Problems Connecting my HDR-HC7 to Windows 7 64-bit

Hello,
I used to have Windows 7 32-bit and was able to connect my HDR-HC7 Sony camcorder via Firewire without too much trouble. Preimere Elements 11 woud see the camera as would HDVSplit.
I recently built a new computer (using the same Firewire card) and placed Windows 7 64-bit on it. When I connect the camcorder via Firewire, it is recognized instantly as the HDR-HC7 camera. I can see it under Devices and Printers. The camera itself shows that the iLink is on, but when using Preimere or even HDVSplit, there is no camcorder recognized. It is as if I didn't connect it at all, even though Windows does see it.
I have tried changing the settings on the camera to DV Convert, Auto, etc. but I cannot seem to get it to be recognized. Also the drivers appear to be up to date (if you consider 2006 up to date).
Any ideas on how to solve this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for the help.

Great news!
Driver issues with newer OS's can be tough.
I have seen several issues with the Win8 drivers (same thing happened with Win7 drivers), and hope that SP-1 will fix most of those.
If things are now working properly, maybe take a look at this article: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1058744?tstart=0
Good luck, and happy editing,
Hunt

  • Connecting to MS Access In Windows 7 64-Bit

    Hi.
    As usual, Microsoft has done its best to make this as difficult as possible. The essence of a solution to this problem that I found at http://sushantnayak.wordpress.com/2010/10/25/connect-ms-access-using-jdbc-odbc-in-windows-7-64-bit/ is as follows:
    1. Download and run AccessDatabaseEngine_x64.exe
    (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=c06b8369-60dd-4b64-a44b-84b371ede16d&displaylang=en)
    2. Change the connection string in your code to:
    Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb, *.accdb)};DBQ= <-db name and path here
    Though the author of the tip had used VB to make the connection, it looked as though the same technique should work with Java. However, I found that the attempted connection kept generating an SQLException. The code that I tried to run is shown below.
    import java.sql.*;
    public class JDBCTest2
    public static void main(String[] args)
    Connection connection = null;
    Statement statement = null;
    ResultSet results = null;
    String fileName = "F:\\Temp\\Finances.mdb";
    I also tried the following (with different fields below):
    String fileName = "F:\\Temp\\ExamResults.accdb";
    String dbString =
    "jdbc:odbc:Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb, *.accdb)};DBQ="
    + fileName + ";DriverID=22;READONLY=false}";
    //I also tried the above without ';DriverID=22;READONLY=false', but the
    //result was exactly the same.
    try
    Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
    connection = DriverManager.getConnection(dbString, "", "");
    catch (ClassNotFoundException cnfEx)
    System.out.println("* Unable to load driver! *");
    System.exit(1);
    catch (SQLException sqlEx)
    System.out.println("* Cannot connect to database! *");
    //The above message was displayed.
    System.exit(1);
    try
    statement = connection.createStatement();
    results = statement.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM Accounts");
    catch (SQLException sqlEx)
    System.out.println("* Cannot execute query! *");
    System.exit(1);
    try
    while(results.next())
    System.out.println("Account no. " + results.getInt(1));
    System.out.println("Account holder: " + results.getString(3)
    + " " + results.getString(2));
    System.out.printf("Balance: %.2f %n%n",results.getFloat(4));
    catch (SQLException sqlEx)
    System.out.println("* Error retrieving data! *");
    System.exit(1);
    Any help in solving this problem would be most appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Jan ('Yan')

    I believe that my problem may be due to using a 32-bit Access database, rather than a 64-bit one. I am fully aware of how to use c:\windows\syswow64\odbcad32.exe to get round the problem of setting up the required ODBC data source, and that is what I shall be making use of for at least the next year, as I have just been informed that it will be the 32-bit version of MS Access (with Windows 7) that will be used at my institution for the coming academic session. (I lecture at a university.)
    As a consequence of the above, it turns out that I don't really have a problem for the foreseeable future. However, I would like to know (for personal satisfaction, if nothing else) whether the test program would work if it were used with a 64-bit Access database. Unfortunately, it looks as though I won't have the use of a 64-bit version of Access. Consequently, I would be most grateful if anybody out there could try out my test program with 64-bit Access. Obviously, the appropriate database would need to be set up (or an existing one used and the name/path changed accordingly), but the fields wouldn't even have to be set up to match mine. As long as the program gets past the 'Cannot connect to database error message', I'll be happy.
    Thanks.

