Problems connecting to internet via bluetooth from...

I am trying to connect to the internet from my Mac PowerBook using my Nokia 5300. The phone pairs nicely and sets up but when I press "Join network on Nokai 5300" which should connect me to the Internet, the computer connects briefly to the phone after which it disconnects and a message saying : Bluetooth network failed. Your device unexpectedly disconnected. Make sure it is turned on and in range." appears. I have tried the same thing with other 5300 phones and this process worked nicely. What could be the problem? Something in settings or maybe something is wrong with my phone?

As I understand it, if you have MacOS X 10.4.9 or later, it just works! It is a Mac after all.
You need to make sure that the phone itself is connected to the appropriate mobile internet account. On my Australian 3 mobile that profile is called "Mobile Internet". Your network provider should be able to help with this. Once that is set you should be able to browse anywhere on the internet with the phone.
Then just pair the phone with the Mac in the usual Bluetooth way. Use bluetooth preferences to check the services available in the phone. You need to see, "PAN Network Access Point" in the list. Your Bluetooth menu bar menu should now contain "Join Network on NameOfYourPhone" Select that and you are connected.
If you check System Preferences -> Network you will see that a new ethernet port has appeared which unfortunately has nothing to show that it belongs to the phone. There will also be a dial up port with the name of the phone.
SNAFUs when I first set this up it dropped out after a few seconds. Like all things computer, a restart on the Mac and turning Bluetooth on the phone on and off a few times solved the problem.
A PAN network access point is like a WiFi access point except it uses Bluetooth and it is simpler.

  • N73 Connection To Internet via Bluetooth Problem

Hi guys, I need some help...

    Any help is highly appreciated.

reinstall your bluetooth drivers or pc suite?
    and try !!
i did that, and my problem is now solved ..

  • Connect to Internet via Bluetooth with 6121 Classi...

I have a new Nokia 6121 Classic and a Thinkpad T60 with the latest Bluetooth drivers and Windows XP SP2.
I've installed the Nokia software and it asked to get the updated software from the Internet and installed 6.86.9.0
It connected fine via Bluetooth (WIDCOM) and I'm able to Sync my contacts/transfer files without any problems. I then throught I'd connect it to the Internet. I tried the cable connection and it connected fine via 3G to my carrier Optus.
However, if I don't use the USB cable and try via Bluetooth (what I want) it starts to connect and says 'Looking for bluetooth devices'...which is really strange since it's already connected !! Windows XP beeps quickly as if something has been plugged into a USB port, but nothing has. After about 20-30 secs, Windows XP beeps (as if something has been unplugged, but nothing has. The Nokia Connection Manager then says "No modem found!"
It's so strange...it can see the Nokia phone fine via Bluetooth. I then tried to connect via "My Bluetooth Places" and XP also connected fine to the phone. It then installed another dialup connection via Bluetooth. But if I click on that icon, it connects to the phone but then asks for a userid/password which I have no idea what to enter. So I think I need to use the Nokia PC suite, but it won't connect to the Internet via the phone, unless I use the USB cable.
It's a strange one... I've searched the forums but can't see any clues for my particular case.

    - Broadcomm (Version: 5.1.0, Build: 4700)

For anyone who's interested I solved this by:
    - Edit the Phone number for the bluetooth Modem and entering *99#
    - For the modem, setting it's Maximum speed to the highest. In my case it was 921600.
    - Go into Control Panel - Phone and Modem Options - Modems - Select Bluetooth Modem - Properties - Advanced tab and enter at+cgdcont=1,”IP”,”internet”
Dial the connection by going into My Bluetooth Places and double clicking on the icon. When prompted enter a blank userid and password. It should then connect to the Internet via your mobile !

