Problems connecting 3G iPod's to iTunes 7.02

The problem I am having is with iTunes or more specifically "ipodservice.exe".
As soon as I connect either of my 2 iPods (via firewire) to my computer ipodservice.exe starts using ~30% of my cpu time constantly and services.exe uses the remaining 70%. iTunes will then not detect my ipod, but the ipod is available to windows as a disk. To stop ipodservice.exe from using all my cpu time I have to kill it, the service manager cannot stop the service.
I have tried reinstalling iTunes completely 3 times and it does not fix the problem. I can install the iPod updater standalone program and "restore" the iPod fine and this version of ipodservice.exe that comes with the updater does not start using excessive amounts of CPU time. But this does not fix the problem either.
Is there anyway of fixing iTunes 7.02? I am currently using other software to copy music to my ipod, but would like to use itunes...

Yes, you probably need to fully uninstall iTunes through Control Panel before downloading 6.0.5 or you'll get that message; sorry, I didn't explain that.
Go to START > Control Panel on your computer. Then, go to "Add or Remove Programs".
On this list, you should find "iPod for Windows" and "iTunes". Click on Remove for both of these (your iTunes library will be saved, even when you delete the program).
Then, download iTunes 6.0.5 from the link above.
Does it work now?

BEWARE THIS WILL WIPE OUT EVERYTHING ON YOUR IPOD!!! IT WILL RESTORE IT BACK TO FACTORY SETTINGS , AS IF U JUST BOUGHT IT !!!!! then it should work fine again .. but u will lose all data on there besides the things you have synced with itunes already..

  • 101 Problems with my iPod Touch and iTunes...Almost

It really feels like I have 101 problems with my iPod touch and iTunes.
For some time now my iPod Touch have been using alot of batterypower and the battery is often discharged very fast. It discharges alot faster now than when I brought the Touch.
Also when I plug the iPod Touch to my computer it doesn't charge, it does the oposite of that, it's disharges and it does that ALOT faster than normal
There is also a problem regarding connecting the iPod Touch to iTunes. It doesn't connect to iTunes directly after I have plugged it in. It feels really random and it lives it own life it seems like.
If I accomplish to connect ut to iTunes it doesn't sync every single time. The computer / iPod Touch hangs and nothing happens. Soemtimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, like I said before - It feels really random!
Now to a BBIIGG problem. A week ago my girlfriend changed my password on my iPod Touch. When she typed the password into the login screen, it failed, she had forgotten the password / she thought that she picked that password when she changed it. Anywho, I didn't panic becuase I knew that I could lock it up by iTunes.
But, iTunes gives me a error while trying to restore the iPod Touch saying that there is no update avaiable and after that nothing happens. I tried to do the Sleep / Power + Home trick to set the iPod Touch into a recovery mode but iTunes gave me a unknown error.
I tried to update iTunes from my version to the new 8.0 version but when I do so it gives me a error saying that iTunes.msi can not be found and it can't uninstall the previous version :S
So, now I have a unusable iPod Touch, I can't do nothing with it.
    Like I said, It's really feels like I have 101 problems ;D.
Lucky I have my old iPod so I can listen to Music :P

  • When i connect my ipod shuffle to itunes i get an error message the ipod cannot be synced, the required disk cannot be found  anyone have this happen?

When i connect my ipod shuffle to itunes i get an error message the ipod cannot be synced, the required disk cannot be found  anyone have this happen? How do i get past it?

I seem to recall that this may be cause by overloading the USB bus (lack of power to go around).  Shut down your computer.  Reset the iPod shuffle using this procedure.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
Disconnect ALL peripheral USB devices, including keyboard and mouse.  Power up the computer.  If you need your mouse, connect it and launch iTunes.  Connect the iPod shuffle to a direct USB port and try the sync again.  See if there is any difference.

  • Is it possible to find the serial of the last connected device (iPod Nano) in itunes?

Is it possible to find the serial of the last connected device (iPod Nano) in itunes? Was stolen, trying to get info on my device.

iTunes will only show the serial number for iOS devices backed up using iTunes (and the iPod nano is not an iOS device). For alternative ways to find the serial number, see:
    On your iPod packaging
If you still have the original packaging for your iPod, you can find your serial number on the barcode label that's affixed to the packaging.
On your iPod invoice or receipt
Some retailers may include the serial number of your iPod on the receipt.
    Online at My Support Profile
If you used your Apple ID to register or purchase your iPod, you may find the serial number listed in My Support Profile (available in the United States and Canada). Log in with your Apple ID and find your iPod in the My Products box on the main page:
From iPod: How to find the serial number.

