Problems Converting to Outlook And/Or Importing

HELP! My business future is in your hands. I have been a Palm user for many years and my entire contact, todo, etc... lists are on the 4.0.1 version of the desktop. I just got a new Windows 7 computer and you know the rest...the Palm desktop won't work.
Is there any way possible to get the data from the Palm program into Outlook? Or is there is another program that I could that I could buy that would do it or is there another inexpensive contact manager that would import the .dba files?

The .dat files cannot be imported. You will need to copy and paste those files into the appropriate folders in your username folder on the PC for Palm desktop.
Make sure Palm desktop is closed.
On the c drive, go to program files-palm or palmone. Find your username folder. In that folder you should see an address, datebook, memos, etc. folder. Open the address folder and paste the address.dat file into that folder. Do the same with your .dat files for the other folders. After you have completed the pasting, open Palm desktop and see if your data is there. If it is, you can then use the pocket copy program to move the data to Outlook.
Another option for transferring your data to Outlook is to export the data from Palm desktop in .tab or .csv format then import into Outlook.

Since Hotmail was converted to Outlook I can only access through the Mobile option. I keep getting a message suggesting I upgrade to the latest version of Safari. I tried downloading the most recent upgrade that I could find but the problem is still not solved. How do I fix this very annoying situation?

No problem here on 10.6.8 and Safari 5.1.9 - is that the version of Safari you have? If not you can download it here:

Problems Syncing with Outlook and Calendar

We are trying to roll out outlook 2007 together with outlook connector 7.2u1 at patch level 125361-03. Installation goes ok. But we have a major problem with Calendars.
Having used Sun Mail & Calendar for years our users subscribe to a number of calendars, these show up in outlook in the left hand pane and are selectable to view, which syncs the calendar into outlook - all well and good.
Now the major problem, when syncing another persons calendar to view availability etc, all the reminders get sent to the user viewing the calendar as well as going to the owner - where we have users that subscribe to around 20-30 calendars thats alot of other peoples reminders that pop up on the screen !
Any help greatfully received.

Problems when using outlook and outlook express, cannot send more than app 100 KB.

Since app 6 weeks ago we have problems when sending pictures etc, we cannot send more than app 100KB. If we send more there is error code
Socket Error 10053, Error number 0x800CCC0F. Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection.
I have made no changes to either computer. Restoring the laptop to Nov 2011 made no difference.We use Outlook Exlorer and Outlook.
When I take my laptop to my neighbors house, who has Time Warner, I can send 10MB files without any problems, using the EXACT same settings.
Spending over 2 hours with a very informed Verizon technician on the phone did nothing.
I first blamed our server, turns out the culprit is Verizon.
Any ideas?

Outlook and mac mail client attachements freeze, skype freeze

Hi all,
I am working in a company that many users have Macbooks Air and Pro. One specific user with a a Macbook air that has a clean install of Yosemite (not even a week ) started to have problems with the mac mail client attachements. Every time he tried to insert a file the mail client frozen and had to force quit. After a while i observe the same issue on Outlook mail client. At last after a reboot that he did to see if that gonna solve the problem then Skype started to freeze also and had to quit every time. So now, so far none of the above apps work as expected and the Skype doesn't work at all. It has to be noted here that we did the upgrade from Mavericks to Yosemite to solve the Skype issue that he had also for a couple months now and it wasn't resolved from Skype's support team( never answered). So for now we have again the same problem and and with a fresh install of Yosemite i am started to thinking about hardware issues or even broken drivers, code to Yosemite etc. The laptop has an encrypted SSD using Filevault, SEP, Office and Acrobat Reader nothing else.
Any thoughts to solve this issue?

Thank you for your answer, yes i did erase the hard drive and install Yosemite!! After a second call that i made with my client he said that first of all:
The problems of the Outlook and mac mail client attachements freeze started after he install Cisco VPN Anyconnect (I don't think that this has to do anything with the freezing) so he tried to remove this using Appcleaner. After this not only the Outlook and mac mail client attachements freeze problem was remaining but he saw that skype started to freeze also. No matter how many uninstall and install he made to the Skype, Skype continues to freeze. For the mail freeze i advise him to use the verify/repair disk permissions and so far that one solved. The remaining problem is the Skype Freeze so far. so to avoid Appcleaner and still the problem persist even with older versions of Skype. I also create another profile account in Yosemite and Skype seemed to played well there. But i would need to solve in his account so to avoid any file transfer. Do you have any idea why that happened? Is it a file permissions problem? Corrupt/missing files in users profile? This one problem had in the past as i wrote in the previous comment and couldn't work at that time.
Any thought on that? What could be wrong?

Outlook and Word 2013 freezing up

I used to have Office 2010 installed on my Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit PC. It never gave me any problems. I upgraded to Office 2013 (32-bit - 15.0.4535.1006) awhile back and Word and Outlook started continuously freezing whenever I was editing a document or email.
If I am just reading email, it is fine. When I click on Forward or Reply, or compose a new email, it freezes for at least 15 seconds, and often much longer. I may get a few words typed before it freezes the 1st time, but it always does. If I keep typing,
or try to click somewhere else in the app, it will eventually tell me the program is not responding. After it comes back, I may get a couple of sentences out, but it will eventually freeze again. A simple 10 second email often takes several minutes to complete.
It doesn't matter if the email is in the preview pane, or if I click the Pop Out button to have it in its own window. It also doesn't matter if I open Outlook in Safe Mode or not.
I found kb article 921541. After using the Fixit tool from there and changing the default printer to the MS XPS printer, Word seems to be working. So it would seem, even though it is the same problem in both Office apps, and they started
locking up at the same time, the problems are unrelated.

I too have the same problem with both Outlook and Word 2013 which are both freezing up for some seconds every 2 or 3 minutes when writing email or document.
It happens when I have an Internet connection. If not connected to Internet, everything works fine, Outlook and Work don't freeze at all.
So, I guess it is related to Internet connection, which is filtered with a firewall. Maybe that filtering could lead to these issues, however, on another workstation set up with Outlook 2010 on the same network, there is no problem.
I tried the classic solutions, like disabling video card acceleration and so on, but it doesn't change anything. Also, there is no error or warning in Event Viewer. Finally, it had already happened 3 months ago, and using a network sniffer to watch for network
flows, I had allowed some IP addresses on the firewall. But problem came back...

Questions about converting files in order to import to iMovie '09?

I was able to import the videos from my camera (.mts files) into iMovie '09, but now when I click Import from Camera, iSight opens up instead. Since I can't find out why it won't open up my camera files now, I have decided on just converting the files. I just have a question about converting though. The videos I recorded from my camera are in HD. They're very good quality. If I convert the videos from .mts into .mp4, would that reduce the quality of the video?

When that happens to me I get stubborn and make iMovie see the camera by shutting down and reopening iMovie, because I don't want another level of transcoding. If that doesn't work and you have a card reader of even better, a sd slot on your iMac, just plug the card in. If it appears on the desktop iMovie should see it, and if it appears on your desktop then iMovie should read it.
I have a Canon HFS 100 that works best if I take the card out and plug it into the computer.
The times I converted to .mp4, I thought the quality did degrade, because it had to be converted to .mp4 and then imported as AIC. But I am not an expert on whether iMovie can deal with .mp4 directly.
Canons require that one have the camcorder plugged into a power outlet, another reason to use a card reader.
What kind of camcorder do you have? With some camcorders, if one takes both photos and video, the video won't be read.
When nothing works, occasionally deleting iMovie preferences works.

You do not export anything.
Instead, sync the content from Outlook to your device via iTunes.

Problems converting / importing PSE9 catalog into LR4

Im having problems converting / importing my PSE 9 photos into LR4. I went through the "File / Upgrade PS..." without success. It seems to work...ie LR4 closes down and then creates a new catalog but then a box appears saying that the photos could not be imported because they are missing or damaged. I then thought that my PSE 9 catalog is not set up right BUT LR4 tell me that the 27023 photos could not be imported for the reason stated. In other words LR does see the PSE catalog because it give the correct amount of photo's. I then did a small test by dragging some photos from my PSE 9 into LR4 and that seems to work. All the keyword tags move across. Is there a problem or dont I understand the process?

If I remember properly, it will not be an onerous task. What Exiftool will do is transfer the notes to some other metadata field that LR uses ... and I believe it can be done as a batch job, thus one execution of Exiftool does this for your entire photo collection (assuming its all under one parent folder).

I am working with someone who imported their Outlook, then uninstalled Thunderbird; they now want to re-import Outlook and it will not work. What should I do?

I am working with someone (my boss), who wanted to import Outlook into Thunderbird. I helped him to do this. For reasons unknown, he then uninstalled Thunderbird etc. He now wants to repeat this process; however, Outlook will not import now. The import freezes about half way through. How do I help him? I'm not sure if the issue is with Outlook or Thunderbird. I suggested we revert back to the original Outlook files he had saved when we first did the import and try again (to see if the issue was with a corrupted file in Outlook etc.,) but he has since updated that. I believe Thunderbird was correctly uninstalled, so, I'm not sure where the problem exists...I'm even less sure how to fix it.

Yeah, I went back and removed the profile folder using the info below. That appeared to remove all the original files.

Problems with outlook and address book contacts: my outlook contacts had around 3,000 entries. Outlook duplicated by itself and now outlook and address book have each over 340,000. What should I do?

I reinstalled microsoft office and, thus, outlook, and reinstalled mac OS X system and applications. While I managed to delete outlook contacts so that I can re-sync with my blackberry, the contacts at Mac Address Book were not deleted and still have over 340,000 entries. I do not mind deleting all contacts since I have back up, but I have not been able to delete them. Also, when I go at Address Book and try to delete or merge duplicated entries, the system takes forever and never ends because of such large amount of entries. Worse, when I do so I run out of RAM memory.
My Macbook pro is just 2 months old.
What should I do? Is there a way to delete my Mac Address Book without having the problem above?

I've also tried importing via iTunes File > Add file to library > click on file on my PC, but then after a second the "Add to Library" window disappears and the Voice file is nowhere to be found in iTunes. I tried the link you suggest: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall but when I tried to "Run Now", I get the error message: " Troubleshooting cannot continue because an error has occurred... etc.... [code 80072F8F]" So googled this error & found a tool called (80072f8f) Repair Tool - I'm leery to download yet more stuff from non-microsoft sites -- any recommendations?
