Problems combining rolls
Apologies in advance, because this seems to be a FAQ, but none of the answers I found by searching are definitive. I am running iPhoto 6.0.6 (322) & I am having a hard time combining rolls.
From searching these forums, I have made sure that the library is selected, and that all the years are ticked. However, still when I select two rolls and try to combine them, I might be able to choose Create New Roll or it might be grayed out - there's no way to know in advance. Then the answer is to select some photos here and there, do various other things, and then go back, and see if it's now possible. This is hardly very satisfactory.
I also saw mention of a bug with the Helvetica font, so I used Font Book to disable and re-enable this, but it didn't help. Is there basically a bug in this function, or is there a very precise sequence of things which I have to do to make it work consistently?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You cannot combine two rolls by select the roll icons and using the menu option. You need to select the photos in each roll and then the menu option will be availalbe.
If you're combining two complete rolls try selecting the photos from one roll ande dragging and dropping on the the roll icon of the destination roll. Then your can rename the combined roll in the Info window at the bottom of the Source pane.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

I am having problems combining 2 pdf's together. When I do it crashes Acrobat XI. The files are fairly large about 20Mb each if that helps. Others have been able to combine them without issue. Any Ideas?
My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now. About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

Cannot combine rolls by drag and drop in Iphoto6
I used to be able to drag one roll and drop it into another roll to combine them. I find now that when I select a roll the window pops up indicating I have picked it up but rolling it over another roll does not light up the roll I'm trying to move photos to.
I can't find any preference settings that seem to affect it. I know I have done it in the past and my Iphoto handbook describes it as one of the features of Iphoto.
Can anyone suggest what the problem might be?John:
When you select and begin to drag the roll or photos do you get a white number in a red circle representing the number of photos? If not, launch Font Book and see if you have the Helvetica font installed. If it is, try deactivating it and the reactivate.
Also you can drag a closed roll onto another closed roll and get them to combine.

A big problem: camera roll doesn't work
I cannot use the default "camera" to take photo. When I press the "taking photo" button or "volume + " button, the "camera" app would turn off and as a result return to the background.
I cannot really delete the photos in the camera roll as well. When I delete a photo in camera roll, it temporarily can. But when I close the "camera roll" and open again, the deleted photo appears again.
I cannot use ("power button" + "home button") to capture the screen as the screen picture captured will not appear in the camera roll.
I tried to turn the phone off and turn it on again, but the problem is still there.
In the "setting" --> "General" --> "About my phone", under "video" and "photo" categories, Normally, they would display the numbers which states respectively how many videos and photos that I have in my camera roll. But now they both display "2,147,483,647".
Before, I have connected the phone to the computer using USB wire in order to import the photos from the phone to the computer. I don't know whether this caused the problem.
How can I fix it? Please help.
Can restoration help? I used iCould to backup. Can I restore all the data and setting, including all the data in all the apps ?

PS: I am using iPhone 4 and iOS 5.Your Camera Roll is corrupted. I don't know why or how, but if you can't delete any photos from it and it doesn't import photos via the cable about the only thing you can do is restore the phone.

Reformatting problems combining multiple indesign docs
My daughter's school newspaper has 24 pages. Each page is laid out using InDesign and is a separate document. When all the pages are done, they combine all 24 pages into one big InDesign doc. But when they do this, some pages will randomly reformat the text, adding spaces, changing line breaks, etc. They then have to go through the whole thing and re-do all the changes that occurred when the pages were combined. Does anyone know what settings should be in place so that this random reformating problem does not happen?

another if you have identically named styles the definition in the ID doc
that is being added to takes over.

Problem combining PDFs in Acrobat 9.1
Folks,
I'd appreciate some help with the following problem. Maybe I'm simply being a nong -- always possile -- if so, please be gentle with me!
I have a document that was saved with each page as a separate PDF, and I need to combine them into one -- obviously, in the correct order.
The only way I know to do this is to open either the first or last page, then go to Document | Insert Pages | From File ... (I'm using Windows XP), and select the range of pages in the selection box. Then I tell Acrobat to insert them after the existing first page, or before the page if I have the last page opened, and it does so.
Everything seems to go without a hitch, but no matter how I select them, or what options I choose in the dialogue box just before their inserted, they're always inserted in reverse order.
The PDF files have their page number in the file name, so they appear in the dialogue box in the correct order. But how do I get them to be inserted into the existing PDF in the correct ascending order?
Or do I have to insert them manually, one at a time? Surely not?

I went back to Acrobat, and thought "wait a minute ... Combine !!" I guess sometimes you just need to ask the question, get it out of your thoughts, for the answer to show up. I was on my way here to post that I'd solved it, but you beat me to it.

Problem combining files into a single PDF

I wonder if anyone has experienced this. Everytime I try to combine various pdfs into a single one, Acrobat Pro seems to crash or get stuck no dialogue window will come up and the only thing I can see is what I circled in red:

Thanks for your reply. The error ocurrs even before I manage to choose files, the Combine Files into a Single PDF window doesn't even come up when I click on it from the menu. It is definitely not a problem with the files.

