Problems changing location

I have an account with the Apple Store online - [email protected] As far as the Apple store is concerned, I'm Amercan. They accept that my AmEx card is registered in New York, and allow me to buy goods there, delivering them to my NY office. This is fine.
I also have an account with the iTunes store - [email protected] They do NOT believe that I am American. They think I'm British. The SAME credit card is NOT registered in the US as far as iTunes is concerned.
More frustratingly, iTunes will not allow me to sign in as [email protected] - the ID that the Apple Store recognises. Tells me that the name isn't recognised. But if I try to set it up as a new account, iTunes tells me that the Apple ID is already in use.
I have been emailing Apple support for over a week. The best that they could come up with was that I bought iTunes gift certificates at the US store, and then email them to myself. In the absence of a customer services department to whom I would like to complain, I wondered if other customers have had the same problem?

Thanks for your reply. I did as you suggested. And I imported a few photos that I was having trouble changing the location on.
Some strange things happened and I am really at a loss...
The photos imported with no location at all (i.e. the old location that I was trying to change was not in each photo). Therefore, when I clicked on info, I was prompted to "assign a location", which I did. I then proceeded to modify the location numerous times (single and batch). With all tests the location change worked. I noticed that when doing this (changing the location by typing over a location - in the fields that appeared in the drop box below, there was small type that indicated something like "renaming the location"). I did not get this before.
I then went into my original library, to the same photos that I was having trouble modifying and that "renaming location" indication now appeard. I of course then made the location change I wanted to this single photo. The strange thing was that as soon as I did this, all of the other photos in the event reverted back to the location changes that I spent hours doing the other day. The changes were not subtle (e.g. this morning locations in all photos indicated "bali", and now the photos have specific different town names in them, which is what I spent hours doing the other day).
I am happy but at a complete loss to what is going on. I guess your tip seemed to trigger something?

Problem changing location of Deleted email

I've got my iPhone setup to use my imap server. Everything works well so far, have all the folders displayed, and things look good.
I can't seem to change the location of the Deleted Emails though. Whenever I go into advanced options, click "Deleted Mailbox" the setup crashes and goes back to the home screen.
I was able to change the location of Sent email, but now when I click that button it also crashes.
Is this a known issue with the iPhone? Or does anyone have a workaround?

I had a problem with the Mail app crashing whenever I'd try sending email from a Yahoo account. A reboot fixed it, so you might try that. Or you might try resetting your iPhone, though you'll need to reconfigure certain aspects of it.

Library change location problem

Hello everyone, i make 2 partitions on my HD and im trying to move the itunes library to the second partition wich is the biggest 200GB, i have done everything by the book itunes/preferences/advanced/change location/new folder on my second partition called iTunes music/consolidate library/trash the old itunes folder from the music folder, but when i open itunes again there is no music at all, i tried several times the same procedure and the same thing happened, please help

Did you trash the entire 'old' iTunes folder?
If so, then you also trashed the 'iTunes Library' file which holds all your information about the songs.
If iTunes can't find that file it makes a new (empty) one.
If you did not empty the trash yet, put that file at it's original location (replacing the new one) and run iTunes again.
If you already emptied the trash, you might be able to recover it by using a data recovery program.

I have 2 residences each with a printer. When I move from one place to another and try to print I always have to make sure the correct printer is shown in the print window. What can I do to make one change on my MacBook Pro when I change locations so I am not bothered with this nuisance problem?

There was a way from OS9 location manager to set a default printer for any given location. This is not the case in OSX.
You can however, easily change the default printer in Terminal.app with lpoptions -d PRINTERNAME. To view all the printers type lpstat -p. Keep in mind that the name in lpstat -p may be a little different than the name in Printer Setup Utility. You must use the lpstat -p, PRINTERNAME when changing it in Terminal.app. Of course, if the names are the same, you don't need to worry about it.

