Problems Connecting to Sony J-H3 with FW 800 on my MacBookPro

I just got the new MacBookPro with only a FW800 port. I used to connect to my Sony J-H3 deck via FW400. I didn't think there would be a problem now that I have to use FW800, but there is no connection between FCP and the deck. What do I need to do to control the deck or at least be able to capture from it with capture now? I don't need HD footage and realize I can't do that with just a firewire and the deck. I need to capture the footage in SD. I'm on the field, so I won't be able to buy an IO or anything. I have to go through the deck. Thanks. Please help.

I looked up the J-H3 and it just lists a "6-pin" Firewire port, so are you using a FW 800->400 cable to connect the deck to your laptop?

  • I am having problems connecting to my home wifi with my iphone4s

Over the past couple of weeks I have experienced a problem connecting to my home wifi service (Sky) with my iphone4s although my laptop connects fine. My phone also picks up the wifi at my place of work. At home when in close proximity to the router (netgear) on the phone the network name appears in the wifi settings but on the wifi networks page it does not get a tick against the name (wheel just keeps revolving). I have taken it back to the retailer (Vodaphone) and they recommend it be sent back to Apple (Liverpool or Manchester) as they consider it a hardware fault. I will be without the phone for probably 1-2 weeks and I use it within my working environment regularly.
    Has any one any ideas?

ps. If I go down the route of 'forget this Network' will I need to do any resets on the router as I cant find the username and password when I enter my IP address for the router.

It is strange because it was working all right since 3 months ago and in these 2 last weeks, it is frequently this problem. Sometimes it works sometimes it does not.
Of course, I tried the connection between OIM and SAP, with the SAP login, and the connection is all OK.
My oim vertion is 9.1 and the SAP User Management connector is 9.0.4.1.
Did anybody have this problem before?
    Bye!

Oh I forget, when I restart the application server, in my case the jboss, the problem is fixed. Strange...

I keep getting an error messahe that says
There was a problem connecting to the server.  URLs with type "file" are not supported
    Any ideas?

Actually, in my case, turning off Time Machine didn't work. I had the same problem. We definitely traced it to Time Machine. The "Fix" was this: plugged in and designated different external HD as Backup volume. Then unplugged it and plugged in the original disc (after testing in in a different machine) and now the computer recognized it and error message stopped popping up. The Apple tech was as puzzled as I as to why this worked, but perhaps, forcing the machine to re-recognize it (or maybe even, gettting it recognized by a different machine first) somehow worked some magic.

  • Problem connecting to non-apple routers with WEP key

Hi there, have tried to connect to two wireless routers recently which have WEP keys. One gives me "Connection timed out" after about 5 seconds and the other says "incompatible security". The passcode is too long to enter if I choose any of the WEP 40/128-bit options (it's 32 characters long!)
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jon

    Hi.
I can't connect to WEP networks either with Leopard 10.5.1.
It just says "incompatible Security". I've tried it for one hour without any luck.
Why doesn't Apple realize that there are millions of WEP encrypted networks out there and that it is essential to be able to connect to them. (it worked with Tiger, didn't it?)
Is there a knowledge base article out there what to do about it?
I just can't walk to hotel managers and ask them to switch to WPA, especially if they don't have a clue how to do that and older windows computers won't be able to connect any more.
Why a transparent menu bar but no way to connect to WEP networks?
I'm very disappointed. Apple, fix this! (now!)
Is there actually a way to get your money back for Leopard if this basic things don't work anymore?
    Thank you for any help.

  • Problems connecting an NEC AccuSync ASLCD223WXM with DVI

    Hi all,
I have a PowerMac Dual G5 and just got a new monitor - an NEC AccuSync ASLCD223WXM. The monitor works fine over a VGA connection, but I wanted to try DVI so I got a Dell cable from a friend who wasn't using his. When I connect the NEC monitor to the Mac with the DVI cable, the monitor seems to switch between DVI and VGA inputs, looking for a source. The Mac desktop is visible for about a second, and then the monitor blacks out and appears to be trying to look at the VGA input (or it could just be going black). Then it switches back to the DVI input, displaying the desktop for about a second. The process repeats indefinitely.
The resolution is set at 1650x1050 at 60 Hz.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm wondering if I have a bad cable, or the wrong cable. There's DVI-D (which I think I have), DVI-M, DVI-A, etc... There's also single link and dual link. Not sure which I have. I've seen some info which says that the Radeon 9600 XT which is in my machine wants a DVD-D dual link cable, and the NEC monitor wants a DVI-D single link cable, but I don't trust the sources completely (and I don't know if that would cause this type of problem).
    Thanks for any help,
    Russ

Some more info in case it helps -
The Radeon 9600 XT in my Power Mac G5 appears to have a DVI-I port on the back. It has four extra pins around the flat contact. The NEC monitor appears to have a DVI-D port. It does not have pin inputs for the four extra pins around the flat contact. According to this (questionably creditable) webpage - http://www.pccables.com/cables/DVI_cables.html - a DVI-D to DVI-D cable is the right one to use in this situation.
Also, when I lowered the resolution down to 1280x800, the flashing went away. Raising the resolution caused it to come back. I found this webpage on Apple's site - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301752 - which says this:
"The maximum resolution available when this display is connected to a single-link DVI port is 1280 x 800 - you must connect the display to a dual-link DVI port in order to access the higher resolutions available to the display."
Does this help diagnose the problem? Do I need a dual-link DVI-D cable? I called NEC and they said use a single-link DVI-D cable, but the person on the other end of the phone didn't sound technical so I'm inclined not to believe them.

  • Problem connecting 6230 to Vista PC with Toshiba B...

    Hello,
I recently got a new laptop with Vista installed. My 6230 used to connect well with my former PC (Win XP).
Initially I managed to have PC Suite (6.83) work once and downloaded my contacts to the PC. Then sync stopped working for contacts but other functions were ok. Suddenly my computer asked me to check the Bluetooth drivers (don't know what stack it used, probably Microsoft) that apparently were not recognised anymore. I upgraded (following instructions from Asus website) and got the Toshiba stacked installed.
Now PC Suite still "sees" the 6230 but cannot link with it. The 6230 doesn't prompt for a pin. Outside PC Suite, Bluetooth connection manager manages to have the 6230 prompt me for a pin, and connect, but it would disconnect after 2 seconds.
Has anybody experienced that sort problem ? Is it more likely to be Vista-related, or my driver is faulty, or the 6230 is, or is PC Suite ?

Needless to say a new buy. When I hook the usb cable to the camera to import video files I get an endlless "preparing message.." on the cam screen and it never connects with the computer. I contacted the SONY "online" support and they were totally clueless. Anyone have any ideas (aside from not buying sony products). Thanks in advance.

  • Problem connecting to new Mac Pro with USB

I have a new late 2013 Mac Pro 6 core with 64GB RAM and a 1 TB SSD. I use a Thunderbay IV Thunderbolt drive bay and a Newertech Voyager for external storage and backup. The Thunderbay works perfectly. When I place a 4TB drive with a couple of TB of data (photos) into the Voyager, it appears as an empty 1.8TB drive. If I take the exact same drive and place it into the Thunderbay via Thunderbolt, it sees it as 4TB, sees the data, and seems to have no problem. If I ask disk utility to verify the disk in the Voyager, I get this message "Error: Partition map check failed because no slices were found." This happens regardless of which of the 4 USB ports I connect it to. Basically the drive will boot just fine in the Thunderbay, (Thunderbolt) but not in the Voyager (USB). I initially thought the Voyager was at fault, but this has happened with both a brand new S3 USB3 unit as well as my older Voyager Q USB 2 unit. I can connect a USB 3 card reader with no apparent problems as well as my iPhone, iPad, and two Epson printers. I am thinking that there is some problem with the USB connections in the Mac Pro but would appreciate any thoughts.

You got me curious so I dug further. We weren't alone in that problem. See this Apple discussion. And this review mentioned the 2TB limit as did this one. We both were the victims of progress. I remember when a 40MB HD upgrade was a big and expensive deal for an SE-30.

  • Problems connecting on Wireless 802.11n with my T61 with Intel Wireless AGN

Hi, I live in Thailand and have a similar problem as others with my Intel Wireless AGN connection as others.  I have a D-Link Model DSL-2740B Rangebooster N ADSL2/2+ Modem Router. It is supposed to support 802.11n draft wireless connections of up to a maximum of 270 MBPS versus 54 MBPS for 802-11G wireless. Of course, I don't expect it to reach the maximum transfer speed, particularly here in Thaiand, however I would expect it to produce results better than the 54 MBPS rate for 802-11G. I first tried it on my ThinkPad T61 which incorporates Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN. When connected, it shows a speed of 54MBPS (802-11G) instead of higher wireless 802-11n speeds. I've upgraded my router to the latest firmware and have tried different configurations with no improvement in performance. One think I have noted is that when I make an on-line configuration change to my router configuration then select "apply", immediately my ThinkPad rate changes to 150 MBPS momentarily then my connection is lost (to be expected as the router changes are being implemented), followed by reconnection of wireless signal only to return at 54 MBPS again. I also have an older ThinkPad model without built-in wireless capability so I purchased a Belkin wireless 802.11n USB adapter to connect to my router. Again, the maximum connection is at 54 MBPS. When I repeat configuration changes to my router as I did above, my ThinkPad connection momentarily changes to only 1 MBPS instead of 150 MBPS as in my other T61 ThinkPad then reverts back to 54 MBPS once the configuration changes have been completed. Has anyone successfully used wireless 802.11n successfully at the higher transfer rates (above 54 MBPS)? Is it possible that my TOT Goldcyber connection speed is artificially limited? I notice that my rated speed for my desktop computer connected to my same D-Link DSL-2740B only indicates a rated speed of 100 MBPS. I use Vista Home Premium 64-bit on my destop, Vista Home Premium 32-bit on my ThinkPad T61, but us Windows XP Professional on my older ThinkPad. I feel that my problem is either with my ADSL carrier (TOT) or compatibility with my D-Link DSL-2740B Modem Router and my ThinkPad T61 internal wireless card and/or Belkin wireless n USB adapter. IT-City is letting me swap out the Belkin USB for the D-Link Rangebooster n DWA-140 USB adapter next week when they restock. The only other think that I can think of is that wireless n just doesn't work in Thailand and that maybe I should just stick with wireless G and go with a higher powered wireless USB model such as the business rated EmGenius EUB 362 EXT. Has anyone used this model and had good success with it; I've heard that it is a long range model and has the capability of reaching 108 MBPS through some sort of magic? Looking forward to reading your replies and possible solution.
     Pattayadavid

    Hi!
Intel Wi-Fi cards support full 802.11n speed of 300 Mb/s working at 5 GHz range only. Your D-Link DSL-2740B works only in 2.4 GHz range. So to get 300 Mb/s you have to get another wi-fi router that supports 802.11n in both 2.4 and 5 GHz, for instance Lynksys WRT610N or Apple Airport Extreme or whatever.

  • Problem connecting to Home Hub 2 with a Kindle Fir...

My parents have just bought a Kindle Fire HD and I'm helping them set it up, but I'm having to do it via Skype video because I live a long way away. This is their only wifi device; their PC is connected to their Home Hub 2 via Ethernet cable.
They've got wifi connectivity, but when they try to access the internet on the Kindle they always get directed to the BT Fon login page. Would I be correct in thinking that this is because they're actually connected to *somebody else's* Home Hub 2 in the same street? My parents left the SSID of the Home Hub as the factory default, and that's what they looked for in the list of available networks, so presumably one of their neighbours also has a Home Hub 2 and also hasn't changed the SSID?

    AVR2 wrote:
OK, interesting. So each hub broadcasts two separate SSIDs? I'm sure they said they were connecting to "BTHomehub2-NHRR"
Yes, that is the case, unless they opted out of BT wifi/FON. If they never intend to use any of the free BT hotspots when away from home, then opting out will remove those extra SSIDS.
The automatic connection to BT FON is a common problem. On most devices there is an option to "forget" the BT FON/BT wifi connections, and the device should not re-connect to them.
See if you can get them to do that first, then try and reconnect to BTHomehub2-NHRR, entering the wireless key when prompted.
Do they have any other wireless devices connected to the home hub 2?
