Problems converting images(gif,tif,bmp,jpg) to PDF

Hi,<br />I installed PDF Generator Elements 7.2.2 using the turnkey installation JBoss,MySql and the JDK 1.4.2_04 included) in Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition with SP1 ENU (evaluation edition) with the same credentials with the one that installed MS Office 2003,but the deployment of the Configuration Manager failed to start the Java service of JBoss..I changed the logon credentials for the JBoss for Adobe Livecycle(Local System Account) and run again the configuration Manager..This time Java Service did start and the database was initialised but I could not convert anything  to PDF..So I changed back the logon credentials(of the JBoss for Adobe LiveCycle service) to the one that installed Office,I waited for the JavaService to start and run again the configuration Manager...This time everything worked out(with the deployment)and seemed to go well..I can convert doc,txt,rtf,xls and so on to PDF..The file types I cannot convert though are the following:<br />bmp,gif,jpg,tif and everything related to Acrobat due to:<br /><br />(JBoss log file)<br />2007-03-13 05:53:05,031 INFO  [STDOUT] Command line '"C:\Adobe\LiveCycle\jboss\j2re1.4.2_04_compiler\bin\javaw.exe"'<br />2007-03-13 05:53:05,406 INFO  [STDOUT] java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: com.adobe.logging.AdobeLogManagerImpl.init(Ljava/lang/Class;Lcom/adobe/service/Manager;)V <br />2007-03-13 05:53:05,406 INFO  [STDOUT]      at com.adobe.service.bslj.Controller.<init>(Controller.java:109)<br />2007-03-13 05:53:05,406 INFO  [STDOUT]      at com.adobe.service.bslj.BslJ.initController(BslJ.java:51)<br />2007-03-13 05:53:05,406 INFO  [STDOUT]      at<br />com.adobe.native2pdf.bmc.AcrobatConverterServer.main(AcrobatConverterServer.java:67)<br />Any suggestion will be appreciated either on the installation walkthrough or everything in this post..<br />Thanks in advance,<br />Katerina

In the Filetype Settings for Adobe Acrobat I can see only the :
Specify the file extensions for file types accepted for this application, separated by commas.
Filename Extensions : bmp,gif,e.t.c.
Is this setting available in PDF Generator Elements?
If so,then everything went wrong with the installation...
Thanks,though...

  • Problems converting images to PDF or PDF A1B (OS is already english)

    Hello,
    I'm trying to convert images with the PDF Generator Elements. I installed it on Windows Server 2003 ENU with Office 2003 (English version) and Photoshop CS2 Tryout (English version).
    I tried to convert .jpg, .gif, .bmp and .tif into PDF or PDF/A with always the same result: 'conversion timed out'. I searched the forums, however all I found was that point with the English OS. I already changed that, but it is still not working (however the .doc and .xls conversion is working now). Any hints to configurations, places to start to search for errors (there is nothing useful in the jboss logs) etc. would be really appreciated.
    I also tried it via watched folders, with the same result.
    Regards, Karin

    Hello,
    The only thing I can suggest right now is check the settings in your watch folder and double check that the following are set to '*', meaning any file type
    'Specify the file extensions of file types accepted for this folder, separated by commas. *Allowed extensions:'
    Also check the following that you purchased the right software:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/server/pdfgenerator/pdfs/ds_pdfgenerator.pdf
    For example, the proffessional version of PDF Generator can be used to convert any form of file, from image to office documents such as word and excel.
    Notice that Postscript can only be used to convert ps and prm files. Hopefully, this will help

  • Problem servletrunner image/gif

    Hello, I'm french so excuse me for my poor english.
    In fact I only try to display an image located at the following adress :
    http://localhost:8080/images/image.gif
    I'd like this image be on a html page generated by a servlet, but that's impossible. How can I do this, i think I have to modify the file "servlet.properties" in order to indicate the way to my image...
    So please can somebody help me
    Thanks a lot
    here is my code :
    out.println("<IMG SRC=\"http://localhost:8080/images/logo_SEEE.gif\">");

    Hi
    I'm no super expert, but I can't see anything wrong with your the println method.
    But here is a simple checklist:
    -You ar not trying to get an image from another server then your own (localhost)
    -You have an object (HttpServletResponse) with the name out (not default in a servlet like in jsp...)
    -You know that the links under is pointing to two diferent locations. /images/image.gif and /images/logo_SEEE.gif.
    If you kan see the image with the first link then if you look at the source of the html(servelt page) you should have the same address. The servlet has nothing to do with an image. It only writes out an address to the image witch the browser uses for a new request...

  • Acrobat 7 not converting images and saving as .jpg, any ideas?

    I am running Windows XP with MS Word 07. When I copy a photo in Word, open Adobe Acrobat 7 (latest update) and select "File > Create .pdf > From Clipboard Image" all seems to work fine--the photo shows up on the screen within Acrobat. The problem starts when I click "File > Save As > .jpg > Save." I go to the location that I saved the file; however, it isn't there. I changed the folder option in xp to show all hidden files and still nothing. Has any had this problem and or ideas on how to fix? Thank you!

