Problems detecting monitor type (or ID)

I have a 12" PowerBook G4 (Early 2006, 867 MHz model) onto which I am trying to connect a Sony LCD display (SDM-X73) through the VGA port. But I have a problem where sometimes the monitor is indeed recognised as an "SDM-X73", while other times it is recognised as a "VGA Display". On rare occasions, the display isn't recognised at all and I have to reboot the laptop in order to make the display work again.
I have gone and bought another mini-VGA to VGA adaptor just to verify that the cable is not at fault, and it indeed is not the case—with the original and the new cable, the computer has the same difficulty recognising the type of the attached monitor.
In short, why would the computer have this inconsistent behaviour in detecting the monitor type connected to it? It is a small issue because it affects what resolutions and scan rates can be selected in the Displays preferences, and it also causes the computer to select the default ColorSync colour profile for the monitor every time the type changes. Is this a sign of the computer system developing a bad video output port?
A few more details about the laptop in question: it has 640 MB of RAM installed, it's running Mac OS X 10.5.8 Leopard and it's all otherwise original equipment. The software I run on it is pretty bare-essential: Safari, Mail, iWork '09, a Wacom Graphire 4 tablet driver and PasteBot Sync. I don't have any 3rd party software that relates to displays.

Figured it out...
I don't know whether it is a fault or limitation in either the video card in the PowerBook G4 or the video port(s) (and associated electronics) on the monitor itself, but the monitor has to be driven by the PowerBook at 60 Hz before the monitor ID comes across correctly.
I had my monitor set to 75 Hz, which caused problems in identifying the monitor. The fix is to open the Displays system preferences and set the external monitor to operate at 60 Hz for all resolutions. This allows the monitor ID to be retrieved by the video hardware properly, and the Displays system preferences (and the system menu for it) will show that.
It must be noted that this happens to be the case for my computer and external monitor--it may not apply to your setup, but then again, it may if you are having similar problems with monitor IDs.

Business Process Monitoring - Monitoring Types Nodes missing

I am making the setup of the Business Process Monitoring. I have created a scenario, a process and a step. Bui I have a big problem I am not able to solve: when I select a monitoring type for the step I have created (e.g. Application Monitor, Background job, Dialog Performance etc), I know that a subnode should appear under the step node but in my case this does not happen and I am not able to configure the monitoring type (No subnode appears under the step node even if I select all the monitoring types).
Someone knows which is the problem? Is there some missing configuration or it could be a Support Package problem.

Hi,
in the workflow definition you can suppress the node to be listed in the Monitoring. Check the the relevant nodes please.

PS C309a printer detecting paper type

PS C309a; Windows Windows 7; USB wired.
Is there a way to override the printer detecting the type of paper being used? My printer canceled the print job, because the paper didn't match its detection.

What paper type did you specify? Are you feeding from the main tray or the photo tray? Does the paper have a printed border?

How do you stop an MBP headphone-in from constantly re-detecting input type?

I'm a professional music producer - I work for majors.
I only use "regular" ("studio quality") headphones in my MBP, for reference on-the-move.
I have had the same issue on two consecutive MBP's now.
Every time there is the slightest movement or slight strain on the jack - the MBP silences the input (and, I assume tries to detect what type of input there is at the socket). This can happen when adjusting the MBP in ones lap, table... it can happen at every movement of machine or cable.
The jack doesn't have to visibly move. I have to take out the jack wait a second and re-insert. This doesn't even work every time.
So: How does one manually set and lock the input type?

I don't think that it is a 'feature' my bet is on 'failure' instead.
I think that the connection between the 3 pole connector on your studio quality headphones (a model would be nice to know) and the 4 pole socket on the Mac is not good. Can you reproduce this with a standard pair of Apple earbuds (a test only) or is it limited to whatever your headphones are?
I will also suggest a USB interface, they are very small (put it in your pocket, buy 2) the Logitech version is in the picture below.
If you do choose the 3.5mm to USB option this one (Turtle Beach Amigo II) is the best I have used.
Requiring no drivers (on a Mac) it sounds at least as good as the internal audio does.

Audio Configuration problem detected after install

During the download of the new ITunes version I had a major power failure. I went back and completed the download and after the installation I got an error message that ITunes could not be opened due to an audio configuration problem detected. I went to the Apple site and downloaded a new version from scratch and after the install I got the same audio error. Any Suggestions?

Thank you for responding. I am sure that I selected the text. I don't do anything different than I did many times before. But if I change a text know, for exemple in the color Red, than other text, that I didn't selected, get a different text: bigger text or other color. In iWeb everything is OK, but when I publish it, than there are those grazy changes. I use iWeb for 3 years now and had no problems till now.
Is it because the software is not supported anymore by Apple, because you can not update the software anymore. It is a pitty, because I like iWeb. It is easy to work with.

Monitoring Types on Business Process Monitoring

I am currently busy with setting up business process monitoring in our company.
I have gone through all the steps and am currently at a stage where I have to test the monitoring types.
Can anyone please explain what kind of information is required on the monitoring types and if you can also give me a brief explanation on the different kinds of monitoring types and what exactly the do because when I am trying to set them up, nothing is happening and I am not getting any alerts.

Problem in Idoc type

Hi Experts,
I am facing one strange issue in idocs.
I am having a scenario where for particular LS i have assigned HRMD_A06 basic type and ZHRMD_A06 extension in partner profile.
and i am trying to implement badi HRALE00OUTBOUND_IDOC.
in this badi at runtime wrong message type is getting picked up at the runtime(checked in debugging). But at the end it displays proper basic type.
so for me it is getting difficult to write logic in this badi.
Please guide is there any particular setting apart from partner profile where we assign message type to LS.

Using java it would require using JNI and/or Runtime.exec().
And in all likelyhood it would require a variety of different code to detect different types.

Problem with mime type in web.xml file

I actually got a problem with mime types on Weblogic 6.0 under Linux.
I read the documentation so I added the next lines in the web.xml file in
the WEB-INF directory of my server :

I am having the same problem with doc and xsl. I have added this

Is there some other setting that needs to take place?

I can see the doc and excel files in the browser if I don't go through the weblogic
server. That just confirms it's not my browser.

Hard Disk failed but no problems detected in hardware test

My macbook crashed yesterday when I was running a photo sideshow. When I turned it on a flashing question mark appeared. I have followed instructions in the mac manual and looked at some discussions here. If I hold down the options key on startup there is no hard drive there and there is also no have drive if I run the disk utility but when I ran the hardware test it said no problems detected and I have repeated the test several times. This might mean there is an issue with the software but how can i reinstall it if I can't see the hard drive? I'm not sure what to do or what the problem is so please help

Problems detected after updating to iTunes version 11.1.3.8 for Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit version, Service Pack 1.
USB connected iPhone 4 (iOS 7.0.4) is not recognised in iTunes.
Sluggish response when starting iTunes.
Any known remedy?

After updating to the newest version of iTunes which is 11.1.3.8, I can no longer edit song information because whenever I click Get Info, the program crashes. It says, "iTunes has stopped working...". I literally tried all the troubleshooting techniques here but to no avail!
I already:
Reinstalled iTunes and other related programs like a hundred times
Scanned my computer for viruses
Opened iTunes on another user account
Opened iTunes on safe mode
Removed unusable configuration files
BUT STILL, the problem persists. I have the same version of iTunes on my office computer and it works perfectly fine but I want my iTunes here at home to get fixed. Never had problems with editing song information until I updated it to 11.1.3.8.
I just don't know what to do anymore. I updated this program last January 1 and until now I haven't found any solution. It's really getting on my nerves!!!

I'm new to Ubuntu & Linuz OS. I've started to see a pop-up window that says: System Program Problem Detected- Do you want to report the problem. When I click yes, I'm asked to enter my password to access problem reports of system programs. Should I be asked for my password ???

I am fairly new to Ubuntu, but that does not sound unexpected. Ubuntu tends to have everyone use a limited account that needs to ask for a password before carrying out operations like installing software.
