Problems displaying album artwork
for some reason, my video ipod won't display some of the album artwork from itunes. it shows the downloaded song artwork and some other songs, but not others (like when i import one of my CD's and the itunes library automatically finds the album artwork). they aren't in a weird format or anything. the album artwork shows up on the itunes library and even shows up on my nano, but no the video. anybody know why or know a way to fix it?

How are you adding the artwork to the songs?
You should try adding the artwork to the songs in
iTunes first, not directly to the songs on the iPod
(through iTunes).
If you add artwork directly to the iPod, the artwork
is sometimes not displayed when playing songs.

i add the artwork in itunes--not my ipod (or itunes automatically adds artwork when i upload some cds), but when i manually add the song from itunes to my ipod, it either loses the artwork (doesn't show in ipod on itunes) or it keeps it (i can see the album artwork in itunes), but does not show up on my ipod when disconnected from itunes.
i read the article u posted and i can't delete every song i manually uploaded cuz they were all manually uploaded (i have ~600 songs on it so far). i don't chose automatic because as soon as i add the songs to my ipod, i delete them from my itunes library to save space on my computer.
sometimes the artwork shows up, sometimes it doesn't. i tried to find out why some do and some don't, but i don't see a pattern.

Hi. I just upgraded to iTunes 7 and a lot of the artwork I have dilligently searched for and attatched to all of my albums over the past few years, with older versions of iTunes, are messed up. Some are missing and some others aren't being displayed properly. I've already been through a fix for the distorted audio playback (so far so good!) and was wondering if I have to find all new artwork or is there a fix for this, also? Thanks!

Where's Display Album Artwork option? It's missing
I've read the document, I know where it's supposed to be...but it's not there.
My friend is having issues with her iPod Touch displaying incorrect artwork on her iPod, even though it shows correctly in iTunes. I told her to unsync the artwork then resync it. We connected her iPod, selected it under Devices, clicked on the Music tab....but the option to Display Album Artwork on iPod just isn't there.
Any ideas? She's running 7.5 on a G5.There is no option for the ipod touch to not sync artwork, it just does, you can't turn it on or off. If you are having problems with artwork mismatched, the thing to do is to turn off music syncing all together, sync the ipod, so all the music is erased from it. Then turn music syncing back on and let it resync. Make sure you have your music still in itunes or backed up before you erase it from the ipod, it will erase it.

160gb ipod classic won't display album artwork...sometimes
I have a 160GB iPod Classic (version 2.0.4 PC), and ran into a strange problem regarding displaying album artwork. Here's what I can describe:
--> When browsing through albums, any albums that have been added to my iPod or had their info changed since a certain time (not sure of the exact date but I believe it to be July 2013) do not display artwork.
--> If these albums are played, one song from the album will not display artwork, but all the rest will. I can't detect any set pattern as to which song won't display artwork once I update it, but I'm sure there's some pattern.
--> All the album artwork is displayed on Cover Flow and on iTunes, but not in these places.
--> It doesn't matter whether I downloaded the artwork directly through iTunes (i.e. clicked "Get Album Artwork") or put in artwork from a file on my computer, this happens literally every single time.Probably, the easiest way to resolve this is to copy the artwork from one song on an album and paste it into every song on that album.
In your iTunes Library, choose an album that has artwork issues; choose one track that has the artwork and copy it. Then:
the slightly longer method is to check each song individually, until you find the one with the missing artwork. Paste (the copy previously made) from one of the other tracks on the album.
a slightly quicker method is to highlight all the songs on that album (make sure it is just that one album) and paste the artwork into the box.
Sync the iPod with your iTunes Library. -
Error When Trying to Re-check "Display Album Artwork"
Here's my issue, I have a 30 gb photo ipod and I added album artwork in iTunes to all of my music on my ipod. The artwork displays in iTunes, but does not show up on the iPod. When I go to iPod options in iTunes and uncheck, then recheck "Display album artwork on your iPod", I get "The iPod "(myname)" cannot be updated. An unknown error occurred (-50)." I updated to the latest iPod software, using iPod Updater 2005-06-26 and I also have the latest iTunes software (4.9). I see other people with the same type of error, but nobody getting the same error number as me.
Wow. I sure am impressed with the amount of help available to the average new iPod user! I started using the iPod (60gb/using newest iTunes on XP) about one week ago, and have had about three problems - all of which were resolved without panic or hassle by simply browsing forums or checking the manual.
I thought it was pretty cool to be able to place the artwork on the 'Pod while the song is playing, so I started throwing the art from amazon.com (an invaluable resource for album art!) to the 'Pod. Wouldn't you believe it - nothing showed up! iTunes showed it - I could see it - but nothing on the 'Pod! I tried the "check and uncheck show album art icon," at which time I started getting the "Cannot update [my iPod] - Unknown error -50" error. A bit of searching and WHAMMO! The answer is upon me! Unload all the music, add the art to the songs in iTunes, and reload the songs! I'm sure it'll work like a charm (without a doubt!).
I usually have limited amounts of time to tinker with the 'Pod, so I'm glad things can be solved so quickly! I'm also glad I've only got 5.6gb of tunes on the 'Pod that I have to re-load! My heart goes out to those who have customized artist info/track listings, however... As well as those who have the full 60 filled... It's got to be terrible to get news that you've got to unload that fine piece of machinery (apparently you can't say "s*cker" or "su*ka"). I'll definitely be sure to make any modifications (aside from volume controls from song to song) in iTunes before loading the songs to the 'Pod!