    I did try saving it as a .pdf first and then did a "save as" .jpg. Acrobat seems to run through the process just fine; however, when I go to where the file should be, it's not there. I like using Acrobat for this versus MS Paint because Acrobat seems so much faster. With MS Paint, I find that I have to enter in dimensions to have the .jpg show correctly.

  • Problem converting images to PDF

    Hi, I'm having some problems with Acrobat PDF Maker from within word. I have Acrobat 9 and when I convert a document that has EMF images in it it doesn't convert the images fully and bits are left out (looks like it's missing layers if that makes sense). If I use bitmaps it works and it's also fine if I actually go to print and choose Adobe PDF (I don't do this normally because PDF maker is so much quicker). Any help or suggestions would be appriciated.

    It appears like the images were not sized before use and is currently in front of the text. Might you try going back to the image and sizing so there is no white space above. This may be related more to LaTeX than Acrobat. Did you create a PS file from LaTeX, use the LaTeX converter to PS or PDF?

  • Problem convert word 2007 acrobat 8 graphics to pdf

    Having difficulty converting certain graphics from Word on Windows 7 Professional PC to Adobe PDF.
    The same problem exists on the same PC regardless of whether Word 2007 or Word 365 is the originating software. So it is not a problem with the version of Word being used as some blogs have suggested.
    Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.4 is installed, and Adobe 8 Distiller is configured according to the settings required.
    PDF is created by using Word: File > Print > Adobe PDF Maker

    OK.
    Cracked it.  I hope this saves you some time.
    The issues all seem to stem from Word 2007.
    Things to get urls working seem to be as follows :
    all links in word can't have a trailing /
    http://www.subliminal-power.co.uk/ - NO
    http://www.subliminal-power.co.uk - YES
    When you add a url, each url must have a Screen Tip.  You should have this anyway if you're sharing your word doc. It is all for the visually impared and audio I believe.
    You have to use tables and not word art for boxes.
    Happy Days

  • OS X 10.8  Problems with images and layout when printing to PDF from any web browser

    Hi there,  I just bought a new macbook air and running OS X 10.8.  This problem happens in both Safari or Chrome:  When I go to print to a PDF file, the website suddenly drops most images and formatting, ending up in a very old-fashioned layout.  Is this something new with OS X 10.8, or any other suggestions as to what I can do?

    No difference.  I have discovered that it is probably the websit (weird) that is mainly at fault, as I tried the same thing on 2 other machines and the same thing happens to a varying degree on this website, and a lesser degree on other sites.  Thanks for your help, it may not be OS X 10.8 at the root of the problem.
    Yes if it prints to a printer in the same manner, and it occurs regardless of browser it is the website.

  • Error while converting Image -to- PDF and then to PDF/A

    Please give me the solution to convert PDF to PDF/A?

    I've just read a footnote in the API documentation which indicates that the transformPDF function cannot be used for this purpose:
    "GS_Enterprise said on Nov 24, 2007 at 12:03 PM :
    Please note that the parameter "inPdfDoc" for transformPDF assumes that the stream content is an XFA-based PDF, and that it's not an XFA-based PDF with a PDF background (also known as "XFA foreground"). In other words, this function does not convert any input PDF to PDF/A, but only those PDFs generated from an XFA template which does not include any static PDF content as a background."

    useWhat OS is the database running on? If it is a *nix flavour, you can call out to image magick convert utility (it is pre-installed on most linux variants, and you can compile it from source for other unixes). So you would probably store the blob into a temp file on the database server, call out to the shell to execute convert, and then load a blob from the converted file. See http://imagemagick.org for more information.
    If that is not an option, you might be able to use Java Advanced Imaging API from a Java stored proc to convert between those image formats. See http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jai/downloads/download-1_1_2.html

  • Java Code to Convert GIF to BMP

    Hi,
    Could anyone please tell me the Java Code to convert the GIF image to BMP image.
    Thanks,

    Here is a sample code for reading an Excel file. It uses JExcel API:
    package com.quicklyjava;
    import jxl.*;
    import jxl.read.biff.BiffException;
    import java.io.File;
    import java.io.IOException;
    public class JavaExcelRead {
    * @param args
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    try {
    //Create a workbook object from the file at specified location.
    //Change the path of the file as per the location on your computer.
    Workbook wrk1 = Workbook.getWorkbook(new File("C:/test.xls"));
    //Obtain the reference to the first sheet in the workbook
    Sheet sheet1 = wrk1.getSheet(0);
    //Obtain reference to the Cell using getCell(int col, int row) method of sheet
    Cell colArow1 = sheet1.getCell(0, 0);
    Cell colBrow1 = sheet1.getCell(1, 0);
    Cell colArow2 = sheet1.getCell(0, 1);
    //Read the contents of the Cell using getContents() method, which will return
    //it as a String
    String str_colArow1 = colArow1.getContents();
    String str_colBrow1 = colBrow1.getContents();
    String str_colArow2 = colArow2.getContents();
    //Display the cell contents
    System.out.println("Contents of cell Col A Row 1: \""+str_colArow1 + "\"");
    System.out.println("Contents of cell Col B Row 1: \""+str_colBrow1 + "\"");
    System.out.println("Contents of cell Col A Row 2: \""+str_colArow2 + "\"");
    } catch (BiffException e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    } catch (IOException e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    You can further process this to convert the data extracted into XML. Hope this helps!