  • I cannot connect my iPod touch to iTunes

There are several factors preventing me from connecting my sister's iPod Touch to iTunes on my computer (the same one I used to set up her iPod):
    1.  The sleep/wake button is jammed, or just doesn't work. The button ITSELF feels fine.  It pushes down with a "click" feel, like all of the other devices I use, but nothing happens. It fails to turn off or turn on the iPod; it's a dud.  I think this is the main issue.  She's had a problem turning it off, lately.  Since this is an ipod 3, I highly doubt the warranty is still active, and isn't worth getting Apple involved.
    2.  She was sleepy when she set her passcode and punched in the wrong numbers (which I don't understand, since it asks you to re-enter the password before it is accepted).  Unfortunately, as a theft deterrent, each time a password is incorrectly submitted, the wait time to re-enter becomes longer and longer until the device is disabled.  Now it shows the message, "IPOD IS DISABLED connect to iTunes".
    3.  Connecting to itunes brings up a message in iTunes:  "ITunes could not connect to iPod "iPod Touch" because it is locked with a passcode.  You must enter your passcode on the iPod Touch before it can be used with iTunes."
I Googled the "iTunes could not connect..." message, which gave instructions to restart the iPod with the sleepwake/homebutton trick, but that can't be successfully accomplished with a broken sleepwake button.
I Googled "broken sleep/wake button", but that gave instructions to restore the iPod in iTunes, but it won't connect in iTunes without the passcode correctly entered in the iPod.
I Googled "Wrong password", but that gave instructions to restore the iPod in iTunes.  [sigh!]
I asked my sister if she had a wobbly table or chair with one leg shorter than the rest, and she said she did.  I told her to place the iPod under the short leg. She asked, "How is that going to fix my iPod?"  I replied, "It isn't.  But it will fix your table."  Took her a few seconds to realize that it was all her iPod was good for.
I don't want to resort to the wobbly table fix just yet.  I thought if there was going to be a way to fix this without reaching out to the Apple store (which would probably only be able to sell her a new iPod), this would be the place to find the answer...a place where most genius iDevice users would hang out to help other users.
    Any suggestions?

    FIXED IT!!!!!
Ok, here's one of the problems I was having (among the others listed above):  I kept getting the message that I had to enter my passcode in the iPod.  I searched for solutions and came across one that said I had to close down iTunes first, before plugging in the iPod, so I did that.
Lo and Behold, the USB symbol appeared on the iPod when I plugged it in without opening iTunes.
I opened iTunes, and Lo and Behold again, the iTunes showed the ipod on the side and the message popped up that said it was in restore mode.  I selected "Restore and download new updates".
I was good to go, right?
    WRONG!!!
Every few minutes into the download, I would STILL get a message saying that I had to enter iPod's passcode, and the iPod would return to the dreaded "disabled" screen!  I tried it several times, with no success.
THEN I noticed that even though the iPod was unplugged from iTunes, the update continued to download.
    SO...
I waited until the update had seconds left to be completely downloaded.  Then I reduced (not minimized) iTune's window and clicked on the desktop background.  I plugged in the iPod, which again showed the USB symbal.  I maximized the iTunes window, and the message appeared as usual saying the iPod was in restore mode.  I selected the "restore and download" button, but THIS time, it didn't have enough time to reject the iPod.  Within seconds, the download was complete, and the restoration continued as normal (for other iPods, anyway).  I held my breath the whole way, but it's GOOD AS NEW!  By "Good as new", I mean her ipod has no apps or music.  She'll have to reinstall all that, but they're paid for.  Not sure about the music, which was her main concern, but even if she had to buy all that all over again, it's still much cheaper than buying a new iPod.
Guess she'll have to find something else to level her table.
    :::::EDIT::::
I'm sorry, planb77, I didn't see your last post.  I forgot to reload.  But thank you for your help.
By the way, the sleep/wake button still doesn't work right, but she can select to have the ipod shut down after X amount of minutes.  The only thing she'll have a problem with is turning the iPod off all the way (which she never does, anyway...who does?), and take screen shots.

