Problems creating JCO Connections

Hi experts,
I have a question regarding the JCO Connection creation in Content Administrator.
My first doubt is if it's necessary to create each JCO Connection for each backend system that I'll run RFC functions?
If is it true, during Creation I must specify user and password. I have to specify the Backend User and Pass, right?
Finally, could you explain me why there are several JCO connections created?
When I create the JCO connection I will be able to invoque Backend RFC functions from, for example, a webdynpro?
Kind Regards,
Martin.

Hi Martin,
1. Yes, provided you want to use the RFC functionality.
2. Yes, you would be giving the username and password for the metadata.
Please refer to [Creating JCo Destinations|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/3a/3b1b40fcdd8f5ce10000000a155106/frameset.htm]
3.Generally, when you install business packages like ESS MSS etc, there are a bunch of JCO which are installed as well, but all you would have to do is edit its properties and point them to the correct location.
4. Yes, you can.

    Hi
Can you be more specific as to what stage you get this particular error.
    Couple of Questions :
When you are creating a JCO connection are you able to see the systems configured in SLD of the XI machine.
Can you tell the steps that you have done to point your WebAS to SLD of the XI machine.
Also try clicking on the Check SLD connection and see if the connection is ok.
    regards

  • Creating JCo connections while using Developer workplace

    Hi All,
Before using Developer workplace, I used to create JCo connections in the Web Dynpro Content administrator of the corresponding portal. We have Developer workplace set up over here. The application runs on the J2EE engine of the Developer workplace but where does it get deployed ??
I asked the person who set up the developer workplace over here and he says the workplace does not point to any portal. Any idea ???
    Thanks,
    Tom

    Hi tom,
Webdynpro all application deployed to webdynpro container ia part of j2ee engine. To create JCO Destination first of all you have to set up SLD.
    SLD Configuration:
Configuring SLD in Sneak Preview SAP NetWeaver '04 Sneak
See this link for Post-Installation Guide: SAP System Landscape Directory on SAP Web AS Java 6.40..and JCO destinations:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/downloaditem?rid=/library/uuid/f0b0e990-0201-0010-cc96-d7ecd2e51715

  • Problem in creating JCO connection

    Hi All,
I am using ECC 6.0.While creating the JCO connection in available products ECC 6.0 is not available.I am getting ECC 5.0 . Can I use ECC 5.0 or else what I need to do to get ECC 6.0
    Please reply soon
    Regards
    Pawan

    Hi Pawan,
The others here are correct. You can either update the SLD server with the latest CIM content and then you will have the ECC6 sytem to connect to or you may wish to simply select the ECC5 option.
This configuration is really only a description for your landscape and while it is ideal that this is accurate it wont actualy hurt you to use another ECC version.

    Hi
Please configure your SLD. Your SLD holds the system definition. Define a SAP WebAS abap system and then try to create a Metadata connection using WebDynpro content administrator. Now you will be able to see the msg server defined in the dropdown. Also ensure that you have the message server entry in your services file.
    Refer these links for SLD

    Rajendra

    Hello Rajendra,
Good to hear from u. Let me try to give a soln for this problem of yours.
I think probably the logon group has not been specified in the backend. If thats the case then do the following:
Connect to the backend server for which you are trying to create the JCO. Run the transaction SMLG. It will show u the existing logon groups. carry out the following steps if the 'PUBLIC' group is not present in the list of logon groups.
Click on the create button. In the pop-up, type the logon as 'PUBLIC'. For the instance, select the F4 help and choose the existing instance number. Click on copy and click save. Try running the transaction /nsmlg and now it should show the logon group 'PUBLIC'.
When you create the JCO connection, it should now show the logon group 'PUBLIC'.
    Regards,
    Prathamesh.

  • Can't create JCO connection in Portal7 for ESS1.0

    Hi,
I am in the Process of setting up ESS/MSS Rel 1.0 in Portal 7. The Portal is a WebAS ABAP+JAVA system.
First step after installing Portal, I configured the SLD and created the Technical systems.  The sld is running and I have tested the sld from the Content Administrator->WebDynpro-> check SLD. It results sld successfully tested and I am able to start the sld also.
After that I deployed the Business packages for ESS/MSS and selfservices via SDM.
Now I am trying to create the JCO connection in the Content Administrator->WebDynpro->create/maintain JCO Connections, it throws the following error

  • Error in creating JCo connection with destination type'Load-Balanced Con'

    Hi,
I am working on webdynpro application(NW 04s), i need to connect with the backend system(ECC 6.0) using model.I configured my SLD and created technical system successfully.
The technical system got created with an error:
    CIM_ERR_ALREADY_EXISTS: Instance already exists: SAP_BCApplicationServer.CreationClassName="SAP_BCApplicationServer",Name="ID1.Number.01.HostName.ahsides"
But the system got created so I proceeded with Jco connection creation:
I need to create 2 Jco connections for this,
First with Data Type 'Application Data' & Destination Type 'Single-Server connection'. Second with Data Type 'Data Dictionary' & Destination type 'Load-balanced Connection'.
The first Jco with 'Single-Server connection' got created successfully and ping and test is also successfull.
The second Jco connection with 'Load-Balanced Connection' got created successfull but it is throwing error while pinging and testing.
Ping Error : Failed to ping JCo destination 'WD_EMPLOYEE_RFC_METADATA_DEST'.
    Test Error : com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (102) JCO_ERROR_COMMUNICATION: JCO.Client not connected in repository call
Please help me in this. This problem was with 'Load-Balanced Connection' only.

    Hi,
Have you taken a look at the file %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\services?
If you haven't, try and find the line sapms<sid>, where sid is de SID of the system you-re trying to reach.
If the line isn't there write it down like this.
    sapms<sid>     36<nr>/tcp
    That works for me.

  • Problems creating JCO connector

We are having some problems when attempting to follow the steps indicated in the Post-Installation Slide Deck of RAR version 5.3. In step 4 (Create JCO Connectors) we are not able to create a new JCO connector associated with the given models in the WebDynpro Content Administrator. The "create" button displayed next to each model is disabled and the status indicated is "Status Unknown" (gray color).
When we test the SLD connection it is pointing to the default URL,  while a different URL was specified during installation given an SLD already existed previous to SAP GRC installation.
Any ideas of where we need to be looking in order to fix this?

    Hi Pablo,
This happens because your SLD bridge is not configured correctly ,
Please follow the steps as under :
    Login to  Visual Administrator.
Expand Navigation menu under J2EE Server Name ,
    Expand Services List
    Click On SLD Data Suppllier
    Click On http settings tab
Enter Host name and port number , user name /password for your system connection.
    Click Save.
Click on CIM Client Generation settings tabs
Enter host name port , user account details you entered in http settings tab .
    Click Save.
Click Supplier ( data transfer)icon on top of pane to transfer data information you have entered in sld supplier.
A pop up window appears  " trigger SLD data transfer" )
    Click = yes.
A pop-up with appear indicating transfer successful.
If this window does not appear , then SLD needs to be configured properly,
    launch http://<hostname>:<portnumber>/sld
Click on Administration > Initial setup
    Fill in values for :
Object server name :Name of computer <SPACE> 1
    E.g AG500900A 1
Gate way host : Name of computer as above.
gateway port : portnumber as used in URL .
Import software catalog check box = OK
    Import SLD objects
(close to 95791 objects need to get imported , wait for sometime till they are imported )
After importing is done , refresh once.
This should resolve, however if you still face it then setup technical system at
    http://<hostname>:<portnumber>/sld
    HOME > Techinical systems .
    Click new technical system
    Select webas ABAP
the details need to be fetched from SAP R/3 system for which JCO is to be created.
    thnks

  • Unable to create JCO connections for ESS self service

    Hello SDN,
I am configuring the ESS for an EP 7.0 and a ECC 6.0(EP and ECC are combined in one instance).
I need to configure some JCO connections at:
    http://host:port/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/tcwdtools/Explorer
But i cannot create any JCO connection from there. I filled in all fields that are necessary. But I keep receiving this error messages:
    MsgServerName is not defined.
    SystemName is not defined.
    LogonGroupName is not defined.
Which is strange because I have defined the right message server. The SLD connection to the SLD is working fine. I have upgraded the SLD and the EP java stack to SP 9.0 which is the highest level.
Does anyone know the solution for this problem?
    Thanx in advance,
    Regards,
    Bart

    Hi ,
Add logon group Public in the tx smlg then execute tx RZ70 then try to create RFC destination

  • Problem with JCo Connection Pool

    Hi,
I have a problem with using an RFC Model in my WebApplication. So sometimes the access to the function block works, and sometimes it doesn't work. Now I know, that there is a problem with the connection pool. Look at this message:
com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (106) JCO_ERROR_RESOURCE: Connection pool WD_X24_MODELDATA_DEST_CPIC_REKTO_DE_useDefinedUser is exhausted. The current pool size limit (max connections) is 10 connections.
So it looks like a problem with closing the JCo Connections after using. Do know where the problem is? Because I'm using many other function blocks with no problems.

    Hello,
You need to increase the pool size via Visual Administrator.
Server 0 -> Services -> JCO RFC Connections.
Change the pool size from there. I believe a restart is in order.

I think it may be relevant to mention that I am trying to create a connection on my local network.

I am using windowsXP platform BTW, if it makes a difference, and Jdeveloper 10g. When I try to create the webDav Connection it still gives me the connection failed error, .....