  • How do I change "save image" to save as jpg or gif rather than an html pointer to the image?

    When I try to download images it is saving them as an HTML file instead of the actual image. I want to save images in their native jpg or gif formats as they are on the web. Downloading wallpapers for example is not possible. Without this I'm not going to stick with Firefox which is unfortunate because so far I love everything else about it, especially sync. I tried to download a Buffalo Bills helmet to use as an icon for a Bills fan forum which I wanted a Firefox shortcut for on my homescreen. I had to use the Android browser to do that because of this problem. Ridiculous!

    Unfortunately, Firefox for Android works quite differently than desktop Firefox in this regard. On the desktop, if you open about:config and set browser.download.useDownloadDir to false, then you prompted for the save location and file name. On Android, this simply stops Save Image from working.
    I was able to access the file by renaming Images.htm to a real file name using the ES File Explorer app. But... if you save images often, that would get old fast.
    Note: I think the name Images.htm came from the Google images results page that I was saving from, and the file name will depend on the site. When I saved from a site where the images had their own names, .jpeg was appended instead of .htm.

  • .Shg images converted to .gifs in output, popup funcionality erratic

    Hello all, I just recently published my formerly Winhelp
    output to Webhelp instead and have been fairly pleased with how
    everything has converted. It eliminated a lot of display problems.
    However, I noticed that all of my .shg images using popups/jumps
    were converted to .gif images and placed in a folder titled
    'images' in my Webhelp output. Strangely enough some of these .gif
    images still show popups in the output, however others do not and
    are non-interactive. I can't see any difference between those that
    still function as .shg and those that are now static.
    Any advice? Or instructions on how to publish Webhelp as that
    my .sgh images remain such and continue to display the linked
    popups?
    Details: RH7 for Word, XP is my OS and I used Word 2003.

  • Converting TIF to JPG messes with colour

    Hi. I just purchased a program called Bracketeer (a really awesome program for making HDR photos), but it is only able to output images in TIF format. I want to save some harddrive space, so I tried to convert these TIFs to JPG with Preview, but doing this conversion makes the photo darker. I also tried using iPhoto to do the conversion but the same thing happened.
    I also tried using Preview to convert the TIF to a PNG and JPEG-2000 and in both cases it worked fine (the converted images look exactly the same as the TIF). Something else I found is that I could convert the PNG to a JPG (so start as TIF, convert to PNG, then convert the PNG to JPG) and the image still looked fine. Because PNG is lossless I'll probably continue using this method to convert the TIFs to JPGs, but I'm wondering why Preview and iPhoto can't properly convert the TIF directly to JPG?
    -Eric

    My guess is that this "Bracketeer" application fails to embed a relevant ICC profile in its output and Preview is filling in the blanks with a default profile that does not accurately describe the color space of the image. Can you post an example TIFF?

  • Converting JPG to PDF causes Fit Width problem

    Hello,
    I'm using Acrobat 8 Pro on Vista, Core 2 Duo, 3 GB ram, plenty of storage space, etc...
    I have about two hundred JPG images (500 to 700 KB each) that I want to convert and combine into a single PDF document. I clicked on Combine Files, Add Folder, selected Larger File Size and continued from there to create the PDF. But the resulting PDF document has a problem when viewed in Reader or any other PDF viewer. The problem is, when I switch to Fit Width view, only the first 3 pages/images fit the width of the screen. All the following pages/images actually get smaller than a Fit Page view.
    Does anybody know why this is happening?
    Thanks.

    Are you viewing the images in "Continuous" mode (you can see more than one
    page in the window at a time)? The JPEG images may be of different
    dimensions, and in continuous mode the page width zoom is set by the width
    of the first visible page. Changing out of continuous mode will allow the
    zoom to change for each page width as you scroll through the document.

  • I am suddenly having a problem when trying to open a .tif file in Adobe bridge. The picture opens in firefox. It never did this before. How do I get my .tif and .jpg files to open in bridge?

    I open Photoshop cs5 version of bridge. Go to a folder that contains photos in .tif, ljpg, etc. file types. When I click on a .tif or .jpg file that I want to open in the raw window of bridge (which it has done for the past year) in opens instead in firefox. How do I stop this from happening????

    It sounds like a problem with Photoshop rather than with Firefox. I suggest posting it on their forum @ http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop
