Problems copying pictures to iPod

I have a fifth generation iPod which was recently replaced under warranty due to a fault. The previous one loaded music, pictures etc with no problems but this one refuses to load pictures!! I have set the preferences to sync the pictures from "My Pictures" which contain all my images.
When I connect the iPod the music is synced ok but no attempt seems to be made to load the pics.
This is driving me mad. Can anyone suggest a solution?

My first question would be, in the itunes program, go to edit > Preferences. Make sure the ipod is connected to the computer and displaying "Do Not Disconnect" with that all-too-familiar flashing circle. From there, go to the ipod tab, and from the ipod tab select the Photos tab. Where is your ipod set to sync--you say my pictures, just to verify check this. next, make sure that the check box is marked to sync for my pictures. if that's all done post back, either I or someone else will get back to you on this to elaborate.

I had no problems before I updated my iPod software when transferring songs from iTunes to my iPod. Now I get a message "Some of the songs in iTunes music library were not copied to the iPod Because your iPod software is too old."
I need help because what is the point of downloading any music if i cant get it on my iPod ><
Its funny because the software is up to date.

  • Problem copying songs from ipod to new computer/itunes

    Hello all,
I'm hoping that some of you will be able to help me out on this issue. I need to restore my song database from my ipod to the a new HD however when i copy all the songs they are all named random 4 letter caracters. I used ipod access to copy the songs over. Now on the ipod they all show up with their proper names, however when i try to import them into itunes, half of them are converted to the right names and half are random characters. also i've tried a software called id3 tags which names the songs from the tag information, however for some reason these songs dont have tag information (but they are named correctly on the ipod)
Now is there any way to get these songs names to display correctly?
40 gig ipod ver 4 using itunes in win xp
    Luke

i can tell you how to get the songs from your ipod on to your computer if that helps
    1) make sure there is a "itunes music" folder somewhere in your documents. if not, then just load any cd into itunes and the folder will automatically be created.
    2) plug your ipod in. go to "my computer" then into your ipod icon.
    3) search the folders until you come across one which contains around 50 folders, all beginning with "f".
    4) select all of these and copy them.
5)go into the "itunes music" folder and create a new folder. it doesn't matter what you call it.
    6) paste all of the folders into your new folder. this will take FOREVER!!!!
    7) when thats all finished, open up itunes.
    8) got to "file" then "add folder to library". find the new folder you created in "itunes music" and select it to be added.
    9) this, again, will take a long time
    10) all of your songs should be there
please tell me if this does not work because i haven't done this in a while and i may left out a step or done something wrong.
    hope this helps!!!!!!

  • Problems Copying Playlist to Ipod

When I move a playlist to my ipod from itunes some of the songs are transferred to my ipod despite the fact the song is already on my ipod. As a result, I have 2 copies of the song on my ipod. Why is this happening?

"Isn't there a way just to synch everything from the iPod to my new laptop? I'd just die if I lost all my playlists!"
Use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • IPod touch is having problems with pictures?

App Store all the pictures are blank.  iTunes all the pictures show only a musical note. App for videos is all blank (just a white screen).  I have checked and both my iTunes and my iPod touch are up to date with apple. I have also shut down my iPod touch and restarted it and it has not corrected the problem.  Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Hey Silverdemon, sounds like a short, most likely in the headphones. Try a different set of headphones with this iPod or try the headphones with a different device. If the problem stops with your iPod or it moves to another device, then replace the headphones. If within 1 year of date of purchase Apple will replace the headphones for  free if problem is a defect, not abuse. If the problem continues with a different set of headphones, check the port for damage and foreign debris. If you note debris, attempt to remove it, if damage noted contact Apple and set up an appointment to have it evaluated. if nothing appears wrong, try plugging / unplugging to jack about 12 times maybe corrosion on the contacts if so that should clean it. Next thing to try reset your iPod. After that try restore from backup. Last resort, restore to new. Just make sure you make a full backup to your computer before you restore so no data is lost. If nothing works, contact Apple and set up an appointment to have your iPod evaluated. Good luck, Cheers.

  • Copy pictures from windows to iPhone

I'm using iTunes on a Win7 PC and want to copy pictures to my iPhone.  I created a root or base folder called iPod Pictures (I had an iPod touch) and in that folder are a bunch of other folders containing the pictures.  NO pictures are stored in the root folder, only additional folders with the picture files.  When iTunes copies those pictures to my iPhone it duplicates all the pictures.  One set is in the iPhone album called "Photo Library" and then there is an album for each folder that was originally in that root folder.  So I have two complete sets of pictures..........way too many apps taking up too much space, too many songs and two sets of the same pictures is wasting space.  On the assumption that I'm doing something wrong in this process, what do I need to do to fix this problem?

There is no duplication.  Photo Library is the summary of all photos that are synced to the Device.
    example here:
I have 2 sub-folders CAR and PERSONAL synced to the Device:
    Car (20photos)
    Personal (11photos)
    Therefore:
    Photo Library (total 31 Photos)

  • Urgent advice please on transferring pictures to Ipod

I would like to download my pictures from my pc hard disc to Ipod, in order to delete them afterwards & create more space on my pc.
2 problems in doing this: 1) when I synchronize the picture folders to copy them onto Ipod, I suspect Itunes copies them somewhere again on my C-drive, since my C-drive runs out of storage space. So: where are these files stored so I can delete my previous attempts?
    2) In order to solve the above mentioned problem, I tried transferring files one by one, but the 2nd time I transfer pictures to Ipod, it will delete the pictures downloaded the first time.
Please help me, since my pc is running out of space and Ipod is not helping me to resolve the problem where I bought it for, in fact, it makes my problems worse!
    Thanks very much in advance!
    dell inspiron 8100   Windows XP

Seems like your hard disk is close to completely full!
    1) To synchronise, iTunes has to optimise and prepare the files it transfers to your iPod and needs some space in your Temp directory while it prepares them, before it transfers them over. You can safely delete your Temp files as long as you have no installs in progress.
    2) What you say makes sense since you cannot manually add a file at a time to your photo library without deleting the old ones.
What I would do is to go to iTunes>Edit>Preferences>Music Tab and enable "Manually manage songs and playlists". Also enable Disk Use by ticking the box next to it.
    Click OK
Then open Windows Explorer through My Computer and you can copy the photos and any files you want to back up to a folder on your iPod disk drive. Check the folder and make sure everything you want is there. Then you can delete the files you do not want stored on your hard drive and create space.
IMPORTANT:: You have thus backed-up the data on your iPod - but if you lose it or it breaks down, you will lose all your precious irrecoverable data, so a good bet is to buy another hard drive, internal or external and ASAP copy the data to that hard drive or onto CDs so that you have a back-up. Also, Pictures or music thus stored as a back up is not seen via the iPod interface - you can only access the data through Windows Explorer (or Mac Finder).
    Good luck!!!

  • Hello, I have a problem 4th with my iPod touch

    Hello,
I have a problem 4th with my iPod touch
I just wanted to edit a picture, and then he is always crashed.
Hope someone can tell me what to do.
    THX, Soundwave1409

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

Your problem is excessive swapping of data between physical memory and virtual memory.
That can happen for two reasons:
    (1) You have a long-running process with a memory leak (i.e., a bug), or
    (2) You don't have enough memory installed for your usage pattern.
Tracking down a memory leak can be difficult, and it may come down to a process of elimination. In Activity Monitor, select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected. Click the heading of the Real Mem column in the process table once or twice to sort the table with the highest value at the top. Repeat with the Virtual Mem column. If one process (not including "kernel_task") is using much more memory than all the others, that could be an indication of a leak. A better indication would be a process that continually grabs more and more memory over time without ever releasing it.
If you don't have an obvious memory leak, your options are to install more memory (if possible) or to run fewer programs simultaneously.

Using iPOD mini 1.4.1. Computere specs are below.
Having great difficulty with iPOD mini. Cannot copy tunes or playlists......"that have been purchased via iTunes store ........... Get a window telling a particular song cannot be copied, and lists other "problems" meaning songs which also cannot be loaded.
Does this have anything to do with the "cannot copy an iTune more than 7 times? If so, why won't it copy a tune that was just purchased and is being copied to the iPOD mini for the first time?
If this "7 times rule" (not sure where I read that, but recall doing so) is what's in the way, is there anything I can do about it on my end or do I have to call Apple.
This is not a situation where I'm just out to make copies for college friends. This is a problem related to having the Mac in the shop for the better part of a month. It was taken in to upgrade RAM from 256 MB to 1 GB, a routine procedure I was told. however, they had "issues" installing the RAM, resulting in a failed logic board, and other problems, then another logic board failure.
Now it's home. Trying to determine whether or not it's really fixed. The iTunes area is one problem we've already noticed. When we hooked it up, it copied the entire music library, went through several attempts to straighten it out, including "syncing," unsyncing" whatever. It would just delete songs, then we had to recopy them back onto the iPod. In general, a mess.
Any thoughts/advice would be very much appreciated.

    Sorry, one more thing:

    Somethings's seriously wrong here.

  • Can't get pictures on iPod...

So I've never had problems getting pictures on my iPod when I had the older version of iTunes. The problem is, my sister got an iPod and it required the new version of iTunes, so we upgraded...
Now, I can't seem to get the photos I want on my iPod!
In the photos tab of my iPod, it gives me these options:
    Sync photos from: 'My Pictures'
    All photos
    Selected folders
It then lists all my folders..
The problem is, I just want to add certain folders, but it will only let me click 'Sync Photos from;' and I can't figure out why! My iPod is set to let me manage things manually..
    Whats going on!?
    ~Kourtney~

My problem is, that the only box I can click is the 'Sync Photos From:" and it won't let me choose a "iPod photos' folder. Its automatically set to 'My Pictures' and won't let me change it.
I don't know if I have to let it sync all the pictures first!
I miss my old version of iTunes where I could just pick the folders of my pictures I wanted on my iPod =(

  • Problem transfering video to ipod

I bought some video files (tv episodes) from the iTunes store and for some reason some of them will not transfer onto my iPod. The first few files worked fine and play on my iPod fine too (it's a season's worth of a TV show I'm discussing here). But the last few downloads refuse to transfer. They will play on the computer but when I drag them onto my iPod - a new 160G classic - it tells me "XX was not copied to the iPod because it cannot be played on this iPod."
Incidentally, I am running the latest iTunes version (7.4.2 (4)) and iPod OS.
It's especially strange because only some of the video files have this problem, not all of them. And as I said they play fine on iTunes on the computer.
I checked and made sure my computer is authorized for my account. Rebooting, ejecting and replugging the iPod, or restarting iTunes doesn't help. Any advice?

I had a similar problem once and solved it by coping the items to another folder. I then removed the items using the iTunes interface and said "Yes" to the "remove video and delete file" question. I then closed iTunes. After opening it again I used the File > Add To Library menu option and added the items again. It worked for me, maybe it wil work for you as well. You may end up needing to do all that, only to find out you need to re-download the titles from the iTunes Store again. Good luck.
