Problems burning a workout video for it to work on my dvd player? help

I've just purchased ripped in 30 days by Jillian Michaels and I thought that I could burn it to a dvd and then watch it my tv but its not working. Any suggestions?

Tina, Unfortunately, videos purchased from the iTunes Store may not be burned to a DVD that will work in a normal DVD player.  They may only be burned to a data disc for backup purposes.  See below item (v) quoted from the Terms and Conditions.
In your case, you might want to consider purchasing a physical DVD.
USAGE RULES
You shall be authorized to use Products only for personal, noncommercial use.
(ii) You shall be authorized to use Products on five Apple-authorized devices at any time, except for Content Rentals (see below).
(iii) You shall be able to store Products from up to five different Accounts at a time on compatible devices, provided that each iPhone may sync ringtone Products with only a single Apple-authorized device at a time, and syncing an iPhone with a different Apple-authorized device will cause ringtone Products stored on that iPhone to be erased.
(iv) You shall be authorized to burn an audio playlist up to seven times.
(v) You shall not be entitled to burn video Products or ringtone Products.

  • I'm having serious problems with Lightroom plug in for Facebook not working on my iMac. Help!

It started about a month ago with LR4. I kept getting problems with not being able to publish to Facebook because of problems with the plug-in which had been working perfectly up to then. I had a run round that worked by disableing and reloading the plug in. I upgraded to LR5 but the problem persisted and in fact just became worse. I can no longer publish to facebook from LR. I deleted the LR app in facebook as someone advised but now I cannot re-authorise with Facebook. When I go to the "connect" buton nothing happens. This is a serious problem that may make me reluctantly abandon Lightroom if I cannot find a solution. Can anybody help?

According to the Lightroom Facebook page, Facebook broke it and Facebook has to fix it- there is no ETA.

  • How do I burn a slide show to a DVD which will work with my DVD player?

I've been able to create a slide show of photos with selected i-Tunes music.  I can create a file and burn it to a blank DVD R, but both a regular and Blu-Ray DVD players say the disk is incompatible.
Also, is there supposed to be a file under Events where you can keep other slide shows?

You need a video DVD authoring application like iDVD. Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  For iPhoto 9.4.3 and earlier select Size = Medium or Large. For iPhoto 9.5 and later selct 480p.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
NOTE: there are other video DVD authoring apps available thru the App Store.  However, they do not have the themes and professional appearance that iDVD provides.

    Hi,
There are many free software around but they normally come with a watermark unless you pay. You may want to try this:

  • HT1583 After the Burn, I tried to play the DVD on my iMac, but will not recognized the DVD.  It worked on my DVD player connected to my TV.  First time it happened. ok.

After  completing the Burn process, I tried to play the same DVD to the same computer, but did not recognized the DVD media.  It worked ok on the DVD player connected to my TV.  I've been burning DVD for a quite a awhile, this is the first time it happened.

    Hi
    This usually depends on
    • BURN SPEED - not set down to x2 or max x4 - BEST IS N OT BEST - it gives max burn errors = BAD DVD
    • Brand of DVD used - MeMorex, NoName etc are known problem makers - I only use Verbatim
    • Type of DVD used - DVD+/-RW and DVD+R and DL-DVDs - can give a variety of problems - I only use SL-DVD-R
    • Low free space on the Start-Up (Macintosh HD) Hard Disk - also gives bad result
    - interlaced SD-Material (as on old CRT-TV (tube)) - I never go less than 25Gb
    - HD-material - then 4 - 5 times more seems to be a good safe minimum.

  • Setting Floating Windows for Apps Such As Safari or DVD Player.

Is there a way to have a window in Safari, DVD Player or any other application be floating above other app windows? By this I mean I wish to have a window of Youtube, Netflix or a DVD Player movie float above all other windows while I work in other applications such as Word, Logic or Ableton Live.
It would be great if I could watch a movie or youtube video without the window going behind my other windows whilst I work. Right now I have to just resize multiple windows to view the media but that eliminates valuable screen real estate in my work applications.
Is there a hot key/shortcut to a window to make it float? A System Preference? Help me out friends.

I believe afloat does just what you want

  • Problem burning backup system disk for 10.6

Finally appreciating the safety added by burning backups of my 10.6 system disks, I created a 7.6gb disk image on my desktop. I don't have Toast Titanium to span the data, so I used Slices to cut it into two files, letting each part fit a standard DVD.
Now, though, Disk Utility won't burn either of them to a DVD.
What am I missing in order to create backup 10.6 disks?
    Thanks,
    CB

In the line "DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW" the "DL" stands for double layer, so yes, you can burn (write to) DVD-R DL & DVD+R DL disks. Essentially all "SuperDrives" can.
Just FYI, the "DAO" stands for "disk at once," which means you can't burn a DVD & leave it "open" to write anything else to it later. "TAO" stands for "track at once" which means (for CD's only) you can write more than one volume to one CD, until you "close" it with a DAO write.
For DVD's, the closest you can come to TAO is to use -RW or +RW discs, which can be erased -- but the Superdrive doesn't support rewritable DL discs -- I'm not even sure such things exist.
The nomenclature is arcane, so don't feel like the only one who is oblivious to its meaning. It took me a long time to figure this out.

  • IChat video and audio not working (yep, me too). Help? Help!? etc. :)

I'm not here to start a rant about Apple or iChat AV. Before 10.4.4, my mate and I had some great chats on iChat AV. He had a cam attached to his Mac and I could see the video absolutely fine. We used to do audio chat, too. It worked fine.
Now we're both on 10.4.4 and I've got a built-in iSight on my new iMac. Obviously, I want to try out some 2-way video now. It won't work for me, though.
We can text chat, we can send files. We can't use audio chat anymore and neither can we use video. It's the old 'did not respond' problem.
Nothing has changed in my setup, connection-wise. I've got a healthy broadband connection which is connected to a BT Voyager 250 modem. Connected to this, via ethernet, is my Airport Express.
I've tried eliminating the Airport Express from the setup, but it makes no difference in this case.
I don't really know a lot about port forwarding and telnet sessions, so... be gentle. Hopefully someone here can help get it working.
    Many thanks,

  • Trouble burning a DVD for a DVD player

I am fairly new to Mac so forgive my ignorance but I am having the hardest time burning a DVD-RW in such a way that it will be readable by a DVD player.  I have a blu-ray player that can read MP3 and MP4 and still I get a message that says it cannot play the disc.  I have tried using Disk Utility, Burn, and iPhoto Slideshow Export.
It works perfectly fine for both Mac and PC computers but not for a DVD player.  What are the options?

Have you checked your DVD player that it can actually read DVD-RW? Some cannot. Just out of curiosity - why would you burn to a re-writable disk?
If it is a video/slideshow, then you do need authoring/burn software such as Burn or Roxio Toast in order to burn it in a format DVD players can handle. Finder cannot burn a video/slideshow which will playable in a DVD player.

  • IDVD 5 takes approximate 5 to 6 hours to burn 1hr 55min video

I downloaded 1hr 55min video from my miniDV. I added titles, transitions, etc. When I finally burn it on DVD using the iDVD 5 program it takes somewhere around 5 to 6 hours. Is that normal? Is there any place you can select the speed you would like to burn? I figured once it is already "rendered" and complete, it should take an hour to burn 2 hour video at 2X speed, no?
Please explain and help if possible.
Thank you. Anil Dalia. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to all

I'll add some detail to John's suggestion about creating a disk image; which I always do.
    File/Save As Disc Image...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=164927
This will isolate any encoding/burning issues you may encounter. Once the disc image is created, double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that should appear on your desktop, using Toast to burn the DVD. Disk Utility to burn the .img file. Usually, you can select a burning speed in Disk Utility.
There are variations to this process based on which OS X you are using...
Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in Applications folder), click on the virtual disc (maybe the .img) in the left-hand window. Click the Burn icon. A new window should drop down and your SuperDrive tray will open after clicking the Burn icon. Insert a recordable DVD. (Verbatim DVD-R preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait. Select a burn speed. Then click the Burn button.
-->If the virtual disk selection won't allow you to click the Burn icon, use the .img file instead. This may have changed in 10.3.9 and did change in Tiger.
Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk to check your iDVD 5 project before burning to DVD. Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD Media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio disks.)
