Problems connecting to desktop software

Your carrier: Vodafone UK
Model info and OS version: 8110 v4.5.0.180
File free before battery remove/replace: 12595211
Did a battery pull fix your issue?  No
Apps installed and their version if possible: Facebook, MapMyRun
BT device model/version: None connected
Details
Windows 7 64 bit, current fixpack
Blackberry Desktop 7.1.0.41
Windows recognises the device.  Drivers are up to date and I have chnaged USB power management settings as outlined in the knowledgebase, disabled selective suspend plus set software to run as an administrator.  I have tried different USB cables and all three ports
After lots of tries (including starting with the battery out) I have managed to connect once today (not sure how), and it took almost an hour to transfer 2 35MB files to the newly encrypted media card - painful.  After that it didn't want to play any more!
When I connect now I am prompted for a password, and either a backup is attempted, which I can't cancel, or it sits in the "connecting" forever.
Any clues?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I suggest this thread:
http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Desktop-Software-for-PC/Cleanly-quot-Starting-Over-quot-with-...
It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.
Good luck!

  • Playbook will not connect with Desktop Software

Playbook won't connect with desktop software any longer. Seems to have started after latest update to 2.0. Still working fine with my Torch 9810, but not with the Playbook. I even tried reinstalling the Desktop software, but no go. Tried to "forget" Playbook, but now I can't even add it as a device any longer!

possible you need to uninstall Device Manager, not Desktop Software.
Disconnect the PB from the computer.
    Uninstall the Device Manager.
Reboot your computer (for good measure)
Connect the PB using the USB cable.
Now you should see a PlayBook CD-ROM.
In that CD-ROM you will find version 7 of the Device Manager, install it.
Once installed disconnect the PB from the computer.
Wait for about 15 seconds then plug it back in.
Windows should detect new device and start Device Manager. It may take up to two minutes for windows to detect and properly install.
Then device manager will map 'z' drive to the PB.

  • Cannot connect with Desktop Software

    Hi,
Now, I am trying really hard to have faith in my Blackberry products. I must tell you, it's not easy. Last month, I ran into a lot of problems when backing up and updating my Torch (link: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Torch/Password-manager-data-lost-during-update/m-p..., and this time, I have problems hooking 2 tablets to my Desktop software.
    Here is now my problem:
The Desktop Softwre takes at least 4 minutes to connect to my tablet. Once it connects, I can't have access to the left side menu, where it says: "Files" and also the "Video" menu. When I click there, it says: “A problem occurred while attempting to connect to your blackberry device” Therefore, I cannot transfer any files and videos into my Playbooks.
Also, the computer doesn't recognize it as an additional drive/memory. So, I cannot drag and drop files/videos that way neither. I know I was able to do this the first day I got my playbooks as I did transfer a couple of videos that way.
These 2 playbooks are barely new - and both cannot be hooked with the BB Sofware, therefore, I think my problem may be with the software, not with the units. Please help me.
    Thanks so much !!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Turns out to be my WiFi. I don't know why, but I have to turn off WiFi on both of the tablets to be able to have it linked with my PC.
OK, I can live with that.
    Thanks guys for your replies.

  • Curve 8900 not connecting to Desktop Software version 6.0.0.40

I am not able to connect my Curve 8900 to the BlackBerry Desktop Software Version 6.0.0.40.  When I connect via USB it asks for the password  and then it says connecting in the bottom right corner - it never connects.  I also have the Blackberry Device Manager version 6.0.0.11 running at startup but it does say that the device is connected.  There are no errors in the device manager.  I am running Windows XP SP3.

No one else replied, but I seem to have solved the problem, more or less, so I thought I'd report back.  See previous message for the setup.
    1) First attack - make a concerted effort to truly undelete the 2 old versions of Desktop Manager.  The typical list of "how to cleanly uninstall" (link above) is incomplete.  This document is much better: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB02206 .
The part that matters is near the bottom, under Additional Information.  Basically, take a shovel to the Registry and start digging out absolutely every reference to "Research In Motion" using the Edit/Find.  I added to that recommendation a search on "BlackBerry" and even, for good measure, all the Roxio software (and removed the Roxio folders just like the Research In Motion folders).  I can't say which part did the trick, but I could see some of the Install and Uninstall list items go by.
This finally killed the zombie entries in the Add/Remove Programs list, and prevented the Windows Installer attempts on unfindable .msi files.
    2) Problems: In killing Roxio, I may have accidentally munged a Sonic registry entry.  When I installed the Desktop Manager fresh from the CD, it complained about a registry-style confusion with Sonic software.  It allowed me to continue past that point anyway.
I can't fix that, but I will be swapping in new PCs in a couple of months and can live with whatever reduced functionality might be involved.
When I started the Desktop Manager for the first time, I could see Windows Installer popups fly by in the background, but none of them stayed open, and perhaps that will be a one-time problem.  Otherwise, if related to the Sonic issue, at least it's not a functional problem that prevents me from using the Desktop Manager.
    3) I can now connect to the Desktop Manager via USB, but am unable to successfully update the device software.  It goes through the backup process apparently successfully, but issues an error message about "Fatal error" before installing much (any?) of the new software.  Seems to be a benigh error - phone still works.  Because this will be reinstalled on a clean PC in a couple of months, I can pass on upgrading the device software until then.
    4) All I care about is the ability to synch the contact and calendar data and, by god, that seems to be working!!!  And it's much faster than my older BB.
If you're reading this, it's because you have an ongoing nightmare...  You have my sympathy.

  • Problems synchronization Blackberry desktop software version 6.0.0.40

Today I installed the latest version of the Blackberry desktop software, 6.0.0.40 on my desktop, latest MS Vista version. After I connected my Blackberry bold 9000 via USB, the system automatically made a backup. That's fine ofcourse. But when I want to verify the synchronization parameters, the system gives an "unknown error" and don't allow me to change the parameters because of that error. I can't click one of the four given synchronization aps, the system doesn't allow it and comes with the error mentioned before. I checked for a newer version of the desktop software, but I have the latest version.
Who can give me a good advice to solve this?
    Bernard, Holland, Europe.

I have the same problem and am still waiting on a solution from RIM , and may end up switching form Blackberry because of it. I use win 7, latest DM6, BBerry Tour with latest Verizon updates, and Outlook 2010. I have un-installed and reinstalled DM6 multiple times, using every clean un-install protocol here. I STILL get "Intellysinc error" when I try to change the sync parameters as you've said, crashing DM6. I haven't been able to sync since at least May- it is ABSURD THAT RIM DOESTN CARE ABOUT BUSINESS USERS anymore, leaving us with outlook 2010 high and dry all these months. I will be switching to Droid in a week if RIM doesn't solve this !

  • P205 S6267 problem uninstalling blackberry desktop software error 2738

I have been using Blackberry (BB) desktop software on my laptop to connect with my BB Curve 8320 (version 4.5.0.81)
When trying to syncronize with Windows calendar (running vista home premium with sp2) i encountered a problem where the calendar info on the blackberry was sync'd to windows but 16 hours earlier.
I was told by the helpful BB support people at T-mobile that i needed to download version 6.1 of the BB desktop software as this would fix the problem.
i downloaded and installed (they omitted to add that i should have uninstalled version 4.5 before!).
I now have desktop software that still shows version 4.5...... when i open it up. consequently i tried to uninstall using control panel. In control panel it shows version 6.1, but will not uninstall giving me error message 2738    "could not access VB script run time for custom action"
Also tried uninstalling using ccleaner, same result.
    Any ideas out there???
    Thanks

  • Sync problem with Blackberry Desktop Software for Mac

Can someone help. I have synchronization problem with my contact in the Outlook for Mac using blackberry desktop software for mac. Seems all details in my blackberry handheld contact got synchronized, but not email addresses (so all names, jobs, companies, work phone, mobile - all got synchronized, but not email addresses). All data is in my handheld. I wish I could just "replace" (not merge/sync) outlook contact with all contact in the handheld but seems there is no option to do that. Let me know please if someone has similar experience and has found out solution. Thanks!

  • WRT300N - Problem Connecting With Desktop

I recently reset my HP desktop to the factory default after experiencing a whole slew of technical issues I had neither intention nor time to deal with. As a result of the reset, I lost connectivity to my host computer which runs a WRT300N Wireless Router. This wasn't a suprise, but I then ran into a few more problems in trying to reconnect. The first issue I experienced was that on my client PC, it wouldn't detect the Wireless PCI Card I previously installed before the factory reset. This was a quick fix, as upon opening the tower, I discovered the card had become disconnected. I connected the card and ran the installation CD successfully. Since the installation program contains a service to select the wireless network you wish to connect to, I did so, and followed the on screen directions to reset my computer. Unfortunately, I was still disconnected from the intended wireless network upon opening up Internet Explorer. I ran the Wirless Zero Configuration service on my computer so I could deal with the wireless networks on more familiar ground. I was completely dumbfounded to what I saw there. It detected the wireless network, but it gives all the wrong information about it. The SSID resembles the actual SSID, but it is not the same. Also, it says that the wireless network is unsecured when, in actuality, is it secured with a WEP Key. I am stumped. A PSP and HP laptop have absolutely no problem connecting  to this network. The problem seems to soley exist with my HP desktop. Any help at all would be great. Thank you.

    Hi,
Have you tried to install latest drivers for the wireless PCI card.
Download those from www.linksys.com/download from a computer already online.
Transfer those drivers to computer with the wireless PCI card, using a flash drive or by burning a disk.
Uninstall the old drivers from desktop, reboot the desktop computer.
Install the new drivers and again reboot the desktop computer.
Now check for available wireless networks and try to connect to wireless network.

  • Problems connecting to Desktop

    I have a 9700 (v5.0.0.586) and I run Windows 7 (64-bit)
Desktop Manager has the following heading at the top of the screen:
    Disconnected - BlackBerry Desktop Manager
It has an info window that says "Before you begin, verify that your current BlackBerry device is connected to your computer"
Windows appears to see the device as in the BlackBerry device manager properties I can see that USB-Blackberry 9700 is connected.
I cannot get DM to see the phone - can anyone help?

Well I can attest 100% that DTM 5.0.1.37 works with Win7x64-Ultimate. And I know many others who have Win7x64 platforms that run fine with it. So, it is indeed compatible...there must just be some little setting somewhere that is impeding it (always the joy in an open systems architecture).
All I am left with to suggest is a complete start over using the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista/Win7, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
    1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
Some have reported that there are more registry keys to remove than are discussed in that KB
Others have reported the use of a registry cleansing tool to also be helpful
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchronizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
    7) Start the organizer configuration over:
KB17022 How to configure organizer applications for synchronization using BlackBerry Desktop Manager
Hopefully that will get things going again.
Good luck and let us know!

  • No connection between Desktop software and Blackberry

All of a sudden on Thursday the phone and the desktop software stopped talking.  I've been through all of the suggestions in the 'Troubleshooting the Desktop Software' page and the phone still won't connect.  The desktop manager is simply showing 'Connect your Blackberry Device'.
Running XP Pro SP3, Desktop Software 6.1.0.35.
The phone is a Blackberry 9300 running software version 6.0 Bundle 2475 (v.6.0.0.546, Platform 6.6.0.207).
    Thanks for your suggestions.

So, it's now been a week since this stopped working and three days since I posted here about it.
Is there anywhere else I can go to get this fixed, since apparently Blackberry simply don't give a fig?

  • Connect to Desktop Software

Last week I hooked my Torch up to the computor and did my usual back up and sync with MS Outlook.  Yesterday, the Desktop software could not find my Torch.  I am not aware of any changes made to anything.  Have tried all I know and need some guideance.

    Hello.
Here's some more information on the slow sync. Try opening the device manager in Windows before you connect the USB cable then scan for hardware changes. It's an easy way to verify the type of USB port and what speed its running.
If you have tried multiple ports and cables and the device takes longer than usual to connect it may be the USB port on the device. Make sure you make a visual inspection and clear any debris.