A Problem with Rolling forecast
Hi Experts,
Currently i have a problem in the Query Designer. Any help or suggestion will be very much appreciated.
The system that we have is BI 7.
What we want to have is a rolling forecast for the Profit and Loss Account.
It means that we will lock the previous periods against changes and open the coming periods for planning. In the query all 12 months have to be displayed.
For that purpose, I created 1 structure with 2 selections.
The 2 selections are
1. Closed Periods, which restricted to 0fiscper 001.2007-003.2007
2. Open periods, which restricted to 0fiscper 004.2007-012.2007.
Then I drill it down with 0fiscper so that I can see 12 months.
The problem is now that when I do not surpress the zeros, then I will see 2 times 12 months instead of only 12 months.
But on the other hand, I cannot surpress zero since I also want to see and be able to do planning on the zero values accounts (for example on the open periods).
Does anyone know how to solve this problem, so that I only see 12 months in my query, but also be able to see zero values on the open periods?
Otherwise, does anyone have any other solution to solve the rolling forecast? (any links or documentation?)

In the new BI Integrated, we can close and open the periods by put the indicator for close and open periods on the query designer.
The report that I am aiming for will look like this:
Closed Periods Open Periods
January February March April May June July ...... December
For that I created 1 Structure with 2 Selections.
The selections is restricted as follows:
Closed Periods --> 0fiscper 001.2007-003.2007
Open Periods ---> 0fiscper 004.2007-012.2007
and then I drill it down with 0fiscper.
But instead of giving me the periods that I restricted it gave me the following:
Closed Periods Open Periods
January February March January February March

if you just want to quit your vi (and LabView) you can place the "Exit LabView" inside the "stop value changed" case of the event structure. But this is not a good way to stop a vi (this will interrupt communication with devices and so on).
If you need this blinking led you can put the while loop into your main vi (EBTS_13.vi) parallel to the other while loop. It's just a signal the vi is still running?

Problem in Rolling to new a log file only when it exceeds max size (Log4net library)

I am using log4net library to create log files.
My requirement is roll to a new log file with name appended with timestamp only when file size exceeds max size (file name ex: log_2014_12_11_12:34:45 etc).
My config is as follow

Issue is date time is not appending to file name.
But if i set "Rolling style" as "Date or composite", file name gets appended with timestamp, but new file gets created before reaching max file size.(Because file gets created whenever date time changes, which i dont want) .
Please help me in solving this issue?

I use Windows 7 Professional. I have been informed that I need to update my Acrobat 10.1.11 to 10.1.12 but each time I try I am told that there is a problem and I should contact my patch supplier! My patch supplier is Adobe but there is no way of asking them for help. What should I do? Do I need to completely remove Adobe Acrobat 10.1.11 and then re-intsall from the DVD and then try again or should I just leave my existing version 10.1.11 which works fine??

Also when I went to Control Panel and selected the program menu and then selected the Acrobat X Pro, the only options are Organise, Uninstall or Change. But not Repair??

Problems combining 2 pages into 1
OK, we have our department letterhead as a .pdf file (created in MS Office and saved as .pdf) and we have a fillable fax coversheet form created in Adobe Acrobat 9.0 and LiveCycle Designer and saved as a .pdf. We need to combine these two into one document, with the end result being the form fields of the fax coversheet appearing on the letterhead template. However, I cannot copy/paste between forms; I cannot import any graphics into the fax coversheet via LiveCycle to have the logo appear; and I cannot determine any other way to get these two forms into one.
Can anyone help me with this? We really don't want to start over from scratch - and if we do, what do we do differently?

SusanMy guess is that you are dealing with two different form types. The letterhead pdf needs to be imported into Designer so you have the same form types. Then you shoudl be able to copy and past between them. You can import the letterhead PDF or the word file into Designer.

I have tried every single solution i could come up with.
But nothing worked.
My latest idea is to include a comment in the query and set up an ON SELECT trigger which evaluates the comment and enforeces the lock.
But i'm not sure if this is even possible.
I cannot split the statement into two because i need the lock immediately when the wanted rows are selected.
One major criteria for the rows is the order by. Without it i get a random set of rows.
And the rownum <= 10 is also needed because i don't want to lock the whole table but only the few needed rows.
I tried row_number() over (order by ...) but this is considdered a window/group-function which disallows the for update as well as the order by.
During these tests i noticed, that when using the row_number()-function the resultset is ordered automatically (without an additional order by clause).
But this doesn't help anyway.
I tried using piped functions to wrap the select to apply the rownum manually by cursor skip, but this doesn't work either. First of all i wasn't able to wrap the query the way i imagined and second the lock would be applied to the whole resultset anyway but only the reduced rows would be returned.
I heared about LOCK-hints from other DBs, is there anything similar here?
Any other solution??

Use limit 5 in your tests, and you will also notice that the following doesn't work either:

I need to expand the following Statement to the above form by (Java-) Code:

The main problem is:
The order by clause needs to be duplicated.
The problem here is, to identify it (if present) and NOT any order by in inner selects.
I am using Hibernate and to implement this i have to modify the OracleDialect to solve this problem. I get the statement-A (see above) and have to apply the limit.
Isn't there any other solution??

Having problems combining PDF files with electronic signatures...
I have Adobe Pro XI and I've been trying to combine numerous PDF files. They are each 2 pages and contain electronic signatures. When I attempt to combine them it appears to be working and then suddenly Adobe just closes with no error message or anything??
Think about it: You sign a document and then someone adds some pages to it
and pretends you signed those as well. You wouldn't what that to happen,
would you? Well, with digital signatures it can be prevented.
