Problems configuring EM in 10g

I want to monitor an Oracle instance called "orcl" with Enterprise manager in 10g. But the problem is I'm not able to configure this SID. When I try emca it throws up following messages:
Jun 21, 2005 12:17:15 PM oracle.sysman.emcp.EMConfig checkConfiguration
SEVERE: Repository already exists. Fix the error(s) and run EM Configuration Assistant again in standalone mode.
Could not complete the configuration. Refer to the log file for details
Now when I go to the website and access the URL: http://hostname:5501/em/ I get the following page
Database: hostname
The database status is currently unavailable. It is possible that the database is in mount or nomount state. [But the instance is running I can connect thru SQLPLUS]
Even playing with the "Startup" button i'm unable to access the database.
Please help and suggest me how to configure EM.
-Many thanks
Sunil

There are some parts which do not look very consistent (refresh button is not always present), but for a webbased application the layout is ok. You'll never get the fancy stuff you have in a fat client, but you can work with it from everywhere, not just from your workstation where you have installed the fat client.
So, how about logging a TAR or an enhancement request about the things that could need some improvement?

    Thankyou for showing me direction.....
    You're welcome, but you had all the ideas, I just gave you permission to "suck it and see".
    There's a lesson in this... Try it... the worst thing that can (probably;-) possibly happen is "it won't work", so you try something else... that's what makes programming an adventure.
    And don't call me sir... I keep lookin over me shoulder to see who you're talking to ;-)

  • Configuring Forms Builder 10g to run (Ctrl-R) against application server

    I would like to run forms from my working directory against our development application server and config, rather than having a local OC4J running. I have configured this by setting the application server URL runtime preference to "http://<server>.<domain>:80/forms/frmservlet?config=dev". This works fine.
    However, when I run the Form, I get "FRM-40010: Cannot read form H:\Neil\TAF00180.fmx". This is because we open our FMBs from a locally mapped drive (i.e. I opened the FMB from H:\Neil\TAF00180.fmb). When run against the application server it seems Forms Builder trys to run an executable with the same path as the FMB - H:\Neil\TAF00180.fmx, but the application server has no knowledge of a mapped H-drive.
    The only solution I can think of is to have an H-drive mapped on the application server to the same location as our locally mapped network drive.
    This doesn't seem like the correct solution to me. How should we configure Oracle Forms 10g and the application server to allow us to run our own working versions against the applications server and config?

    Slava Natapov wrote:
    I guess Neil concern is that OC4J and Forms Server are using own formsweb.cfg and .env files
    And settings can be different.
    For example what if local formsweb.cfg configured to run Jinitiator, but server formsweb.cfg configured for JPI, or they configured with different lookandfeel parameter, or local and server default.env use different NLS_DATE_FORMAT?Hi Slava, Hi Neil
    I think this is more related to "discipline" for the developers....
    @ Neil : How many developers do you have in your team ?
    Are developers allowed to "customize" their formsweb.cfg and .env files ?
    or more customized basejinit.htm, registry.dat, additional jar files ... etc
    or more using different oracle_home for their installation of Developer Suite.
    @ Slava : Using local formsweb.cfg and .env files might not be a problem if every developer machine is installed the same way (i.e. the same oracle_home).
    Also, I don't think that using workingDirectory to network shared connection for each developer is a solution
    [dev1]
    workingDirectory= H:/dev1
    [dev2]
    workingDirectory= H:/dev2
    And at least this is requiring customized *.env files ! as the forms_path should be set for runtime in it for each developer.
    The registry entry is only for the builder to find the path to mmb and pll files for example, and compile well, but the runtime is using *.env files.
    And what about developing in windows and deploy it to linux ?
    I recently managed a project with junior and undisciplined developers. The boss had the same concern about each network drive per developer.
    My concern was how to eliminate all subjective considerations..
    And my answer was "Subversion" no mess with local or network version with the "copy of the copy of the copy of the fmb files".
    So all forms_path were set to C:\myApp\forms etc and each developer made a checkout and commit versions twice a day.
    And the Application Server was also "checked out" to have the latest revision and then ran it into a pre-version for production.
    If I had to make some important changes in the *.olb file or the *.pll files then I made a commit for all developers and then re-compile all *.fmb and re-commit and checkout again.
    I really don't matter if the developer used jinitiator or jpi but the right working copy.
    And standalone OC4J was enough to make basics tests for each developer.
    More tests were made by project managers at the application server level and then adjustments (if required) where sent to developers.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Jean-Yves