    - I've tried to restart my computer (windows XP)
    - update iTunes
    - reinstall iTunes
    - restart my apple devices mobile manager
what I think is the problem (which I can't solve) is that iTunes doen't even react to the USB

    Hello qz0rz213,
It would seem that iTunes has encountered or developed an issue in the process of trying to sync photos to your device. The best place to start would be removing the iPod Photo Cache (thus allowing for a new version to be created).
Note: Deleting this folder will not remove the original images from your library.
iTunes: Understanding the iPod Photo Cache folder

If the issue is not resolved by removing the iPod Photo Cache, the following article goes into further steps that can both help you determine the source of this trouble and eliminate it.
    Symptoms
In certain situations, iTunes may display an alert or may be unable to sync photos to an iPod or iOS device. Examples include:
After updating iOS, iTunes displays an alert that there is not enough room to sync photos
This error appears: "The iPhone/iPod touch '[device name]' cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found."

  • Problem syncronizing my iPod Shuffle.  iTunes makes it look like I have 2.

I have a new iPod generation 2 Shuffle. For some reason wnem I connect it to my USB port, it makes it look like I have 2 different iPod Shuffles. The first one shown under iTunes is as I registered it and says "Brad's iPod". The second one just says "iPod", yet shows the same serial number as shown under the first one with my name. I keep getting an error message when the second pops up and says that it seems that the iPod is corrupted and suggests I select the option to reset everything as it was with original factory settings. It prevents mefrom synchronizing my iPod.
Why is this doing this? Is there anyway to delete the second "instance" of the iPod being shown under the name of simply "iPod"? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Brad

    Hello,
I am currently an owner of an iPod Touch 4th generation, running IOS 6.1.2. I will be glad to help solve your problem with your iPod/iPad/or iPhone.
    Restart the Computer?
    Reset iPod/iPad/or iPhone:
Hard Reset: Hold down the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons on your  iPod/iPad/or iPhone for at least 10 seconds, or until Apple logo appears
    Hope that helps!
If none of the above solutions work, could you please reply back as soon as possible, as I will try to find another solution to your problem.
    Sincerely,

  • Connecting full iPod to new Itunes

I have an iPod video that I just filled with all the media on my pc, but due to a hard drive problem, I have to wipe the drive. If I wipe my drive and reinstall itunes on this computer, when I plug in my iPod, will it erase all of the media I have on it? or can i safely keep the media on the iPod and use iTunes to add more new media on?

If your iPod is set to manually update then yes, connecting it to an empty iTunes will wipe it. You can set it to manual before you wipe your HD and that will conserve what is on it, see this tutorial: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/tutorial/ipgettingstartedt3.html
Alternatively before wiping your hard drive, you could use your iPod to save your iTunes and move the files to your fresh installation: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300173-en

  • Connecting my iPod gets my iTunes and Finder to get stuck! Any suggestions?

Hi, ya all... I saw there are some similar threads but with no useful answers, so I'll start a new one.
A while ago, after several weeks of flawless performance, my iPod classic (120 GB) has begun giving me problems. Although I'm not sure it's it... it may be iTunes, I dunno...
You see, as soon as I connect it to my Powerbook to sync it, iTunes does start, but quickly gets to the "coloured spinning wheel", as does the Finder!
Needless to say I can't do anything about it. I can't wipe my iPod clean and start all over (since it's not recognized at all) and I can't update its software whatsoever (even if there's no need to do it, since my last update was roughly a month ago).
The iPod itself displays the "connected" screen, as everything was OK, but on the computer it's not connected at all (since both iTunes and the Finder are stuck).
Then, when I forcefully unplug the device, the computer says that I should have done it in the proper way! *IS IT KIDDING?!?!? IF IT ONLY LET ME DO THAT, I WOULD!!!! (THAT F£#%ING PIECE OF JUNK!)*
Anyway... I seem to be stuck in a rut, since the very act of connecting my iPod to the Mac seems to make it go nuts.
I already re-downloaded iTunes to the last available version, and I already did the "press 'menu' and the center button" trick on the iPod.
    Now what?
Thanks for any help you can give me.
    Alex

Well... go figure... I tried to connect it once more, just for the sake of trying once more... and after a loooooong while the problem seemed to fix itself.
    Really...
    *_GO FIGURE!_*
Still I want to ask you if that thing ever happened to you and, if so, how did you manage to resolve it.
    Thanks again