  • Problem Installing P6 v7 Standalone on Windows 7 64 bit

    I am having serious problems installing P6v7 on Windows 7 64 bit, as a Standalone.
    I've installed the Oracle database, version 10g, with no problems
    When I come to install the P6 software as a standalone installation on a laptop it keeps trying to link to the SQL database - as opposed to Oracle for Standalone - and I end up stuck with it asking for a password to the SQL database {the username is already locked as "sa"}, no standard passwords get me through.
    According to my supplier this has happened a few times to others and they are "working on a fix"
    Any advice would be most welcome.

    Hi DeborahZ,
    Truthfully, I have nothing else to suggest other than what you have tried. You can however call HP tech support to see if they are able to offer you a discount on a newer model. If you are in Canada or US call 800 474 6836, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.
    Thanks for reaching out to the HP Forums.

  • Problem with 4250dtn printing multiple copies Windows 7 64 bit

    We can't print multiple copies from within some, but not all, applications to a Laserjet 4250dtn from Windows 7 64-bit workstaitons.  Windows 7 32-bit ones work fine.  The printer is served from a Server 2003 printer queue, but even when we print direclty to the port we only get one copy. Setting copy count from the printer dialog works fine, but we need to have the applications invoke multiple copies. We are using the UPD 64-bit driver;  could not find a legacy driver for this printer for Win 7 64 bit. I've tried various tricks found elsewhere on this forum, including turning off mopier mode, printing directly to the printer, disabling advanced features, etc. to no avail. Help, anyone! Thanks. Jerry TurnbowUSBO

    Thanks very much for the feedback. I was getting worried!
    The command window opens when I double-click on the Developer Day VM and I get a few lines that scroll off the window about loading Linux .... These lines never come back and I can't scroll in the command window.
    As soon as the above messages come into the command window the whole process stops. The window stays open but I get no response from it. I get no login prompt or anything.
    Do you think it could be a VirtualBox setup issue? I downloaded and installed the product along with the extension pack with no apparent problems and when I start VirtualBox I see the Developer Day VM listed in the left panel. All I do at that point is double-click it like the download web site said but I don't get the same results, i.e. no chance to login. It seems all I can do at that point is close the window by clicking the 'X' and it asks me 3 things about what to do with the VM and I usually say to shut it down. None of the other options look any better either.
    Any other suggestions are most welcome!!
    Thanks again!

  • W510 problems with Nvidia driver recovery under Windows 7 (64 bit)?

    Lenovo W510, Nvidia Qudardo FX 880M video, FHD:
    What I'm seeing on occasion is a Windows 7 (64-bit) recovery, screen blanks out, goes 2-3 seconds, then recovers, things go back to normal, but a message displays saying that an error was detected in the video driver, and it has recovered. The new Firefox (4.0.1) seems to be one of the things that may be a contribution, hard to tell.  Per System Update at least, I'm current on the Lenovo downloads. SIW shows the driver level as 8.17.12.5738 (2010-06-27). Nvidia web-site shows their current driver level on the wen-site as 270.61 (2011-04-18), which is a considerably newer date at least. So two questions:
    Has anyone else seen Driver/Recovery issues on Win 7 (64)
    Has anyone directly run the Nvidia video drivers and had them run OK?
    Seems like it would be nice for Lenovo to update their drivers, if indeed this is a driver issue, they appear back-level.

    I used to have this problem with my W510 running Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit, especially Firefox 4 crashing the Nvidia display driver almost constantly. I googled and found that this is a known problem between older Nvidia driver and Firefox 4. Later on I downloaded the latest version of Nvidia driver from Lenovo website (it was not posted on the System Update server yet but was available on the regular download site). I clean-installed it (i.e., removing all files and settings created by the old driver) and I haven't experienced the problem since then.

    I understand that to use the HP 3050 with Windows 7 64-bit I must use the Windows Fax and Scan software.  However, if I try to scan using anything greater than a 200 dpi resolution, the document takes forever!  Any workarounds?