  • Need help connecting to Internet via bluetooth'd cell phone

I have my iBook connected to my cell phone (i-mate K-jam) via bluetooth and I'm trying to figure out how to connect to t-mobile gsm so I can get to the internet. I can access the net with my K-jam by itself, I just can't figure out how to do it with my iBook. Has anyone done this and do you have a step-by-step???
    Thanks,
    Tom

Fixed it! I followed this: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?p=6184897#post6184897 The key was to put a fake user name and password. Even though Tmobile doesn't require it, I had to put something in. d for user and u for password works...anything will work.

  • New Mac User - Problem connecting to Internet via work Ethernet cable.

    Hi all.
I am having problems connecting to the Internet through my work ethernet cable.
When I plug the cable in, Network settings tells me it's there and working, all of the ip numbers conform to what the IT dep say they should be, but safari won't connect to any site.
I can see the shared folders on the Exchange Server, and access the files no problem, but cannot get any connection to the internet.
Have called Apple Support and they seem to think the issue is with my work's Network which I am starting to agree with. We went through all of the settings together and they said it all looked ok. Then we tried deleting and re-installing the system configuration folder. Still no joy.
Airport works fine, (have tried it on three different routers), as long as the Ethernet cable is unplugged.
If I plug the Ethernet cable directly into a router, it works fine also.
I connect to my work network by running an ethernet cable from the wall socket to my Macbook. It's the same cable that I connect my PC with, and works fine on my PC.
    Anyone come across anything similar?
My Macbook is just over a day old and running OS X 10.5.5.
    Thanks

For some reason (and it's nothing to do with me) it's all working fine now.
    Thanks for your help nonetheless.

  • Problem connecting to internet via non-apple router

got a bit of a problem with the airport and my router. i have a BTVOYAGER-2110 router to connect to the internet. The router works fine and i can get the internet unsing an enternet cable into the back of the computer. But when i try to connect to the internet using my installed Airport card, it wont work. The Airport card picks up the router and connects to the network no problem. it even says in the system prefs>network menu that i am connected to the internet via arport, but i cannot bring up any pages and it does not work. also i cannot bring the router up in the admin utility. does anyone know how to solve this little problem?

I'm having a similar problem, (strong signal, definite connection to the network, but unable to access the internet): it is not necessarily a matter of "b" versus "g" protocol. When I go to Europe, most of the time I cannot connect to available wireless networks with the mac, though I can with my pc. So, I'll be interested in whatever solutions people have to your problem as well. In the meantime, go to the following link:

  • Problems connecting to internet via ethernet solved ( ? ! )

    Hi,
finally I've got my imac back. They have changed the main board, because I was not able to connect over PPPoE.....Just now I've set up the machine and have tried it out ...f..... still the same problem.... then I've changed the location , I mean I changed to the network location the service has used to test the system before returning back to me.... guess what happen?
    It was working,
but they were not using PPPoE, but using
    TCP/IP
    Configure IPv4 : Using DHCP
    PPPoE
    empty .. not activated
    Ethernet
    automatically
    Proxies
    manually
Now I wonder , was it really a defect mainboard, or was it a software problem
...btw: my password for the provider only has 6 digits ... everytime when I was using PPPoE typing in the password, the imac was completing the password by two additional digits ( "dots") .. perhaps that was/is the problem.
Now, as I'm connecting via DHCP the setting in the modem are used ... with the correct password ... anyhow .. it is working now ... but it makes me still wonder why I cannot use PPPoE.
    Any comments appreciated.

    Oliver from Malaysia

    Probably yes...
{I say that because I don't remember what mine say
on the cables. They just work, and when they fail,
I get another cable; sometimes the end connectors
get loose or more rare, a wire inside could break...
    So, I have spares on hand; probably the right ones.}

  • Problem connecting to internet via Firefox as XUL Runner Error Platform version is not compatible with minVersion 1.9.2.16 max version 1.9.2.16

Firfox requested to update previous version to new version of which i allowed. After installation complete i tried to connect to the internet and was denied with a following error window appearing. As explained above i shall explain again as shown in the error window.
    XULRunner
Error: Platform version " is not compatible with
    minVersion >= 1.9.2.16
    maxVersion<= 1.9.2.16
This will not allow me to connect to the internet as i would like to continue to.
Please restore if possible my previous toolbar and able for me to connect to the internet.
    Thank you.

This issue can happen when the updater wasn't able to update all files in the Firefox program folder.
    Do a clean (re-)install:
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 4.0: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
    * Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Don't remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • Nokia 3230 unable to connect to internet via USB c...

when i use CA-53 cable to connect to internet using nokia pc suite7.0.8.2 (one touch access) an error message pops up "unable to connect to the speified device make sure the modem is configured properly" but i can easily connect to internet via bluetooth   other functions like file manager , contacts , messages and back up can be accessed by using the CA-53 cable

I called a vw dealership (in South Australia) today because I have an iphone5 and a Tiguan and experienced the same thing (after i had purchased the lightening/30pin adapter).
I was advised that the media interface software is not compatible with iphone5.  VW will eventually update the software according to ol'mate at the dealership, but it will be at an expense to the consumer allegedly.
I know that there is a iphone/vw media cable one can purchase from VW however, I believe this to only work with iphone4 or older?
Maybe try an older generation ipod to use for the car if all ur music is in itunes?
if anyone can correct me, I'd be more than happy to know... going to try my older generation ipad and see if there is any truth to the tale.... eventually.  Until then i'll stream via bluetooth :-)

  • 6300's problem of transfer file via bluetooth

    Hi..i just got a brand new 6300
but i've got a problem with transfering file via bluetooth from my laptop to my phone
sumhow i can transfer file from my phone to my laptop, and i also can transfer image file from my laptop to my phone...
but a problem occured when i try to send MP3s file from my laptop to my phone...
i've already succeed to pair my laptop and my phone...but still i can't transfer thoose files...
    can anyone help me??
    please...
    thx a bunch

Make sure that you have enough phone memory available, even if you are transferring to the memory card.
When sending files by bluetooth they are transfered (cached) to the phone then the phone transfers them to the memory card.
Also you should transfer files one at a time.
If you are transfering lots of MP3's you would be better off using a data cable as it will be a lot quicker.

  • Connecting LG KU990 Viewty to internet via bluetooth

My KU990 Viewty doesn't have the wireless feature of the iPod Touch or iPhone.
Using the built in browser or Opera Mini works over g3 but that's slow and expensive and should not be necessary when I am at home where I have a broadband connection.
So does anyone know how to set up the phone to share my internet connection via bluetooth, from my X-Modem, AirPort Extreme or iMac?
If you know, please explain the steps for me in a terms a dummy can follow!
    Thanks guys.

I am afraid the long and short of it is you can't share your wireless connection with your Viewty. The phone doesn't have any Wi-Fi capability. You can use bluetooth to share data with your computer but you can't internet share over bluetooth with a mobile phone. In effect it would be pointless seeing you would have to be in fairly close proximity with your computer anyway.

I have a computer set up sharing ethernet internet connection via bluetooth.
How do I connect iPhone to the Internet via bluetooth? (No cellular network, no wifi)
You cannot. There is no network connection available TO the iPhone over bluetooth. When tethering becomes available, you will be able to tether your laptop using the iPhone as an Internet connection, but not the other way around. The iPhone CAN use wifi for its internet feed though, but not bluetooth. Bluetooth only supports headsets today.

  • Automatically connect the Internet via dial up connection?

    Hi all,
I am using LabVIEW 6i. I require to connect the internet via modem. I want this to be done automatically. I read some of the discussion here which discuss some AT protocols. Sorry, but I am not aware of these protocols.
After this auto connection I want to get data from some links. I think this I could using URL property of the windows' browser. If some one has other options please let me know.
    Thanking you.

I'm not sure I understand your problem. Do you want to dial up a flow controller and talk to it via
Modbus? I am familiar with Modbus and modem connects.