Where's the "Display album artwork on your iPod" preference?
Everything seems to work fine with iTunes 9.0.1 and my iPod Classic 80G, except that it doesn't seem possible to remove album artwork from the iPod. I just read the article "[Viewing album artwork on iPod|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2317?viewlocale=en_US]" and I know that I just have to deselect the "Display album artwork on your iPod" preference in iTunes. The problem is that, after selecting my iPod under the Devices section in the iTunes Source pane, I can't find any such preference in the Music tab. I can see two radio buttons ("Entire music library" and "Selected playlists, artits, and genres") and one checkbox ("Include music videos"), but no "Display album artwork on your iPod" checkbox.

Can you give a reference supporting your statement ?
From Apple? No. Plenty of threads in here though, both builds of iTunes 9 released for Mac & PC have been missing this feature and people have given feedback. This is either a policy change and it will remain that way or it was accidentally omitted during the redesign in which case it may reappear in a future build. Either way the control isn't magically missing from just your copy, it's the same for all of us.

Some of the album artwork on my iPod is wrong. I've tried to change it many times but it doesn't change. I've decided that the easiest thing to do now would be to NOT display album artwork on my iPod. How do I set my iPod to NOT display album art? I've checked the User manual and that doesn't help.
Why don't you, instead of taking time to do that, just backup, and then restore your iPod?

ITunes will no longer display Album Artwork
I recenly had my computer cleand and afterwards iTunes will not display album artwork. The artwork is still on my iPod but not on my computer. It displays a messages "iTunes is unable to display album covers on this computer". It all worked fine before my computer was cleaned out. Any ideas?
when you open the sync option go to pictures and make sure all of them are checked

IPod Syncing Problem for Album Artwork
So everytime I try to sync my iPod Touch using iTunes,most of the artwork for my albums/songs changes. I've had this happen several times in the past. It seems that many albums take the artwork from one album.
When I try to check the "Display album artwork" box and update my ipod, I get this error message:

Remote app won't display album artwork on IPhone 5s
Hi All,
When I connect my IPhone 5s to my iTunes library (mac mini) the album artwork is not displayed. Instead; there's text (Artist, Album and song title) where the artwork should be.
My friends and family with various other iOS devices have the artwork display fine! What's wrong with my IPhone?!

Removing then restoring the music library still showed unsynced artwork.
The problem was eliminated (finally!) after I deleted all downloaded artwork. Some but not all songs had the proper artwork embedded in their files. It appears that iTunes for Windows displays the proper embedded artwork but in Music on the iPhone the downloaded artwork over-rode the embedded artwork and was out-of-sync.
Upon deleting all downloaded artwork many albums' artwork was blank, both in iTunes for Windows and Music on the iPhone but at least artwork was synced! I copied artwork images off the Internet and embedded artwork in music files. Sync problem resolved.
This is costly in file space; there'd be a single instance of downloaded artwork per album vs. multiple instances of artwork in embedded files. So be it.
Perhaps if I had deleted all embedded artwork and relied solely on downloaded artwork.... will remain unanswered. -

I took the display album art check away because I couldn't see the album artwork. I then checked it back on and it still won't show the album artwork. It says ERORR (-50). Can anyone tell me how to fic this???-Thanks, Ray
30 GB Video iPod! Windows XP
Windows XPI had a problem where the incorrect album art was displaying once in a while. I used the 'fix' of disabling the art and then re-enabling it. I got the same (-50) error, and ended up with most of the art disappearing (I guess because it bombed out of the process).
I ended up using the iPod updater to do a restore which blew away everything and set it back to a clean unit. I then re-synced everything from iTunes (after re-enabling the album art) and all was sweet - haven't noticed another problem with the album art since doing this. -
My itunes displays all album artwork, my 80gb classic ipod does not. In cover flow on my ipod, I am missing 2 albums whose artwork came from the itunes store. When scrolling through my music by albuums, almost 50% of the album artwork is black (not the gray screen with the music notes). Although when I actually select the song to listen to it, the artwork appears. Anyone know why this is happening?

IPod Photo not displaying album artwork
My iPod Photo was displaying all of the album artwork until I created playlists. I created 6 playlists and then all of my artwork disappeared, including artwork from songs not in playlists. It still shows the artwork when the iPod is connected to my computer. Does anyone know what the deal is with this?

Cannot display album artwork on this computer
Every time I open up itunes it says that album artwork cannot be displayed on this computer. Is there a way to fix this and has anybody else been experiencing the same problem?

IPod Photo won't display album artwork for purchased songs
I bought some songs on the ITunes Music Store, and I can see the album artwork on the ITunes, I can also see in my IPod the artwork for most of the songs that I've downloaded, but I CAN'T see the artwork for those recently purchased.
I also noticed that when I purchased songs I had a duplicated file for each one of them, stored in \iTunes\iTunes Music\ and \My Downloads\ respectively, so I deleted the copies from \My Downloads\