  • Problems configuring HP Laserjet M1213nf MFP with Mac via AirPrint

    Hello,
    I have a HP Laserjet M1213nf MFP printer, connected to a Dlink DSL-2730U ADSL router. I am having problems configuring the printer with my Macbook running OSX Yosemite. I can see the printers name in nearby printers but when I try to add the printer, the mac gives me an error saying, "unable to communicate with the printer at this time". The network settings on the printer are configure for iPv4 and iPv6 addresses.
    Previously, I had the ADSL DSL-2750U model router, and the printer was connected fine. I did not face any issues then. I have been facing problems since I changed my router so the problem should be in the router. I have the IP for the printer reserved in the DHCP reservation list on the router settings using the mac address of the printer.
    Can someone please help me out here? Is there something I am probably missing.
    Rgds
    ~n~

    I talked to the DLink Support. They asked me to disable an option called "MultiAP Isolation" and Voila, the printer is working fine. I can add it to all my devices on the wireless network. I looked up google. Apparently, this isolation feature present in some routers, prevent wifi clients to interact with other devices connected to the wired network and also with each other. Thats why only my desktop which was also connected wired was only able to access the printer and not the laptops connected wirelessly.
    Problem solved. Thanks for all your help on this one.
    Cheers!

    Oracle XE has it's own forum - to register and discuss XE problems with XE experts use URL http://www.oracle.com/technology/xe/registration
    Once you have registered, you sign in to the forums and the link to the XE forum is there. But you do have to sign in as the user who registered XE.
    You will also need to provide a few more pieces of information:
    1) actual distro and version of Linux
    2) userid used to install XE (should be root)
    3) userid used to run "/etc/init.d/oracle-xe start" (should be root)

  • Problem In Joing AWM 10G Cube

    Hi David,
    This is in continuation of the Thread : 'Problem In Joing AWM 10G Cube' to which you have replied. But I was unable to post my reply in the same Thread. So I am opening another Thread with almost same subject line. Below are the things that you wanted from me.
    The Scenario is as below:
    CREATE TABLE W_POSITION_D
    ROW_WID NUMBER, PK and Refers to FACT.POSITION_WID
    NAME VARCHAR2(60),
    STREET VARCHAR2(60),
    CITY VARCHAR2(60),
    STATE VARCHAR2(60),
    INTEGRATION_ID NUMBER PRIMARY KEY --> Refers FK W_POSITION_DH.LVL1_ID
    CREATE TABLE W_POSITION_DH
    ROW_WID NUMBER,

    PRODUCT_WID NUMBER, -- REFERENCES Product Dim column
    SALES_UNIT NUMBER,
    CONSTRAINT fact_pk PRIMARY KEY (POSITION_WID, PRODUCT_WID)
    As a result of which I need to join FAct -> W_POSITION_D and W_POSITION_D --> W_POSITION_DH to show Fact.SALES_UNIT aggregated against W_POSITION_DH.LVL3_ID.
    Thanks..
    ChD

    Thanks for clarifying the fact join. I'm sorry to keep on at this, but table W_POSITION_D can only have one primary key. Do you mean it is a unique key?
    CREATE TABLE W_POSITION_D
      ROW_WID NUMBER UNIQUE NOT NULL ,
      NAME VARCHAR2(60),
      STREET VARCHAR2(60),
      CITY VARCHAR2(60),
      STATE VARCHAR2(60),
      INTEGRATION_ID NUMBER PRIMARY KEY
    )In any case I think you should define a view to join W_POSITION_D and W_POSITION_DH together. This can serve as the basis for your dimension in AWM.
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW W_POSITION_VIEW
    AS SELECT
      D.ROW_WID,

  • Problems configuring Platform Domain with MS Sql Server

    Hi,
    We are having problems configuring a Platform Domain with MS Sql Server 2000.
    We are using Weblogic version 7.0.0.2. These are the steps we followed
    1.We manually created a database called TestDB and created a user account called
    "system", pwd ==>> "weblogic" in SQL server and assigned him as the DB owner for
    the TestDB created.
    2. Changed dbsettings_properties files (Commented pointbase entries and uncommented
    SQL Server entries. I gave the connection parameter as connection=jdbc:weblogic:mssqlserver4:localhost:1433
    in this file.
    3. Modified Config.xml and changed properties for DataSyncPool, WLIPool, CommercePool,WLIPool
    and modified the RDBMS realm properties to point to the database.
    4. ran the create_db script and it seemed to have run fine looking at the log

    5. I then tried to start the BEA Server instance and I get the following error.
    I am also attaching the config.xml file for reference.

  • Configuring APS for 10G ITU w/ Splitter

    Does anyone have experience on configuring APS for 10G ITU card with Splitter so that in a case of signal degrade it will switchover to the protection path? The default switchover mechanism is based on LOL (Loss-Of-Light) but it wont help if signal degrades for example to -25dB. All experiences and best practices are wellcome.

    I know the protection schemes (client, splitter, Y-cable etc.) but my question is how to configure splitter protection so that in a case of signal degrease it will do switchover to the protection path.
    See below an output from ONS15530:
    ONS15530_1>sh aps
    AR : APS Role, Wk: Working, Pr: Protection
    AS : APS State, Ac: Active, St: Standby, NA: Not Applicable
    IS : Interface State, Up: Up, Dn: Down
    MPL: Minimum Protection Level, SD: Signal Degrade, SF: Signal Failure
    LOX: Loss of Light/Loss of (CDR) Lock/Loss of Frame/Sync,
    LOL: Loss of Light, - not currently protected
    Interface AR AS IS MPL Redundant Intf Group Name
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Wavepatch1/0/0 Wk Ac Up LOX Wavepatch1/0/1 CH1
    Wavepatch1/0/1 Pr St Up - Wavepatch1/0/0 CH1
    So APS will switch to the protection path only in a case of Loss of Light/Loss of (CDR) Lock/Loss of Frame/Sync. So it WONT do the failover if RX signal level degreases below the minimum RX level (-23dB for 10G ITU card), because there is still light coming (not LOL case). So how do I protect my system against this kind of signal degreade?
  • Problem configuring Username token profile on ALSB
    Hi All !!
    First of all, thanks for your support!!
    I'm facing a problem configuring an active intermediary Proxy service with username token profile. This proxy service has a security policy referencing Auth.xml file to implement Username token profile. That proxy calls a business service which calls a web service.
    On test page, username and password is requested (already created in the security domain), then an error is returned "Unable to add security token for identity".
  • Problem configuring RVS4000 router
    I just purchase the Cisco Router RVS4000 vpn and I am having problem configuring the VPN option.  I just try all way I could imaging, but somehow something are missing and I don't know what it is.  Here are a image of my current configuration.
    Without examining this in detail, it is only half of the equation.  The other end of the tunnel needs to be configured as well.  BTW, don't ever post your WAN IP and shared key in a public forum.  Change the key.
  • Problem using template in database configuration assistant Oracle 10g
    Hi,
    I created a database using the database configuration assistant for Oracle 10g on a Windows Server 2003 box. The database I created worked perfectly, and I had saved it as a template so I could save some time when creating similar databases (which I have to do on occasion)
    When I try to use the template though, I get an error (at about 4% through the database creation) saying:
    ORA-01501: CREATE DATABASE failed
    ORA-09314: sltln: error translating logical name
    I'm creating this new database on the same server as the one I created my previous database on and NOTHING has changed on it, I did this just minutes apart and can duplicate it at will (just try and use a template)
    Heres the template file contents (KM1.dbt)
    <DatabaseTemplate name="KM1" description="" version="10.1.0.2.0">
  • Problem in using JDeveloper 10g with JHeadstart
    I am using JDeveloper 9.0.3 and jheadstart 9.0.4.5 and I would like to test jdeveloper 10g preview with JHeadstart.
    So, I have downloaded the JDeveloper 10g to test it with my old application.
    Having run the Jdeveloper for the first time, I realized that Jdeveloper
    So I try to test one of my old application with this configuration. After Jdeveloper migrated my workspace and projects and business componenet
    to the newer version, I run the application generator. It worked fine without any problem but after running the application, I got an error page showing
    that my bc4j.xcfg is not in the path.
    On the other hand, I found out that when I wanted to view my UIX pages, 2 dialog boxes appeared. The first one asked to upgrade
    to UIX 2.2's new expression language syntax and the other which is on the top of the first one, showing that UIX runtime failed to render the page
    with following detail :
    javax.servlet.ServletException: No page broker found!
         at oracle.cabo.servlet.PageBrokerHandler.handleRequest(Unknown Source)
         at oracle.cabo.servlet.UIXServlet.doGet(Unknown Source)
         at oracle.cabo.ide.addin.preview.BasePreviewThread.run(BasePreviewThread.java:79)
    I think that I should have set some setting before use JHeadstart with JDeveloper.
    Could anybody help me ?
    Alex,
    The document Sandra referred to applies to JDeveloper 10g preview (9.0.5.0). JHeadstart 9.0.4.5 will NOT work with JDeveloper 109 production (9.0.5.1).
    We plan to release a new version end of april that is compatible with 9.0.5.1. See this thread for more info: JDeveloper 10g production, status JHeadstart?
