In Finder I can see the
files on the disc, there's a folder Audio_TS and
VIdeo_TS. There's .VOB, .IFO, .BUP files in the
Video_TS folder and there are no files in the
Audio_TS folder.
The folders and files sound correct (the Audio_TS folder should be empty).
Try launching Apple's DVD Player application in the Application Folder. It should give you the option to open a DVD (I think that's what the new version of Player says - the old version used to say to open the VIDEO_TS Folder)

  • Burn Audio DVD on 2nd Mac (share burner?)

    Hi,
Is there a quick/painless way to copy iTunes library between Macs ....
or, better still, to share a second Mac's DVD burner?
I have my entire 6G audio library on my Mac Mini (which is the central hub in my multi-computer wireless household; as there is far less chance of it being lost or stolen than my laptops).
I want to burn a 4.7G playlist onto a DVD that I can then play in my car (which is MP3 compatible. This way I can also select/play the songs using my SatNav menu. Better option than using iPod).
The problem is that my Mac Mini only has a CD burner; but my MacBook Pro has a Super Drive. So, somehow I need to temporarily get 4.7Gs worth of music between computers.
I have shared my library but then the burning option is disabled on my MacBook Pro - even though all my iTunes libraries are logged in with the same id, even though they are all on a local network.
I tried Blue Coconut - but it just hangs saying 'Please Wait' (again, despite it being on a local 54Mb wireless network).
    Any easy options?

Transferring 4.7 GB on my wireless network doesn't take long at all. If it's too slow in your case, then you could power off the Mac Mini and connect it via a FireWire cable (6-pin to 6-pin) to your MacBook Pro. Then power on the Mac Mini while depressing the T key on the Mac Mini's keyboard. The entire Mac Mini hard drive should now mount as a FireWire hard drive on the MacBook Pro, and you can you can burn the DVD project "locally."
When you're finished with the project, be sure to eject (unmount) the Mac Mini by dragging its FireWire hard drive icon to the Trash, then power down the Mac Mini and disconnect the FireWire cable from both computers.

  • Problem burning a DVD

I just recently got a MacBook, and am loving it so far. However, I have encountered my first problem. I was burning a DVD using iDVD, and after about a minute, it got very, very noisy, and made unusual noises as well, not what I was used to hearing while DVDs or CDs were playing/being ripped to my computer. I left it, but after about 18 minutes, my computer froze. I was running Safari and had iTunes open, but wasn't playing anything. My pointer froze, and I couldn't do anything. I pressed command, option, esc, and tried to force quit iDVD, but it just flashed the box saying this would lose unsaved info and then nothing happened. I tried a second time, and then I tried pushing the eject button, but again, nothing. So I ended up restarting my computer. The DVD was ejected when the computer restarted. I am going to put the DVD in another player to see if it burned, but I was wondering if this is normal, or if I should not run any other apps while burning DVDs? Also, is it normal for it to make a large amount of noise? Thanks for the help!

Please quit iDvd. Restart the mac. And run and Extended Hardware Test (from the Apple Hardware Test CD that hopefully shipped with your recent purchase).
Click here /Mine looks like this:
Remember: Not the quick test but rather an Extended Hardware Test.
    Post the results here please.

  • Problems burning a DVD Movie/Warning Message

#1...I had no problem at all downloading a movie from my camcorder, editing, making chapters,,but when I tried to burn a DVD, it showed a Warning Message: "There were warnings dring the project validation. It is recommended to fix these problems before burning."
Does Anyone Know how to Fix the problems? I am Clueless and no help with the help files. My system is about 6 years old, could be it's not fit to burn DVD's..
I am needing to learn to do these DVD's, I want to make more.
I have had to have a friend burn some for me.
    Now, next question:
How do I network two computers together so I can transfer files, movies etc... My brother has a New iMac, Fancy New one with all kind of good stuff... I know he has iLife06..
I believe his has a DVD burner...
How fast does a DVD burner work on one DVD, if the Movie is about 85 minutes long.
What equipment or tools does one need to hook up two computers together?
    thank you,

    hi newsue:

  • What do I need to burn a dvd if my mac says it doesnt support SuperDrive

I have a Mac OS X. When i open iDvd it says:
Your Machintosh does not have a supported SuperDrive. Please note that while you will be able to work with iDvd projects you will not be able to burn a DVD disc.
I checked under About this Mac and under CD-Write it only says -R, -RW
I made a movie on iMovie and therefore the only way to get it on a dvd would be through iDVD...right?
So what do I do now? Do I have to buy something? How much will it cost?
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Welcome Prisiclaz
If your mac doesn't have an internal burner you can still use an external S-Drive/burner (via firewire) and it should work fine. Lacie makes ext. fw S-Drives for macs or you can make your own like I did with a pioneer 110 or 111 and a standard FW 400/800 enclosure:

Reduce your burn speed to 1/2 the Rating of the Media.
    Disc Burner
If more than one supported disc burner is connected to your computer, choose one from the menu.
    Preferred Speed
When you burn a CD, iTunes automatically uses the best recording speed for the CD. However, if your blank CD is rated for a slower speed than the maximum speed of your drive, or if you experience problems creating CDs, you may want to change the recording speed to match the CD’s rating.
    Disc Format
Choose the type of disc you want to burn: Audio CD; MP3 CD; or Data CD or DVD.
    Gap Between Songs
Choose the amount of silence, if any, between songs.
    Use Sound Check
To have all songs on the disc play at the same volume, select this option.
    Include CD Text
To include information that CD players in some vehicles can display, select this option.

  • How to burn a dvd with both Mac and Windows files

I have a DVD that has both Mac and Windows formatted files. When the DVD is mounted only Mac formatted files show. I want to burn a DVD copy containing both formatted files. How do I do that? Thanks in advance.

Correction! It is a CD and there are two partitions with Mac and Windows files.

  • Burned a dvd, works on mac not on pc

I burned a dvd. originally a .mov file. but pc based media players are not reading it as a dvd.
I didnt do anything special to the DVD. I made it as basic as it gets. I need to burn something today that can play in anything without a problem, whether its windows media player or the appl edvd player or a real dvd player for a tv.
Thanks so much. I also have several different file conversion softwares that I can use if starting with .mov is a bad idea.
    Austin

What codec are you using for your .mov? Did you just Export a QuickTime Movie from FCP, or did you change the codec used?
All video DVDs are SD resolution.
If quality if a concern, then you can do one of two things. Change the resolution in FCP by creating a new Sequence at SD resolution and nesting your original Sequence into it. You then have to scale down and render the file. Then you Export a QuickTime Movie. Bring that into DVD SP, or better yet bring that into Compressor and create a MPEG-2 of the video and a AC3 of the audio and bring those into DVD SP.
Or you Export a QuickTime Movie from FCP at HD resolution, bring that into Compressor. Using the setting Best Quality 90 minutes, create a new setting that is the same but with Frame Controls on. Also create a new setting for Dolby 2.0 with the Dialog Normalization set to -31 and the Compression Preset set to None. Bring those files into DVD SP.

  • Problem Burning finished DVD

    Hi,
I'm having problems burning a finished project to DVD, I have traced the problem threw going back threw saved versions and thing the problem is the DVD menu tabs, I tried making the tabs bigger and that maybe the problem, can anyone think why that would be..
    Thanks

    That would make do difference.
Have you tried this, from the FAQs at the top of our forum?

  • Problem burning to DVD

I am trying to burn some photos to a DVD. I have them in a folder on my desktop and, using right click, selected burn folder.  It didn't work and I got the message:-
The disc can’t be burned, because the device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media.
I then tried inserting the blank DVD and dragging the files across from the photo folder.  This seemed to work i.e. I could see the photos (and they opened) on the DVD (from Finder) but, when I tried to eject the DVD, I had to burn these to the DVD and got the following error message:
The disc can’t be burned because an unexpected error occurred (error code 0x8002006E).
After the blank disk ejected I put it back in, but then the message said something about being unable to read the DVD.
I just want to burn some photos to DVD - any ideas what the problem is?
I am not a techie, so maybe it's just me!
    I have an iMac 27" late 2009
2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 processor
    Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)
    Thanks
    Gary

Hi Gary, that's an infamous problem on Macs.
Sometimes using a Cleaning CD helps, sometimes different Media, I have no luck with Sony, but Verbatim seems to work, also might try a slower burn speed using Burn.app...
    http://burn-osx.sourceforge.net/Pages/English/home.html
    Sometimes a PRAM Reset helps...
    CMD+Option+p+r...

In fact, do 3 in a row, takes a bit of time.

  • DVD backup for Mac OS Leopard

Hi, I'm new to mac, just transferring everything over from my windows machines.. but what I don't have is software to backup my movie DVDs.
Any suggestions for DVD cloning type software for Mac OS Leopard?

If you are talking about backing up purchased DVD movies... they are generally copyrighted and making backup copies is not permitted in the U.S. As your profile does not indicate where you are located... and copyright laws vary from country to country... you can use:
    Handbrake:

    MacTheRipper:
