Problems burning discs after Itunes 75 upgrade

I upgraded to itunes 75 and was immediately unable to burn playlists. Has anyone experienced and resolved this problem?
How can I get adn go back to an older itunes version?

i have the same problem im told lowing burn speeds can help, also try making a new playlist to burn, sometimes the list is somehow corrupted. You wont be able to go back to the old i-tunes but its likely to get resolved with the next update.

  • Not able to burn discs after itunes upgrade...HELP!

I've never had any issues with burning cds from my Mac and iTunes until yesterday. I've tried two different brands of CD-R discs (HP and Verbatim) and one CD-RW (Fujifilm). The CD-Rs initialize for a minute, then give me the following message: "The attempt to burn a disc failed. The device failed to respond properly, unable to record or retry." I discussed with another Mac user who said the same thing so she tried CD-RWs and it worked. I burned 10 of the 12 songs successfully-the last two ("Thriller" by MJ and "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" by Benetar if you must know) were of poor quality-cutting in and out, skipping a lot.
Of course, I need to burn 28 by tomorrow morning for a U10 Girls Softball Nationals gift bag...Any assistance or advice is appreciated.
I feel like if I could just uninstall the newest version of iTunes that I'd be okay. Not sure if that is the right path and not sure how to do it.
    Thanks!

Me again. Figuring that I probably had too much stuff in my iTunes library taking up space, I went through and trashed a whole bunch of stuff. I emptied the trash, restarted the computer and am still unable to burn CDs. I figure it must be a problem with the latest iTunes update. Can anyone help?

  • Issues burning discs on iTunes/ error message about burn speed

I've never had problems burning discs on iTunes until today, I tried to burn one of my playlists on a Memorex CD-R.
    - The burn seemed to be going OK at first, but the drive started making an obnoxious, loud noise by the 4th song out of 16.
    - The progress bar in iTunes then said "burning disc, finalizing" even though the CD had not been finished.
    - The drive practically launches the CD out, causing it to drop, rather than ejecting half way and holding it like usual. An error message came up saying something along the lines of, "iTunes cannot burn this CD because the burn speed is too high for the CD drive or media. Lower the burn speed in the burning pane of preferences"
    - I tried it again without changing the burn speed (which I suppose was set to maximum) thinking it was something to do with the disc. The same thing happened the second time I tried to burn the disc. The reason I didn't change the burn speed when it asked me to was because I'd never been prompted about the burn speed and I've used the whole stack of these Memorex CD's without problems.
I am trying to figure out where the problem really lies - does this sound like an iTunes issue (which needs an update except that my system does as well), CD issue or a drive issue? Is there a more reasonable burn speed I should try next time?
Any help would be so appreciated, thank you!!

Try a different brand. Highly recommended:
    FUJI
    TDK
    Verbatim
Make sure the CDs are not dirty, smudged and/or scratched.

  • Can't burn Disc from iTunes after Microsoft fix

Okay ... long process to get iTunes working and I am almost there. Here is the saga ...
I upgraded to iTunes 6.0 and after the upgrade neither of my CD/DVD drives would work. After surfing the internet, I found the solution on Microsoft.com, which was to delete some specific upper and lower filters from the registry and then reboot the computer. I did this and everything worked great. I was able to use iTunes and both my CD/DVD drives worked. But now .... I cannot burn any discs from iTunes, (I can burn from other places), it says,"cannot find recording disc" It will let me upload CDs into iTunes. Here is my CD diagnostics:
Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)
Dell Computer Corporation Precision WorkStation 350
    iTunes 6.0.4.2
    CD Driver 2.0.4.3
    CD Driver DLL 2.0.3.2

IDE\CdRomNEC_DVD+RW_ND-1100A____________________10GE___, Bus Type ATA, Bus Address [1,0]
If you have multiple drives on the same IDE or SCSI bus, these drives may interfere with each other.
Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.

Failed loading CD / DVD drives, error -43. Try doing a repair install on iTunes from the "Add or Remove Programs" control panel.
The last failed audio CD burn had error code -128(0xffffff80). It happened on drive on -128(0xffffff80) media at speed 0X.

    hi TwinMom!
hmmmm. was this the solution you used?
(MS) CD-ROM access is missing and messages cite error Code 31, Code 32, Code 19, Code 39, or Code 41 after you remove Easy CD Creator in Windows XP
i've seen a few follow up problems after applying that technique ... but usually they tend to involve this error message:
"Warning! The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs & DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
what you're getting is still consistent with that (in a sense), because you don't have any itunes-related filter entries showing up in your diagnostics.
so, let's start trying some techniques that have a reasonable track record against that error -43 that's showing up in your CD diagnostics.
first, try a reboot and repair. reboot the PC (very important), and then do a repair install of itunes. go to your Add/Remove programs, select itunes, click "change/remove" and then select "repair".
does that get rid of the -43?
can you burn a CD after doing that?

  • IPhone Sync Problems with VISTA After iTunes Upgrade to 7.4

Upon upgrading to iTunes 7.4 I was unable to sync my Outlook calendar or contacts to the iPhone. Called Apple Support that they seemed to know nothing about this problem general problem despite all of the discussions on this and many other tech. boards.
After being told remove and reinstall iTunes and Outlook, set-up a new user account, etc... (none of which worked) I finally concluded that perhaps the .pst file being used by outlook was simply incompatible with iTunes for some reason (e.g. unsupported recurring calendar items).
SOLUTION: Create a new outlook .pst data file. Once created, open up that new file along with the defective .pst file. Then, simply change the view of calendars and contacts in your old calendar such that you can see all of the items in a list. Highlight the items you want to keep and simply click-and-drag them to the nes .pst file. This solves all of the sync. problems I had post-7.4 upgrade. It takes less than 3 minutes to complete this painless fix.
This was so annoying for me that I'd be happy to help someone complete this simple task if they need help. < Edited by Host, for your protection, no personal information please. >

  • Can't burn disc via iTunes. Burn speed too fast. AGAIN!

"iTunes can't burn this CD because the burn speed is too fast for your CD burner or media. Choose a lower speed in the burning pane of iTunes Preferences then try burning again".
I have been having on going problems burning CD’s in iTunes for YEARS, and I know I am not the only one. I get the error message above. Having checked the forum at the time, and posted for help, I am know there is no real solution except to change brand of disc.
Thing is, now I can’t get ANY brands to work. I’ve been through Verbatim, Maxell, JVC, Sony, but none work. The only brand that would work were TDK audios which I can no longer find anywhere.
I know its not the burner, as Toast works fine, and I know I am not alone. Anyone got any ideas?
Even after years Apple seem to be blanking this question. It’s very frustrating not being able to burn my purchased itunes downloads to disc.

To anyone who is interested I think I may have found a possible solution. When you put a blank disc in the drive, wait about 30-60 seconds or so for it to stop spinning before burning.
This seems to work. It's a bit sticky but eventually works. I tried both TDK & Maxwell discs and 9 out of 11 worked. Absolutely no reason why the other 2 didn't, but it's a lot better than none.

  • Can't Burn disc in itunes 8.1

I have been searching high and low for an answer to this problem. all i get is a message that says "disc burner or software ot found".
I have tried editing registry, deleting .sys files. Nothing has worked.
Any answer to this problem would be helpful at this stage

I am having the same problem after the update to 8.1. It just happened that the first thing I tried after the update was burning a disc. Result: "disc burner or software not found."
So I tried running the CD Diagnostics (Help/Run Diagnostics) I followed the directions and inserted a prerecorded Audio CD. And it says "No Audio CD detected." But after I close the diagnostics iTunes recognized the CD, retrieved the titles and asked me if I wanted to import the songs!
So, I played the CD, which worked. Then I imported the songs; success! Then I ran the diagnostics again - "No Audio CD detected."
Very odd. I also would appreciate any answers that can be given to Biscuits' question.

  • Problems burning disc on mac

I bought some 700mb, 80 minute empty discs to create a playlist for a friend, first off, I inserted the disc and highlighted all the songs I wanted in iTunes (31) and dragged them onto the disk, It then bought up a window for the disk with all the songs in place, and in the order I wanted them in. So I went ahead and pressed burn disc and it done so, I then put it in a cd player to test it, where I discovered there were only 28 of the 31 songs I chose, and they were not in the order I put them in by, frustrated I took another CD and tried a different method, burning the disc direct from the playlist on iTunes. Here it did not allow me to burn as many, only 22 intact, but I did so anyway, and had the same problem, only 18 of 22 were on the disc and they were muddled again, is there anyway to resolve this to get as many songs as possible and make sure they all go on, and in order!? thanks

Put the songs you want into a regular iTunes playlist, in the order you want them.
Make sure the play time is comfortably under 80 minutes.  Aim for 75 minutes or less.
Make sure all the files are accessible on your hard drive and are playable.  Not missing, and not in the cloud.
Then do the burn, setting disc format to "audio CD."

  • Problems burning disc

Made slideshow in iPhoto(5) sent to iDVD to burn. After I made the dvd I played in my dvd player and 2/3 rds the way thru the music failed? It played OK in preview( actually I made 2 seperate slide shows 1 worked fine the other didn't). I check this site out and read to test as a disc image tried to do that but it keeps stalling at the end just before it finishes and I have to force quit. What can I do??

Thanks for the advice-I will check this out. So even though the music is OK in the slideshow preview the loss of music in the burned dvd could be from iTunes? WOW. I seem to be playing around more-ie jumping through hoops( like making one long songs out of many songs in Garage and buring cd's and going back to iTunes)than I thought I would have to with my Mac. I have another post in iMovie where my project of many days just disappeared in my external HD so if I sound a little frustrated I guess I am.But thansk for the advice and I will let know what happens

  • Problems Burning Disks after OS Update

I've been working on a photo project with tens of thousands of image files. As I've been working through this project, I've been burning pictures to CD-ROMs. I'm using standard 700 MB CD-R disks, and until now I've been able to fit about 3,500-4,000 files on each disk, or a total size of about 640-660 MB. I've burned ten CD-ROMs this way in the past year.
Last night I was prompted for an automatic update from OS 10.4.9 to OS 10.4.10, which I did. After the computer updated and restarted, something automatically launched itself from the dock, gave the following unusual message which immediately aroused my suspicion: UPDATING HL-DT-ST DVDRW 6 WA 4080 MA TO BE39 ...
This was as far as I was able to copy before the process finished and the screen disappeared. Another part of the message said not to interrupt the installation or else I could end up with a non-functioning device.
Then the computer restarted itself. A second time the application started itself from the dock but said there weren't any drivers needing updating.
This is the first time in 13.5 years of using Macs that I've ever had to update a driver, and I was very suspicious since it did it all automatically without my authorization.
I restarted the computer again, and the application launched a third time, so I hunted it down and deleted it. It was some sort of driver utility (I wish I'd written down its name). After this, everything seemed to work fine until I went to burn a CD last night.
First, the finder looked slightly different, with new buttons and layout specific to burning a CD. Second, the disk appeared on the desktop with the extension .fbpf, though it had never had an extension before. Third, when I dragged the files to be copied into the Finder window, it just created shortcuts instead of copying the files. I had to do a command-c and a command-v to get them in there. Not all of the files would show up in the finder window, but if I did a command-v again it would ask if I wanted to overwrite them. Fourth, I had 640 MB of files, but it said there wasn't enough room, that the files to be copied were larger than the disk.
Eventually I removed files until it said there was enough room, so I burned the disk. The first attempt produced a disk with half the files missing. The second attempt produced a disk with only 2,007 files and a total size of 399.8 MB. This was wasting about 40% of space on the CD. When I looked at the CD, however, it appeared that the burn had gone nearly to the edge of the disk, instead of about 60% of the way, so something is filling up that space it seems. But what?
My immediate suspicion was the driver update related to the OS update, so I did some researched and realized that OS 10.4.10 is causing tons of problems for lots of people, so I decided to revert to OS 10.4.9.
I performed an archive install back to OS 10.4.8, got rid of the old system folder, and downloaded the update to 10.4.9. Disk Utility returned no errors. I finished that this morning, but the disk burning problem remains, and the Finder even froze up during this process.
My guess is that reverting to a previous OS did not fix whatever changes were made to the driver, but I'm not sure how I should proceed here. I'm also wondering if this is more generally related to OS 10.4, because I cannot recall burning a data CD like this since I upgraded from OS 10.3 (but backing up purchased audio files from iTunes was the same as always).
Does anyone have any suggestions here? (I'd prefer not to have to reformat the drive and restore everything from back-up and original install disks because that takes about six hours.)

    Thanks Carolym for your response.
Go to System Preferences/Accounts/Login Items. Delete any
    applications you have listed.
I did this; there were four applications including the driver update software that self-installed last night. Who knew it was still lurking around after being deleted?
But, after restarting, the problem persists.
Is this a SuperDrive that can also burn to DVD? If
    so, read here; http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/feedback/
    superdrivefw_update2.1.html
    Yes, it is.
This page didn't make any sense to me. Were these posts by people installing the update or removing it? That page seems to refer to the update that happened last night, which seems to have started my problems. Can you elaborate on this?
I've replicated this on both my internal drive and an external drive connected by FireWire. I've never had problems with this media before. The alsoft.com site is apparently off-line today.
The entire problem seems to be software related. The size discrepancy between what's reported by the "Burn Disk" Finder window is now TWICE the size reported on the "Get Info" window. It's as if it is reading the contents to be burned twice when calculating their size.
The files I want to put on a disk are 640.5 MB. Everything on my computer says this, except the Finder window for the disk. At the bottom of the window it reports the files are over 1,291 MB in size, which is too large to fit on the 700 MB disk. But when I select the files in that same finder window with command-i, it says 640.5 MB.
For kicks, I put the disk I burned last night through Disk Utility. It showed the 400.5 MB of files on the 700 MB Disk. So, there was about 260 MB of space wasted on that disk. When I burned the disk last night, the computer was thinking the files were about 660 MB (which is the most it has ever allowed me to write to a disk). Disk Utility also said the disk was burned in Mac format, and I was under the impression this computer was burning to ISO format.
Is there some setting somewhere that perhaps I'm overlooking that writes the disks a certain way and that could be the cause? Could it be a memory issue/allocation/buffer size/etc issue? Something else?
