Problems downloading Adobe Reader to Firefox

The problem is that the I cannot locate an Adobe Reader file that I can download into a folder on my computer.  All of the downloads indicate that they will download and install on my computer automatically.  If they did, then when the computer was restarted, the Adobe Reader probram would no longer reside on my computer.  It would have been deleted by a program installed to do just that, unless it was disabled to allow for and install.  This program is a major part of my protection from all the unwanted files I seem collect while using the inernet.
What I need is an Adobe Reader file that I can download into a specified folder, then searched for for fuzzy coding.  Then I would disconnect from the internet, disable my protection program and install the program.  Then reactivate the protection, and use the program from then on.
Question is where can I download a file directly into a folder without it automatically executing.
Downloading any file without my protection activated, will never happen.
Thanks in advance

  • Problems downloading adobe reader

    Can anyone help me.
I recently purchased a new PC and tried yesterday to download adobe reader.
I had to click on the 'if the download does not start click here' but when I did I was given an option to save or cancel... there was no option to RUN.
I have saved out 5 times but the programme is not showing on the computer and therefore I cannot run it.
I have windows visita and use Mozila firefox.
Could mozila being stoping the programme from downloading.. if so how do I get it downloaded.
    Jon

You need to be sure where your browser should save the file to.  Not sure where the default save path is for Firefox.  You can try using Windows Search to see if the file is on your hard drive.  Try searching for AdbeRdr910* modified in the last month.
I read on another forum that AVG AntiVirus software was causing the same missing download problem.  Are you using AVG by any chance?

The instructions on the Adobe site for Firefox are out-of-date and only apply to older versions of Firefox. You have the most current version of Adobe Reader (ver. 9.3.2) shown in your plug-ins. • Having a problem downloading Adobe Reader to my computer.

I don't understand why I cannot simply download Adobe Reader X to my computer from Firefox. It says I am missing a plugin, then when it searches it says its not available, takes me to download something and then a ZIP file appears.
I don't even know what to do with this ZIP file and this seems like a tedious process for downloading a simple file. I gave up, gave in and used GOOGLE CHROME to download the file and it was on my computer in less than a minute, so then I could load it onto my computer.
Why is Firefox being so picky about something like this and why haven't they made this easier to download. I don't like using other programs like CHROME or IE for things like this, but I am forced to use them.
I enjoy Firefox, but it's the "little foxes" like these that mess up the vineyard and makes it difficult to browse and download items with ease.
Please make this easier for people to download. Make a plug-in available or something to where I do not have to mess around with ZIP files that I don't know what to do with.

  • Problem downloading Adobe Reader

I have attempted to download Adobe Reader. It is currently not installed on my computer. Each time I attempt it gets to 96% installed and freezes and gives a message another program is installing, try again later. I have checked task manager, and nothing else is installing. I have internet explorer and google chrome browser options. I have windows 7. I have attempted older versions of Reader with the same result.

You can try using this tool to first remove all traces of previous versions of Reader:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, download the full offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
and run it immediately after restarting your computer.

    Hi,
Could you please try doing the following:
    Download Microsoft's SubinACL tool from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e8ba3e56-d8fe -4a91-93cf-ed6985e3927b
Install the same by double clicking on the "subinacl.msi" just downloaded.
Open Command Prompt window through the Run Dialog Box (Start | Run, type cmd and click OK)
In the Command Prompt window, type in or copy/paste the following commands:
    cd /d "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Resource Kits\Tools" (Hit Enter)
    subinacl /subkeyreg <Type in the exact registry key for which you are getting the error> /grant=administrators=f /grant=SYSTEM=f /grant=USERS=f /grant="Creator Owner"=f (Hit Enter)eg. subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\OptionalComponents /grant=administrators=f /grant=SYSTEM=f /grant=USERS=f /grant="Creator Owner"=f (Hit Enter)
Try installing Adobe Reader again. You should be able to successfully install it this time.

  • Why can't I download Adobe Reader 9.3

I'm having problems downloading Adobe Reader 9.3 and I need help

    Hi Connie,
Sorry, I am not an expert.
I would try downloading and running Windows Installer Cleanup as others suggested.  I ran it successfully on my W7 machine, but it did not solve the problem of downloading Adobe Reader 9.3.
What did was detailed in my other thread (post): http://forums.adobe.com/thread/626379?tstart=30  (this should take you the post directly)
Please note that you must be logged in to your computer as an administrator or with administrator rights before taking the steps in that post.  After you complete the steps and log back in under the new (upper) administrator level, you may be able to load Reader 9.3 (it worked for me)
Hope this helps/works--  I don't have any other experience or advice (sorry).

  • Download Adobe Reader past network firewall AV block of zipped and encrypted files?

I'm having a problem downloading Adobe Reader because our Sonicwall AV settings apparently don't allow zipped and encrypted files into the network.
I 'd rather not change firewall settings if there is another way to get this done. Thanks...anyone?

Does that also happen if you download the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