Crash on changing Locations (MBP / 10.5.1)

Leopard has worked well for me apart from one persistent problem: it crashes occasionally when I change network locations. I have an 802.11g network at home, with a location called Home with Airport on and everything else disabled. I then have a location for work which has Ethernet enabled and everything else off, and a different proxy setting. When I get to work I plug my MBP into an external monitor and USB hub and wake it from sleep - so far so good. I then change location from "Home" to work via the Apple menu and the mouse pointer freezes and I have to force a reboot.
This happened as soon as I changed to 10.5, and it has also happened again this morning after updating to 10.5.1.
I have tried deleting these network locations and recreating them from scratch and the problem persists. I would like to delete the plist file which stores these settings - can anyone tell me what it is?
The machine doesn't crash when turning Airport on or off, or changing from work to home, although it did crash once when I tried to delete the work location from the Network pref pane. That's what led me to think I should delete the file which stores it.
Permissions and volume repair show no problems. Thanks for any insights!

I have EXACTLY the same problem with both of my macbook pros (the newest is 2.4GHz, both running 10.5.1).
One more fact. When I get to work, the computer automatically connects with our wireless system. Everything is fine, until I use location manager to switch locations to "work", which does not include a wireless option, just an Ethernet option with a fixed IP address. After I reboot, I can switch locations to "work", and everything works fine.
More recently, I've used a different approach that does seem to avoid the crashes. When I get to work, the first thing I do after waking from sleep is to turn off Airport. After doing this, I change locations to work. No crashes after doing this for about a week.
If anyone knows of a better way to solve the problem (e.g., removing bad files that migrated with me from earlier software versions), please let me know.

Changing location of Iphoto library

I am looking to change my Iphoto library to an external hard drive, as my 250GB internal drive is just not large enough, especially as I am now using itunes to watch movies and TV shows. Is this a simple operation? The help menu has instruction on changing location but I am worried this just refers to a different folder within the internal hard drive.
Anyone got any suggestions

It's very simple.
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

i have a probleme changing the value of a variable in movieclip from my scene. i explain: I have combobox on my scene containing categories, and in the scene i load an xml file containing links to php files that work with the combobox.
Also on the scene i have a movieclip "filmstrip", inside this movieclip on the first frame i have a script loading the php file selected in the scene . i use a load() function with a variable "theUrl" inside like this : T.load(theUrl);.
In my scene i want to change the value of "theUrl" inside the movieClip filmstrip. I tried filmstrip.theUrl = url; But it doesnt work

After more digging in the Support section here and some Google work, I turned off iTunes Match and lo and behold! I can change the media kind to Audiobook! So, it looks like iTunes Match locked the files up somehow and for some reason.
I went into iTunes Store > iTunes Match > "No, Thanks" to disable it on the local PC.

Problem changing SQL data source at runtime with VB6 and CR XI

We have several VB6 programs using CR XI and are able to pass a DSN to change data source with Access DB that works just fine.
We are using similar code in another program to change the data source in an SQL DB and get an error... Failed to Open the Connection.
This is a sample of what works with Access but not SQL DB:

Hi Carole,
When using SQL types you need more than just the DSN name. CR does keep the password in the report file and all SQL types are usually password protected.
Try this simple code:
First log onto the server:
rpt.database.LogOnServerEx("crdb_odbc.dll, pServerName, [pDatabaseName], [pUserID], [pPassword], [pServerType], [pConnectionString])
The ConnectionString is the complete line. Run in debug mode and display what the reprot is using and you can see the format it requires.
Once logged on now you can set the location for each table:

Everything works fine, my wifi connection but suddenly in upper left corner sign "no service"appeared. But connection works to Internet, anyway. (I changed location recently from USA to Europe.

Do you have a 3G/4g iPad?
I believe the no service warning is the iPad telling you you are not connected to a cell network.
Turn off mobile data.

Problem changing AppleID Name

Hello,
I am having problems changing my AppleID name. On Apple ID summary, it shows my moms name. Before I was 18 the billing information was under her name. Now I have changed it to my information. When I go to "Account Details" it shows my information, but when I go back to Apple ID summary, it still showers her name. How do i fix this or who can I talk to, to get this changed?