  • Can't connect iPhone or iTouch to Windows 7 64-bit machine

    Has anybody had any luck installing all the iTunes software on a Windows 7 64-bit machine? iTunes and QuickTime install fine, but the AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi package will not install. I can paste the install log file if it will help, but I wanted to check if this should work or not - and if not if there were any work arounds.
    Thanks,
    Bob

    Hey there @slee , welcome back
    I would suggest trying the steps in this guide for the installation troubles you are having on your one specific Windows 7 computer.
    Windows 7: The Progress Bar on the Software Installation Stops or Stalls
    You can also try disabling your firewall while you run the installation to see if that helps.
    Let me know the results!

  • Problem downloading adobe flash player with windows 7 (64 bits)

    i have a computer  acer aspire M5810 working under windows seven (64 bits) but i can not install adobe flash player
    i tried everything but no result
    is there somewhone who can help me

    Hi, You need to be sure to use the 32bit browser in Install Flash Player, as it is not supported yet for the 64bit. You can install FP in a 64bit operating system as you have, but use the 32bit browser which is the default.
    Also are you trying to Install Flash Player vs 10.0.45.2 and if so did you run the Adobe Uninstaller first?
    Thanks,

  • Error message/problem connecting 5G iPod to my Windows XP computer (code 28

    Whenever I try to connect my new 5G iPod or my Olympus C700 camera I always encounter a problem. Upon connection I get the "New Hardware Found" message and the device is properly identified. However, immediately afterward I get
    a Hardware Update Wizard screen which gives the following message: "CANNOT INSTALL THIS HARDWARE There was a problem installing this hardware: (the device is always properly named here)" The message goes on to say: "An error occurred during the installation of this device. The filename, directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect" Sometimes the camera photo download will work despite this message, but the iPod never works. If I look at the device manager, the camera and the iPod are always shown with a yellow question mark. If I click on it I get the same message for both camera and iPod--"Code 28, driver not installed" I have tried numerous times to
    reinstall the drivers but nothing ever works. Both of these devices work properly on my other computer running Windows 2000. Can anyone tell me how to get them to work on the computer running XP Home??

    Yes, the software on the disc can be used more than once but it is the same software you download from www.itunes.com.
    The website has a newer version though.
    Uninstall it from your work computer and reinstall it.

  • Problems Connecting Apple Bluetooth Devices in Windows using BootCamp

    People are having trouble connecting bluetooth devices in windows 7 while using bootcamp. I solved the problem by clicking on bluetooth>ADD A DEVICE once windows has detected the bluetooth device you want to add. Now, right click on the device you are adding (make sure it's  "inside the add bluetooth
    Device window "see below" ) it will say "select your device". Then tick the box beside "drivers for Keyboard, Mice etc.," under "Bluetooth Services" (see below) and it will search the internet for your drivers and automatically install them. If you have any problems post a message. Good Luck

    Not sure if you can help me, but I can't add my phone or some bt speakers to my MBA2011 in bootcamp.  Drivers can't be found...and this is usually a problem of the bt controller drivers, not the device.
    It does seem the apple bt drivers are gimped in bootcamp.

  • Problem connecting wirelessly to TC with Windows computers

    This is not a new problem for me. I connect to my TC with ethernet. I connect with my ibook wirelessly with NO problem. However, I can't connect with an XP machine upstairs (great signal btw) Nor can my daughter connect via her new laptop with Vista (we had words about that purchase). I have my TC set up wep, via N (b g compatible). When we enter the password, all we get is an "connecting" that never connects. It sees the TC just fine, and reports it as wep and N configuration.
    Anyone have any ideas?

    Happy to help.
    I have an idea. Since you can "see" the wireless network from the PC it may be a password issue. Different companies do not use the same formula, or algorithm to be more more accurate, to generate the actual code when you enter your password.
    For example, when you entered your password for the Time Capsule in AirPort Utility, it was converted to a long complex code of numbers and letters using Apple's code generator.
    The PC manufacturer is probably not using the same algorithm, so although you are entering your "password" correctly, it is being changed to a different code which the Time Capsule interprets as incorrect and you get the log on error.
    Open AirPort Utility to the Wireless page again and click in the area where your password is shown as a series of dots (do not change anything, just click in the box). Now go click on the Base Station menu at the top of the screen and click on Equivalent Network Password. You will probably see a very long code.
    I think that this is the code,or password you will need to enter when you are trying to log on with the PC. Give it a try and post back on your findings.
