Problems connecting with itunes 5.1

I just updated itunes with the newest updates and when i connect my ipod i dont get any responses from both my ipod or itunes. It looked flawlessly before. I need help

Problem cleared up.Remember I had left a tune in my basket to download. I intended to do this once version 5.1 was up and running - then ran into the problems. However I just downloaded the tune left in my basket and got the message " Have to connect to UK store for this tune" allowed me to agree or not. Once I agreed my tune came down as normal and hey presto everyhting works fine. I can download and browse with everthing in £s not $.
Just a guess but someone needs to look at the defaults for 5.1 and ensure the connections get picked up correctly.
Well my problem solved but dont know how to force a connection into the right store if one does not have something waiting to download.
Cheers for all the advice.

    Hello Makiaveli,
It sounds like you are getting this error code when you are trying to access the iTunes Store.
I found this article with this error listed in the symptoms section, for you that should help troubleshoot the issue named:
Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4123
    Resolution
The cause for these issues is a program that monitors the Winsock protocol for Windows conflicting with Apple software. These programs usually use a Layered Service Provider (LSP) that can help identify the particular program installed. The programs that monitor this protocol have a variety of purposes, including security software, content filtering, and optimization of network traffic.
    To find the LSP:
Download Autoruns for Windows from Microsoft
Look for Autoruns.ZIP and open the compressed folder.
After reviewing the contents and the license, drag autoruns.exe to the desktop.
    Open Autoruns.
Click on the tab that says Winsock Providers.
A list of items should appear. A column showing the publisher should be available.
For items other than Bonjour, which is from Apple, check with the publisher for updates to resolve the conflict between their software and Apple software.
If the publisher is unfamiliar to you, you may be able to use the table below to find out more information about the origin of the modifications to Windows.
Some of the publishers and programs that are known to have versions with a conflict are listed below:

Once you've identified the third-party software that installed the LSP, you should check for updates. If the software is your security software, see iTunes: Troubleshooting security software issues for additional information.
Bytemobile is usually associated with cellular data connection software. You may want to check if your provider has instructions to disable or uninstall that portion of the software, such as these instructions from AT&T.
Note:  If unsure on the origin of your LSP, you may try to locate vendor information to determine which software is responsible for the non-default value here.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Ipod cannot connect with itunes

My iPod will not connect with iTunes, it doesn't even show up on iTunes. I know the cord is working because my ipod is charging, but I don't know what to do?
    Please help!

Sorry for being cut off. More info: iPod Touch was connected to Dell running Windows vista running most recent iTunes. Had a BSOD while attached. The Touch runs fine. Plays music, playlists, all apps, wifi, iTunes without a problem. Can download through iTunes OTA without a problem. When I attach the Touch to the computer, it recognizes that the Touch is attached (is in My Computer), but iTunes gives the message "iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod <name>. Go to summary tab..." I see that this is a common error, but there is no solution I've found.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes with no success. It seems odd that the Touch works fine but cannot connect. I really don't want to wipe it clean.
Any suggestions will be most welcome.

  • I am not able to connect with Itunes Match. I constantly receive the message error 4010

I am not able to connect with Itunes Match. I constantly receive the error 4010.

I can run the general "Update iTunes Match" from the menu but cannot add individual tracks by right-clicking (control-clicking) on them the way I usually do. Then I get the 4010 error message.
Based on other posts here, I can assume the problem is not just me.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

  • Got new ATV and all set up. It keeps loosing connection with iTunes on laptop and have tried everything suggested in set up guide. It works fine for a while then the iTunes account vanishes from 'computer' menu TV screen.  Full Wifi signal on both devices

Got new ATV and all set up. It keeps loosing connection with iTunes on laptop and have tried everything suggested in set up guide. It works fine for a while then the iTunes account vanishes from 'computer' menu TV screen.  Full Wifi signal on both devices so can't think what could be causing it to happen. Any suggestions please?

Sorry, I updated another thread I was a part of but didn't update my own thread.....ughhh!
I updated all of my ATV 2's and 3's to the latest firmware when it was released and have been problem free since. I do believe the major issue of not being able to connect after a period of inactivity has been corrected with the latest ATV firmware.
I can look at my network connection table using "netstat -an" in a CMD window and I do not see the massive number of connections I saw before the update.
Here is a link to the other thread I was referring to above:

Have you applied the latest firmware updates to your ATV 3's?

    Sorry to butt in again:
But your original post(s) were not so clear.
So if your original phone WAS locked and the LOCKED one got replaced from the APPLE store...then there is a 100% chance it IS locked.
Sorry, but there is no such thing as a free lunch...
    Check with Apple anyways...

  • Issue connecting with iTunes Match

Hi, i've got an issue connecting with iTunes Match. Most of the time iTunes doesn't connect to iTunes Match when launching the app. I just see the cloud symbol that indicates it tries to connect. And it just keeps on going. I then have to quit iTunes and relaunch it. Type in my Apple ID password. And still nothing. But around a third or fourth time I usually get a connecting going and then listen to music
And I'm not impatient. I give it some minutes everytime while opening and browsing the iTunes Store.
And the same thing happens after Sleep Mode. It is kind of annoying. Having open and close iTunes all the time.
Is there anything I can do? Am I perhaps doing something wrong? Is anyone experiencing the same problem or issue?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Yes, your music remains on you computer.

  • No connection with iTunes

    Hello,
Our daugthers Ipod operated well during the last 13 months. Since one week there is a screen that tells me to connect with iTunes. My computer doesn't recognise the iPod. I have to reset the securitycode but that's not possible because the iPod only indicates that I have to connect with iTunes. Restore doesn't help, Reset doesn't also
Please help and many thanks in advance!
On behave of our daughter, Jan

I have the same problem.  Mail works, but I can't connect with safari, the app store or iTunes.  I've seen a recommendation to change the time to a year from now, but then my vpn certificate stops working.  My safari worked for about 5 minutes yesterday, but only one time.

  • Why has my iphone has stopped connecting with itunes?

why has my iphone has stopped connecting with itunes?

You can try resetting your iPad and iPhone by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

  • Blocked my computers connection with itunes/apple...?

This has given me a headache and a half. Techies, please take the time to read through this. I know its complicated...
So, my old ipod was jailbroken. It stopped working so i was determined to unjailbreak it so my warranty would not be voided. I followed this guide to restore it.
    http://hackstor.blogspot.com/2010/03/restore-with-saurik-method.html
I have windows, and this guide told me to select start, and then run, and type this in C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
The guide told me to open the file up through notepad and add this to the bottom of it  74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com
I did this.. and it then told me to open up run again (terminal for mac users) and type in cmd.exe and the following commands:
    ipconfig /flushdns
    ipconfig /registerdns
I did this and succesfully restored my ipod touch. I then got a new ipod touch but when i tried to sync it with my computer it wouldnt work. i decided that its because i forced my computer to recognize the jailbroken software, and not apples software. I tried to reinstall itunes. Itunes was reinstalling and the status bar was filled up all the way, as if it was done installing.. but it stayed like this. I decided that its because my computer was still trying to recognize the jailbroken software. I took the line "74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com" out of my hosts file and went back to cmd.exe and typed in ipconfig /flushdns and ipconfig /registerdns thinking that it would solve my problem, but now when i go to apple.com and click on download itunes, the link that normally says "DOWNLOAD NOW" is not even there.
Here is a screenshot of my problem
I have somehow completely blocked my computers connection with itunes or apple. I have a new ipod waiting to be synced but i cant even download itunes.. and if i do itunes might not even properly connect with apple. Yes, i made sure my warranty was not voided by restoring my ipod.. but it doesnt help if i cant even use it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please read the guide i used to restore my jailbroken ipod so you can understand what i did. I am running windows xp.
    Thank you.
